The story of a brave young girl who tame an elephant, and save her village. The elephants that we know now are tame, were a scary beast back then, and little Yaley went befriend one, then the whole herd came to help. A great story about how a little kid can make a change, but you need the will to do so. Hopefully the story can encourage children nowadays to have faith in themselves.

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* certainly a different book, the artwork is oddly cut and paste like? not bad just different from most books, pretty good read but is longer than i thought

A story about confronting evil with non-violence.
The village names are a bit on the nose, and I did not like Yaley offering the baddie the elephants to use as he liked as long as he released the men. Otherwise, this is a decent if simplistic tale.
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my review.

I liked the premise of this one— of a brave, young girl standing up to a bully of a man to save her brother and her village’s people. But unfortunately, the story just fell flat for me.
I also didn’t enjoy the art style very much. It was super lush and colorful but the art of the characters wasn’t my favourite.
I definitely think kids will still love this story! I hope little girls can see themselves in the main character and find their own courage and bravery inside of themselves.
2/5⭐️

Yaley, the hero of the book, befriends Love, a baby elephant, while she is out dancing.
And then makes friends with the rest of the elephants.
And it is with the help of the elephants, and her dancing, that she and the women of the village go after King Norman, who had been taking their men to work for him, including Yaley's brother.
Cute book about strong girls, though the resolution ending was a little quick.
Nice illustrations.
