Here for the Drama, which came out yesterday, was a really fun read! The plot follows Winnie, assistant to playwright Juliette. They travel to London for three weeks to oversee an experimental theater group’s staging of Juliette’s well known play. Juliette, overly dramatic as would be expected from a playwright, is struggling with content for a new play, while Winnie is working to write her own play and contemplating an unexpected job opportunity away from Juliette. Winnie starts exploring vacation romances via dating apps to help Juliette gain new material for her play which lead to all kinds of funny stories - and of course Winnie’s attraction to the one person she’s been told is off limits! Witty banter and sarcasm alternate with thoughtful ruminations on what characters strive to gain in terms of career, family, relationships, etc.
This book made me smile while reading it, and I can’t think of a better reason to tell you to check it out! If you like theater or the UK or just a fun romance with strong women’s fiction vibes, Here for the Drama would be a great read for you, too.
This was my intro to Kate Bromley"s writing, and I am excited to read her previous release, Talk Bookish to Me. Many thanks to Graydon House, Harlequin Trade, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I am not only Here for The Drama but I am here for this book. Kate Bromley had me laughing out loud so many times. Witty banter and the situations that Winnie were in propelled this book at lightening speed. This isn’t all just laughs though. There were deep emotions that were portrayed in a very real way. I really enjoyed this one.

Winnie, an aspiring playwright travels to London to help her famous boss stage her latest play, while trying to finish writing her own in time for a competition deadline. While there, her boss coerces her into going on a series of dates around the city - the only rule being that her nephew Liam is off limits.

Thankfully Winnie and Liam don't let this stop them and we get to see them go around London seeing all the sights on a series of adorable dates full of top notch banter and amazing chemistry! Add in an adorable rescue dog, Ollie who steals the show throughout the whole book and this was a solid romcom I devoured in one day!

This is my new favorite book by Kate Bromley and I can't wait for what come next. Highly recommended for fans of books about women writers like Nora goes off script or Meet me in the margins. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy!

Winnie has always wanted to be a successful playwright. She is working on her play while working for Juliette, which is taking her to London for several weeks. The trip doesn’t exactly got to plan however, when Juliette continually butts heads with the director, and Winnie is left trying to keep the peace. Winnie also starts to fall for Liam, Juliette’s nephew, which leaves Juliette none to pleased. Will Winnie be able to keep everything running smoothly?

I listened to this one on audio and I really enjoyed it. I loved the play backdrop, as well as the London scenery. Not to mention, add in a cute rescue dog and everything is immediately better! Juliette drove me a bit nuts, but the Winnie/Liam storyline was just perfect. This is a great fun rom com!

Title: Here for the Drama
Author: Kate Bromley
Genre: Romance
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Becoming a famous playwright is all Winnie ever dreamed about. For now, though, she'll have to settle for assisting the celebrated, sharp-witted feminist playwright Juliette Brassard. When an experimental theater company in London, England, decides to stage Juliette's most renowned play, The Lights of Trafalgar, Winnie and Juliette pack their bags and hop across the pond.

But the trip goes sideways faster than you can say "tea and crumpets." Juliette stubbornly butts heads with the play's director and Winnie is left stage-managing their relationship. Meanwhile, Winnie's own work seems to have stalled, and though Juliette keeps promising to read it, she always has some vague reason why she can't. Then, Juliette's nephew, Liam, enters stage left. He's handsome, he's smart, he is devastatingly British…and his family ties to Juliette pose a serious problem, forcing Winnie to keep their burgeoning relationship on the down-low. What could go wrong?

Balancing a production seemingly headed for disaster, a secret romance and the sweetest, most rambunctious rescue dog, will Winnie save the play, make her own dreams come true and find love along the way—or will the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune get the best of her?

Winnie’s dramatics made me laugh so many times while reading this! Normally, people who go looking for drama get on my nerves, but her heart was in the right place, so I actually enjoyed her antics. The repartee between her and Liam was spot-on, and I couldn’t wait to see where their banter went next. Juliette was a bit much for me, and I don’t know how Winnie put up with her. Even the secondary characters in this novel—like Oscar—were a delight. This is a great vacation read—or work day escape.

Kate Bromley lives in New York City. Here for the Drama is her newest novel.

Here for the Drama was a very fun and lovely story. I read Bromley’s last book and truly enjoyed it, so I knew I had to read this one and actually had a bit of high expectations. Fortunately, the book fulfilled them all.
We have interesting characters, witty dialogues, a lovely dog and a lot of drama and not only from the plays. I really liked Winnie, I liked her humor and her personality. As for Liam, OMG, I totally fell for him, he is so cute. I liked Roshni, Ollie and even Juliette.
The pace was good, but I tried to savor it and enjoy reading it. Soon enough it was over. And I think that it was a good ending for the story. I also loved the way this related to Bromley’s previous book, it was a nice surprise!

Do you know what my favorite part of a romcom is?? BANTER!!! There could be no steam at all, as long as I get banter! And Kate Bromley writes it to PERFECTION!

🇬🇧 Great London setting
🎭 The PERFECT book for theater lovers
🐶 Sweet rescue dog
😂 LOL moments
👩🏼 Some women’s fiction with great growth from Winnie
💖 Sweet romance with wonderful banter!

I absolutely loved Liam and Winnie’s relationship and wanted the book to be totally focused on that, so I found myself a bit distracted by the other storylines revolving around. But, I adored that she let the characters grow and I loved that ending!

Kate Bromley's sophomore novel was a fun look into the London theater world. I enjoyed the relationship between Winnie and Liam and the various family dynamics/drama at play (pun intended) here. Looking forward to seeing what Bromley writes next!

Add to your tbr if you like:
- witty romcoms
- forbidden romance
- strong female friendship

I loved Kate's debut last year and was so excited to get approved for this arc! She has a wonderful way of writing banter between her characters and turning silly clichés into laugh out loud moments. Like her debut, Here for the Drama had an incredible female friendship, this time between our main character Winnie and her co-assistant Roshni. They are both following their boss, famous playwright Juliette Brassard, across the pond to see one of her plays being staged in London.

There are a lot of subplots and minor stories happening alongside Winnie's. She is battling an almost crippling anxiety and fear of rejection when it comes to her playwriting, and she's wildly attracted to her boss's nephew even though Juliette has explicitly told her to stay away from him. Winnie is sometimes a frustrating character to root for, but understanding why she makes some of the decisions she does is easy, as she's a fully fleshed out character. I literally messaged Kate 20% in to confirm that Juliette's nephew Liam was THE Liam that we meet in Talk Bookish to Me. More of just a fun little Easter egg, you don't need to read Bookish first, but I definitely would recommend reading it at some point!

Winnie and Liam's romance was a sweet friends to lovers, immediate interest, but both realizing they only have three weeks together. Both of them are sweet, awkward, tender souls who find each other at the right time. At the end of the day, they both need to heal and grow, things they are unable to do together at this point in their lives. They have to focus on chasing their own dreams and making their own plans. Their friendship remains as they cheer one another on from across an ocean!

Winnie's story is full of ludicrous things she's willing to do for her boss, a life long love of theater, witty banter, an adorable cocker spaniel, and working through her own anxieties and doubts, It took me a little bit to get into the pacing of this one, but once I was hooked, I was all in!

I absolutely loved the London setting! Liam is my first redhead British book boyfriend and hopefully won’t be the last, he was perfect for this book. I really liked the sarcastic sense of humour, banter and secret romance. I wasn’t a huge fan of the theatre aspect of this book but it worked well and I’m sure other people will love it. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.

Thank you to the publisher and @netgalley for providing a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was the cutest romantic comedy with the perfect amount of sentimental writing. Even though it made me tear up a bit, it made me laugh and had me smiling from ear to ear. There is a lot of depth to the MC especially the relationship between Winnie and her boss Juliette. You really get an insight into the characters, as well as their flaws & issues. It’s mostly set in London, and I loved the traveling aspect of the novel. It is the perfect read for summer and for escaping reality.

Winnie is the assistant of a very famous playwright, Juliette, and she has to travel to London for work. Winnie is an aspiring playwright and she finds this to be the perfect opportunity she needed to pursue that dream of hers.
What she wasn’t expecting was to find love across the world, especially not with her boss’s nephew.

If you enjoyed Emily in Paris or are a theater/drama nerd, you will love this one!

You can expect:
* Mostly Based in London
* Witty Banter
* Self Discovery/Taking Chances
* Theater Romance
* Family & Friend Dynamics
* Adventures in London
* Laugh Out Loud Romcom
* Hint of Forbidden Love

Kate Bromley does it again! I love her writing and stories. The banter in this book between characters is so clever. I laughed out loud at some of the unexpected humor. How can you not love a book starting out in New York and then set mostly in London? Two of my fav cities. Kate is amazing at pacing—I kept turning the pages. And, the character development is so good, even with supporting characters! If you like rom coms with emotional depth, this book is for you.

Having read Kate Bromley's debut novel last year, I knew her second novel was going to be an instant favorite of mine and, well, I was right. This book was everything I could've asked for in a rom-com and more. From the sarcastic, witty banter, an adorable dog, and just all the fantastic relationships in this well developed book, I'm in love with Here for the Drama. This book had me crying, laughing, awwing, and wishing for me. I, for one, am looking forward to Kate's next book with bated breath.

Talk Bookish to Me had me laughing out loud so when I saw that Kate Bromley had a new book releasing, I immediately put it on my list. Here for the Drama follows Winnie, a young playwright working on her newest show and working as the assistant to Juliette, a well-known playwright. When Juliette up and moves them all to London for a restaging of one of her plays, Winnie is coerced into coming along.

With forbidden romance, friendships, and the cutest little dog, I enjoyed Winnie's adventures in London. I did feel like a lot of this focused more on her relationship with Juliette, rather than the forbidden romance with Juliette's nephew Liam, like I had hoped, especially since he's also a character from Talk Bookish to Me.

Overall, a fun summer read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my complimentary copy of this book. All opinions here are my own.

Here for the Drama by Kate Bromley was a fast-[aced, fun read. The pacing was great. I didn’t want to put it down for a second!

Kate's debut made me laugh so much with her vivacious humor right up my alley. Naturally, I had to keep her on my radar for any future books she might have publishing. While I didn't find this one *quite* as laugh-out-loud, there are so many clever one-liners. My reading had slown down dramatically recently and this was the perfect antidote to binge read and listen.
Winnie is putting in her time learning her craft, with grand hopes of becoming the next best thing in the playwright world. An opportunity to move to London is one she cannot pass up. She's tasked with dating random guys as fodder for her brilliant boss's inspiration. The only stipulation is to stay away from Juliette's nephew, Liam.
I definitely had one of those head smacking moments when I finally connected the dots of who Liam is from Talk Bookish to Me. I adore those small, Easter eggs from one standalone book to another.
This is one I would recommend in print or audio, as I did both while reading. Natalie Naudus is such a wide-range narrator. I've listened to her with fantasies, YA, women's fiction and romance. I see her name and know I'll enjoy the audiobook in question (even if the book isn't all that.)
Thank you to HTP Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy and Harper Audio for the alc. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Here For The Drama is a cute RomCom that brings readers into the world of playwrights and the theatre. It's an interesting setting but personally, I was here for the banter. I also fondly remember Bromley's previous book Talk Bookish To Me and its saucy humour.

Bromley once again shows off her comedic writing skills with spot-on sarcastic repartee between her main characters. It's so good that I have dubbed her the Bard of Banter. The story has good pacing and features an interesting array of flawed characters, great female friendships (I loved Winnie and Roshni!), and of course, some romance. Ahh l'amour!

I enjoyed the cute courtship as well as the depth that came from issues such as loneliness, career aspirations, familial problems and the complicated friend/boss bond between Winnie and Juliette. Bromley gives readers some solid backstories for her characters, and I appreciated seeing Winnie's flaws and insecurities (although Juliette felt a bit contrived and the focus on her issues was my least favourite part of the story). There's a lot going on with various subplots, but I appreciated the issues addressed and the growth we see in a couple of the characters. And while things progressed differently than I expected, it was an enjoyable and satisfying ending.

Oh, and there's an adorable dog named Ollie. 'Nuff said.

This is a charming story with wickedly witty banter about finding your passion and fighting for it. It would make a great pick if you're in the mood for a cute RomCom this summer.

I loved this book because it was fun, witty, charming, and the main plot was centered around the awesome romance.

Winnie travels to London with her--very demanding--boss, Juliette. Juliette requires a lot of Winnie and Winnie is good for it. She's smart, driven, witty, and does a lot for her boss. But Juliette's nephew, Liam, is the love interest here. And Juliette isn't wanting them to be a couple.

With the backdrop of London and the humor of characters written astoundingly well--this book was a delight to read!
