I highly anticipated this book and it had a lot of really amazing moments. But there were also a lot of slow moments where I found myself putting it down and scrolling my phone instead. Overall I still would recommend it because I love the overall story.

Liv does everything to be perfect… she wears the right clothes, eats the healthiest food and works the longest hours. When this chronic-yes woman finally decides to say no, her life spirals out of control. Just when Liz thinks her life couldn’t get much worse, she falls for her longtime, totally off limits, best friend.

FRIENDS TO LOVERSSSSSS he’s been pining after her for YEARSSSSS (11 to be exact). This book was such a great quick read!!!! If you like people we meet on vacation - pick up From the Jump!

Thanks to Net Galley for this arc in exchange for an honest review:)

I'm very unsure of my feelings about this book. The beginning was very slow and I wasn't sure how I felt about the characters. I actually did enjoy the romance and seeing it develop but I think this book could have benefited from dual pov. Also I do not understand why any of them are friends with simone, she's annoying.

I received an arc through netgalley.

OH MY HEART! If Lacie Waldon every stops writing books I am going to stop reading. (Okay that's a bit dramatic but like, I need these books in my life.)
.
From the Jump is pure delight and I enjoyed every single page. I am SO picky when it comes to romance novels, but Waldon has a way of hooking me and investing me deeply in her characters - and that character connection is what I love the most. I found all the characters in this book, even Simone, to be likable and relatable. The chemistry is so well done and aptly flushed out, and this chemistry is what made it hard for me to put down her first book, The Layover, and now her second book, From the Jump. Waldon also gives me a dose of wanderlust, and I love being able to travel in these stories and live vicariously through the characters.
.
This story has some of my favorite tropes, found family, forced proximity, and friends-to-lovers. I am a sucker for friends-to-lovers and the romance and rapport between Liv and Lucas is spot on and gave me all the feels. Honestly, I just had to finish this book ASAP - I didn't want to spend time doing anything else (and isn't that the best feeling when you're reading??).
.
Folks, for a light-hearted, swoony sweet read, don't pass this one up. Thank you to Putnam for the e-arc, this book releases July 19, 2022!

I really enjoyed Lacie Waldon's first book, The Layover, and was excited to dive into this one. There were many appealing elements: a large friend group, travel, slow burn, friends-to-lovers, and light banter. However, the plot and pacing jumped around a bit and I often didn't feel immersed in the story. Deiss and Liv were sweet and I think readers will have fun with this contemporary romance.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is a charming romance that includes a friends to lovers story, with a record shop and trip to Africa. I enjoyed this story so much. It was the perfect read for rain day to cheer up my mood.

If you like Emily Henry, you’ll LOVE this book! This is the perfect friends-to-lovers story including a indie record shop and an impromptu trip to Africa. I know I just finished it, but I already feel the need to re-read it (a rarity only achieved recently by The Unhoneymooners and Beach Read).

Big thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for sending me an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Quick and easy bullet point review!

•Friends to lovers (done well!)

•Fantastic chemistry between the two leads

•Uptight/laid back combo is golden

•Found family in her friendship circle

•loved the trip to South Africa!

•loved how she slowly let herself relax her rules she kept for herself

•Deiss is fantastic

The main conflict felt a little unresolved in the end. The characters involved seem to let things go too easily in my opinion. But, a small gripe. Very readable and fun romance! Can’t wait to read her first book!

What fun to get a front row seat to protagonist Liv as she dips her toes and then jumps head first into loosening up on her deeply rooted perfectionism. Best friend Deiss is there to support her along the way. Could their friendship turn into something more?

This was fun. I love all of the friendships in this book. I felt very satisfied after reading this. I can't wait to see what Lacie does next!

This charming romance will empower anyone who has always felt pressure to do what is expected of us (and isn't that most of us?). Great characters and an interesting nature setting make it even better. I look forward to recommending this title.

When I saw that Lacie Waldon was coming out with a new book, I immediately requested that ARC. I really enjoyed reading The Layover and knew From the Jump would have the same type of vibe. I wasn’t disappointed! It was a really good book!

I liked the character development of Liv and how she stopped listening to others about what she should be doing, wearing, etc. I especially liked the friend group (at times). However, I just couldn’t get on board with Deiss. I tried really hard to like him as a love interest, but to be honest, I thought they were better as friends. It didn’t seem like they had a connection.

It was a cute book, but to me, it was not a romance book. Which I don’t mind, but going into it, I thought there would be a lot more romance than what I got out of it. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a light and fun read!

Loved this book! The character development from their decade long friendship was really well done. Loved the ending and couldn’t put it down

This book was a cute, sweet, quick read. I love friends to lovers and liked the characters. I did think the book missed out on some more explanation from the love interest and could have benefited from a dual POV. After 11 years of friendship I wanted more explanation for his feelings. Overall, the book could have had more depth.

This was a delightfully swoony book about two members of a group of friends from undergrad realizing they have more than platonic feelings for each other. The main couple is well-rounded with back stories that pay off their relationship quirks. I would have liked to go a bit deeper with the peripheral friends, which would have helped illustrate why they all stayed such good friends over the years. Overall, very worth the read.

From the Jump asks the question of what happens when you stop doing everything you think you’re supposed to do and just start living your life. Olivia is defined by being the girl that follows the rules. She’s your typical people pleaser who doesn’t know how to say no. Then one day everything changes - Olivia finds herself without a job and on a plane to explore Africa with her closest friends.

Best thing about this book is Deiss to me. I love his sense of humor and his carefree attitude - he’s a perfect example of a man written by a woman! Overall, the friend group was wonderful, but Simone is a bad friend and I don’t forgive her for the things that she has done and I wish the other characters would hold her more responsible for her behavior and mistakes.

If you’re reading this book for romance I think it’s only fair that you know this book is a slooooooowburn romance. I’m not going to lie I would have appreciated more romance throughout the book. But I truly enjoyed Deiss and Olivia’s buildup, everything between them felt genuine. I loved that Deiss knew Olivia so well that he could just see things about her that other’s couldn’t.

I mentioned earlier about the triggers but I want to state again that Olivia is very restrictive about her eating and she does talk a lot about her appearance. This could be triggering for someone who currently or has struggled with ED.

This book was so cute, I really loved the main romance in it, but I also really loved the story of the side characters as well. It's really nice to see a group of college friends grow up and the dynamics of the friendships and relationships between them, even though they all have different lives and careers. Liv and Deiss’s relationship and romance are so cute I could read about them all day. Thank you so much NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for a chance to read this!

I loved the Layover so I was pumped to get the chance to read this book! This was a great slow burn friends-to-lovers trope! I loved the witty banter and dialogue between all the character. Deiss has definitely made it onto my book boyfriend list 😍🔥

I enjoyed this book as it delved into friendships and how the characters interact with each other. It was more focused on the relationships and friendships and not the romance so it was a nice surprise.

I enjoyed Waldon’s first book, but this entire story felt off to me. The feasibility of the setup of this story felt so unrealistic; her entire life is stolen? C’mon. I can believe a good deal, but this was a severe stretch. I felt no romantic chemistry, and the 11 year friendships just didn’t feel genuine. I found myself rooting for no one by the end.

Hoping this was just a sophomore slump. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
