In the fifth and final book of Dukes gone wrong we get Finch’s story. It is the book I was most excited for, since I loved his character in the other books. I’m just gonna be honest and say that this was not great and not much really happend. But here we see Finch overcoming his trauma from the past and we also finally get to know why he was sent to the school. This book hurt so much and Aston is amazing at writing a terrible background and making your heart hurt. I loved the way Victoria handles and makes him more comfortable was absolutely amazing

Five boys accused of horrible acts that did not commit, banished from their homes, and sent to Turner Academy, a school for troubled boys. They become brothers of the heart and are affectionately known as the Turner Terrors. This is Finch’s story. He was the only one of the Terrors who did not share the reason for his being sent to Turner Academy, and the only one who did not make the military his career. He became a vicar. His reason, to serve others and to save his own soul.

At his brother’s death, Finch becomes the one thing her never wanted to be, the Duke of Sommersby. When he comes to London his fellow Terrors and their wives support and help to acclimate him to his new role. He also meets Victoria Samuel, Lady Pemberton, a widow just rejoining Society. Victoria and Finch are drawn to each other, but Finch, wracked by the secrets he carries from his childhood, doesn’t want to bring his pain to her.
Victoria is perfect for him. She is patient, kind, and compassionate. She encourages him to open up and let go of his past. I love that she was instrumental in repairing the rift with his mother. There are scenes in this one that make you angry, scenes that break your heart, and finally scenes that make you happy for the last of the Turner Terrors to find love. A compelling story, awesome characters, excellent series.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

We finally learn about the mysterious history of Finch, the fifth and final member of the Terrors. And his past is filled with unspeakable abuses and abandonment from members of his family, leaving him to believe he is best suited for a life of solitude.

But he can't seem to stop himself from spending time with the most charming widow of the ton, Victoria. However, their hopes for the future are at direct odds --- while Finch is scarred from the events of his childhood and never plans to marry, Victoria is desperately seeking someone with which to have a family of her own.

The book was a slow burn, but in the last 25% you really got to see Finch & Victoria's inevitable love shine. A wonderful story about freedom and love and a fitting ending installment for this group of friends & their wives.

Finch has a secret, one that he has always kept from the Turner Terrors. Unable to forgive himself or move on, he has lived a quiet life as a Vicar. But all of that changes when his older brother, Cyril, dies. He becomes a Duke. Victoria is free from her marriage. As her father basically sold her to pay his debt, she has never been able to make her own decisions regarding her life or her future. As the married Terrors and their wives have decided to take Victoria under their collective wings, Finch finds that he has no choice but to spend time with the only woman he could possibly love. However, he doesn’t feel that he can forgive the sins of the past and that no one could love him as he is. This story is a brilliant conclusion to the series.

This is the final book in the Dukes Done Wrong series and man oh man, Alexa Aston saved the most savagely emotional plot for the last book. I have been waiting for Finch's book since the first book, and this exceeded any expectation I could have had. Finch is the only terror not to reveal why he was sent away to the Turner Academy, and this story will break your heart. There's a reason they say "leave the best for last."

Victoria as a heroine was unexpected and strong, and Finch came to terms with his past and learned to heal so that he could move forward in his future.

This series is well thought out and wonderfully written. Each of the character's have their own unique personality that flies off the pages.

I would strongly suggest that a reader check the trigger warnings before starting this book, as it contains some difficult and taboo topics.

Thanks so much to NetGalley, Dragonblade Publishing, and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

William Finchley carries a secret from childhood which he has never shared with anyone, not even his closest friends. When his brother Cyril commits suicide, Finch becomes the new Duke of Sommersby. He attend his first Season with no plans to ever wed—until he meets Lady Pemberton
Victoria Samuel, Lady Pemberton, returns to Polite Society after a year of mourning a husband who was murdered by a whore. She yearns for children, which is the only reason she faces the gossiping ton, hoping to find a husband of good character. Finch and Victoria are drawn to each other but Finch believes he is too broken and undeserving of love, even after he weds Victoria and then abandons her. Only when the mother he believes betrayed him shares with Finch how he should take a chance on the healing power of love does Finch decide to let his heart speak to Victoria.
This is the finale of the series & the author has kept the best until last. I’d been intrigued by Finch all the way through the series & couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. I knew if it was anything like the rest of the series then I’d need to start it early in the day & make sure I wasn’t going to be disturbed. Well it was my favourite of the series, it was a very emotional read, my heart bled for Finch as a young boy, I cried with him when he read Cyril's letter & loved how he came into the light. I also loved Victoria who also hadn’t had an easy life. Together they were perfect for each other. A very well written book with strong damaged characters. Their journey to a HEA was wonderfully told if heart breaking at times & made for an amazing read
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

My favourite of this series most definitely.
I’ve been waiting for Finley’s book and hoping to discover more about the circumstances of his being sent to the school where the Terrors meet.

This is the one that all secrets are told and wow are they going to open your eyes and break your heart.
If you loved the rest of the series, this is a must, don’t miss it.
Excellent writing from Alexa.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

What a finish to an awesome series...

I cried and smiled - am happy Finch and Victoria had their HEA. Would love to see all the terrors few years down the line... An extennnnnnndeddd epilogue please 😁😁

Two emotionally wounded characters coming together - definitely destiny. Not everyone will be able to understand the scars (mental more than physical) of abuse. Glad Finch found Victoria.

Heart broke for the child and to think about it happening to several helpless children til' date and all of us being so powerless to do anything to put a complete stop to it - makes the heart very heavy.

Overall a wonderful read.

Destiny with a Duke is book 5 in the Dukes Done Wrong series and we finally find out why finch was sent to the Turner Academy all those years ago.
Finch becomes Duke of Sommersby after his brothers death. Finch was living a peaceful life as a vicar in the country and was not prepared to live the life of a Duke.
Lady Victoria Pemberton is a young widow who wants nothing more than to remarry and have a child of her own.
I was super excited to read this book and it did not disappoint. We finally find out why Finch was sent to the Turner Academy. All I can say is that it was very sad and horrific what happened to Finch and I felt so sad that no one was there to help him as they were all to frightened and bullied by the same man.
I loved the instant attraction that Finch and Victoria had. They were very well suited and it was great that both of them could put there pasts behind them so they could move forward with there marriage.
A great conclusion to a fantastic series that I have thoroughly enjoyed.

Final book of this series, but works as a standalone. Finch has never shared the events that led to his banishment from his family, but finds himself holding a title he never wanted. Victoria's husband abused prostitutes and was murdered by one, leaving Victoria to return to society in hopes of finding a better match and ultimately a family.

Lady Victoria Pemberton finds herself a widow after the murder of her husband. Her marriage was not a happy one but the circumstances of his death will affect her life for a very long time. Our heroine is hoping for a new husband and maybe children when she rejoined society.
William Finchley had a terrible childhood until he joined the Turner Academy and found four other boys who would become brothers of his heart. The Turner Terrors all lived together until the others joined the military and he became a vicar.
Our hero has never come to terms with his past and until he does he will never heal.
This is a very emotional historical romance with fabulous characters.
I have loved every one of the books in this series. All the "Terrors" have their own book, so each can be read on it's own. I would however recommend reading the series in order just because you will meet the others in all the books.
A marvelous series.
I loved it.

This is the 5th book in the Dukes Gone Wrong series by Alexa Aston. This is the story of William Finchley, who was traumatized by his grandfather while very young. It is a secret that he has never shared with anyone. He was happily tending his flock as a vicar when his estranged brother commits suicide making him the next Duke of Sommersby. He heads off to London for the season, but has no inclination to wed, but then he meets Victoria Samuel, Lady Pemberton.
The Duke’s entourage and their wives decide to help Lady Pemberton return to society after her husband was murdered by a woman of the night the year prior. She has concluded her year of mourning, but in society’s eyes she is as much at fault as her deceased husband. Victoria longs to remarry and have children of her own.
Finch and Victoria feel a deep connection, but the trauma of Finch’s past is blocking them from being together. This was an interesting book with some very heavy parts, but was quite enjoyable. I would recommend it to people who enjoy the historical works of Jennifer Ashley.

This is the final book in the series and it was the one I have been waiting for.

I have been very curious about why Finch ended up at the Turner boarding school and why he become a Turner Terror. The chemistry between Finch and Victoria melted my heart, but truly the connection was made when they both say this was their first waltz. This is a wonderful ending to this series and the connections each of the Terror's have with each other and how their wives really take everyone under their wings make me love them more and more each book. A great series and definitely a must read just not for the love stories but the great twist that each story has towards the end which keeps you guessing.

Of the five books in this series, Destiny with a Duke is the most heart-breaking. Finch is the only one of the Turner Terrors who never spoke of the reason for being turned out and banished from his home. With his family turning their backs on him, the only ones he could depend on were his fellow Terrors and his benefactors, the Earl and Countess of Marksby. Appraised of the death of his brother leaves Finch the new Duke of Sommersby, unprepared to face the responsibilities ahead of him. Without the assistance offered to him by his friends and their wives, Finch knows he would never have coped. When he first espies Lady Victory Pemberton, he feels himself being drawn to her, but with his past, Finch is not prepared to commit himself to relationships or to marriage. Victoria is the perfect woman for him in every way. She understands the horrors of a marriage gone wrong and the indignity of the scandal unleashed on her in the wake of her husband's murder. Finch's reactions to his past and the flashbacks he experiences are fully consistent with the horrors he endured and it is a brave author willing to tackle this subject, sometimes referred to as “The World's Best Kept Secret”. Just when he thought he had lost everything that is most meaningful in his life, the mother that had been absent when he needed her most, steps into the breach, demanding that he faces up to the past. In Victoria, he finds compassion, healing, and restoration. I received a copy of this emotional, but very worthwhile, novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Oh, Finch, how you have been hurt by those who should have protected you the most but come out the other side a wonderful, kind man. I read the previous book and was intrigued by Finch and could not wait for his story. The pain, sadness and heartbreak he had to go through to heal was so real. I loved how Victoria's optimism was a boon to Finch and helped him to be among his peers.

I did hope that Finch would tell his mother what had occurred. I feel that she holds much responsibility in what happened to her son's and she should also hold their pain and know that is why they both turned out the way they did.

This book is the perfect conclusion for the delightful Dukes Done Wrong series, with the story of the much awaited last Duke, Finch. William Finchley is the most mysterious character of the series because we never learned what he did to be sent to the Turner Academy. And when his secret is finally revealed, it becomes clear why he wanted to hide it from everyone…
As it happened with his fellow Turner Terrors, Finch inherits the Dukedom at the death of his older brother. He was having a peaceful, if not happy life as a vicar in the country when he’s suddenly swept away to London and to his duties as a duke. He’s not prepared for this new life at all and he doesn’t want it. Just like he doesn’t want to fall in love, marry or have children, never. But fate has other plans…
Lady Victoria Pemberton is a young widow who was forced to marry a much older man and suffered through eight years of neglect and absence of love. She yearns to marry again and have children. And she’s finally having her first season after all this time and looks forward to enjoying it. The mysterious and apparently cold Duke of Sommersby is undoubtedly attractive, but can he be the right choice for her?
I looked forward to reading Finch’s story and I wasn’t disappointed AT ALL! This book is definitively the best of the series.
Sometimes a character just stands out among the others, appeals to your heart and for me this character was Finch since the very first book of the series. Rarely have I been so moved by a character as I was by Finch. He’s broken, he’s suffering, he needs saving… And Victoria is perfect, just the woman from him. I like that these apparently strong, but very vulnerable men draw their force from their women and this is true for all Turner Terrors. Finch’s story is so heartbreaking that I found myself crying quite a lot at the end. The topic is undoubtedly difficult to deal with, but Alexa Aston did it with honesty and surprising delicacy. I couldn’t put this book down until the end. Definitively a five star read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was very curious what Finch's back story was. I was surprised by the outcome. Victoria is patient yet straight forward with him at the same time. That's just what he needed. Victoria needed love and acceptance. She gets this from Finch's friends and their wives, then later Finch. I' m glad that Victoria had her Uncle and Aunt, they were very supportive.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. These are my opinions.
I absolutely loved this book. This is the final in the series Dukes Done Wrong and it does not disappoint. Finch, as a second son was sent away to a school for errant boys after his grandfather died, Years later he is a Vicar in a small parish. His brother, the Duke, passes away and he has to take on the responsibilities of being a duke. His friends from school help him adjust to the Ton and the social life. He meets Victoria, a beautiful widow who had a terrible first marriage. They have unmistakable chemistry between them, but, Finch has vowed that he will never marry after the way he was abused by his grandfather. When they do marry, he leaves on their wedding night.
It was a wonderful end to the series and I would recommend it to anyone who loves romance. Definitely a five star read.

I am going to start by saying this book can be a trigger for people who have been a victim of sexual assault, as it plays a big part in the story.

Now, for my review. I have been waiting for Finch's story from the very beginning! All the other Terror's opened up about why they were sent to the Turner's School, he never told his tale, and what a heartbreaking story it is. Instead of going into the military, he becomes a vicar, because he feels it suits him better. After an unexpected turn of events he becomes the Duke and therefore has to go to London where he meets Victoria. Victoria is a widow who desperately wants children and a partner in life. As she gets to know Finch, she wants that man to be him, but he is determined to never bring his hurt and pain into her life.

There are many heartbreaking scenes in this story, but there are also many heartwarming moments. I love how Victoria knows what she wants and decides to go after it, and her strength. It is the perfect contrast for Finch's vulnerabilities. I absolutely adored this series. I will be looking forward to other titles by Alexa Aston.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, this book is really hard to read. Be warned if you have triggers. Alexa does not shy away from the taboo subject (not that it is explicitly talked about). I love both characters in this story. They both suffered and they bother overcame their hardships. Finch took a great deal longer but sometimes things are just too hard to share and accept help. This is a heartbreaking story but keep reading it because a happily ever after is achieved. We have been waiting on Finch’s story and Alexa does not disappoint. The Terrors come together and it is a beautiful read. Finch’s story is tied for my favorite book in this series.
