I struggled with this book. Yes, this is the first book out of the series that I read but it was very easy to grasp what went down in the first book. First of all it felt very similar to Ice Planet Barbarians only with aliens that "shift" rather than are blue and models rather than random women. The main female character is traumatized and suffering from over the top PTSD of "monsters" back home to a point of mental regression. As someone who has dealt with her own monsters, I found this character difficult to connect to and enjoy the story.

The Queen of Monsters was the first book in this series that I read, but the story held enough clues of the first book that I didn't feel lost in the world-building. The protagonist, Natalia, is one of a group of women from Earth who were kidnapped by aliens. The Tarrassians were another group of aliens who rescued them, and keep doing so by the looks of it.

This is a HEA romance with deep themes and a love triangle. Natalia knows who she loves all along, but the boys make it complicated for a lot of the book. I like how the character developed and the relationship helped make her stronger. Overall, a good read.

This was a NetGalley review.

First and foremost, thank you to the publisher, the Author and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in place of an honest review.

This book was really good for sure 18+ as it has erotic scenes. I loved the character building and the uniqueness of the story! Natalia is a really great character and I love the build and suspense of the love triangle between characters that wanted each other and didn't want each other. The back and forth always makes for such a good story when it comes to romance.

Including the Sphinx who you really fall in love with and feel for. I love fantasy and it always makes for better erotic stories! I love the twists and turns and things that pop up that you never expect now im ready for the next!

This is my first Aliens romance and I have to say I'm impressed. I would absolutely read the next book in this series.

Ideally, I would dislike Natalie and her personality but I adored her honesty about herself. I appreciate that.
This story had many facets and personal discoveries.

All in all, I enjoyed it.

This is a very good book, it such a refreshing sight amongst the fantasy books. Mixing Greek mythology with the character of the Sphinx will definitely provide a lot of interest amongst young adults. The character Natalia breaks through so many stereotypes and does not fit into any of these categories: hero/saviour/princess. She is strong character mentally, yet it is not something she is aware of, she is just a woman who understands herself.

Aside from the unique characters this book has darker themes throughout to explore which you can see will develop in the whole series. You can see how the author has pulled experiences and examples from reality into her writing and despite the setting as different alien worlds, it feels scarily similar to the world around us. I am excited and terrified to see what she writes next.

The scenery and descriptions are so vivid and I could not stop thinking of Natalia's pink dress, the author successfully uses colours to compliment each character and the different alien species. The cover really helps bring the picture all together and the artist actually worked on The Game of Thrones TV show!

The erotic scenes definitely earn the 18+ recommendation but it's such a shame because I feel this book would be a great target to teens and young adults. A few years ago 0where all I read was fantasy and romance novels) this book would have been my dream.

I've posted reviews on Amazon, Waterstones and Goodreads.

Could not read or finish due to extenuating circumstances. I have created a book identity for it on Goodreads though, so it should now at least be visible to other realtors who are interested in reading it.
