I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

I loved this one. Very fast paced, had me biting my nails as I listened to it – I had to see how it would end. The characters were well rounded and the narrative felt believable. Gave me chills. Solid five

The New Wife was a thrilling new story with many twists. It was great because the reader may think they know what is going on, but with twists and new information at every corner, the reader was always wrong. Unlike some of the comments that said the booked dragged in the middle, I found myself rushing through my daily chores to get back to this book because I needed to know what happened. I found that the book kept me thinking and asking questions. I was excited the whole time trying to figure out what happened, and the ending? That was great. I will definitely read another one of Sue’s books!

Thanks NetGalley!

Georgie witnessed her son Sam growing and marrying his childhood sweetheart Lauren.
Georgie was good friends with Lauren's parents Helen & Tim, who she saw as the perfect couple with the family and life that she always wanted for herself and her son. The marriage of their kids was all what missing.

But then Lauren was found dead by her husband and he become the primar suspect of her murder. Georgie believed in her son's innocence and fought for him but she found along the way that not what appear and what she thought was true was necessary the truth.

This psychological thriller is a page-turner that I enjoyed very much. And the narrator made it more enjoyable to listen to.

Sam is finally marrying his childhood sweetheart, Lauren, and his mother Georgie couldn't be prouder of him. He'd grown into a caring, compassionate man nothing like his abusive father. She can't wait for Lauren to officially be the Daughter she'd always wanted and to have even more family to love. It really was Happily Ever After.

Until it wasn't. Just three months later, she gets a call from Sam telling her Lauren was dead.

As the investigation starts, she can't help but feel there's something not quite right about the way Lauren died. Sam won't even look her in the eye, and she's starting to notice things about him, about his marriage that she didn't see before. So when she gets a chance to do a little investigation of her own while looking after their empty home, she finds out her daughter-in-law wasn't who she thought. It looks like everyone she loved was holding onto secrets that could be deadly … it's too late for Lauren, but hopefully not for her and Sam.

"Who really knows what a person could do, until they are tested?"

Sue Watson has always had a masterful control over the settings to her stories and this is no exception. In this gripping domestic thriller, Watson crafted the perfect location - using isolated, beautiful backdrops and contrasting it with horrifying events to keep the reader feeling very alone and in total suspense.

A real page-turner, full of whip-smart twists and misdirection, The New Wife truly keeps the reader guessing until the answer is right in front of you - leaving you suspicious of everyone and not knowing who to trust.

I'd like to say I figured out who the real suspect was - but that's only because I suspected everyone at one point or another.

This hard-hitting, sinister story explores just how far people are willing to go for the people they love. We see the families fracture, each manifesting their grief and anger in different ways and not sure who's grieving and who's feeling guilty.

The narration was super easy to follow and definitely helped with engrossing the reader in the story!

The Princess of Plot Twists strikes again with this one!

Wow this book was a rollercoaster ride. I read alot of thrillers so i thought i had it figured out when it started. I did not, and i was perfectly fine with that. I loved how this story started right away. There was no fluff at the beginning. The fluff came later when things already went down. The writing style of this book was amazing. I was addicted and had to know what was going to happen! Will be picking up more from this author in the future!

I received this book/audio from NetGalley on a read and review basis. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to read and review this book!

For me, there's one thing that makes or break a mystery/thriller. It's less about the twists and turns (though this book has plenty of both!).... For me, as a mystery reader, pacing is what usually hooks or loses me. The pacing in this one was... *chef's kiss* masterful.

I was never once bored, never once zoned out (which happens at times when I listen to books on audio), but on the flipside, I also never felt lost or confused, or like, "wtf is happening?!?" Watson simply kept a consistent pace that left me wanting to keep listening.

All in all, this was a really fun, engrossing read. Would recommend to any mystery fan!

Georgie is immensely proud of her son, Sam. He seems to have overcome the life he had as the son of a violent and abusive man. Now, he’s marrying the love of his life, Lauren. But just mere weeks later, Lauren is dead and the police are looking at Sam as a prime suspect. Determined to prove her son’s innocence, Georgie begins to look into Sam and Lauren’s life and what she finds is shocking. Fast paced, with a couple of twists this is am exciting domestic thriller, admirably performed by Kennard
