I've read this book both as an ebook and as an audiobook and I've greatly enjoyed both, even though I'm a bit partial to the audio version because I think the narrator is super! She has a beautiful, soothing voice that hooks you to the narration.
This is a great story that I fully enjoyed, a psychological / domestic thriller with a spectacular prologue, just wait till you read the very last words: mind blowing!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve read/listened to a few books by Sue Watson and her books are great in between books while waiting for new releases for some of my favorite authors. I enjoy her books and find them quick reads. Definitely classified as a psychological thriller but maybe a little more superficial than some of the other books I’ve read. I did enjoy this one but had a hard time really connecting with any of the characters especially Georgie. I also felt the telling of the story- which was a simple who dunnit sort of mystery- more convoluted than it needed to be.

I really enjoyed the narrator of this audiobook though and overall I would recommend this book to friends looking for a quick, enjoyable read.

What a nice surprise!! and those last few pages (insert blown mind emoji)
I loved the way each chapter left you with a cliffhanger, which makes this the ultimate "just one more chapter" book.
Ultimately i think i'll probably forget most of this story within the next six months, but i did have a good time while reading it.

First person POV starting with Georgie. A mother of Sam and mother in law of Lauren .
This story is about 'you don't trust the friends you have even though you have known each other for more than 20 years'.
It started when they found out Lauren was dead on their house just 3 months of her and Sam wedding .
They were conflict, a lot of twist and turns of the story. Yes!!! A lot of twist and turns .
.
I thought for the few chapters that it was predictable who kills Lauren, but I never new what's coming and keep coming for the last few chapters which hooked me so much .
.
you might wondering where does .5 ⭐️ go if it was a very promising story? Well. The last chapter , I mean the last few lines makes me think that there is some more of the story but yet wondering if it's a cliffhanger or just a blur? I'm still confused on the ending but then again it was worth reading!
.
To the narrator: 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ delivered it well especially with the thriller parts . Great job👍

Bloody hell! That was fantastic!!

I was gripped from start to finish, pretty much couldn't stop listening for two days. I thought I knew the murderer...then I didn't...then I did again...grrrr!!... I couldn't decide - so the end was a treat for me.

I've never read any of this authors books (or listened!) but I'm definitely going to work my way through them all now!

I want to thank the Sue Watson, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio, Bookouture,
for the opportunity to listen to this new book - it was great!!

I listened to the audio version of this book, I loved the narrator’s voice! The storyline itself started out strong but I kind of lost interest halfway through. I did listen through to the end and the ending was really good!

This book was a solid 3 ⭐️ for me.

There was a pretty good twist, but I didn’t find any of the characters likeable. That includes the narrator, Georgie. Georgie’s son, Sam, married Lauren and just weeks later, she was dead. None of the relationships in the book are as they seem. I feel like I never really got to know the characters, but it did keep me reading forward.

I enjoyed the imperfect family dynamic and the suspense definitely kept me on my toes.

Thanks to bookouture and net galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Amazing! Amazing!!
One of the finest book I have read in the past few months. The whole suspense around the death of Lauren just kept getting complex . and so thrilling. It’s a must read for all the psychological thriller fans. Very addictive!!!0

Just when you think a family is perfect. Nothing looks the same after this book.
Lots of secrets, twists and turns. Very well written Sue Watson

Georgie is a single parent and has raised her son Sam alone following the breakup of her turbulent marriage. Sam is marrying his childhood sweetheart Lauren and Georgie couldn’t be happier. A dream couple but the nightmare begins when only weeks later, Lauren is found dead and the police are investigating. Sam is questioned by the police and Georgie senses he is hiding something so decides to do a little digging of her own. She goes to Sam and Lauren’s house to have a look around and discovers that her daughter in law was hiding a dangerous secret. With suspicion pointing at Sam, Georgie looks to prove her son’s innocence but her investigations could put her life in danger.
This book will keep you guessing until the end.

Thank you NetGalley.

Yes, yes and yes!! This was a great read (ahem...listen!)The book opens with Sam and Lauren, childhood sweethearts, married and 3 months later Lauren is found dead at the bottom of the stairs by Sam. Georgie (Sam's mom) is the main character and she notices Sam is acting "odd" surrounding the night of Lauren's death as is Lauren's "perfect" family. The first few chapters were a little slow getting the story going but I feel like with each turn of the page it picked up speed all the way through the epilogue. Wow! What an ending!
This was my first Sue Watson book and I will definatly be adding her books to my To Be Read shelf. She does a wonderful job of progressing the plot forward, throwing in a perfect amount of red herrings, clues and twist. The only reason this was not a 5 star was at times during the book certain clues/scenarios were repeated numerous times. I love a book when the last sentence makes you say, What now?
I even rewound the last 4 minutes 3 times to make sure I got the twist!!
AH!
Go read this book! You will NOT be disappointed!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copies of both the ebook and audio version. I started with the ebook, but was having difficulty finding time to read and later requested the audio. I did enjoy both versions and especially the audio.

This is one of those books where our main character is a cringey amateur detective. None of the characters in this book were particularly likable, but it was a decent story with some interesting twists.

I have loved all Sue Watson novels and this is the first time I actually listened to an audio version.
The narrator's voice was interesting and thrilling to listen to and I was easily able to follow the narrator.
Definitely had me guessing. I loved it and highly recommend it.

So I don’t think the problem is with this book particularly, but thrillers in general. I want to be shocked. I want to be surprised. I want to be Wowed! This book just didn’t hit that spot.

Did it keep me hooked until the end- yes. However, it just didn’t wow me.

It was good enough, enjoyable enough but was just not a standout thriller for me.

2.5 stars

The book has a promising start. A newly wedded couple and the bride dies shortly after the wedding.
Of course the main suspect is the husband, but the whole family is full of secrets.

The book has a good premise and the narrator does an excellent job. However, the action slows down pretty fast and for the most part the book is repetitive and very predictable.

Thank you Net Galley and Bookouture Audio for allowing me to read this book!!

Two childhood sweethearts get married and within a few months, one of them is dead. 🔪🩸

I listened to the audio for this one and I recommend it! Do take that with a grain of salt because I am pretty new to thrillers lol. It kept me guessing (and second guessing) what really happened and it was from the husband’s mom’s POV which I don’t think I’ve read before.

Nothing super graphic in this one. So if you’re looking for a fast paced whodunnit that won’t completely traumatize you, then pick this one up!

Excited to hear narrator Tamsin Kennard again. She did not disappoint.

I don't repeat synopses or give spoilers. I enjoyed The New Wife. My problem with Mystery/Thrillers is typically the ending. I am pleased and happy to report, I thought the ending was spot on. I just cannot visualize any other ending.

This was my favorite type of audiobook. I feel like the author is talking to me.

I was disappointed that the author chose to disperse some F profanity, and each time it was awkward. The writing is so well done, it wasn't necessary.

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture, and Sue Watson for accepting my request to read and review The New Wife.

Sam (son of Georgie) and Lauren (daughter of Tim and Helen) are the children of two close family friends and it seems like fate when they get married, officially joining the two families together. However when Lauren is found dead, and Sam is suspected, Georgie does everything in her power to clear her son's name and find out who is responsible. This book did have many twists and was unpredictable, but I did feel that it was too descriptive at times and not paced quickly enough. I did enjoy how it was written from Georgie's perspective as you feel like you're going on a journey with her.

Georgie is proud of her son Sam and his wife Lauren, who met when they were children and who grew up together. Both families were always close, but it comes to light that there were secrets that were hidden over the years. Lauren is found dead, but was it an accident or was she killed? Sam is taken in for questioning by the police, and Georgie does her best to investigate and find out what really happened, to try and get him released. What will she uncover? Can she save her son? The audiobook was very good and the narrator was fantastic. Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Story 5 stars

I think this is going to be a book I hear alot about in my book group.

It was fantastic!! It had me guessing until the end who it was. When it all came together I started running faster on the treedmill out of anticipation 😆

Time time I've come across this author but I'll definitely be seeing what other books she has written on Amazon

My thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to review this audio.

Book description is very accurate. What would you do if your daughter in law was found dead, and your son is accused of her murder, who believes in his innocence? How far would you go as a mother to help clear him? That's what Georgie sets out to do.

Good narrator, lots of twists. Enjoyed this.
