This had my mind literally spinning! I had NO IDEA who was doing what, who was sinister & who was genuine. Once I finished, I was wide-eyed, rereading the last chapters & even taking down notes to fit it all together in my head! Now, you may not need to do all THAT, but I will say this is such a fantastical psychological thriller you won’t be able yo put it down!

I’m a proud member of the #KMOD Squad & such a fan of Kiersten Modglin! When she’s got a book out, I have to read it so I knew I’d love this so much. And I did! Intense and glad l got to read an early copy!

Jess Nahikian finished out the greatness of Widow Falls with her narration!

Thank you, Kiersten Modglin, Dreamscape Media & Netgalley for my copy. All opinions are my own.

Of course, this was a hit and thoroughly enjoyed. I think this may have been my favorite of hers but that seems to change every time she writes a new book.

After hearing nothing but incredible things about this author, I knew I had to give this one a shot! I loved the fictional setting at this camp in Tennessee, which is what inspired the story.

First and foremost, I highly recommend going into this book not knowing much. That’s exactly what I did and I was pleasantly surprised!

I really enjoyed this author’s writing style. I found it so easy to follow along and felt attached to the detail of her writing. I also really clicked with the way this book was formatted. I did actually switch back and forth between the e-book and audiobook, which both were incredible.

This was a super quick thriller filled with twists and turns, there were some at the end that had me shocked and I just didn’t see them coming! I loved the addition to Landry’s journal chapter, who is a character that ends up missing early on.

I loved how our main character, Sloane, gets a job as a river raft guide at Widow Falls. It was so emerging and interesting following her take this mid-season job and also reading more about the other guides.

While this was an overall fun thriller, I found some parts to be a bit bothering. For example, Sloane missed so many obvious elements that had me annoyed at her. I also felt like at times she had no sense or realization of the seriousness of what was going on. Also, that ending was meh in my opinion. I liked some of it, but the actual ending had me a bit disappointed. I don’t want to spoil it, but in my honest opinion it felt unnecessary and had me confused… also had me second guessing the whole story, it sorta ruined it.

Overall, I had a great time flying through this thriller. This is my first from this author but most definitely won’t be my last. I really enjoy the way she writes these eerie settings and the amount of detail in her story. I had a wonderful time reading this and it put me in the spooky season mood, highly recommend it!

I appreciated the authors efforts but This book was tough to get into. It never grabbed me. I know many that like this author but unfortunately she wasn’t for me.

Another great surprising ending from KMod! This was a perfect read during the summer and with wilderness woods and rapids, there is secrets being buried deep in Widow Falls. Once you go in, you don’t come out.

The narrator was great.

This book started slow and then really took off!

So many layers!

Twisty, slow burn.

Wanted to love it, but couldn't really connect with the characters.

I can still see why every one and their brother loves Kiersten Modglin's novels. I'm hooked and not upset by it.

It’s not just a job for Sloane. She’s replacing someone that was a guide for an upcoming rafting trip. It doesn’t take her long to realize that there are a lot of rumors, perhaps myths, or folklore even, that are being spread about and she soon finds her self embroiled in an impossible situation.

One simple clue that includes a secret message begins a roller coaster of events that pull Sloane into a direction that she has no control over. One of the things that she wonders is who is it that she is replacing on this rafting trip? Why did that individual disappear and what is all the whispering and plotting that is going on every time she turns? Simply because Sloane wants answers does not mean that she’s going to get them. In fact, the more she pushes, the more danger she faces.

In this fast-paced story, the reader will be left guessing. Every time you think you have the answer, think again, because the tide literally turns quickly leading to a complicated web of activity, danger and suspense.

Many thanks to Kiersten Modglin and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Sloane thinks she has landed the job of her dreams. Being a guide at a white water rafting camp, what’s not to like? When she finds out her predecessors have gone missing, she becomes obsessed with finding out the truth behind the mysterious Widow Falls. This is a fast paced thriller with twists and turns throughout. The final twist was totally unexpected. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life and added an extra layer of intrigue and suspense. A constant sense of foreboding kept the tension going until the shocking conclusion. Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my audiobook. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Widow Falls ~ Kiersten Modglin - audio arc
Sloan takes a job at a whitewater rafting camp. She shares a one room cabin with 5 other guides. Sloan is replacing a guide that left the camp.. The longer Sloan is there the more she learns about the legend of the falls, Widow Falls. The guide she replaced, didn't just leave, she went missing. And it's not the first time guides have gone missing from the camp. But when she finds a clue, in the form of a diary, of one of the missing guides, Sloan starts to question who she can trust and how much of the legend of the falls is true.
This intense thriller will have you questioning yourself and what you are reading. The mystery and the twists with it's shocking ending will leave you dumbstruck and have you scavenging back through the pages to see if there were clues that you missed. This book will keep you on the edge.

Kiersten Modglin is AMAZING! I have yet to find a book of hers that I don't like. This did start a little slow for me, but the twists and surprising ending made up for it completely. Highly recommend picking this up - and everything else by Kiersten as well.

Well I didn’t expect that ending! I was really interested in what was going on in this company, and I was super confused as to the reason why someone was dressing his workers up for a black tie event. That was cagey enough. Everything that happened after that was a whirlwind and I enjoyed trying to figure it all out in my brain. The ending was critical. I really enjoyed that twist.

This book is my favorite so far this year! It was one of those books I couldn’t put down !! The narration was really good , I thought it fight Sloan’s nervous personality. There are so many good plot twist in the in book. I’ would definitely buy this for friend . I really like the cover I thought it suit it well. I thought the very last part was a little confusing because I could tell who was pretending to be Sloan . Just glad she got out and Chase and those goons seemed to be getting the justice for all the Human trafficking they had done..

I enjoyed this Kiersten Modglin thriller! As with all of KMod's thrillers, this one was chock full of twists and turns. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a page-turning, twisty suspense novel.

Sloane has recently lost both of her parents and she is looking for a fresh start after highschool. She learns of a position at a raft tour company, where room and board is included. It is far enough from home to be a fresh start, and when Sloane meets the other young people who are also raft guides, she feels that this would be a fun diversion until she starts college. However, upon entering Widow Falls, she soon gets a sick feeling and a premonition that something is not right. Upon further investigation, Sloane discovers that the raft guide whose place she took, has since disappeared. Sloane takes it upon herself to determine what happened to the missing girl, and soon she is caught up in a mystery that may end up costing her her life.

With unique and interesting characters, a quick pace, and twists and turns, this book you will not want to put down until the very end. I listened to this book on audio and have to say that the narrator did a really great job.

Although I enjoyed this book, I knocked it down 1.5 stars due to some of the dialogue was not well written. K Mod fans will love this book, although I have read many of hers and I have to say that her earlier novels are better. This one appears to have been hastily written and does not seem to be the same level of writing as her earlier books. That said, I would still recommend this as a fun fast read.

Special thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for an Advanced Reader Copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

How over the top dramatic can a character be? Within seconds of meeting her fellow EMPLOYEES, Sloane considers them her family. Family? Perfect strangers? And every single thing that happens to her is ominous through her eyes. Rational people would not make the wild jumps to conclusions full of threat and evil this character does. Perhaps as the story unfolds it presents the “evil” Sloan so overly dramatizes from page one, but her over-the-top melodrama makes the development of the story more annoying than thrilling.

I quite enjoyed this audiobook. I enjoyed the characters and found them to be relatable. The story line is easy to follow. It's a good pace getting the listener to the climax of the story. I appreciated that the story did not focus too much on river rafting itself, as I don't know much about river rafting.

I liked Sloane a lot. I can understand how difficult it can be to join a group who has already been with each other for a long time and trying to figure out where you fit in. As Sloane attempts to find her way with the group she feels that she may have found something to help when she discovers her missing roommates journal. However, Sloane was wrong, very very wrong. She should have trusted her instincts from the very beginning.

I was quite surprised by the ending of the book as it was not something that I even had playing around my mind as to what was going on. I especially like the way the characters story for Claudia and Sloane end.

The narrator was easy to listen to. I sometimes had to laugh though at her depiction of the male voices. It made me picture the males as young college aged male boys, but they were mostly all in their 30s.

Rating 5 out of 5: I really enjoyed this book. I found it hard to want to put down which is always a good thing in my book. The best part in my opinion was honestly the way the story unfolds at the end. It is just such a huge surprise and twist, that it makes you think back to how you may have missed the clues to what was going on.

I hate to give a 1 star review but I felt this book needed it. The story is very repetitive and slow. I never felt any connection to the characters. They all acted like teenagers, when most of them were in their 20's and one was in his 50's! The ending was a let down.

I only recently discovered Kiersten Modglin, but am quickly falling in love with her trademark complex characters, dark atmospheres, and wild final twists. I'll definitely be looking into more from the author after this story, which is quite different from The Arrangement Books but with those common threads.

Widow Falls takes place in a remote part of Tennessee where Solane joins a team of whitewater rafting guides at a camp and quickly discovers she's in over her head. From the way no one will discuss what happened to Landry, the guide whose job she's taken, to the scary legend that gave Widow Falls its name, Slone can't help but feel that the place is hiding dark secrets.

When she finds the diary of the mysterious Landry with a cryptic warning written in it, things really heat up and Sloane doesn't know who at the camp she can trust. If she can trust anyone at all.

Secrets continue to unravel as she tries to find out what happened to Landry and why no one will discuss it before anyone else vanishes.

This is a moderately-paced story, and I loved the creepy camp setting and the mysterious vibes that are present throughout the story.
I think the narrator did a great job telling the story and doing voices for all the different characters. It was a gripping listen and I highly recommend the audiobook version for this book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.
