Imagine one of 'them' Christmas films on Netflix that you watch on a Sunday afternoon.... now imagine that film in a book..... The Christmas Proposal is exactly that!

Sit in your reading area, a glass of wine or a cup of tea, maybe some chocolate biscuits on a cold afternoon and get into the Christmas spirit with The Christmas proposal. It's got a magical feel about it, set in a village called 'mistletoe mountain' ( a name you would see on a Netflix film '), altho I do feel like Grace and Bridget could do with a little more chemistry.
It is worth a read and is perfect for over the Christmas period to get you into the mood for the holiday.

I've given The Christmas Proposal a 3.5 stars

This is honestly the best sapphic romance book I've read since joining NetGalley. I love how both of the characters are flawed and also realise it. Usually I get annoyed at miscommunication or when a character draws their own conclusions but it's so understandable in Bridget's case.
I also love how they met a year before their story actually starts, it puts their lives in perspective and it's just a great addition to the story. I didn't give it 5 stars because I think that maybe there could have been a bit more yearning, that would've been nice.
But the 4 stars are so well-deserved. I loved both characters equally, Grace's family is amazing, it was all just very cozy and I will 100% reread this book every holiday season. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC.

I received an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

Honestly, this book was one of the sweetest things I have read all year. Festive romance books tend to share a lot of the same cliche storylines and ideas, so it’s really the characters and chemistry that make the book, and this book did not disappoint on either front. Bridget and Grace were such loveable characters, and I loved the way they worked as a couple, and I really liked Betsy too. There were some deeper issues touched on in this book too, but not in a way that brings down the festive cheer

You know how, every once in a while, you'll just come across a story, and the very idea of it just strikes you as "yes. I must read this."? That's what I had with this book - from an actual Christmas village, that manages not to be too too much, to someone who "very strongly dislikes" the holidays, but actually has a reason to do so... Including two main characters who actually feel like real people, rather than just have things happen to them, because it'll help the plot along at some point... And of course, the good old "exes meet again" and all the emotional turmoil that may carry along with it? I basically kind of read this book in one go. Like, sat down, and suddenly I was done, kind of one go. If that doesn't say enough, well, I don't know what will, frankly!

This book was the perfect Week-Before-Christmas-Read! I don't read a lot of romances because I'm just not into all the gooey over-the-top romantic cutesy blegh, but this was just the right about of funny, sweet, and romance mixed together. And of course, Holiday Spirit! It's the story of finding strength and learning to trust after failed relationships, loss, and family abandonment issues. I loved all of characters and by the end wanted to either be their BFF or next-door neighbor! And the little town of Mistletoe Mountain?! Can I just move there and live for the rest of my life? Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cute, LGBTQ-friendly, fun holiday read! Would also make a great early Christmas gift for your favorite lesbian / ally book lover! ;-)

Thank you to Net Galley, Lisa Moreau, and the Publisher for the advanced eBook in exchange for my honest review.

Very cute Christmas story. It almost felt like watching Hallmark lesbian movie. I wish there was more chemistry between Grace and Bridget - at times it felt like it was there, loud and clear, and then...
I'm familiar with Lisa Moreau's novels, and even though this one was fun to read, A Moment In Time is my favorite so far...

Grace works for a company providing unique wedding proposals and she is good at her job. So good that when Bridget needs to find someone to plan her boss's wedding proposal in the quaint Santa’s village of Mistletoe Mountain she contacts Grace. It isn’t until they are trapped in this magical town that Bridget realizes her boss is Grace’s ex. Let the awkward moments and cringeworthy discussions begin.

The Christmas Proposal has a feel good Hallmark movie vibe but adds a level of realness by giving us two main characters coming to terms with their pasts, present and futures. Life is not so candy coated and sprinkled with Hollywood snow for Grace or Bridget. Grace has avoided visiting her family who live and work in Mistletoe Mountain but agrees to help out this woman who seems desperate to please her boss. Bridget has no fond Christmas memories having grown up bouncing from foster home to foster home. She would much rather spend her free time doing what she loves, developing video games and hoping to land a programmers job with her boss, the best of the best in her field. Why else would she agree to head into the mountains with the peppy, Christmas obsessed Grace?

This is a lighthearted Christmas read filled with Grace’s family, welcoming locals and a village hoping to attract tourists for the holiday season. I loved the idea of decorating ugly sweater Christmas cookies. I also enjoyed watching Bridget embrace all the festive events she and Grace attend while Grace struggles to deal with her reasons for bailing on Mistletoe Mountain. This is a slow burn, gentle romance and a nice addition to your holiday reads.

Nice Hallmark style Christmas book, perfect for this season and the dark, cosy days next to the tree. The setting was great, the supporting cast warm and inviting. The dialogue was a bit unrealistic at times and maybe I as a reader had to work harder to really feel the connection between Grace and Bridget but the overall feel of the book made up for a lot. For any reader that loves to get into the mood for the festivities in December this is a perfect book to pick up.

I love Christmas books, and read them every year. Christmas plus lesfic is a clear winner for me, and this story was loads of fun, sweetness, and enjoyment - everything I want in a Christmas novel. Cute couple, and just enough Christmas stuff to warm the heart. Thanks to NetGalley and Bold Stroke Books for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Really good holiday book. The relationship between Bridget and Grace, was so cute and entertaining. Their getting together wasn't smooth, but it was so much fun to read about. I loved that Graces family lived in a town called Mistletoe mountain and that the town was decorated year round for Christmas. The supporting characters were such an important part of Grace and Bridget's journey. Grace is a proposal expert and Bridget is a computer programmer. They meet at the beginning of the story by chance when Grace breaks up with her cheating girlfriend. They meet again a year later when that same ex girlfriend who owns the computer gaming company that Bridget works at task her with setting up a proposal site so she can ask her new girlfriend to marry her and this is where the fun begins and also where Grace and Bridget meet again. I really can't say enough good things about this book, but I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and family, and I look forward to what this author writes next.

I was so excited for this one but the writing just did not do it for me. People don’t talk like that. It was overly cheesy, the dialogue was clunky and weird, the inner dialogue was worse. DNF for me.

Thank you NetGalley, author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

When Grace Dawson left the company owned by her ex, it wasn’t under happy circumstances. She’d just found out her boss/Girl friend, Christina was cheating on her and now wanted to break up. Heartbroken Grace still has to find a job and luck was with her when she found a job at ‘Tie the Knot’ planning marriage proposals for others. Still good fun and now with a year behind her she’s looking forward to maybe she might be asked to start another ‘Tie the Knot’ in Hawaii. She has to work on just one more proposal before Christmas Day. Oh, and it has to be held at ‘Mistletoe Mountain’.
Bridget Cartwright wanted to design video games but so far the closest she’s gotten is working as personal assistance to Christina and Christina now wants her to plan her marriage proposal at a place called ‘Mistletoe Mountain’. Never having planned anything like this she decides to hire a professional to plan the engagement. So she hires ‘Tie the Knot’ and it just so happens her planner is none other than Grace.
At first, not knowing the party is for her ex-girlfriend Christina, Grace takes on the project. What a nice read, especially at this time of year. Likable main characters, and supporting cast make this a lovely read. A very enjoyable read.

This was a cute Christmas romance: sweet and likeable characters, magical small-town setting, festive vibes. The Mistletoe Mountain setting was amazing, I wished I could be there. I especially liked Bridget, she was a super sweet character and I really felt for her and related to her issues with abandonment. However, there was a lot of telling and not enough showing in the narration and I struggled to get a real sense of the connection that I was told was building between the two main characters. The ending felt rushed and abrupt.

This cute Christmas romance was exactly what I expected it to be. Grace and Bridget were a cute pairing and I loved their dynamics together. They both let their past dictate their present and future but soon realise it is what is keeping them from being truly happy. I very much enjoyed them being stranded in Mistletoe Mountain and it was great to see how warm Grace's family was. A great read if you want a cute Christmas read.

‘Tis the season for cutesy holiday romance, and Moreau hits home with this one.

Grace is hired by Bridget to plan a romantic proposal for her boss Christina. All seems good and well until the truth comes out that Christina is Grace’s ex-girlfriend. Sounds like a sticky situation with some real lesbian drama (which I LOVE).

Most of the time, books like this are a little too cheesy for me. But this close to the holidays, it was a no brainer. If you’re hoping for a Hallmark-esque read, look no further. Most of this story takes place on ‘Mistletoe Mountain.’ Yes, there is plenty of mistletoe, holiday cookies, Christmas shopping, ugly sweaters & cutesy flirting.

Fluffy & warm, this book is a perfect pair for a holiday beverage next to a sparkling Christmas tree.

Thank you Netgalley & Bold Strokes Books for access to the ARC. And thank you Lisa Moreau for writing this sweet lil story.

This book just didn't work for me, sadly, despite the premise sounding like the perfect Christmas romance.

The premise is really original and fun, but the execution was very lacking in my opinion. First off, the characters weren't all that likable. Grace is one of the most judgmental people ever, and despite her saying she took the year after her break-up to work on herself, she seems to have learned nothing besides not blaming her unhappiness on other people all the time. Sure, that's a big thing, but there's so much more than that. How is it possible she was going to therapy for a year, without looking into her own past? That didn't make any sense. Also, the 'big reason' why she hasn't gone back home in ten years was strange. The thing with Meghan made perfect sense, but then the skating came way out of the blue? The way she was talking to Betsy about 'not having told Bridget about who she was', like she's this crazy famous person just made me roll my eyes when I found out what she was talking about.

Speaking of rolling my eyes, Bridget wasn't the greatest either. She never stops to think about anything, and this doesn't change throughout the entire book. It's just magically solved by the end because she says she won't do it anymore. Her backstory made sense with her issues, but I wish more was done with it. At the beginning, she seems to feel so lost because she doesn't know where she came from and again, that's magically solved by the end because she's now in love? It just felt a little too easy. This girl needs therapy for her abandonment issues, and at no point does she realise this.

Now, the love story. It felt a little bland for me. It was too insta-love-y for me and besides them being attracted to each other, I didn't see what exactly they loved about the other person? What made them fall in love? They meet in the first chapter, but it really has no significance and having read the entire book now, I feel like the entire first chapter didn't add anything to the story. It would have been better for the story to start where chapter two starts. Had Christina been a more important character, I might feel different, if there had been some kind of confrontation or something later on maybe, but there wasn't. If the first chapter had been left out, I wouldn't have been annoyed with both our main characters from the beginning, either, because again, they're not all that likable.

About the other characters in the story now, there weren't that many. Neither Grace nor Bridget seemed to have any friends, which was very sad and unrealistic in my opinion. Everyone needs a support system and they just don't have one. Sure, you could argue that Grace has her family, but might I remind you that she never goes home? A support system that is only available on the phone isn't really a solid support, is it? Speaking of her family, they're nice enough, but they are extremely one-dimensional. That goes for all the other characters we meet by the way, not that there are many. Everyone feels a bit like a cardboard cut out, only alive when Grace or Bridget are there.

Another small thing I quickly wanted to touch on was the fact that in the first 25% of the book, every woman we meet is a lesbian and that was a little unrealistic, I thought. Also, being gay is apparently so accepted in this world, that no-one bats an eye in a super small town, and strange women flirt with you in coffee shops. I get that we need positive representation, but this just felt too unrealistic because of the setting we were in and the kind of people our main characters came into contact with. I think it would have been more positive to have Grace talking about a positive coming out in her small town, instead of it never being mentioned.

Okay so, all in all, this book felt too much like the bad parts of a Hallmark movie. I love Hallmark films, truly, but the good thing about them is that they're not dragged out. This book dragged despite being a relatively short book and it brings me no joy to write this because I wanted to like it so much. I think the author has much to learn in the romance genre and I hope she keeps writing because her story ideas are good. It's just the execution that needs work.

This is the first time I have read any books from this author. I got little bit confused when I first read the first two chapters with the characters than I got into it really fast and I really enjoyed this Christmas love story. I really warmed to both characters and I love mistletoe creek where it was set. I will definitely read more of her books.
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book.

Grace Dawson works for a company that pans special events such as elaborate wedding proposals for clients. She is totally over her ex, Christina but she suddenly finds herself in charge of planning Christina's proposal to another woman. Bridget is Christina's personal assistant and will do anything for her in hopes of a promotion. Bridget and Christina end up getting stranded together on Mistletoe Mountain. This was a fun rom com. I recommend this book.

My main takeaway from this book is that I think it would make for an amazing lesbian Christmas movie! I especially loved the setting of a yearround Christmas town so much, and the book stroke a nice balance between a sweet story and actual, real-life trauma and problems. I personally wish I'd felt a little more emotionally invested, but all in all, this was a quick, enjoyable Christmas read.

Grace Dawson works at Tie the Knot, planning proposals for people who need a little help making the moment extra special. She has been tasked with helping Bridget Cartwright plan a Christmas themed proposal and she is just the right person for that job. As they work through planning, Grace discovers that not only is Bridget not the one doing the proposing but her ex girlfriend, confirmed bachelorette, Christina that is proposing. Bridget is Christina’s assistant and has been promised a potential promotion if the proposal goes well. Bridget and Grace are forced together to find the best way to get through this task without both of them losing their jobs.

I really enjoyed this Christmas romance. I loved everyone in the story everyone had some issue they were dealing with which sounds dramatic, but honestly it really wasn't. Every character was likeable, and learning their backstory was probably integral to that. I'd highly recommend this to everyone, its a brilliant festive read, you'd be made to miss out.
