This was the first book by Kiersten Modglin and it won’t be my last! It’s was intriguing and threw you for 2 twists that you just don’t see coming. Just when you think you know how it’s going to end, you are thrown for another twist that you don’t see coming. At first glance, Widow Falls camp seems like a pleasant place to work for Sloan, but she finds out that things are not as they appear!

***** I received an ARC of the audiobook from NetGalley, the publisher, the author, and the narrator for my honest review.

This was such a fun book! I have been reading a lot of books with an adventurous feeling to them, but they've been so cheesy. This one is just right. I love the twists, the thrills, the setting, and the characters. The end... Omg! So juicy!

I enjoyed listening to this one. There was a little bit of confusion at the end on who was talking and what happened with a few characters but the story kept me interested throughout the whole book. I liked the main character, which is not always true for psychological thrillers and that made it a pleasant read.

Missing

Psychological terror at its best. This story will keep you guessing until the end and just when you think you have it figured out...you don't.

Sloan takes a summer job at a rafting camp thinking it would be a fun job after school before she decides the rest of her life. It is a secluded spot in Tennessee called Widow falls. After arriving she hears it is famous for missing people. Several other guides for the camp have gone missing never to be heard of again.

The other guides tell her it is just folk stories and not to worry about it everything is fine and she is safe there. She can't help wondering what happened to the guide before her that disappeared. She digs into it and tries to find out. Then she finds a clue in a hiding spot beneath her bed.

Sloan soon realizes all is not as it seems at Widow Falls and that she should heed the warning she found under her bed and trust no one. That is especially so for Claudia, the one guide that dislikes her from the beginning. Sloan must find out what is going on before another guide goes missing.

A great description of the river and woods in Tennessee, the cafe in the middle of the small town was a good touch.

This was a good read and the twist at the end was perfect, I loved it. The narrator did a wonder job. I would recommend this book.

Thanks to Kiersten Modglin for writing a great story, to Jess Nahikian for a great job at narrating it to Dreamscape Media for publishing it and to NetGalley for making it available to me.

This book was so good. So full of twist and turns. I never saw anything coming keep me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I never would of thought that it was about human trafficking. Must read book of 2022!!!

All I can say about this book is that it sounded way more interesting than it actually was. Maybe if Sloane was more of a likable character it would have been different but I don’t know since she wasn’t and it all was a bunch of boring nonsense for most of the book it just wasn’t great. I started this out in audiobook form to do an audiobook review however had the actual book not been out I would not have finished it because it was painfully boring. You could literally skip whole chapters and not miss anything. The story just wasn’t good the characters weren’t good and the ending was just bad. The narration was fine though. Honestly I don’t know how anyone at all liked this book that is the real mystery to me.

Taut thriller that will keep you guessing! Twists and turns, with tons of suspense. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this book!

I listened to the audio version of this book and really enjoyed the narrator, she was animated and helped bring the book to life. I listened to another book by this author a few months ago and enjoyed it so I had high hopes for this one as well. The characters, likable or not, were described in detail, the plot was entertaining and I found the twists interesting. I will look for more by this author!

Widow Falls by Kiersten Modglin is another winner! Sloane is a new water rafting guide in a small town in Tennessee. Weird things start to happen almost immediately. The characters are all likeable and unlikeable. Each has a story to hide. I really do wish that the scenery was described more because it would have added something more to the mysterious plot. The twist is a good one and I did not quite figure it out.
Jess Nahikian, the narrator, was really good. I liked the tone of her voice. The pace was perfect. I could listen to her again.

For quite some time I’ve been wanting to read Widow Falls. After having it sit in my kindle library for awhile due to having other books to read on my TBR, I was lucky enough to be approved for an audiobook ARC.

The story follows Sloane, an orphaned college graduate looking for work. She gets hired at Widow Falls as a white-river rafting guide. Quickly she finds out the guide before her up and left the camp unexpectedly without a word but she begins to wonder if more sinister things are at play. Could she be next? This story will keep you on your toes while second guessing everyone’s motive and overall mental well-being.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. If you’re a fan of thrillers such a Verity, (think manuscript) I think this book would be a good one for you to pick up + it’s on kindle unlimited!

As a first time reader of this authors work, I loved the tone of
the Landry's journal chapters. The final twist at the very end made up for the less than thrilling “twist” at the beginning.
although I found many of the earlier twists to not be as out of the blue as
The narrator did a great job bringing the whole cast of characters to life. Sloane had an interesting character development. I did find some of the motivations of various characters to be off putting. Overall thankful for the opportunity to receive an arc and being able to provide this review

The plot for Widow Falls was very interesting and the narrator was very good. Kiersten Modglin has had several books that just did not work for me but Widow Falls was much better. The atmosphere and the characters weren't as well developed as I would have liked and the ending fell a little flat, overall this story held my interest and the narrator helped elevate the experience.

This was my first Kiersten Modglin book and it absolutely will not be my last. The writing was engaging even though there wasn't a whole lot of action. The character development felt really compelling and the story made me want to keep going to see what Sloan could uncover next! When it started out being about a river rafting group, I didn't think there was much that could happen with that plot, but I was really wrong. There were lots of twists and turns and I didn't know who to trust or believe. All in all, I really loved it and I can't wait to read more from this author!

All in all this was an interesting listen. Throughout the book I kept asking myself why Sloane didn't just leave..... It is fiction though not real life and a pretty good story line. It wasn't really holding my attention but I'm glad I stayed with it!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me access to an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

As is typical Kiersten Modglin produced a fast paced thriller full of twists and turns. I loved the writing as usual and I especially loved the tone of the Landry’s journal chapters. I really liked the final twist at the very end although I found many of the earlier twists to not be as out of the blue as I normally find with this author’s books. I loved the narrator and thought she did a great job bringing the whole cast of characters to life. Sloane recently graduated from college and wanting one last grasp of freedom before figuring out what she wants to do with her life she lucks into a mid-season job as a river raft guide at Widow Falls. She lucked into the position because the girl before her, Landry, left mysteriously. She’s trying hard to fit into the group when she stumbles across Landry’s journal which starts with telling her she shouldn’t trust anyone at Widow Falls. I did find some of the motivations of various characters to not totally make sense at times and I felt like Sloane especially had no sense and missed obvious stuff all the time. Overall this one was 3.5 for me which I rounded up for star selection.

Sloane goes to work as a guide at Widow Falls after graduation, but she soon realizes the place had more secrets than it appears...

I am conflicted about this book. I loved the build up, the tension ratcheting up. I enjoyed the character of Sloane, who like many a thriller protagonist is a somewhat unreliable narrator due to the anxiety and paranoia that has plagued her since her parents' death. She felt like a real person who did the best she could in the circumstances she was in.

On the other hand, I felt the explanation fell a little flat after all that excellent tension - it felt too prosaic, and there were some last minute twists I was ambivalent about.

I really liked the narrator though. She did a good job with Sloane's quavery emotions and voice, and her narration really lifted the story and enhanced the tension.

Overall, a very good read for the first three quarters, a good read for the denouement.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing access to the audiobook version of Widow Falls by Kiersten Modglin. I have heard so much about this author on my various book-lover groups on Facebook that I have been chomping at the bit to try one of her books.

Widow Falls was well narrated. It was a really fast-paced thriller about a woman who is alone in the world taking a job at a rafting outfit where she is to live and work as a guide for two years under contract. Almost immediately upon arrival she is whisked into a mystery of a previous guide having "disappeared". The other guides who have been there much longer than Sloane. They are already tight and seem very secretive about the previous guide, not answering any of Sloane's questions. Sloane finds a secret journal that leads her to believe there is something sinister happening and pursues the answers.... even if it may kill her.

I enjoyed the book and it was a very fast listen. I debated on whether to give it 3 or 4 stars and 3 won out since 1. I found the plot to be unbelievable and 2. Something happened at the end of the book that confused me enough that I really wasn't 100% sure of what it meant....I hate confusing endings.

This was my first Kiersten Modglin book and I really enjoyed it. This gave major summer vibes and kept me interested the entire time. I enjoyed the narrator as well. Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this ARC. 3.5 stars.

I really enjoyed this one! Widow Falls by Kiersten Modglin was a constant roller coaster of twists and turns and trying to figure out what exactly was going on at the Falls and what exactly the other guides were hiding. This story started off easily enough. Sloane takes a job at Widow Falls to be a whitewater rafting guide. Though the area has a mysterious past, Sloane is ready to take on something a little different after graduating college and going through a family tragedy.

Sloane finds a journal left by Landry, a former guide that supposedly left of her own accord mid-season, and whom Sloane replaced. Things just don't add up though, and as Sloane reads more and more of Landry's journal, will, she just doesn't know who she can actually trust there.

There are so many twists and turns that I really never knew what exactly was real and not real. This book kept me guessing the entire time and I didn't want to stop listening to it until it was finished! Jess Nahikian did, in my opinion, a great job narrating this audiobook. Her performance brought the characters to life and drew me into the story. I would definitely recommend listening to this book. It was a fun ride!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Kiersten Modglin for this audio-ARC in exchange for my honest feedback and review.

A fast pace good read that pulls you in from the start.
This young woman just finished school, and lost her parents. She is lost in the world and doesn't know what to do next. She finds a job working at a camp called Widow Falls. She is excited at first until she learns that people who have been there previously have gone missing.
This was a twister of a book and I really enjoyed the story line. I did have the audio version however and the narrator was a bit over dramatic for me which I felt took away from the book. For that reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 4 stars.
