I love a good mystery, especially a dark and broody mystery about an exclusive hotel full of over-privileged people. I had high hopes but this book fell a little flat due to the plot holes and one dimensional characterization. If there were 25 more pages, this book could have been perfect.

Major DNF from me. I made it barely 20% and had to give up. I really wanted to enjoy this one, but it just didn't grab me or give me anything to keep reading on.

*Thank you Harper for the copy in exchange for an honest review. Review not posted to Amazon/Goodreads because less than 4 stars or DNF."

I didn't love it, and I didn't hate it. I just didn't vibe with this book. I think I had higher expectations for it.

My rating: 2 stars

*sigh*... Where to even begin with this one? So you know that Dua Lipa "go girl, give us nothing" meme? That's this book.

The idea of a thriller set at an exclusive club for society's wealthiest elite sounds incredibly intriguing, right? Yeah, that's what I thought, too. Instead, we get 320 pages of nothing. Literally nothing happens until maybe 85% into the book. In addition to zero plot, there were way too many characters to keep track of and too many useless backstories. Why did we need to know about all these people? Who cares?? And then the big reveal at the end was so anticlimactic, it didn't even matter at that point. Ugh, this was such a slog to get through, I won't remember anything about it past today and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

I read Ellery Lloyd's debut novel "People Like Here" a while back. While it wasn't a favorite, I thought it had some interesting ideas and plot points, and I was looking forward to reading the author duo's sophomore novel. I think, at this point, I need to come to terms with the fact that they are not the authors for me.

I got lost in the way of the story or maybe it just stalled out for me. It was from multiple viewpoints and it did go into a heavy explanation of the club. The club is extremely exclusive with a lot of over privileged guests.

Thank you #netgalley for the advance copy

Hard to keep all the cast straight with this one. Overall a good mystery. Some things I figured out and other twists that surprised me. It did take a while to get into but that may have been just because I kept forgetting who was who.

I read the authors debut and really enjoyed it! I really liked this one as well and found it very fast paced!

A gripping book where ambition, secrets, and glamour collide in an elite celebrity members' club. In a similar vein to Lucy Foley’s The Guest List and Sandie Jones The Guilt Trip. This book is set in a remote location where all the characters are trapped together.

The owner of Island Home, Ned is throwing the massive party for the elite of the elite. The book cycles through the different perspectives of the island staff as they prepare to pull off the opening of the latest club.
Interspersed with the dueling perspectives from each of the characters, there are articles from Vanity Fair detailing the events of the party and the events leading up to it.

The Club by is a tantalizing and suspenseful read that transports you into the world of elite celebrity clubs, where glamour and secrets intertwine. Lloyd's vivid descriptions and well-drawn characters make it easy to become immersed in the story as we follow the protagonist on her dangerous quest to expose the truth. The plot is filled with twists and turns, keeping readers on their toes. You’re constantly questioning who is lying, who can be trusted, and what really happened.

If the book has a “flaw”, the pacing can be a bit slow but the author's ability to create tension and build anticipation more than compensates for any lulls. This is a solid 4-star read that provides a glimpse into the exclusive world of fame, while reminding us that appearances can be deceiving and not everything is as it seems.

Reminiscent of a classic murder mystery or whodunnit, I enjoyed this book. Thank you to NetGalley, Harper and the Authors for the ARC copy of this book.

Really enjoyed this one.

*******spoiler alert ******************
Revenge is a dish best served cold. These men have no idea what the women in this novel are capable of.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned (or abused, mistreated). Some of the murderers have waited years, even decades, to exact their revenge.

Unfortunately, I had to DNF at his book. Not the book for me. I did not like the characters, the setting, or the premise of the book. I would not recommend it to a friend.

Dnf. I couldn’t bring myself to finish this one. The storyline was very confusing and did not hold my interest. 37% in and I had no idea what was going on.

The Club is a book about the elite and murder. This is not your usual thriller, but more of a locked room mystery whodunit. If you are looking for an intriguing slow burn mystery that is written in a Christie- like style, you will enjoy The Club. It's witty, fun and character driven. It kept me entertained and interested in what would happen next. Thank you NetGalley and Harper for my copy.

It’s sad when a book disappoints based on a premise that begins so wonderfully. It builds anticipation and curiosity and then… disappointment. It falls off and the entire premise is lost into a muddy climax that isn’t fulfilling in the slightest.

This book started out great. A great premise and good storyline and great character development. The story did not carry itself past the midway point in the story. I was no longer engaged. It was a tough story to finish.

I really enjoyed this celebrity-inspired thriller. I was hooked right away and the pacing was great. The multiple POVs were dizzying at first but eventually it created a nice rhythm and I appreciated the layers and different aspects it brought to the story. There were a lot of surprising twists and it dealt with a couple of heavy topics so check trigger warnings before picking this one up. 4.5/5 Stars

This had so much to offer but slightly just missed the mark for me. I tried to enjoy it but it had so many characters to keep up with and such long chapters I barely made it thru.

*Thank you NetGalley for providing this for my honest opinion.

Honestly, really wanted to love this book. Unfortunately, I really had a hard time getting into it.
I love the plot of the book and all the characters seem very different and enjoyable to learn about.
I wish I enjoyed it more though.

This one was just like meh for me. There were times I was invested and then at other times I could care less.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.

The Club
By Ellery Lloyd
Really going back and forth between 3 and 4⭐️s for this one…

I must say I liked this one A LOT more than People Like Her. I thought this one had lots of good twists and turns. BUT, there were SO many characters and SO many side stories going on. It was a little hard to keep up, but oh well! I literally got to the epilogue and there was a character mentioned and I audibly said “who”?!

This one definitely kept me entertained which is why I’m considering 4⭐️s. I have a bit of whiplash after reading this one for sure.

I was very up and down with this book. I was either very intrigued or I was bored of what was going on. I honestly could have done without a few POVS. The last two hours was my most favorite parts of the book.

I know the POVS were important to the story, but Nikki and Annie just didn't do anything for me. Jess story was the best part of the book, and had a better reason on for why she did what she tried to do.
