Although I enjoyed the premise of this book, re-examining life in middle age, there were times when I was distracted by the glaring errors about life on Nantucket. Ava and her friends move to the island in February. The first day they wander onto the beach and see a group of lithe young women in bikinis playing volleyball. The average temperature on Nantucket in February is 38 degrees. Pretty brave to be out in a bikini!!
Also, they would have had a hard time looking for abalone on the East Coast. There aren’t any!! The author should have done a little more homework about her Massachusetts setting.
I also think that the characters were not completely fleshed out. I know it’s the first book in a series, but it didn’t create the emotional bond that would bring me to the next book. The cliffhanger ending was also a cheap trick.
Sorry, but this book doesn’t resonate.

Did not like the witch subplot. Did not really fit into rest of book. Spoiler alert: do not believe that having your life out of balance leads to cancer and that a witch can make someone healthy that is going through chemotherapy.

Did not really connect with any of characters, did not feel I really knew any of them. Not interested in 6 more books about same characters.

I was lucky to receive an advance copy of The Nantucket Beachfront Inn from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I found this to be an absolutely delightful book! This is my first time reading anything by Ainsley Keaton and it looks like this is the authors first book in a 7 part series. I can't wait to read the rest of the series to see how it ends. I love anything set in Nantucket and the cover is adorable!

Review:
The island of Nantucket and a B&B inn - so promising!

This story starts out promising: three 50+ longtime friends facing major midlife crises. I assumed these women would be the major characters of the book but before long, more people were introduced - parents, children, contractors and even a witch! It's a quick read but with so many characters, they were never fully developed. The "best friends" didn't seem to know each other at all. Willow the witch and Deacon the contractor were annoying with their constant "Dude" and "Mate" remarks!

I saw that this is the first book in an seven-book series - no, thank you. This book was enough for me. I'm not a fan of contemporary fiction. I'm back to my historical fiction after this!

I was gifted this advance copy by NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

I adore Beach Reads so I was thrilled to receive an ARC of The Nantucket Beachfront Inn by Ainsley Keaton. It is indeed a Beach Read with all the elements of a Beach Read. There's a heroine with 2 life long time girl friends who inherits a 7 million dollar beach house on Nantucket. just when she's on the cusp of needing a change in life. There are adult children with problems, mother daughter issues, a handsome home remodeler, a couple of serious illness and an unplanned pregnancy (2 in fact). Toss in a chef, elaborately described meals., name dropping of actual Nantucket restaurants and you have a quintesimal Beach Read.

This is, for the fans of Beach Reads a fun read, Beach Read cliches not withstanding. For one the 3 main protagonists are not cute young twenty somethings, Instead they are, shades of Just Like This, women in their mid 50s. The plot moves briskly and the characters are winsome. This is the first of seven and considering the number of loose ends in the final chapter the sequel will be equally enjoyable and engaging.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I am on the fence about this one. I see it is the first in the series, however, I didn't love it. It was OK. I couldn't connect or fall in love with the characters. I was thrilled to see the Ava was in her 50's because there are not many books with that age category. I may try to read a second book in this series, but I am not sure that I will. There were so many different directions, lack of depth of friendships, and the storyline was a bit scattered.

⭐⭐⭐💫 (rounding up for ratings)

Have I said before that I hate the genre called #womensfiction? Smh. I really hate the name. This book is not really a romance though there is a little of that. Its definitely not a mystery or any other type of genre. So it gets lumped into women's fiction.

So this book is about a 50+ woman who is questioning working for a law firm who is not as ethical as she would like. Then she gets bequeathed a piece of property by an old client. This woman has 20 something triplets and 2 best friends. The book is about all of those relationships.

The POV changes from chapter to chapter. But the book is not told in first person as most POV changing books are. But you do get a better sense of each of the characters from their chapters. As I stated in my hashtag in the beginning, this is the beginning of a 7 book series. It was enjoyable enough as a stand alone but I think this book would be better read as the full series. Bc this book is told from 6 different POVs, it feels like it's just the intro to a full story. Not the full story itself. That is why the low-ish rating.

Quick, easy reading. If I have the chance, I'll read the rest of her books. I'd love to see the rest of their stories. I'm all about the different relationships. I love a character driven story.

For me, this book was just ok.. it wasn’t bad, just not my typical read. It was more or less your usual family, change of life, romantic read. I did like the setting as I like stories that take place at the beach. Ava, a high power lawyer, is left a beachfront home by one of her grateful clients. After getting disgusted with one of her other important clients, she blows up at him. As a result, she is forced to leave her job. She decides to move to Nantucket and turn this home into an inn.

She has not been close with her 3 children. The son in CA comes to help her get settled. She hasn’t spoken to her one daughter but after she is forced to leave her husband, she shows up there with her daughter. Her 2 close friends also follow her there to help and give support. They also come with “baggage”. Secrets kept are revealed, marriages get a second chance and, I suppose everyone winds up happy although this conclusion is never really spelled out, leaving you somewhat unsure.

Perhaps this would be best read on a beach somewhere. It is fast moving in parts, kind of nondescript in others. Non-serious readers may love it. I thank Net Galley for giving me the opportunity to read this advanced copy.

‘The Nantucket Beachfront Inn’ is my first Ainsley Keaton novel. The novel covered a multitude of disparate topics, unfortunately, many weren’t well developed and necessary to the storyline. I do love stories that take place in Nantucket and I will try another novel written by Ms. Keaton.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.
This is the first book I've read by this author and found it to be entertaining. There are more books expected in the series. I enjoyed the fifty-somethings friendship and how they all reacted to problems in a different way.
It isn't the best book I have read but I will recommend it.
3 stars

I love the premise of this book; a woman in her 50s starting over. I also really liked that she had best friends and a complex family situation. I also loved the setting of Nantucket.

I do agree with other reviewers that there was so much going on that none of the characters seemed to be completely fleshed out. I also have to wonder about editorial issues such as there seemed to be a beach volleyball game played in February. In bikinis. On Nantucket.

I'm intrigued enough to consider reading the next in the series. But I'm not committed to it.

Thank you, NetGalley, for providing this ARC.

The story was good overall. It flowed well and kept my attention, making me wonder where the story was going even at times when I wasn't actually reading. There were a lot of characters and a lot to keep up with. It was somewhat understandable, as the book is the beginning of a 7 book series, so there is a lot of story to get started. It was a bit disjointed and confusing in some areas, which made me go back and look for answers that I really never found. Some of the characters were childish and maybe a bit underdeveloped, but I did feel as though I had a vested interest in what happened to them, so I would read the next book in the series to see where their stories go.

I received this ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. I enjoyed this light story about a woman who inherits a beach front house that she turns into an inn. I liked the many different characters and their own stories and their searchings for happiness and love. What I didn’t like was the story of a witch who tries to heal a woman with breast cancer. I didn’t like reading so much about the witch’s healing powers and her mind reading. The story was good and enjoyable without the supernatural parts

I usually am not much on books that aren't psychologically dark or crime related but I enjoyed this book despite neither of those elements being present. The storyline revolves around three fifty something best friends and their relationship and interactions. They are each unique individuals who handle adversity in different ways but always support each other.'

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

This was a fun book and well written. Apparently, this is the first in what will be a series. There were a lot of loose ends and that always makes me want to continue reading. Good story line, i would read more from this author!

Unfortunately, I'm among all of the other reviewers who indicated that they wanted to like this book, but there were too many things wrong about it.

The concept of three mature friends facing major life crises interested me. But I wanted to see how their troubles brought them closer to one another. Instead, they pretty much kept one another at arm's length the entire time, hiding their problems from each other. Even though they got together every week to share a wine night, they never shared their problems with each other. To me, those aren't friends. Those are drinking buddies.

Then, add in the Wiccan, pot-smoking, and past lives elements, and I seriously considered stopping reading it. I did finish the book though, I guess hoping it would get better or something, but it did not...

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced review copy. But I have no interest in pursuing the rest of the books in the series...

I enjoyed this book about Ava, a mid 50 year old woman who needs a life change. She’s tired of her situation and inherits a beach house. This house and her job loss gives her a chance to start over. Her friends step in to help her. The three main characters and their friendships develop throughout the book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC.

This is the first book from this author for me. I liked a lot. Ava is a tax attorney who went off on her client so she was fired. She had recently been divorced from her husband and was at a crossroads in her life when an old client/friend left her a house. She decides to move to the new house and takes her friends along for support. There is also her children who come to visit and have problems in their lives as well. She decides to turn her new house into a high end bed and breakfast. She hires Deacon, who she is attracted to, to renovate the B&B. I loved all the side characters and cant wait to read more from this author. The love and support from family and friends mean everything in life. This book has all of that and more. My only negative thing to say is I was left with an open ending that i was not happy with. There is no real ending. leaving too many open questions...but i guess that means I will need to read the rest of the series.
