Witty, banter between characters is lovely. This book captures humor, friendship, everything perfectly.

I was a big fan of Kate Bromley’s debut romance Talk Bookish to Me because of its relatable characters and witty banter, so I was eager to get my hands on her new novel, Here for the Drama. With its London setting, a female playwright as the protagonist, and the promise of an adorable but rambunctious rescue dog, Here for the Drama appealed to me on every level. Bromley really delivers too. As much as I enjoyed her debut, her sophomore effort really shines!

The story follows Winnie, a young woman who dreams of being a famous playwright. Even though she is actively writing her own plays and hoping to get them noticed, her day job is to serve as an assistant to a woman who actually already is a famous playwright, Juliette Brassard. Winnie is trying to get one of her plays in shape to enter it into a contest and keeps hoping Juliette will read it and give her feedback, but Winnie’s play gets put on the back burner when Juliette announces that they are going to London because one of her plays is being staged there. Winnie is reluctant to go, but the trip ends up being life changing for her in many ways.

I really liked Winnie. She’s a well-drawn and relatable character, especially when it comes to her insecurities about whether or not she has what it takes to make it as a playwright. Winnie is also quick witted and just a really enjoyable character to follow. In addition to rooting for her to have success with her writing, I was also rooting for Winnie on a personal level as well. While in London, she meets Juliette’s sexy nephew, Liam, and the two of them have both incredible chemistry and just some flat out hilarious conversations. From their earliest conversations, it felt like they had known each other forever. They’re clearly perfect for one another, but there’s just one huge obstacle – Juliette does not want Winnie and Liam to get involved with one another. I don’t often come across the secret dating trope, but I have to say I quite enjoyed it here and was cheering Liam and Winnie on.

Here for the Drama is just a delightful and heart-warming read. From Winnie and Liam to the adorable scene stealing rescue dog, I just loved every page of it. If you’re in the mood for a rom com that really delivers and that will leave you with a contented smile on your face, be sure to pick up a copy of Here for the Drama.

When your boss makes you go overseas to provide her inspiration with you having to online date, love somehow quickly finds a way in regardless if you want it or not. .

This was a forbidden romcom book that was good, it just needed more oomph.

I actually really loved this book. The storyline was compelling, and these characters will make you fall in love with them. I laughed, I cried, and absolutely squealed with delight several times while reading this. Winnie and Liam are completely adorable, and I was rooting so hard for them. I loved the non-traditional ending that this romance has. Juliette and Winnie’s relationship was so real and raw. I loved how they had their ups and downs, and how they worked through them. This story is super fun, and now I want to work at a theatre. I look forward to more from this author.

Winnie loves working for her boss Julianne, a playwright. Julianne convinces her to join her in London for three weeks as she oversees a pop-up production of one of her plays. Winnie had planned to use the time to work on her own play to get it ready to submit to a contest but figures she can still work on it during her off time. What she doesn’t plan on is to find Julianne’s nephew Liam attractive and intriguing. Despite being warned away from him, Winnie and Liam spend more and more time together, despite knowing there’s a time limit on their relationship. And Winnie’s also considering switching jobs. Throw in a strained sister relationship between her boss and Liam’s mother and an abandoned dog she finds in a park, and there’s plenty of potential drama.

I really enjoyed Liam and Winnie’s banter. Witty and cute, Liam is a great British book boyfriend. And with all of the opportunities for things to explode, I enjoyed trying to figure out how things would go down (I was wrong but fine with it. A very sweet story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I loved Kate Bromley's first novel so I was very excited to read her second novel. While it had the same wonderful banter and dialogue as the first book, the plot itself was lacking, specifically the romance part of the plot. It felt like it focused more on the relationship between Winnie and her boss than Winnie and Liam. And Winnie's relationship with Juliette was extremely toxic which fortunately Winnie realized eventually.
I just wanted a little more from this book but I will say that Kate Bromley is the QUEEN of dialogue. She is able to write funny and realistic dialogue without it being cheesy. Even though I thought this book missed the mark, I will still be checking out her books in the future.

When I read Talk Bookish to Me last fall, I was super pumped to find out @katebromleywrites had a new book coming out this summer - and she sent me a signed finished copy! Thank you so much! Here For the Drama is out now, so be sure to check it out!

This book was exactly what I needed this week. It takes place in London, there’s witty banter, a secret romance, a cute puppy, lots of theater, and a few spicy scenes for good measure! I could see this one as a cute movie.

Kate Bromley is easily becoming an auto buy author for me! Author of "Talk Bookish to Me" is back with a witty rom com I am sure you will enjoy!! Winne and Liam are fantastic together. Set in the world of theater, the book follows Winnie's life of balancing all she wants in life. I personally love the dogs name :). This was a fun, fast read and I for sure recommend it.

When this request came across my email as a review request, I jumped at the chance to read it. It was set in London which is always a big draw for me as well as being a romance novel, which is always a go-to for me as a comfort read. Things in my life currently require all the comfort reads I can get. I also realized after I started the book that I have read another one of her novels for review earlier and loved that one as well.

Winnie desperately wants to become a playwright, but she is stuck for the last five years as a personal assistant to one. She has become more family to the woman she works for and vice versa. They set off to London to do a pop-up production of one of her boss’s shows. Along the way, she meets her nephew Liam. Will Winnie figure out what she wants before it’s too late? I adored this book. I kept thinking to myself this would be an amazing movie that I would watch over and over again. It reminded me of a Meg Ryan rom/com. I didn’t want it to end. I totally fell in love with Winnie and all of her quirks. I love that she grew as the story went on and she grew to have faith in herself. Liam had his own issues and Winnie brought the best out of him and vice versa. They wanted to make each other better. I thought that for once Liam having the relationship and trust issues was refreshing. Usually, it’s the woman who has had the divorce and is unsure of what path she should take next.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Winnie’s boss at the beginning but the way she forced Winnie to grow as a person and do something for herself she began to grow on me. In the end, I didn’t think she was a terrible person. I thought the comic relief in the form of Ollie the dog was wonderful. His whole storyline was wonderful and the end with him honestly made me cry. My kids mocked me for once again crying during a book and this time I didn’t tell them it was because of a dog (don’t worry the dog doesn’t die). I literally squealed with delight at the end of the book. It was everything I could have hoped for and more in and ending…. It gave me a year out from the end and then 5 years out. Every book should do that. Sometimes epilogues just don’t cut it. Go out and get this book you won’t be sorry. I will certainly be on the lookout for more books by this author for sure.

I read and loved Bromley’s Talk Bookish To Me last summer so I immediately requested Here for the Drama when I saw it on NetGalley. After meeting Liam as a side character in the first book, I knew I was going to love getting to know him better as a main character in book 2. (I’m calling it book 2, but it’s more of a stand-alone with a character we’ve met before.)

Winnie and Liam had some of the best banter and conversations I’ve ever read! They were both hilariously quirky, nerdy, and weird and I laughed out loud so much reading this book. I loved their honesty with each other and the way they owned their “red flags” and mistakes.

This book is a true romcom, filled with romantic moments, relationship woes (dare I say, drama?!), and scenes that had me snort-laughing. About halfway through the book I already knew it was getting a solid 5 stars from me because I loved the writing style, the storylines, and the character arcs.

I know basically nothing about theater and playwriting, which is a main part of Winnie’s story. But rather than that being a turn-off for the book, I found myself fascinated by the tidbits I picked up about the creative process and what it takes to bring a production to life.

I think a re-read is definitely in the cards for this one. It feels like the kind of book that I’ll pick up to comfort-read my favorite parts on a bad day.

@katebrom has cemented her status as an auto-buy author after two fantastic books! I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Kate Bromley does an excellent job of pacing, with an opening scene that brings you straight into the heart of the story. I had some difficulty connecting with the characters, but find that this will likely vary depending on the reader... The title is perfect -- if you live highly dramatic characters, then this book is for you.

Here for the Drama was a really fun rom-com. Kate Bromley does witty banter and one liners like nobody's business and I loved all the snark. This book read a lot like a less nerve-wracking Devil Wears Prada, but with forbidden romance and with the backdrop of the theater rather than fashion.

A very fun romance with the chemistry and banter that I'm coming to love from Kate Bromley!

Thank you to Harlequin for providing me an ARC of this book.

Book Review:
I really hoped to love this one a bit more than I did, but ultimately the characters were just a bit more quirky in a way that felt fake to me than being able to feel real. I am also pretty introverted so it was hard for me to relate with some of the quirky communication that spanned the book. While the quirkiness was a plus for me because they were unique and memorable with their quirkiness, but at times it felt too much.

That said, I loved the plot and that it took place over mostly 3 weeks while Winnie was on a work trip with her boss and that there was in my mind a two part epilogue at the end that was after the trip to help wrap up the story cleanly.

What I didn’t enjoy: that these quirky characters were super backstabbing and manipulative feeling in many aspects. I just didn’t enjoy decisions made and ways that took the plot at times.

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing and Graydon House for the ARC of this book! I am so grateful to obtain a copy to read in advance of its release in exchange for my honest feedback!

What a cute story! Everything was just so fun.

Winnie and Ollie had my heart, and Ollie was the dog!! Her charisma and one liners were everything!

I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw my Kindle.

Liam was such a great male lead. He was real and relatable. I love the Bromley didn't try to oversell his likability. You just couldn't help but enjoy his character.

I had a dear friend named Roshni who sadly left this earth far too soon. Having Winnie have a Roshni in her corner was just incredible.

Winnie's step mom!!!! Oh I loved her.

Lastly, beautiful Juliette had an amazing show of growth in this wonderful masterpiece!

I read this in one sitting!

Thank you to the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest feedback. I highlighted so many quotes. Sadly, they are all spoiler-ey.

I love wit and banter, and Kate Bromley delivers on both in Here for the Drama. This is a forbidden romance wrapped up in romantic comedy, and it is a fun, entertaining read. The characters are likable - well, the ones we're supposed to like are likable, and Winnie and Liam are easy to root for. The story is maybe a little too saccharine for me, but I was still invested in the romance and wanted to see how it would all play out. Sweet or not, there's a charm about this one that keeps a smile on your face, and it made for a nice weekend read.

You might think that Winnie’s job as a personal assistant to a famous playwright would be enough for her to get her play read by her boss. Her boss is Juliette Brassard and Winnie has worked for her for several years and has been writing a play for almost that entire time. Juliette keeps promising that she will read Winnie‘s play. However, it still hasn’t happened.

That is one of the things that makes the title of this book so applicable. But there are other dramatic things happening. One of those things is Juliette continues to clash with the director of the play that is being rehearsed while they are in London. Also, while there, Winnie meets Juliette’s nephew Liam and they hit it off. But not before Juliette comes up with this great idea for Winnie to date a few other men with hopes of coming up with more ideas for a play.

Loyalty comes in to play in this book, but so does natural drive and ambition. All while Winnie was coming into her own with her dreams, I loved the byplay when it came to Winnie’s “dates”, all while she couldn’t help but fall for Liam.

Here for the Drama was a delightful read from start to finish. From the characters, to the stories within the story, to the pacing, it all worked together in a marvelous manner.

Many thanks to Graydon House Books and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Talk Bookish To Me was a cute and entertaining story, this one is even better. There's a lot of humour, lovely characters, a sweet dog, and a story that kept me hooked and rooting for the characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, highly recommended.

This book captured the same humor, sensuality, and intense emotion as the author’s debut, TALK BOOKISH TO ME. Smart, heart wrenching, and very human, it’s a compelling read.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
