The Science and Philosophy of Martial Arts: Exploring the Connections Between the Cognitive, Physical, and Spiritual Aspects of Martial Arts, This is an extensive and thought provoking book for all martial artists. Through Shotokan Karate and biomedicine Alex W. Tong shows readers how body, mind, and spirit can be developed through martial arts practice, and each of us can reach our full potential. It is a really interesting read especially for myself as I have been training in karate and kick boxing for more than twenty years. It concentrates the mind and helps you to get more out of your practice instead of just showing up for the physical aspects. It really has helped me to think much more deeply about my training and how to improve what I am doing and expand the benefits I get from it. Overall an excellent and thought provoking read.
