AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:
My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of the Audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion. Okay, so there is no way to post a separate review just for the Audiobook without getting flagged as having TWO reviews for the same book, so I am just going to add this review to the tail end of my main review! Please excuse any repeats:

The narrator, Natalie Naudus, really brings the book to life. Hux is even MORE appealing, if that is possible. I JUST LOVE THAT GUY!!!

I felt, once again, like I was hiking in the Sierras with these two bantering Special Investigators. I was truly entertained by this fast paced story. Claire Kells' masterful storytelling pulls you right into the beautiful untamed scenery and frosty mountainous temperatures. I was feeling Felicity Harland's pain as she tramped mile after mile in pursuit of clues as to the whereabouts of two missing glampers.

It does not look good for these high profile glampers, and things only go from bad to worse as the evidence points to a potential "off the grid" fanatic who may be taking overly drastic measures to ensure that visitors to the public park lands "leave no trace" - permanently!

Harland and Hux make a great team: their banter had me smiling and I could never seem to get enough of their scenes together. Each time it appeared that Hux would be sent back to his Park Ranger duties, I would wail, but Felicity was able to keep Hux in the investigation. Good thing, too. Every 5 foot tall investigator needs a 6 foot three sidekick to keep the bears away!

I enjoyed this book so much, I also decided to listen to the audiobook. (It was very well narrated. I love it when actors take on the narration, they make the story really come alive!)

I highly recommend this great, action packed read.
(I read Claire Kells' debut novel, Girl Underwater, and couldn't wait to read her next offering: she was THAT GOOD! Another stellar book - great job!)

This book was a page turner from beginning to end. Very captivating with amazing character development. Just wow. I did not want this book to end. A famous actress goes missing on a glamping trip in a remote area of a national park. And when the team starts to look, things just get even more weird….clues to an elusive murderer, what looks of a coverup, etc. and the ending - never ever saw it coming. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Felicity and Hux was such fun partners for this book and hopefully series! Harland is ex-FBI that starts a new job with Investigative Services Bureau aka NPS lands but she is a small women with a bad back about to head out into the wilderness of Sequoia National Park. Hux is former SEAL and now park ranger who finds a weird empty campsite that starts out the mystery of where did these people go. We get some twists and turns with some great mystery.

We get some other parks and crimes but the main one is Sequoia - and the ending makes me hopefully for more.

I enjoyed the audiobook and the narrator was wonderful.

A mystery where one isn’t quite sure the person dead was killed or just an accident while out in the Sequoia National Park near Precipice Lake. The dead woman is an actress, and it looks like the husband did it, as he’s older, needs money; and his wife was with another man on this glamping camping trip. Special Agent Felicity Harland with the Investigative Services Bureau, a park FBI type agency, is called out to find out what happened. Harland teams up with park ranger, and ex-Navy Seal, Huxley while they investigate despite being not entirely sure this was a murder or accident.

I was drawn to the book due to the background being in nature, the camping, trees and woods, but really this is an investigative story. It’s well done, and you get the backstory of the main characters interspersed with the main story and feel connection to these characters. The ending sets up nicely for this being the first book in a series, although nothing indicates that is the case. A decent book for anyone who likes police procedural type books.

The audio book was good, found the narration well done. It is an excellent option for reading this book.

In the book Vanishing Edge, author Claire Kells writes about former FBI agent Felicity Harland who after a tragic accident starts a new job as a federal agent with the Investigative Services Bureau. Harland is now responsible for investigating crimes which occur on National Parks land. When a park ranger discovers an abandoned exclusive campsite for wealthy clients, the investigation begins. Harland teams up with ex-Navy SEAL turned park ranger, Ferdinand Huxley to find out what happened to the campers. And when a body turns up, the race begins to find out if the death was an accident or were they in pushed?
This was a great story with incredible scenery. The audio-book narration was well done. I would recommend this book. I received a copy of this audio-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Vanishing Edge owes most of its appeal in its beautiful setting. I may be partial, but I spent some of my favorite summers with my dad in Three Rivers. It is a tiny and beautiful town. I am not much interested in glamping and the underlying mystery was unwound at a nice and steady pace.

Excellent book!!!! 5 stars hands down

It has been a long time since I've enjoyed this much a book from start to finish.
The book gripped me from the first pages. Felicity Harland, a former FBI agent is now a special agent for the Investigative Services Bureau. She gets a call to investigate the disappearance of some hikers that left their tent and all their belongings and are nowhere to be found. She is helped by Ferdinand Huxley, a former Navy SEAL who became a park ranger for personal reasons.

The dynamic between them is electric and fascinating. The story is written extremely well. It gives you enough information to keep you going, it throughs in a bit more exactly when you need it and it keeps you on the edge of the seat for most of the time.

I love the outdoors and i love mystery books. So this was a great combination for me. Although this subjects have been explored a lot by other authors, Claire Kells has done an exceptional job writing this novel in a fresh new way. The characters are extremely likeable and intelligent in a fun way. The story is captivating. And the ending is quite perfect. It leaves you wanting more. Looking forward to a future instalment.

The narrator has for the audio book is quite good. I can honestly say she enhanced the story.

She's definitely one of my favourite authors now. I am so looking forward to read the next book.

Netgalley and Dreamscape Media thank you so so so much for allowing me to read this awesome book!!!

Book has a strong, stupidly stubborn female main character. I felt the book went back and forth a lot and didn't seem realistic for a crime investigation. The main character had major back issues and it also didn't seem realistic that she would be in her position with that kind of medical restraints. Overall it was just ok.

Vanishing Edge by Claire Kells, Narrated by Natalie Naudus

As a federal agent with the Investigative Services Bureau, thirty-two-year-old Felicity Harland puts her extensive camping and hiking skills to use tackling crimes that occur on National Parks lands. Or at least she will be doing that. She's only been on the job a week, after a long hiatus from her former FBI job. Harland had been and still is healing, in body and mind, from a tragedy while hiking with her fiancé three years ago. Now she and her dog, Ollie, are ready to take on this new life, and hopefully, Harland can put her past to rest.

Two campers are missing in the Sequoia National Park and Harland has been teamed with Ferdinand Huxley, a former Navy SEAL and now nine months into his new park ranger job. Harland and Hux have their work cut out for them as various crimes and misdeeds by others make for a tangled, murky, red herring filled path. They follow clues with endless miles of hiking, driving, and the occasional helicopter ride. Harland is trying to fend off her boss since he wants to pull her from the job for other cases and Hux's boss thinks the duo is wasting their time looking for ill prepared campers who made bad decisions. But Harland and Hux are sure things are more nefarious than just unlucky campers and they will not be deterred from finishing the job they set out to do.

The relationship between Harland and Hux is respectful, light hearted, platonic, and that of a well oiled team. I will say I lost all track of time and place, as the two of them tromped all over creation, it seemed. I felt right at home out there in the rugged terrain, wishing I could be there too, minus the potential murderer(s), the creepy tree marking weirdo, and other oddballs and miscreants hiding from city life. I enjoyed every minute of this well narrated audiobook and look forward to a sequel that should be available in 2022.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ARC.

ISB Agent Harland is new to the job and is called to her second scene in the Sequoia National Park. Missing campers.
While searching for them with Park Ranger Huxley, several other little mysteries pop up.

I enjoyed the way the relationship between Harland & Huxley grew and their banter between each other. I would love to read more novels involving the two of them.

The over plots was enjoyable. Several parts kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what happened. Many twists and turns and I did not expect the end and the way every tied together, though upon finishing it, I feel I should have figured out the who.

The narrator did an excellent job and I would definitely recommend this book.

Thank you #Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. #VanishingEdge

In some ways, this was a very predictable mystery, but in other ways, it was kind of innovative and interesting.

Felicity Harland is a former FBI agent turned investigator for the Investigative Services Bureau, where she deals with crimes that occur within US national parks. She’s called to Sequoia National Park when an empty tent and gear is found scattered over a remote area of the park. The missing camper’s trip was facilitated by a private company that refuses to divulge their client’s name. Felicity teams up with a park ranger (and former Navy Seal) to hunt down the truth. I loved the descriptions of the location and the mystery, I would have liked the story more if there had been less romance and more hard core mystery

A really good mystery thriller done in a setting of California National or State Parks and I’ve been to them. I really enjoyed the setting of this being on Federal land and the different aspects of how this would be handled. It was cleverly told drawing me in and keeping me interested. The author wrote believable, three dimensional characters that had a realistic balance of flaws and strengths. I loved the main characters and hope there is a book 2.
I’m now going to read the author debut novel because I really like her writing style. I chose to listen to this book on audio and loved Natalie Naudus narrating this. She was awesome. This was 9 hours and 14 minutes long. And I highly recommend it.

An abandoned camp site brings Special Agent Felicity Harland to the Sequoia National Park. When a famous actress's body is recovered, and it appears she was murdered, Felicity along with local ranger Hux, begin searching for the killer.

The story is four star worthy, however there are some details that just don't make sense. And I could not get them out of my head. Hence the three star rating. One being Tatum's name- she was starring in a TV show before getting married, yet she was known by her married name? She had been married for less than a year. It is pretty rare for a famous person to change their stage name mid-career.
The other thing that constantly bothered me was the time-line. Places that were supposed to take days to reach suddenly only took hours. This happened over and over.

I listened to the audio version. Natalie Naudus always does a great job, and this is no different. I also found that this book was easy to follow in audio form.

Definitely a good read. I saw the author mention there will be at least another book. I am looking forward to it!

This was such a fun thriller/mystery - fast-paced, def kept me on my toes, filled with adventure and an ending that I actually did not see coming! I definitely think the author could have dug in a bit more into the history/background of our main characters (Felicity and Hux), but overall I really liked their dynamic and how the storyline played out. Just really enjoyed my time listening to this one - the audiobook was great!
