I really enjoyed this one! You follow Alan who is still pining over his college love/best friend, Nicky, who is set to marry childhood friend - Hardeep. The story is chaotic, hilarious, and while it is about love it covers those hard moments when someone is working to overcome personal hang ups. There is also a chaotic moment about a lobster on the loose...hysterical!

If you love the chaos of weddings, life, love, and heartwarming childhood flashbacks - I definitely recommend this one. Absolutely adored it and finished it in one sitting.

I was given a copy of this story to read; but thoughts and opinions are all my own. Thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the chance to read this book!

Amusing but dated, it's an easy read but the treatment of female characters marks it way down for me

A romantic comedy with some great characters and plot, and a lot of fun. Very entertaining. I love it and recommend it highly! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Many thanks to NetGalley, Cassiopeia Publishin and the author for an Arc of this book. This my honest opinion.

Alan gets invited to be the best man at his friend's wedding. He would really like to but he is terrified of public speaking...
When his new work colleague offers to help him prepare for the momentous occasion things get complicated. And hysterical. And wiered. And there is also a crazy funny scene involving a lobster.

I loved it!

I really loved that it was a romantic comedy with a male protagonist.

Just read it!

Alan has been asked to be best man at his best friends wedding, and agrees despite hating public speaking and also being in love with the bride. Can he get past this and move on to his own happiness?

I didn’t realise when first reading that this book actually came out in 2010 which makes sense as it did feel quite dated in it’s language and the way it spoke about women.

The Second Best Man is a fun, easy to read romantic comedy which I didn’t mind but it wasn’t my favourite - there are so many brilliant rom-coms out there now with strong, career driven female characters that this felt like a step back. It felt like I was reading a Nick Hornby novel from the 90s which isn’t a bad thing but it’s not what I want in 2021.

The writing had me captivated from the start to finish, and I found myself reading it almost straight through one sitting. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I funny well written book. It was good to see a wedding from another side as opposed to the bride. A great read. Well done.

I enjoyed this story and seeing the personal journey of the main character, though he did really infuriate me, and I honestly wished it was more realistic as people were much more forgiving than people would be in real life for what he did

Alan is in love with his lifelong best friend's fiancée and we follow his POV as he struggles with the upcoming wedding.
The plot is lighthearted and a new perspective I hadn't before seen, but it didn't captivate me and wasn't what I was looking for. I am glad other reviewers loved the book though! There are definitely some good laughs and it's also not the typical romantic comedy plot arc. I know some others will find this fun (:

Many thanks to BooksGoSocial, R P Nathan, and NetGalley for this ARC!!

A sparkling romantic comedy about life, love and lobsters. When Alan gets asked to be best man at his friend's wedding he should be delighted. Only problem is he's got a morbid fear of public speaking and is in love with the bride-to-be.....

Holy heck, I loved this book. Exactly my favourite type of book to get stuck into, but this time written from the perspective of a man. It had love, friendship, an absolutely wild "Serial Best Man", being in love with someone you can't be with, a terrible public speaker and a Lobster on the loose.

It was hilarious - so much chaos, well written, I loved the touches on Indian culture and the flashbacks to their childhood's. I loved following Alan and his dramas with work, love, friendship and over coming his fears, and it was great to view weddings and best man duties and love from a male perspective. The character of Charlie was absolutely hilarious and a great touch.

I really hope there is a follow up book for more fun.

Great for fans of Lindsey Kelk.

Humorous no doubt, but not my kind of book. I couldn't relate to the premise, especially the portrayal and treatment of female characters was a letdown.

Alan is a perpetual bachelor who is still hung up on his college love and best friend, Nicky. The problem is that his best friend from childhood, Hardeep, is set to marry Nicky in a few weeks time. Will Alan risk everything to express his feelings and possibly derail the wedding.

While this story is focused on love, it’s also a story about overcoming fears and doing uncomfortable things. Sounds mushy, right? It’s not. Nathan manages to take us on a laugh out loud ride of love and perseverance.

I started this book and finished it in one sitting, and that’s a rarity for me. I was hooked in from the first page and read until 1am. Nathan has a knack for writing that makes the story just flow so well. However, while the story writing was great there were a lot of punctuation errors, along with a few spelling and grammatical mistakes. It didn’t really detract from the story but it could definitely use another edit.

Overall this is a solid 4 star book of love, friendship and overcoming your fears. I’m surprised by the limited number of reviews online, and will definitely be recommending this book to anyone looking for a fun, easy read that sucks you in.

arc provided by netgalley :)
A lot of very funny moments but this book
was just not it for me…
two best friends pining after the same girl
one of the friends marries her the other one (who is still in love with her) is the best man…
seems very depressing :/

This book kind of confused me. On one hand it is quite funny and having royalties being sent for comic relief is awesome. But I also found it a little troubling.

The book is about two guys one getting married the other pinning over his friends future wife. Yes, there are some funny moments but there are also some moments that make you pause for thought.

Maybe this was not the book for me because I found it a little annoying especially when women were concerned. I'm not a far out there feminist but I do have boundaries and I felt this book teetered on the edges at times.

But each to their own. Enjoy!

Hey dolls
I was given an ARC of this book and I have to say the premise I can definitely get on board with. Who doesn’t want a story about a guy pining the one that got away while another lady from his past appears in the picture? It flip flops back and forth between the present and the past to give you history on what went down. I mean honestly having to be the best man to your best friend who is marrying the woman that you’ve been in love with for many years has got to be the most wretched thing in the world.
The torture in this book is oh so tormenting even as you read!
I don’t want to give it all away but you will definitely enjoy this read. It’s an easy read you will breeze right through

A laugh out loud book, with a few cringe worthy moments thrown in for good measure! For some people the timing is never right - but boy can this mess up you life. A really good book with a few surprises along the way.

Not for me: as a feminist I don't appreciate a two-man show to manipulate women being impressed and possibly in for a drink and more....
