Very relatable.
Some shorter poems weren't as hard hitting as the longer ones.
Captive.
Able to express grief in a good way.

This book had a lot of potential. I was intrigued by the premise of the book. Personally I am a fan of dark humour as a coping mechanism for grief, but this story just fell flat. The writing style was scattered, repetitive, and difficult to read. I didn't feel myself get emotionally invested at all. I tried to relate with the main character, Eleanor but couldn't.

This book was just not for me. I was super intrigued by the premise and always enjoy some dark humor, but the writing in this was super tiring. I found myself skipping parts to only read the dialogue and then I was lost so I gave up on it.

Felt very scattered and impersonal. It felt like difficult to read and not very emotionally pulling, like the title makes you expect. The stories felt like reading someone’s journal and not in a good way. I couldn’t relate to the character or feel her pain at all.

Though I did somewhat enjoy this book, I found the writing to be a bit repetitive. I was hoping the work would feel a bit deeper and a little more thought out. The story was interesting, but there were parts that felt a bit irrelevant to the story as a whole. I think it could have benefited from a little more time editing and reviewing parts to see if they felt essential or not.

This novel has all the potential to be something meaningful and worthwhile, but often fell short. I found myself trying to relate to Eleanor but neve could, despite being of similar age with similar life experiences. The prose ended up more confusing than helpful, and I questioned the format and layout of the novel more than once while reading. I believe Toy could have benefited from more revisions and thoughts towards the novel as a whole and the message the book was trying to convey.
