This book is a masterclass on artist/legend memoir. You can go into this with almost no knowledge of hip hop or the turntable itself, and come out learning a little history, a little music theory, and a lot of love. Perfect.

This is one of the best books about popular music I have read in the last decade. I learned a great deal about J Dilla's influence on hip hop, pop, R&B, jazz and other genres of music. It's a brilliant mixture of biography and musicology. Really well done. I have already recommended it to a number of my musician friends.
