I enjoyed this story and found it rather unique, but it was slightly slow-moving. It was different from other stories in that the Bodyguard was a female guarding a male star. It included some mystery and intrigue which added to the book. I would like to read more of Katherine Center's books as this was my first.

Review of The Bodyguard by Katherine Center:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Stuck working with her ex, Hannah is forced into a job that she has no desire working. She wants the promotion and to get as far away from her ex as possible but instead, she’s stuck having to prove that she deserves the promotion more than her ex. Enter Jack Stapleton. Everyone knows who Jack Stapleton is and everyone wants to be near him. Everyone except for Hannah. Problem is - her job is to protect him from a stalker. What better bodyguard than someone who can blend in and act as his girlfriend? But it’s only a matter of time before the acting turns into real feelings.

The Bodyguard is literally a Hallmark movie waiting to be made. Fake dating, stuck working with your ex, crazed stalker, closed-door romance, and a tragic accident all rolled up into a few hundred pages. The gender role reversal was a refreshing element and the world that Katherine Center built around Jack and Hannah was so easy to fall into. That said, I could have done with a little more smut sprinkled in. The little details that circle back to make a well-rounded story just top it off.

I enjoyed the beginning but got lost about halfway through. I love Katherine Center’s writing style but this one just wasn’t for me.

I can always count on Katherine Center for an addictive & engrossing read. I devour her books and I don’t know why I haven’t picked something up off her backlist (they’re on my shelf) because I have loved her 4 most recent books. Emotional, heartwarming, and just what I needed. I loooved the characters & storyline and just getting to know escape for a bit.

The Bodyguard by Katherine Center is a heartwarming book that has lots of humour and a great message. If you enjoy a fake dating trope, then this book is definitely one to add to your list. It is jam-packed with enjoyable characters and warm fuzzies.

Books that are upbeat fun to read have been the ones that I veer towards these days, and Katherine Center has knack for writing laugh out loud stories. Even thought this book has an emotional aspect to it, the plot has a positive style that really balances things out nicely. The banter between Hannah and Jack is just perfect and provides most of the funny elements in the book.

❀ UNIQUE MAIN CHARACTER

Hannah’s character is really unique, and I don’t think that I have read about a female bodyguard before. She is a strong and resilient character who is getting over a recent breakup and coming to terms with the death of her estranged mother. Jack, on the other hand, is an interesting and enjoyable character that has a lot of issues that he is struggling with since the death of his younger brother. These two characters work really well together and I really enjoyed watching them fall for each other.

❀ STRONG FAMILY THEME

Another wonderful aspect of this book is the strong family theme that resonates throughout. Jack’s family is really close and they seem to easily adopt Hannah right into their world, which is sweet and lovely to read about. The way this family rallies around one another makes for a heart-warming story.

❀ WILL LEAVE A SMILE ON YOUR FACE

The Bodyguard by Katherine Center is a perfect read if you enjoy a fake dating story that will leave you with a smile on your face. The characters are enjoyable and the theme of family makes it a heartening read. I look forward to reading the author’s next book.

Katherine Center has become an automatic must-read author for me! The Bodyguard was fun, funny, and full of all the romantic charm I've come to love about her books. I couldn't stop reading, and couldn't get enough of Hannah and Jack's "relationship". Center always builds a really solid and colorful cast of characters - which just makes the whole reading experience so satisfying. I can't wait to read whatever is coming next for her!

This book was the perfect read to get me out of my slump! I was instantly hooked into the storyline and really enjoyed the main characters. I really fell in love with their relationship as the book went on. I thought this was a great romance read that wasn't overly complicated and was decently realistic in regards to the relationship. I have been recommending it to my romance reader friends!

I really enjoyed this humorous romantic comedy featuring Hannah, a bodyguard, and her latest client, a famous very handsome actor, Jack. This author was new to me but I will definitely start reading other books she writes. Recommended.

So I liked this one a lot. It was super fun and cute. The twist at the end was great and really shocked me for a moment. I just wish it had had a teeny bit of spice to it.

I enjoy Katherine Center's books quite a lot. She is an auto read author for me. This book was no exception. It was fun, and I liked how the relationship developed between the characters. Her female characters are always well thought out and strong women. The fake dating trope is always fun. Overall, a fun romance!

This was a lighthearted delight of a book. The premise sounded very unlikely, but surprisingly, when you start reading, it works and you can actually believe it. I loved the banter, the giggles, the fun of it.

Here's a quote from the scene where our pretend girlfriend meets Jack's parents for the first time:

Jack turned then and gave me the dreamiest, most lovestruck look I'd ever seen. ... "I saw that feisty, stumpy little lady climb out of her Land Rover with five hundred cameras, and I just knew."
I frowned. "Did you just call me 'stumpy'?"
"In a good way, Stumps," Jack said.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
"In a loveable way," Jack insisted. "In an adorable, irresistible, how-can-I-get-this-little-lady-trapped-in-my-mountain-cabin way." Then he turned to his parents, grabbed me in a headlock that messed up my already messy bun, and said, "Look how cute she is."
"I am not stumpy," I said helplessly.
But Jack's mother was totally on board.

Katherine Center never disappoints! Five feel-good stars! Thanks to Netgalley for my free copy of the book.

Center as always does not disappoint. The bodyguard is a well written novel about Hannah, the one you would never suspect to be a bodyguard who could disarm and stop anyone who comes toward her charge. She is charged with protecting is a celebrity who has recently fallen off the grid due to personal tragedy, and needs to keep his location undercover as he visits his sick mother and not wanting her to discover he has a deadly stalker. The best way to go about this is to pretend hannah is his girlfriend. When sparks fly they can't deny their connection and Hannah is put to the test.

The Bodyguard by Katherine Center is one of the best fun romances I’ve read this year. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it is certainly not the last. This book is funny, unconventional, and full of heart. It was well plotted and the characters come alive. I highly recommend it. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

I don't believe I've ever given a Katherine Center book less than five stars, and The Bodyguard was no less.

It was everything I expect out of her stories, sweet yet quirky, slow burn yet fulfilling and most of all emotionally intelligent and focusing on realistic positivity. The laughter was there, so were the tears, and OMG that kissing scene - just perfect. I agree there are a few unrealistic parts, but guys, it's fiction, it's supposed to make you feel good, so I have no complaints.

I can't wait for her next book to come out, and meanwhile I'll go reread her backlist.

Is there anything Katherine Center can't do?

Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the copy to review

A romcom at its finest. Center taps into eccentric characters, fun dysfunctional workers, love, family, and just an all around feel good book.
The characters are exceedingly witty and likeable, while the plot wasn't over the top or "cheesy", as some romcoms tend to be. Witty and smart banter kept me laughing and turning pages day in and out.

Loved this story!

The Bodyguard is a completely charming romantic comedy that I can absolutely see as a future movie. Hannah is a badass bodyguard who lives to protect others and Jack, a famous, handsome actor, is her latest client. In The Bodyguard Hannah must balance her professionalism in her field, needs of her client, and wants of her heart. It's such a sweet, entertaining read that it makes me sad I finished it so quickly.

The chokehold that this story has on me. The Bodyguard had me laughing out loud from the first chapter! Our introduction to Hannah Brooks captivated me and I wanted to know more about her. It was clear that she was a complicated character and I loved the growth that we see throughout the story. And of course, I'm a big fan of Jack. The fake-dating trope is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint!
A great mix of emotion, romance, and humor, this was a wonderful read!
