I have been growing tomatoes every year and apart from freezing split tomatoes, making sauces and essentially eating them in salads and sandwiches - I really needed a book to help me

The book is beautifully illustrated and packed with tomato inspired recipes

A must for tomato lovers and this is not just for the summer so if you have tomatoes to use up or just love these tasty fruits this is the book for you.

This book was perfect for me! For as long as I can remember I have always loved tomatoes, and it was great to find a book that provides creative and fun dishes from tomatoes. I like how targeted the subject matter was. The photos were very well done, and I ended up finding any recipes that I can't wait to try out myself.

The [Produce] Love cookbook series from Storey Publishing is one of my favorites. The food photography is always so stellar that they are a joy to look through, even when I can't eat a lot of the recipes (because of food allergies). However, Tomato Love by Joy Howard takes things up a notch for me, because many of the recipes are safe for me to try and sound delicious. Of course, the photography makes everything look delicious, even dishes I'm not interested in trying.

Tomato Love is tiny but mighty. In addition to the beautiful food photography and the recipes themselves, there is an introductory section discussing tomatoes in general, especially different classes of tomato (cherry, paste, heirloom, beefsteak, etc.) and how to use them. And while the recipes are not annotated as gluten free, dairy free, etc, there were plenty of recipes that seemed either already allergy-friendly, or else flexible enough to easily become so.

I can vouch for the Ham and Egg breakfast cups myself. I made them once, and we enjoyed them so much that we served them to friends, who also loved them. That particular recipe is extremely flexible--other veg can be added, fresh herbs, and cheeses, as well as swapping out the meat used. Just make sure that you use large enough pieces of lunch meat for the cups, otherwise it gets messy fast. I'm excited to try more of the other recipes soon, from Shakshouka with Extra Veg, to Caramelized Onion and Tomato Jam, Sun-dried Tomato White Bean Dip, Southwestern Quinoa Salad, Spicy Gazpacho, Oven Baked Cod, Black Lentil Stew, and Sweet Spicy Smoky BBQ Sauce, among others.

This book would be especially terrific for gardeners with bountiful harvests of tomatoes who need new ideas of how to use them, and for people who really love all things tomato. But it would also be lovely for fans of beautiful food photography, or cookbooks in general. For such a slim volume (only 100 pages!), it is jammed full of so many things that make cookbooks great.

Thank you to #NetGally and Storey for sharing a free #advancedcopy of #TomatoLove with me. It was a pleasure to read.

I was expecting the book to be more focused on tomatoes. I feel many of the recipes simply had a tomato in it. I wanted tomatoes to be the star. Still overall the recipes were good for someone new to cooking.

I love tomatoes but unfortunately I’m the only one in the family that does.
Some very interesting and tasty looking recipes. At some point I will get around to trying them.

Brilliant book with ALOT of information, down to the different type of tomatos and how to store them. I think its fair to say this has everything you need to know about tomatos and then some. There's also some really good recipes in there which I look forward to making

Love tomatoes? Tomato Love: 44 Mouthwatering Recipes for Salads, Sauces, Stews, and More is a great cookbook with recipes using tomatoes. Although tomatoes are readily available year round, summer seems to be the time the gardens are overflowing with them, and it becomes necessary to find new ways to use them up. This cookbook includes a variety of tempting recipes using both fresh and dried tomatoes (incidentally, the sun-dried tomato scones are great). While some recipes are for sauces made with tomatoes, there are other unique popular recipes such as Shakshuka, Patlican Soslu, and Caramelized Onion and Tomato Jam. The recipes are written in the traditional form and are easy to follow. Also, the recipes are all fairly easy, so anyone – cooks from beginning to advanced – can prepare them with picture-perfect results. The cookbook includes beautiful photographs of almost every recipe, which is inspiring to anyone looking for a good recipe to use up their tomatoes.

The only drawback to this cookbook is that there aren’t enough recipes. The 44 recipes included are excellent, but this cookbook is way too small, and a proper cookbook selling for the price shown should include at least double that amount of recipes.

All told, tomato lovers will enjoy the recipes in this cookbook, and will want to include it on their cookbook shelves.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Great selection of tomato recipes and I have copied some to try in the future.
I would call this a staple cookbook, except that these recipes all aim to make tomatoes shine and for a cookbook to be a real mainstay and reference book in my kitchen it needs to cover more than just one ingredient.

I enjoy this sampling of recipes and I can feel Joy Howard's enthusiasm for this red fruit in each dish she describes.
And having said that, I would definitely pick up a copy if Joy Howard ever decides to make a spectacle cookbook and show us all how to go extravagant with the humble tomato because I know her love for the tomato will ensure that each dish would also be a delight to eat!

It's an interesting mix of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern recipes with a North American Twist.

As I opened this book I got s wonderful introduction into some of the different varieties there are of tomatoes. Of those listed I knew and have tried all but one. This was followed up by the different ways you can process them from slicing and dicing to shredding. Next came a lovely compilation of recipes that any tomato lover would be happy with. I always like to try a couple right off anytime I get a new cookbook just to get a feel for the complexity of the recipe. I enjoy all types of bread so I started off with the Sun Dried Tomato Scones. The recipe was easy to follow and you ended up with a delicious and savory treat at the end. I thought the Caramelized Onion and Tomato Jam would be a perfect compliment to the scones and it didn't disappoint. The two worked well together and I look forward to making both again. This was the perfect cookbook for someone like me who loves tomatoes!!!

3.5 stars really but rounding up to 4 since it's inoffensive and I do really love tomatoes.

Confession: when I was fresh out of high school, my then-boyfriend's mother would buy me entire packages of tomatoes as gifts because she knew I loved tomatoes that much. Many things have changed then, but not my abiding love for the versatile summer fruit.

This little cookbook is a sweet (and savory) short introduction to the wonderful world of cooking with tomatoes. Some recipes are no-cook, some make use of tomatoes in conditions other than fresh (for those sad long months when tomatoes are not in season) but all are straightforward and accessible to the home cook. I'll definitely be trying a few of the salads once my own tomatoes come in this season.

The photography is lovely and vibrant and the layout of the cookbook is clean and easy to follow. In the eARC that I received, there were no dividers between the different sections, which I found a bit jarring - I would hope that they were added into the final copy.

TOMATO LOVE by Joy Howard is a brand new cookbook which contains "44 Mouthwatering Recipes for Salads, Sauces, Stews, and More." It seems just in time for the forthcoming harvest of tomatoes, although Howard provides a variety of recipes, often with canned tomatoes or tomato paste, which can be used throughout the year. She also describes different types of tomatoes and offers purchasing suggestions. Happily, the recipes seem relatively easy – without too many (or too difficult to find) ingredients – although there is no nutrition information provided. A few delectable examples are Mushroom, Kale and Tomato Strata, Sun-Dried Tomato Scones, and an eggplant and tomato dish called Patlican Soslu. The appealing, colorful pictures will whet your appetite for sure! I'm also looking forward to trying Ravioli Lasagna, Creamy Garlic Pasta with Ricotta and Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Balsamic Grilled Flank Steak, or just making a few cups of Herb-Roasted Grape Tomatoes. It all sounds yummy; companion cookbooks include Blueberry Love and Strawberry Love. 4.5 stars

I was a little skeptical about this book at first but wanted to try it because I love tomatoes and grow a lot of them in the summer. I'm happy to say I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of recipes and how good they all tasted! I think my favorites were the Sundried Tomato Scones and the Goat Cheese and Tomato Goat Cheese Tart, but honestly everything I tried in here was amazing! I can't wait until my garden starts producing tomatoes to make these recipes with!

Thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
