I have always been a cat lover, and now my own children are ‘“cat people.” I thought the structure of this book was helpful and easy to read. I also learned several new things about cats that I didn’t know (which is a nice surprise). I share the tidbits to my family as I read this book. Two paws up!

I loved the conversational and relatable writing style. I loved the introduction, which was personalized and grabbed my attention. Loved the gorgeous cat pictures throughout the handbook as well. The questions were relatable and answers were very informative.

I recently saw a question on Twitter that asked “Would you rather know how speak every human language in the world or have the ability to talk to animals?” Well, "The Cat Behavior Answer Book: Understanding How Cats Think, Why They Do What They Do, and How to Strengthen Our Relationships with Them" won’t teach you how to talk to your feline companion(s), but it will help you understand him/her/them better!

In this revised 2nd edition, pet expert Arden Moore answers many of questions cat owners have, from why a sleeping cat suddenly gets the zoomies to grooming habits. I enjoyed the “Cat chat” section as I have a very talkative tabby who regularly lets us know when he isn’t getting enough attention. It’s more forceful than a meow, but not a yowl, which I have heard a few times in his 12+ years and it’s scary! He’s very much a purr machine and while purring is usually a sign of contentment, it can mean other things, so it’s nice to have this insight. I also enjoyed learning that cats will go out of their way to hide injuries or when they’re feeling bad in order not to appear weak. Because of this, Moore mentions a head to tail petting session daily just to see if the cat ever reacts differently to human touch. If they do, that’s your first clue something may be off.

Overall, this book gives a great overview about cat behavior. There is a lot of information conveniently organized so you can quickly find what you need, or enjoy looking at the cute cat photos and fun facts shared on the pages. There’s even a cat IQ quiz, which I haven’t given to my cat yet because I have the feeling he won’t do that well.

He’s pretty, though. :)

Arden Moore answers all the questions you have about your cat’s behavior and needs. From litter training a kitten to medical issues to how to deal with finicky eaters, this book has the answers. Any question I’ve ever had about the cats I’ve had in my lifetime was answered here. Beautiful photographs of cats as well as many sidebars with more info, makes this is a must read for cat parents.

This book covers a lot of cases. The only complaint is that it borderlines on too many personal anecdotes? like every scenario relates to one of her cats, which yay more cat pics, but feels little too much.

This book is very timely for me since we are about to remodel and are worried about how our cats will handle the two moves. I am happy to report this book had some good suggestions about at least litter box issues that we are expecting in our temporary and new homes. This book has some general overviews of cat behavior and why they do that they do, but also answers some specific questions. It has a good range of topics that can help you keep your cat healthy and happy.

The Cat Behavior Answer Book is an informative collection of feline related questions and answers. Scattered among the Q&A format there are a variety of helpful facts and tips. This book covers everything from physical attributes to training basics, litter options to travel guides. It really covers a wide range of cat topics.

The section I found most useful was “cat chat” which talks about the different kinds of noises cats will make. I also appreciate that there is an emphasis on adoption rather than pet shops.

I would have liked to see more breeds covered. It only covers the top 10 most popular.

The Cat Behavior Answer Book would make a nice gift for any new cat owner. I think even a seasoned cat mom or dad would find the information it contains helpful especially some of the checklists.

This book was extremely insightful into the behavior of my two furballs! I found it very intriguing and loved the mix of knowledge and stories. I will be gifting this to my family members when it is released!

This book is such a thorough resource for anyone who wants to know more about why cats behave as they do. It is extremely detailed, humorous at times, and charming. I enjoyed it!

As a catmom of 4 cats, I find this guidebook quite helpful. Most of the tips I was unaware about and I am so glad to know my cats more after reading this book!

The book explains well most of the behaviour displayed by cats and the certain habits/routine they have. I appreciate the real pictures and the humour in the writing.

I don't know about the first edition of the book but I am really glad to read this advance reading copy with amazing insights and details alongwith colourful pages and fun writing!

As a cat owner (of 3) I liked the mix of cat facts and personal stories. It wasn’t accurate though- my cat has amber eyes which deffo glow red in the dark not green. It’s a bit of a joke in our house because she is a very loved black fluffy mog with red eyes (read demon).
Overall a nice book though with good advice about give good care to our feline friends. Would recommend to anyone with a new kitten.
Ecopy formatting was a bit confusing in places and I would have liked to have seen the real photos not the shutter stock ones I assume are placeholders.

Informative, sprinkled with facts and reader lead questions, this book felt like it was coming from the sweet spot of “short like a children’s book,” but not too science-y with diagrams of skeletal frames.

Fun fact: a group of kittens is called a kindle, but a group of adult cats is called a clowder. This and other cat facts are presented in a Q & A style format by author Moore. Cat anatomy, behavior, communication, and breeds among other things are discussed in clear, concise language. Training tips and veterinary visits come up in nearly every scenario illustrated. There are even recommendations for naming and caring for our feline friends.
Overall I consider this a five star read, especially if you are new to being a servant of and/or owned by a cat or five. My sincere thanks to Storey Publishing LLC via Netgalley.

Fascinating! I love everything about this book from the cat facts to the questions being answered succinctly but still knowledgeably to the many, many pictures. Beautiful book that would be the perfect addition to any cat lovers home.

I loved this book! The information, surprising facts, and gorgeous cat photos! Not more I could have asked for any cat owner to become more familiar with their house pets, or if thinking about getting a cat.

An easy, enjoyable read, even my nine year was able to easily peruse and find useful information.

This book gives a great overview with plenty of details about cat behavior. It seems there's nothing that Moore can't explain based on her years of experience. She includes helpful facts and practical tips for improving your experience with your cat(s). The colorful layout and cute pictures make the book a pleasure to look at, and the question-and-answer format makes it accessible and easy to peruse. This book is so cute due to the lovelycat photos of different cats. The information is really interesting and helpful. Definitely recommend for a present for a person with a cat. You will definitely keep coming back to this book every so often when your cat does something your not sure in.
