It's very possible I say this with every Roseanna M. White book but she is an ever-and-always favorite! Time and again, she wows me with her story twists and turns and delights me with her characters. She always somehow finds the perfect balance of historical detail and well-paced plotting. The romance in this one was as swoony and enjoyable as ever...and gosh, I just love how memorable and just plain fun (though there's nothing plain about it) her books always are. To Treasure an Heiress is a wonderful second installment in this series and I can't wait for the next one!

2021 was a rough year to be a Roseanna White fan, but To Treasure an Heiress returns to what a lot of fans like about her books. I was looking forward to Sheridan and Beth falling in love since the Nature of a Lady, and it delivered.

Most of what made this book delightful was the humor, especially Sheridan's internal monologue. Both he and Beth have arcs of making their faith a central, not sidelined, part of their lives. Although I didn't appreciate the addition of a servant's POV because it was not necessary for the plot, ultimately I liked the lessons she learned, which felt more concrete to me than the main characters'. Ainsley, who does not have a POV here, was my favorite character. There are a lot of players in this book, so you'll want to read the first book first.

Sheridan's "deconstruction" views were a bit concerning- always tread carefully when talking about disregarding the church - it's obviously not infallible (hello, Reformation), but there must be something to it if so many people who love Jesus hold to it. But it seems in line with the author's new trajectory of inserting obviously concerning views into her books. Whether or not she agrees with her characters, I have no idea. The majority of the "I love Jesus but not the church" people are, like Sheridan, not the strongest Bible-readers and holy-life-livers that I know, and therefore are not the ones I believe should be telling the religion how to relig. After you've surrendered your life to Jesus, then we'll talk. Sheridan did have a come to Jesus moment but I don't remember his views on the church really being resolved, just like the evolution in Nature of a Lady kind of faded away for me and I missed what came of it.

There's a couple of surprising ways things were handled, and I always appreciated when a story has a unique turn instead of following the expected path. There's also the promised pirate treasure hunt and adventure, more of the beautiful island setting history. By the way, am I the only one who doesn't love when prologues are about someone else? It really didn't seem necessary to the story and now I know why people skip them.

I know this is coming across as mostly negative but I really did enjoy the read because I liked the characters, their developments, and that no females were threatened with sexual assault in it. I was provided a copy of the ebook from the publisher through Netgalley, but all opinions are my own.

To Treasure an Heiress is a fabulous book about a girl named Beth, who lives on a group of islands that is known for its history with pirates. She has learned through her research about a specific treasure that she hopes to find at some point. Then she meets a man that she can't stand, everyone calls him Sheridan. He bought a box that belonged to her but was stolen. The box had originally belonged to the pirate whose treasure she seeks. It takes a while, but she begins to like this man in spite of herself. Great story I will enjoy again and again!

This story had a slow start, but quickly captured my attention and kept me company well into the early mornings when I struggled with insomnia. Or maybe it was this story which created the insomnia.

“Double blast. That was the sort of observation that made it very hard to remember she didn't like him one bit.”

This was a great story! From fantastic characters, privileged villains, a treasure for pirate treasure and finding love, what was not to love. And I absolute LOVED Sheridan. He was funny, passionate, had a great sense of adventure and when you least expected it, DEEP.

“Because I'm here. What's the point of coming to a place if you don't learn about it? It's half the fun.”

I was smiling so much reading this story and mostly it was thanks to Sheridan and Beth's interactions. And Sheridan's sisters was an added fun Bonus.

Some readers were a bit disappointed in book one. Be sure to know it will not be the case in this one. Not only do you get the fantastic characters, there is fights and danger, but more than that, this book was filled with so much faith and spiritual wisdom.

“That we ought to stop worrying that our every word is wrong and instead let the Master Craftsman wield us however He will. There may be stray chisel marks, the times we slip. But He'll still set the stone where it belongs. We just need to remember our lives are a monument to Him, not to ourselves.”

The theme that we are treasured and Loved by God was so strong and the truth about that God has forgiven us, that we are cleansed and redeemed, was strongly delivered.

“He makes us with great worth. Creates us that way intrinsically. Our sins, our bad choices, perhaps they coat us like mud. But the mud cannot take away the value He instilled in us. But He loves us, as does the Father. Because we are valuable. And the blood of Christ, when it washes us clean, fully restores us to what He created us to be.”

Okay, looking back on my thoughts, I'm bumping up my rating to 5 stars. Sheridan totally deserves that!

To Treasure an Heiress by Roseanna M. White is AMAZING! I know I say this every time I read a novel by White, but I really, really mean it this time. As with all of her novels, this book is fast-paced and highly engaging. The prose is perfection. The plot is unique and interesting. The setting is magical and gorgeous. And the historical aspects are fascinating. I had to pause a time or two to conduct my own research on the Scillies and Rupert the Pirate Prince. I adore when historical novels get me to expand my educational horizons.

White’s characters are exceptional and the BEST aspect of this novel. In this story, readers are treated to Beth’s, Sheridan’s, and Senara’s points of view. Beth is the best kind of heroine — she doesn’t need anyone but realizes how those in her life are a true gift from God. She is brave and daring and so, so adventurous. Senara is lovely. Her guilt and shame and pain resonated deeply with me. Of the three main characters, Senara is the character I can relate to the most. And, did I mention already that she’s lovely? Cause she is. Sheridan is PERFECTION. He is, hands down, the best hero ever. I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard as I did reading this story and that is all because of Sheridan. His internal monologues are the stuff of comedic gold, and then he opens his mouth and says the quiet parts out loud … SO, SO good. His instant devotion and attraction and love for Beth is the stuff of dreams. Then there are the secondary characters: Ainsley is the voice of reason, Bram is the cantankerous, not-a-morning-person who’s there for the adventure and to support his sister, Libby (from book 1), there’s the all-knowing and wise Mamm-wynn, and Sheridan’s sisters, the hilarious, commanding, and exceptionally intelligent Ladies Abbie and Millicent. And, then there is Lady Emily — poor Lady Emily. Her family situation breaks my heart. I cannot wait to get to her story in book 3.

Families are as unique as an individual’s fingerprints. No two families are the same. And, no two families’ dysfunction is the same. I really appreciate the juxtaposition of families in this story. On the one hand, we have Beth’s, Libby’s, Senara’s, and Sheridan’s families. They are all unique, but they are all wonderful examples of good, supportive people who love each other. It is abundantly clear that these people — brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, cousins, and grandparents — adore each other and have one another’s back. These characters have beautiful families that illustrate love and acceptance no matter what. It’s wonderful, and it’s the way families should be. But on the other hand, we have Lady Emily’s family. Her family is devastatingly bad and hurtful and selfish. They stoop to any lengths to get what they want, and it shreds Emily’s heart. She is the black sheep in her family, and her family’s behaviors towards her and others have hurt her so deeply that she changes. She’s lost her hope of ever belonging to a good, loving family and it weighs her down physically. But that’s the cool thing about family. If you aren’t lucky and blessed to be born into a loving and supportive family then you can create one. We all have the power to give the love and support we wish to have in our own lives. We all have the power to be different in the new families we make. We can break old, destructive cycles. I think that is pretty cool, and I’m hopeful that Emily will come to realize this in book 3.

To Treasure an Heiress is an excellent Historical Romance that I highly recommend. This is a book that must be experienced. Please put this book on the top of your TBR pile today. You do not want to miss this outstanding story.

Author Roseanna White has outdone herself with this book! I am completely smitten with Sheridan! The scenes in this book told from his point of view are absolutely hilarious. I laughed out loud so many times and might have even snorted a few times. Love ❤️, love ❤️, loved it ❤️! Mrs. White's characters Barclay and Margot from previous books have remained alone on their pedestal of my favorites of her characters for quite some time, and I honestly wasn’t sure anyone would ever join them there, but Sheridan is firmly established on the pedestal now. This book was a treat from start to finish!

Oh my goodness! I enjoyed this book so much. I was so excited to see it and was so happy to pick up the characters from the earlier book. I enjoyed the storyline. I love the history and lore of the area. It made me want to hop a ship for an adventure if it wasn't for that pesky sea sickness I experience. Really though, this book was a treasure! It has suspense, romance and the love of family poured into its pages. I am just in love with the precious grandma and want to claim her as my own. Thank you Roseanna White.

To Treasure an Heiress is the funniest book I have read by Roseanna M. White! All of her books are a delight, but this one in particular was just fun to escape in for a while.
Beth is a wanderer and always in search of her next adventure. Little does she know, Lord Sheridan is exactly what she has been looking for! Their chemistry and bantering truly had me laughing out loud. Lord Sheridan is so witty, kind, and generous. I loved watching the friendship grow and seeing Beth realize how much more there was to Lord Sheridan than met the eye. I felt transported to the islands while reading. The descriptions are vivid and realistic. The characters are full of depth and felt real. There was so much creativity woven all throughout this book, it was difficult to find a good stopping point and before I knew it, I was at the end.
I loved returning to the Isles of Scilly and picking up right where The Nature of A Lady left off and catching up on some previous characters. I do recommend reading the first book in order to fully appreciate all this book has to offer.

Goodness, did I love this story! I was giggling from the get-go at Sheridan’s antics and Beth’s back and forth banter with him. The plot itself was fun, kept me turning pages and left me wanting more story for book three. I absolutely adored the secondary storyline going on here with Senara and Ainsley. Heavy biblical themes of what real repentance is and looks like, living forgiven and moving on from our sinful choices. All of my favorites from book one were here and just as charming as ever. This one was a delight from start to finish!

Beth Tremayne is an heiress in the Isles of Scilly. around 1900 who is interested in the pirate tales told by her grandparents told her along with other local lore. She has enjoyed trying to track down pirate treasure and follow clues from records and stories. Lord Sheridan. is a recent houseguest who is also fascinated with the tales Beth is researching and has the funds to get more exploration done. Meanwhile, some less scrupulous aristocracy is trying to steal information from them and beat them to their dig sites. As they work out this mystery with family and friends, they find an affinity for each other -- they are perfectly suited to each others' life styles and enjoy the same things. This is a very entertaining story because Lord Sheridan has a marvelous sense of humor and also is a bit of an introvert that blurts out what he is thinking. Totally enjoyable read!

Another riveting tale from Roseanna M. White! To Treasure an Heiress is wonderfully romantic, inspirational, and humorous. I just couldn’t put this one down.

I was greatly intrigued by Sheridan in the first book in this series (The Nature of a Lady), and it took me about two pages to fall in love with him in this story. His character is written so well, and his romance with Beth is adorably funny and swoony. I love that I can always count on getting to know wonderful characters when I open one of White’s books. It will be a tough wait for book three (I’m sensing I’ll also fall in love with Bram), but it will definitely be worth it.

If you haven’t read one of White’s books yet, do yourself a favor and pick one up now. Her books are amazing and will stay in your mind long after you read the last page. I know I can’t wait for more! 4.5/5 stars

TO TREASURE AN HEIRESS is the second novel in the Secrets of the Isles series by ROSEANNA M WHITE and what a delightful read it is! Full of romance, intrigue, humour, and treasure hunting, with some wonderful, and some not so wonderful, characters, and a strong Christian message - what more could you possibly need? Although it is not necessary to read the first book in the series as this novel can easily stand alone, I suggest you do so for pure pleasure.
The story takes place in the Scilly Isles in 1906 with Beth Tremayne following her extensive clues to try and find the pirate, John Mucknell’s, treasure, which is tied to a sad love story of 1650 with prince Rupert leaving his beloved wife, Briallen, to go to sea in an effort to restore his uncle to the British throne. Beth feels possessive of “her” secret search, but ends up sharing it with her family and the insufferable Lord Sheridan.
Her friend Emily’s villainous family, in particular her spoilt and wicked brother Nigel Scofield, are equally determined to find the treasure. They bring betrayal and danger into the mix, as opposed to the strong family values and ties of friendship in the Tremayne camp. What I particularly like is the way the servsnts are treated as friends and equals on the island, and I love to see Sheridan’s relationship with his valet, Ainsley, as well as the marquess’s lovely sense of humour. I love Mamm-wynn and Mrs Dawe’s godly and gentle guidance in Beth and Senara’s dilemmas.
The author has captured the wild beauty of the islands as a backdrop to this exciting and inspirational story.
I cannot recommend To Treasure an Heiress highly enough.

Oh my gosh, LOVED this story! I don't even know where to begin. Absolutely, delightful writing! I fell in love with Sheridan. I loved his sweet, charming, and funny ways. He and Beth are a match in every way. And he was lovely with her grandma too. It was completely enjoyable watching their relationship unfold (she hated him at the start) in this fantastic page-turning story by Roseanna M. White. Adventures, danger, treasure hunts, humor, family, and love make this a book I just couldn't put down!

I cannot tell you how many bookmarks I have marked in this story! Such great conversations and quotes. I highlighted so many.

Except for the "odious" bad guys, the entire cast of characters is delightful, they are authentic, charming and relatable. I loved the gentle faith arc throughout the story. I can't remember when I enjoyed a book so thoroughly.

Fans of historical fiction will LOVE 'To Treasure an Heiress' by author Roseanna M. White. I think it may be my favorite of hers yet!

This was such a fun book! I loved the banter between the characters. To Treasure an Heiress is the second book in Roseanna M White’sThe Secrets of the Isles series. Okay, so I loved this book! It was so funny and interesting!
Beth Tremayne has been searching for an adventure since she was a child, she dreamed of finding love in London’s ballroom. Now she dreams of finding a lost treasure. However, her dreams are interrupted by her family’s guest, Lord Sheridan. Lord Sheridan enjoys pursuing whatever archaeological interest catches his imagination. When he learns that Beth’s search for lost treasure connects to one of his favorite pirates of history, he can’t help but get involved. He also found Beth irresistible and even finds himself falling for her. As Sheridan and Beth search for treasure, they start to piece together a story of tragic love and practical adventure, but they never expected to find each other.
Sheridan was a crack up. Iloved him in this book! He was kind and funny, and I loved his little quirks. He was an Earl, but he never used his position to lord over others. He was such a sweet guy, and it was so funny to read from his perspective. I also adored his relationship with Libby’ brother, Lord Telford. Sheridan did have to learn to see those around him, and be willing to admit mistakes. He was such a real and fun character. I loved reading about his interactions with others, and it was so sweet to read about him falling for Beth.
I was a little unsure about Beth at first because of the first book, but I came to really like her. Beth was stubborn and feisty, but she also loved her family. She was always seeking adventure, but she came to find pleasure in the little things, spending time with her family and those who love her. Beth was searching for a treasure, and she didn’t know how to let others help her. However, she soon came to see the value of her friends and family. It was sweet to read about Beth falling for Sheridan. She definitely didn’t see it coming. Beth had to learn how to trust God and not let her personal feelings lead her.
Sheridan and Beth were so much fun to read about. They had great chemistry, and I loved their character development. They felt real and relatable. They were both human and they made mistakes, but they were also trying to learn from their mistakes. They had to learn what it meant to worship God and give him their best throughout everyday life. I really liked how White was able to weave in faith elements without taking away from the story. The characters’ faith felt real and yet it was not overpowering.
I also really enjoyed the side characters in this story. Sheridan’s valet was hilarious and I really enjoyed his moments, along with Telford (I hope he gets his own book). The storyline was really interesting and I could not put this book down. I was enthralled in the treasure hunt and seeing how everything would resolve itself. There are still some loose ends and I can’t wait to read the next book.
To Treasure an Heiress was a great book! I would totally recommend it! It is even better than the first book, and it has made me even more excited for the next book. To Treasure an Heiress is a clean, historical, Christian book.
