Being a first time Mom and navigating the Financial space can be challenging but I am happy to know there are valuable resources like Investing for Kids available. I applaud how easy it is to follow along, learn about how to teach the foundations, and setting up for success. This is definitely a great resource to keep on the shelf or to gift. I recommend this book!

Basic list of ideas for kids to earn money. Some are very traditional and simple while others are downright impractical. If this is intended for tweens and teens, there's some ideas recommended here that have age restrictions at of above the age of 13 or needing parent supervision. I like the helpful outreach-style ideas that help build a better sense of community. Applying these ideas in some areas may not be practical or safe. Caution should be used when attempting any of the online activities (online surveys can be used to collect private metadata). The main message of earning money to learn the worth of one's time and talents is a valuable one.

Investing For Kids provides kids with about 50 ways to make money. While many of these were the old standards (lemonade stand, paper route), there were some innovative alternatives like shopping for the elderly, cleaning furniture, online surveys, and growing herbs. The first idea mentioned is using Roblox to make money, but it's actually pretty difficult to make money using Roblox (which I have explained to my tearful child many times), so I was disappointed to see this listed front and center. The advice about investing was disappointingly only a couple of pages, while the bulk of the book is devoted to earning money so the title is a twee bit misleading. The writing style seems targeted at younger children, but quite a few of the suggested jobs were only appropriate for older teens (such as house painting.)

I like how this book was very clear in it's instructions on how to perform specific tasks such as cleaning furniture or cleaning cupcakes, although I believe those instructions may be a bit restrictive. This book has a lot of good tips (as well as some bad ones... (selling Instagram captions?) but overall I think will teach kids to be better venture capitalists! Which is kind of terrible but also very necessary for success in today's country and is also nothing new.
