Jen Turano has outdone herself again! Another of her books has captured my heart.

Turano has penned yet one more delightfully charming mystery and suspense novel that will keep you on tenterhooks through the majority of the plot. The novel captures your attention from the very first sentence and does not let go until the very last page.

To Disguise the Truth is book three of "The Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency" series. (However, you could read it as a standalone.) You would, however, miss out on the genius that is Jen Turano, which, in my opinion, would be a tragedy.

The female prime mover in this iteration, Eunice Holbrooke, is droll, sharp and extremely entertaining.
Her nemesis, Arthur Livingston, is the perfect foil for her. They are both knowledgeable enough to keep each other on their toes. In addition, their pointed and quick-witted comebacks made for a delightful read.

I enjoyed getting to know Eunice’s back-story as she’s always been an enigmatic, inexplicably mysterious person with a lot to discover. Turano clarified Eunice’s history in an adroit way, thus satisfactorily answering all my questions.

I received an advanced review copy of this book from NetGalley and Bethany House. All opinions are my own and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

To Disguise the Truth, final installment of the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency by Jen Turano is the perfect companion for a cozy winter evening by the fire. Easily stands on its own, this novel is even better if read following the first two books of the series.

Finally readers are offered the background of Eunice Holbrooke, the mysterious owner of the agency. Their latest client wants to hire them to find a missing heiress. It doesn’t take long to figure out that Arthur Livingston wants Eunice to help him find herself and from that point hilarity and mystery run amok.

I always love Turano’s books with their quirky characters, and the perfect blend of history, mystery, comedy, and romance. I know I can usually also expect a few dialogue interludes that can be both hilarious and frustrating as certain characters tend to get their wires crossed in their attempts to communicate.

Familiar characters as well as some new favorites fill the pages of To Disguise the Truth. The plot moves along at a mostly steady rate with so many twists and turns it is sometimes difficult to keep it all straight. A bit of action and danger add to the fun and a surprise or two are in store. All’s well that ends well and that’s all I have to say about it.

I loved this book but if you have not read the two previous books, I do recommend that you pick up the entire series and read in order. You will thank me later!

Jen Turano's books are always a breath of fresh air in the otherwise crowded genre of historical romance. Her screwball-comedy spin on the genre never fails to deliver plenty of laughs as well as heart. Always recommended!

My first Jen Turano book, A friend of mine recommended her to me, so I was excited to find one of her books on Netgalley. Turano has a quirky sense of humour and it was refreshing. The story has a bit of mystery, family turmoil, wild west and high society. The faith elements were light and I could have used more. I may have scored the book higher, had I read the rest of the series but even as a stand alone, I enjoyed this story and could follow the plot with no issues.

Eunice Holbrooke has been running from her past for years and she would have kept running…if her past hadn’t just walked into her office. Will she confront her past and finally solve the mystery that has plagued her for years?

I’m a long time fan of Jen Turano’s books. She always brings level of action and humor that is not common in christian romance books. The comedic antics of her characters and the ability of the book to not take itself too seriously is what I’ve always enjoyed about her works.

That being said, this book was a miss for me. It felt a bit slower than her other books and had less tension and action. Even though I didn’t love this book, I will definitely continue reading her books.

Pros:
-I didn’t guess the murder mystery until right before it was revealed.
-There were multiple side plots that caught my attention and I would fly through that part of the story.

Cons:
-The dialogue felt a little stilted and I felt like there were multiple unnecessary conversations that slowed down the pace of the book.
-I wish there was more action or a quicker pace.

Humor, murder, mystery, and lots of mayhem!!

I always know that picking up and reading a Jen Turano book means a delightful, humor-filled time. And more than likely I'll catch myself chuckling out loud. This book was no exception!

Eunice is quite the character with a less than impressive past. She's taken on an alibi in hopes of keeping herself alive. It's worked for quite a few years, but then her past catches up with her.

She joins forces with Arthur, and they set off on a journey to find her grandfather's murderer and regain her rightful inheritance.
But this is a Jen Turano story. There are lots of bumps along the way!

To Disguise the Truth was written by Jen Turano, and is book three in The Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency. It is not necessary to have read the first two books in order to enjoy this one, but I do recommend both of those books.

Summary: Eunice Holbrooke’s past has finally caught up with her. After years of disguising herself as a veiled widow to keep away prying eyes, a man from her past has arrived at The Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency determined to hire them to find……her. She tries to turn down the case, but he won’t take no for an answer. Should she run? Should she reveal herself?

Arthur Livingston made a promise to find a missing heiress many years ago. Everyone he has hired over the years has come up empty, but with time running out, he makes one last desperate plea at the agency. Can he find her before it’s too late?

My Thoughts: This book is a little different in style than the previous Jen Turano books I have read. The main character is not as flighty or quirky as many of the author’s main characters tend to be. Eunice is more tough as nails-and brave enough to stand up to just about anyone-except her family.

While I like the author’s previous books, I found I liked this one even better. Eunice’s character is so multi-faceted, and she really meets her match when it comes to Mr. Livingston. There is also a really great who-dun-it mystery to this book that I really enjoyed.

This one is my favorite Jen Turano book, and I would definitely recommend it!

I would like to thank Bethany House for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you!

Prior to reading To Disguise the Truth, I read a YA fantasy that was a little too similar to the bleak social and political events that are currently happening in the world. I was left feeling heavy of heart and anxious. I was in need of light reading material that would act as a temporary escape from reality. To Disguise the Truth was the perfect escape.

This story is told almost entirely through dialogue, so it felt a bit like reading the script of a melodrama where the audience gets to boo for the villains and cheer for the good guys. There wasn’t any intense dramatic tension or subtly of plot to get me wound up, but there was a lot of humour and fun banter between characters. This was just pure fun!

Thank you NetGalley and Bethany house for providing me with a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

I am reviewing a copy of To Disguise the Truth through Bethany House Publishers and Netgalley:

Eunice Holbrooke realizes her past has finally caught up with her, when a man arrives at the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency, anxious to hire them to find a missing heiress. And it brings her to the realization that she may no longer be able to hide under the disguise that has kept her safe for so long.

Arthur Livingston's has a goal in life, to make his mark on the world as a mining industrialist, but after the man who could help him achieve his goal is murdered. Arthur is compelled to seek justice for the family but he's left with more questions than answers after the eccentric Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency refuses to take on his case.

In desperation to hide her identity from Arthur, Eunice takes on a different case that requires her to go deep undercover and entangles her in one troublesome situation after another. When other secrets come to light, Eunice has no choice but to confront her past, hopeful that it will set her free but knowing it could very well place her life and the lives of those she loves in jeopardy.

I give To Disguise the Truth Five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Nobody does eccentric historical humor like Jen Turano! Going in you know exactly what you are going to get except you have no idea just how it will play out!
Eunice has been quite the mysterious character in the first books of this series so it was fun to get to finally know her backstory and get a better look at who she was. She was definitely independent and tenacious but she also had a softer side that had been mostly hidden as she kept a low profile.
I wasn’t sure what to make of Arthur at first but he quickly grew on me and I liked the way he was determined to see to Eunice’s safety and best interests.
They made a strong couple and I liked them together!
There were some parts of the story that confused me as to why they were included since they didn’t seem necessary and were overly detailed. And things definitely got a little chaotic at the end but that’s par for the course with a Turano novel!
Overall this was a fun read and a satisfying conclusion to the series!

Here we finally have Eugiene’s story. This is the third in the series although you can get away with reading it without reading the first two. If you enjoy this author’s style of writing, this book won’t disappoint you. I personally find it to be filled with too much dialogue. Nearly the entire book is dialogue, but this is consistent with this author’s style so if you like her, you’ll enjoy this book. I found myself skimming a lot of it just to get through the copious amount of dialogue and I don’t feel like I missed much.

Eunice Holbrooke's past catches up with her when a man comes to hire her to find herself!

Arthur Livingston is shocked when the Bleaker Street Inquiry Agency refuses his case, but he is intrigued by the eccentric and mysterious woman behind the veil. As Eunice's past becomes impossible to ignore they must fight together to discover the truth.

Jen Turano is back again with another delightfully humorous adventure. I loved getting to know Eunice better in this book, finally discovering some of the secrets from her past. Arthur is a kind and honorable man, and he doesn't mind going off on tangents with Eunice.

Overall this is such a fun read, though at times I thought that off topic conversations could run too long into distraction. I loved the humor and interactions, this was a fun read, and didn't disappoint!

I received a complimentary ecopy of this book. My opinions are my own.

Neither east nor west is quite ready for them!

I have been anticipating and dreading To Disguise The Truth in equal measures for months now. Anticipating because I've been super curious about the mysterious Eunice Holbrooke and her rather murky past from her introduction in the first book. Dreading because I knew it would be the final novel in The Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency series and I am beyond reluctant to say goodbye this group of intrepid, resourceful, and sometimes comical group of women.

Every single time I read one of Jen Turano's books I say it's my favorite and that's no less true about this one. Each of The Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency books has been my favorite and each time for a different reason. Every single one has been fun, charming, witty, delightful, and captivating. To Disguise The Truth was all of that and a little bit more! Plus it had to most interesting settings, from a New York City ladies boarding house to an artist's commune to a ranch in the wild wild west. In Jen Turano's best style it's all comedy, danger, and romance from there on out!

As I think you can probably already tell from my ever so slight gushing (wink), I fell in love with Eunice...Eugenia..Sunshine...whatever her name is, and Arthur right off the bat. I laughed my way through their reluctantly flying sparks, shook my head at their antics, and gave out a sigh of satisfaction at the final happy ending.

To Disguise The Truth as a completely enjoyable and delicious read. It had everything that I've come to love in a Jen Turano book, including a few unexpected surprises, and it was the perfect conclusion to The Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency series. Honestly, I can't recommend it highly enough...

When I read a book by Jen Turano, I know I will be treated to a funny, fast paced, non-stop entertaining, wonderful read. I am always delightfully surprised by her wit, her spunky characters and the storylines that keep me turning pages as fast as I can. This author never disappoints.

This is Eunice’s story and what a story it is! The dressing in widow’s weeds and weeping veils is quite clever of her and quite honestly in her best interest, that is until Arthur Livingston comes along and everything could come crashing down on her if her true identity is discovered. Naturally, there are some surprises along the way, more than a little danger and a lot more laughter. I have loved everything about this series and am sorry to see it. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Turano has in store for her readers in the future.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy. All opinions are my own.

To Disguise the Truth is the third book in Jen Turano’s The Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency historical romance series.

I’ve been enjoying this series and couldn’t wait for Eunice’s story. In short, it was fabulous!

The humor hit me just right and Arthur’s transformation is excellent. Then there’s Eunice herself. I liked her before this book, but she is even better when we can see from her point of view! And the fact that she shot Arthur before she fled Montana? Just perfect!

If you need a bit of humor mixed with your happily ever after, then definitely grab a copy of To Disguise the Truth. The title hints at the deeper side of this book, which I also loved. All-in-all, this is one I look forward to rereading in the future.

It has been too long since I've picked up a book by Jen Turano, even though I know I love her. The wit and humor in her books always have me in a good mood, and even laughing out loud in inopportune moments. I wish I had started reading this particular series from book 1, as I have no doubt I would have loved the characters and their development exponentially, but picking up in book 3 did not detract in any way from the delight that I found in To Disguise the Truth. A defining characteristic in Jen Turano books is women who know their own mind, and Eunice sure fits that mold, even down to sneaking into an insane asylum. I loved getting straight to the heart of the conflict from the very first words, and the author even snuck in a mystery surrounding the reading of a will in a way that gave me Agatha Christie vibes towards the end. (If AC were, you know, funnier...) Every single twist of this story made it more endearing, and I was laughing so hard. And what's great is that somehow every single character had a multi-faceted personality just to surprise you. A splendid first read of February. Bottom line? Go for it if you enjoy witty humor, independent ladies, romantic fellas, and the Gilded Age and Wild West shaken into a delightful cocktail.

(PS no matter how annoyed you are with your father, maybe Sunshine isn't the best revenge legal middle name to give your kid!)

I could not wait to read this book! Opening a book by Turano always makes me giddy, knowing what a treat I am in for. To Disguise the Truth is the third book in the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency series, and I have immensely enjoyed each story. I first met Eunice in To Steal a Heart and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her story. She is one of the most unique characters I’ve had the chance to get to know. She always takes me by surprise, and I can’t help but love her. If you haven’t read the first two novels I suggest you do because they are amazing, but you won’t have to read them to enjoy this one.

Eunice is one of the most private people, she has her reasons, and wants to keep it that way. When she opened up the Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency she was forced to come a little more out of her shell. Wearing widows weeds most of the time keeps her beauty hidden, but when her past catches up, will it be enough? Arthur walking through their door was the last thing she expected, and I loved watching how they interacted. I enjoyed every moment I spent reading this book, and can’t wait to see what Turano does next. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Finally! It’s time to learn Eunice’s secrets! Arthur Livingston arrives at the Bleecker Street Detective Agency looking for help in location someone from his past. Thankfully Eunice is in her widow’s weeds and can not be recognized, because it’s her. He’s relentless and in true Turano form the humor is present throughout the book. From dialogue to quirky characters and situations. It’s always a joy to read this authors books, because I know I’ll get an adventure and smile my way through! My thoughts: what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. That was the theme of the story. An amusing historical mystery that held my interest the writing was rather stilted and the characters abrupt and not really likable at times but there were a lot of twists and turns that I never saw coming. I had to keep reading to find out who done it. I won't tell you whether I was right or not but maybe I was partially right. I would have liked to see more sexual attention, the romance seems rather flat, but for the first book that I've read by this particular áuthor it was interesting. I might or might not read more by her. If you like history mysteries then you would probably love this book. I was given a copy free and all opinions on my own.
