A lovely book on sisters. Sisters can be so different and the relationship between sisters sweet and bitter. They argue and they help each other. You will love their adventures and how they work out their differences.

A special thank you to Kind World Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

A sweet little story that shows the beauty of sibling relationships.

Maddie and Mabel are sisters. Maddie is the elder one; she’s the planner who wants to handle everything. Mabel is the younger one; she wants to contribute more in their fun. Together, they learn the value of having a sibling and discovers the joys of sharing, of having a partner to play, and of adjusting to each other’s wishes.

The sisters’ antics are assembled into five stories, each with a specific theme. Not every tale is moralising. Some of the tales are simply funny! I enjoyed all the little nuggets. The adventures of the children are quite relatable, so children are bound to enjoy this little gem.

This book is written in easy-to-understand vocabulary and each story has a lot of repetitive sentences to aid coherence. What’s worth mentioning is that the dialogues are exactly like the way children speak in real life. So this book will be amazing to read aloud at bedtime with such a writing format.

The illustrations are cute and simple and beautiful. Mabel is especially adorable.

Heartily recommended for bedtime reading sessions with beginner readers, all the more if there are siblings involved.

4.5 stars from me.

My thanks to Kind World Publishing, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), and NetGalley for the ARC of “Maddie and Mabel”. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

How cute is this book?! Maddie and Mabel are sisters, and in this book, we see the overwhelming joy and bonding along with the not-so-connected days of sibling relationships. They navigate a variety of situations together with grace and love. Sometimes Maddie is a bit bossy. Sometimes Mabel doesn't like that. But sometimes, they are each other's greatest comfort. I thoroughly enjoyed stepping into their world and watching their friendship and I found their communication real and relatable. Super cute illustrations truly add to the appeal of the book! Highly recommend.

This book had different short stories about two sisters. They were short for younger kids to read and understand, and all of them had their own purpose. The illustrations are cute and draw you to them. Overall, a cute book about sisters and some of their different interactions.

Sweet sisters book!

This book has short stories that center around Maddie and Mabel. They are sisters that love to play and do all stuff around the house together.

The book is adorably drawn with its cute expressions and lovely color style. The writing style is excellent too, easy for kids to understand and read out loud. It has cute and relatable content that kids with siblings will enjoy reading. I especially love The Fight story; it's a great way to discuss the importance of saying sorry and forgiving.

Thank you, NetGalley, the author, and publisher, for the ARC.

Adorably illustrated picture book about two sisters who sometimes struggle to get along. Despite the difficulties and challenges of playing together, the sisters realize in the end that compromising to play with someone you love is better than playing alone.

A fun, short book for anyone who has a sister. Maddie and Mabel are a realistic look at how an older and younger sister interact with each other. While not everything is perfect, they are still sisters in the end.

I thought this book was a perfect introduction to the ideas presented for young readers. We follow two sisters over various short stories as they develop as people and learn how they need to support each other in the world. I found this heartwarming and clear on the messages it is trying to get across, showing the children reading it how to understand other people. I thought it was great to see the older of the sisters apologise as it showed that even the older one can get it wrong.

Maddie and Mabel is a super cute book about two sisters who sometimes disagree but always talk about it & work things out.. There are very good lessons tucked away in these pages. Also, I love the illustrations. I give this book 4 stars & highly recommend.

This collection of short stories for beginning readers features an older sister and a younger sister with some universal themes of sibling disagreements, bedtime stories, play-acting, and friendship. It reminds me of Bink and Gollie beginning reader books, and would be a good read-alike as there are some similarities.

I did think that the names were so similar (Maddie and Mabel) that it might trip up a new reader. I wish there were more diversity, but if this is the beginning of a series, it would stand to reason that more characters could be introduced.

Overall, this was a sweet collection of adventures and a special bond between two sisters.

Reading "Maddie and Mabel" by Kari Allen made me nostalgic and memories of me and my sister flashed through my mind. I think anyone with a sibling, whether a sister or brother, can relate to this book. It captures what sisterhood is all about--the good times and the trying times. I also really enjoyed the illustrations and what they added to the book.

I received an ARC of "Maddie and Mabel" by Kari Allen from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have an older sister and this book reminded me so much of our relationship. Especially when I couldn’t sleep and I would keep my sister awake or when I would post “keep out” notes on my door..
