I really enjoyed the layout and photography in this book and have earmarked many of the recipes to try. Having said that, quite a few were a little uninspiring and the tomatoes seemed like more of a garnish as opposed to the star of the recipe. Overall, it’s a good recipe book and I will use it; however, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

Every which way with tomatoes, a fantastic selection of recipes for the humble tomato. Great everyday idea along with special occasions recipes too.

This book was nice. It definitely made my mouth water. Tomatoes are one of my favorite foods and so everything in this book looked delicious. I didn’t see a lot of recipes that didn’t already feel familiar to me. The photographs were beautiful. It was a well designed book. The ingredients were simple and familiar, which I always appreciate in a cookbook. I think this would be a perfect book for someone who grows tomatoes in their garden and ends up with more than they know what to do with. It would be an excellent resource in that situation. I liked the book; it just didn’t elicit strong feelings from me.

I love tomatoes, and as a decades long vegetarian could not survive without them. With summer upon us this book could not be timelier. 44 recipes for every occasion, including sauces and jams with gorgeous pictures for every recipe... my mouth is watering. I cannot wait to dive in.

Tomato Love is everything I was expecting. As a tomato lover myself, I was overjoyed by the great variety of recipes the book offers. There is not a time of the year where you cannot cook with tomatoes! The only thing missing were food allergy or dietary warnings, such as vegetarian save or nut free.

At the expense of sounding rude, which by no means is my intention, I would like to mention that ‘Pan con Tomate’ is not a tapa per se. It may now have been adopted in other parts of Spain as a tapa - seeing how simple and delicious it is - but it is a dish that is usually eaten in Catalonia. Originally, the name of the dish is ‘Pa amb Tomaquet’ and it is an appetiser or main dish paired with charcuterie or cheese.

All in all, Tomato Love is a book that makes you be excited about cooking and, most important, eating tomatoes daily!

I received Tomato Love by Joy Howard for free from NetGalley to review. I loved the pictures and layout of the book. It makes me want to try most recipes that I saw. I want to try Shakshuka with extra Veg and Ham and Egg Breakfast Cups and the Sundried tomato scones.. I think our patrons at our library would like this book also and have already asked the person who orders our books to place it on her list.

A good book for anyone who likes tomatoes and want new recipes, or for anyone who might not fully appreciate tomatoes, but is open to try new things. I found several recipes I am interested in trying as soon as possible, like spicy gazpacho, sun-dried tomato-white bean dip, and some interesting sauces. It is easy to veganize almost all of the non-vegan recipes. Recommended! I love the great pictures in this book!

"Tomato Love" is a collection of recipes sure to delight any person who loves eating the versatile, delicious, and varied fruit we called tomato. With recipes to make when tomatoes are in season, to recipes that can be made in winter, this treasure trove of tomato centred recipes will delight home cooks the world over.

Joy Howard's recipes are versatile and varied, ranging from pasta sauces, sandwich ideas, salsa, and much more. She has drawn on multiple cuisine inspiration, but has kept the ingredient list and instructions simple and unfussy. Beginner cooks would enjoy these recipes wholeheartedly, and even more experienced home cooks can find interesting information and some new recipes to try. The author also provides tips for which tomatoes go best with different dishes, or which should be enjoyed fresh and in season, and which can be stored for a later date.

There are both vegetarian and meat-based recipes, and even a few insta-pot recipes as well. The measurements are in the US Imperial measurement system, but experienced cooks, and the help of an internet search engine would be able to easily translate measurements into the metric or UK imperial system.

As a tomato lover, I look forward to adding this recipe book to my collection.

What a beautifully written book all about tomatoes. I love the intro and the tomato varieties at the beginning., who knew there were so many. I have tried a few of the recipes and our favourites are the Sun-dried Tomato Scones and the Root Vegetable Latkes. Another great thing about this book is all the photos to go with the recipes, so nice to see what the dish would look like. I have also added a review on Goodreads.

Tomato Love is an exuberantly colorful ode to the ever popular tomato with recipes developed and curated by Joy Howard. Due out 21st June 2022 from Storey, it's 104 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

This is a thin volume for a cookbook, but it's bursting with seasonal recipes for using fresh and preserved tomatoes in a starring role in all sorts of dishes. The recipes are arranged thematically: Breakfast & Brunch, Snacks, Salads Soups & Stews, Vegetable Mains, Meaty Mains, and Sauces and Basics. Recipes contain a description and introduction, bullet lists of ingredients (measurements are given in imperial/American units only), followed by step-by-step instructions. All the recipes are photographed and illustrations are attractively styled and appetizing. Most of the ingredients will be easily sourced at any large grocery store.

The recipes themselves are tasty and well written and I loved that some of them were on the lighter/sweeter side. We tried the sun dried tomato scones and the latkes with romesco sauce. They were both delicious. We'll definitely be making them again as well as exploring further recipes from this collection. The book also contains a useful introduction and short overview over tomato varieties and uses. The author has a friendly, upbeat voice and I liked that she reassures readers that there's no shame in using store bought processed tomato products.

Five stars. Sensible. Well written. Very high production quality throughout.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

I am obsessed with this! It's so cool!

I eat so many tomatoes that my family says I'm going to turn into one. Unfortunately, I never really cooked with them a lot aside from adding a can of tomatoes here and there to a sauce or soup.

Sometimes my Nan and I can tomatoes so I'll have some really good ones to use during the winter months.

This cookbook has so many great ideas! The tomato grilled cheese is delicious and I definitely want to try the BLTK. I have some Morningstar bacon I need to use up. The cookbook doesn't revolve around meat so that's good for me.

This has a lot of range. There are sauces, salads, and even casseroles! I'm serious, there's a ravioli casserole.

It gives you a run down of the different kinds of tomatoes and how to use them. That's handy to have around.

The pictures are absolutely beautiful. This is just a lovely book all around.

Tomato Love is a perfect summer cookbook full of recipes to enjoy with fresh tomatoes, including tomato shortbreads, tomato jam and other ways to pickle/preserve and make savory/sweet tomato dishes that go beyond sauce or pizza. I've always been a tomato fan. Ill always take the tomatoes off the sandwiches of anyone who feels otherwise. The photos in this cook book are beautiful and make you hungry right from the shakshuka. The recipes are simple and quick, some of them you could probably make in 5-10 minutes. I also always appreciate a one bowl recipe, and the Spicy greens with sausage, farro, and pickled tomatoes would be a great meal to whip up and then pack away to take for lunch the next day. I will admit, with some recipes it seems like the tomatoes were the garnish or not really the star of the dish. Other than that, I would try any of the recipes.

I love tomatoes, so recipes that involve them are right up my alley! So many good looking recipes- can't wait to try them with tomatoes from my garden this summer!

There are so.many great tomato recipes in this cookbook, from stratas and scones to BBQ pork sliders and pot roast. Lots of the recipes are vegetarian (or can be made vegetarian), so there's really something for everyone. Favorites are the Root Vegetable Latkes with Romesco Sauce and the Roasted Tomato and Basil Soup with Pumpernickel Croutons.

Almost every recipe has a full color photo, and instructions are clear and easy. This is a great cookbook to greet the summer with, whether you are a tomato-lover or you still need a little convincing.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for the ARC.

Tomato Love is a collection of recipes that celebrate the favorite high-summer fruit. The recipes in this collection invite year-round eating, new takes on classic dishes like red sauce and tomato soup, along with a mix of fresh ideas. Home cooks, backyard gardeners, and CSA members overwhelmed with the bounty of the season will find dozens of inspiring ideas for introducing variety into the everyday repertoire of meals.

With a nice variety of recipes and beautiful photos, this is a pretty book to own with some interesting bits of information about fresh versus canned tomatoes. I felt that, though many of the recipes had tomatoes in them, they weren't tomato recipes. Still some very tasty food is made.

Recommended.
