I'm not the biggest sci-fi person, but this book was a perfect blend of sci-fi with the fantasy elements I love. The world-building is incredible, and even with the fast-paced environment, the book doesn't dump all the information on the reader at once (and as someone against info dumps, I'm a big fan). The romance is swoon-worthy, though I'm not sure who I favor more. That remains to be seen in future books. I'm excited for the next book.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I was not sure where this book would lead me but I was happy to go along for the adventure. Lilla is a princess who lost her mother at a young age. This loss made her father lose touch with the people almost a blind eye. That is when Lilla becomes a rebel to save those being oppressed. There is drama, love, magic, and more in this book. There were even gods doing their best to take over the lives of people. None of this was easy for her to take come. Wondering what is going to happen next.

The premise of the story sounded intriguing. However, the story was pretty slow moving with unlikable characters. The world-building was also very confusing. Still, I recommend this for fans of Jeff Wheeler, Mercedes Lackey, and Marion Zimmer Bradley!

Not sure if it was the writing style or just the book but I couldn't get into reading the series and I can't justify writing a review. My star rating is based on that, nothing against the writer themselves.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley (thank you Lilac Grove Entertainment). All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Unpopular opinion yet again, DNF at 18%...

Keep in mind that I only read 18% of the book, so things might get better later in the story, I'm just really not into it right now and I can't find it in me to continue. I might give it another try the next time I feel like reading sci-fi, but for now I'm done.

The main character, so far, feels very bland and uni-dimensional. I don't care about her or her "sad" life. She seems to be petulant and spoiled and I still don't understand msot of her decisions. We don't have a real idea of her history or her motivations so far, making it even harder to care about what happens to her. The writing style also makes it hard to feel a connection or feel the emotions that are conveyed in the plot. We know the character is saad because it says so, not because we see it or feel it.

The plot also seems to jump all over the place. The ideas are there and they're good, but things happen so quickly. New concepts or revelations are just thrown in there and on the next page everyone has accepted it and there is no more talk about it. The writing and dialogues feel choppy at times, and the flow of the story is affected by it.

To end on a positive note though, the world-building so far is great and very complex. There is a glossary at the end of the book, although it is tough to look at it every page or so when you are reading a Kindle. I liked the ideas, the mix of technology and magic, the sci-fi mixed with a style that reminded me of a high fantasy novel, but the execution of the plot and the main character are really weak and lacking so far sadly.

Great fantasy/romance tale, although the Female Main Character was dubbed to be somewhat of a badass, I felt she was lacking in that department.

The romance was awkward and cute. I loved it!

The fantasy world took me a minute to get my head around but yeah, I was into this book and rooting for the good guys!

DNF @76%
This book had several themes I wasn't a fan off.
Still, I read (skimmed forward) till 76% of the book where I reached the final stroke and thats it.

What I liked:
Set in space.
Inter galactic politics

What I didn't like:
Info-dumping
Whiny main character
The Gods.... Not a big fan of those in general at the same time I wasn't sold. Felt a lot like wonderwoman movie (2017) & I liked that better.
Incest

A fast hitting, seamless blending of sci-fi and fantasy- S.G. Blaise comes out swinging with this amazing debut novel! Lilla's journey to self acceptance and ultimately strength is amazing to witness. Fast paced, yet intimate: The Last Lumenian does not disappoint.
