Hidden Agenda's, a second in the Dr. Kyle Chandler thriller series, is about a trauma surgeon, Kyle Chandler in Kansas City circa 1990's, with knowledge about French Antiques. He moved to Kansas City, not his original home town, but it became his adopted hometown after he finished is surgical training in Boston, in 1988. His days were spent patching up members of the Nighttime Knife & Gun Club and the Drunk Driver's Bumper Car Club, humor here.

He is on his way to a medical symposium in London, when he is contacted by a friend of his, Ian Griffin, who runs a private investigation company in London. What Ian wants Dr. Chandler to do is look into a new case and about bulk wine shipments from Europe to the US. While there he finds out about a new system of smuggling. What he struggles with is how wine shipments have anything to do with French antiques.

Evidently a new way to ship wine has been discovered and it makes it a lot easier to ship the wine, and other things. The further he digs, the more immersed he becomes in the investigation. Organized crime, there you have it, dangerous characters try to stop him from obtaining his goal of getting information for his friend.

He has an off and on again girlfriend, Caroline Martinelli, a successful art dealer, who he wants to move to the next step with her. His investigation kind of puts this relationship on the back burner.

Hidden Agendas has the right amount of suspense, good guys and bad guys, it was enough to keep me interested. The series starts with Cut to the Chase, the first book . I do so enjoy a good mystery, and a medical one to boot. This book was a short but fast read. I do so want to read the first in the series and any more the author plans to publish! If you like a good mystery from an author who knows what he is writing about, this is it for you!

Dr. Kyle Chandler is a trauma surgeon. He has been asked to attend a symposium in London. However, a friend, Ian Griffin, has implored him to look into a mystery while he is there. It appears that there may be a smuggling ring going on involving priceless antiques. The further Kyle digs into this mystery the more dangerous it becomes.

I did find that this novel a has a good many mundane details. Just a minor issue. But, the story itself is very unique and creative. I enjoyed the complexity of the mystery. And Dr. Chandler is very intelligent and, I want to say, suave and debonair. This novel had a Sherlock Holmes feel to it. A good man on a hunt for answers!

Need an all around good mystery…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

A compelling high drama novel. A treat to the avid reader of action, humor, crime and deceit. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy

Dr. Kyle Chandler (KC) has quite a network of business associates, former patients, and outside interests. These contacts led him to agree to two easy missions while in London to attend a medical symposium. The problem is that while he can easily discern the answers to one (a problem of reproduction of French antiques) the other only leads to further investigation that becomes a very sticky wicket.

A bulk wine carrier, a one-time use only bladder of sorts that is easily transported and disseminated into bottles upon destination, was a new one for me, but it’s easy to figure that someone would be able to use the idea to further one’s own applications.

The doc can’t resist following one clue after the other until he finally attracts a bit too much attention.
Book 2 is my first in the series. I know Chandler is a widower, but not the whole backstory on him. He has a lot of tentacles out there, which he’ll need to save himself. (I’m having a difficult time believing the mob situation could be handled in such a manner.)

The narrative is entertaining and engaging although while I didn’t note that this was an uncorrected digital proof, the copy I received was so rough as to be difficult to read sometimes for stumbling over edit misses. 3.5 stars

The authenticity which the lived experience of the author applies to the technical aspects of the story line really add value here. This is a credible, convincing plot with some great characters. I liked how the author brought in the more human and personal aspects of the lead character’s life without compromising the pace of the core plot.

It wasn't one of my top favorites but it was still very good! I will definitely recommend reading this book! Its well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
