Paige and Josh were super cute… sexy as could be! But, their story seemed to drag on just a little bit. The romance was steamy, and there were definitely some sweet parts. I loved the cat café and the supporting characters!

This was a sweet romance with the "secretly dating my sister's best friend" trope. I absolutely loved the setting, the cat café, NYC and Brooklyn were described so well. I felt like I was there discovering the sights and sounds of the city. The love interests, Paige and Josh had great chemistry. Their relationship was so cute and electric! As with all romances there is conflict. Both Josh and Paige are at a crossroads in their life where they are trying to determine their priorities between work, friends and family. What risks are worth taking? What sacrifices are worth making?

All in all this was cute. There were some parts that dragged on towards the end for me. I also got a little frustrated with Paige and Lauren, Josh's sister. I felt that the end could have had a little more substance. I enjoyed it when Paige and Josh were together. Their banter was written well. I also loved the circle of friends and the CATS!! 😻 I listened to the book on audio and it was narrated very well.

3.5 stars

I absolutely judge books by their cover and this cover is adorable! I discovered that this is the second book in the series so I quickly read the first—super cute, loved it—before I started this one. The story itself was just as adorable as the cover, perfect for a fast, fun read! I can’t wait for the next in the series! I listened to the audio version and the narrator was perfect!!

This book had me at cat café! I am not a cat person, but I love the idea of a cat café, and I really enjoyed the premise of this book. You had a best friend’s brother romance mixed with the challenges of finding a stable love life in New York. For me, that is all I needed to enjoy this quick, light read. I also enjoyed the narrator as this book was easy to follow on audio!

Thank you, Netgalley, for sending me this audiobook. I greatly enjoyed this performance.

As a cat lover and romance reader, Kate McMurray’s books always call to me - love the covers, love a set ups. However, I unfortunately wish the follow-through was as good as the premise.

WHAT THE CAT DRAGGED IN was indeed cute, but that’s pretty much the main thing this book had going for it (beyond the cats, of course). The characters were fine, but I wasn’t attached to them. I think this would have been a stronger story if told in first person, as opposed to third. The writing was fairly elementary and I felt pretty distant from the plot and our narrator’s emotions. I’m rounding up my star rating because again… CATS. But I do wish I loved this one more.

This was such a cute story. I'm a cat lover, so a story based in the vicinity of a cat cafe is a must read for me.
I haven't read/listened to the first book in this series- so this can definitely be read as a standalone. The audiobook for this was fantastic!
I did wish there was a little bit more to Paige and Josh's interaction so we could see more of why they developed feelings for each other. I really did enjoy the introspection in both of these characters. I especially related to Paige in that she was almost scared of jumping into a relationship that had the potential to work out because she had gotten use to her pattern of failed dates.
I'm looking forward to going back and reading the first book

This was a really light and quick read and I really enjoyed it. The characters were likeable and had chemistry and although I did find some parts repetitive, it wasn't enough to make me annoyed at the book or the pace. It was overall very cute and I would read more by this author.

I've been on a romance kick lately, and I've been chasing that warm, fluffy feeling. I was drawn in by the cover (and cats). However, this book just didn't do it for me. I really disliked Paige -- her reasons for not wanting to date Josh were stupid and unfounded and she went about the whole thing so poorly that I actually wanted Josh to leave her at more than one point. She was immature even though she was "mature" in her life. Ugh. Beyond that, I wasn't a fan of the writing, especially the dialogue -- it was too stilted and forced. This book just wasn't for me.

I also wasn't a huge fan of the narrator. I'm wondering if the narrator's version of Paige was one reason why I couldn't get on board with her character...

This book was very cute and funny! Paige and Josh met during a cat event and ended up being partnered together and found they were both attracted to each other. After spending the night, Paige finds out Josh is her best friend/boss's brother. Lauren's opinion on their relationship matters a lot to both Paige and Josh. The story take us on their journey of trying to find a way to be together while navigating Paige dating her best friend's brother. I really enjoyed this book and it would be something I would have read as part of my normal TBR pile.

I listened to What the Cat Dragged In by Kate McMurray (eyyy cool name) this week. I mean like I read the synopsis of this (shocking I know I literally never read them) and I saw this was about a girl who works at a freaking cat cafe and I immediately requested this book. It was very cute! I enjoyed it and all the cats with Austen names!
The trope in this book is best friends brother. Definitely insta-love. I’m usually skeptical of siblings friend or friends sibling books because there is always so much pining and that makes me want to claw my eyes out. To clarify that was not the case here.
There was pining but not to the point I was annoyed. It was a cute and in my feels amount.
What I’ve done with this book is something I HATE which is reading a series out of order so now I have to go back and read the first book. I already bought the ebook so I’ll get to it eventually. Again, how could I not love a book about a cat cafe. Literally a dream.
This is a very cute very sweet book. Read it if you need a little pick me up. I certainly did after all the dark stuff I read this week.
Thanks to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, DreamScape Media for the advance copy of this book! It comes out fairly soon on December 7th! Check it out!

**3.5 Stars** rounding to 4 for NetGalley and Goodreads.

Thank you Dreamscape Media, Kate McMurray, and NetGalley for the advanced eARC of "What The Cat Dragged In".

Paige is finally at a good place in her life. She has good friends, and a great job. The only thing that's missing, is someone to share it with. Josh, is her best friend Lauren's brother. When she meets him at a local cat rescue fundraiser without realizing it is, things get interesting. Much to Lauren's dismay, Paige and Josh cannot help but be drawn to each other. They have some serious chemistry. Worried that Lauren won't approve, they agree to keep things under the rug, but eventually the cat is out of the bag. What happens when their happiness is on the line?

I thought this was a cute read. Very predictable as most RomCom books are. But I enjoyed it. The narrator was very pleasant and I think she did a great job expressing all characters!

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this before it's publication date.

2 star rating for me. This book sounded very promising. A love story centered in a cat cafe. How cute right!? I had thought so too. Unfortunately it wasn't. The begging half of the book had a lot of promise.

Paige and Josh meet at a cat fundraiser. They hit it off and go back to his place. She spends the night there and thinks hes too good to be true. She looks for things like , signs of a woman living there. Instead she finds a picture of her best friend and boss, Lauren. That's when she finds put Josh is her best friends brorher.

I find it kind of odd that she didn't at least know what josh had looked like prior to this event. If they're best friends why didn't she see as much as a photo of him?

I feel like instead of it dragging on with not wanting to tell the truth of the extent that they know each other they could've came clean sooner.

I also really didn't find the humor in the books either. Paige is kind of annoying and it just wasn't there with comedy for me.

Unfortunately this one just didn't work for me. I was drawn to the cover and the plot sounded great.

I'd like to thank Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the chance to review this audiobook ARC ahead of release.

This book was a solid 4 stars for me.
The story was cute and engaging and the the characters were lovable for most of the story.
I really loved Josh! He was total HUSBADOO material! He was charming, funny and he knew what he wanted. He was so smitten with Paige that you couldn't help falling in love with him.
I started off really liking Paige, she was strong, funny and independent. BUT she was also very indecisive!
& for a third of the book I just wanted to shake her and tell her to get her "stuff" together.
But she finally did at the end and it saved the book for me.
Lauren was a torn at my side for a bit too but she came around.

( Spoiler Section will be added to the Goodreads review )

The Narration:
This book would have benefited from a duel narration since you get an outside view of Josh and Paige.
BUT Suehyla El-Attar Young was AMAZING!
She had a very unique voice for her main characters.
A lot of the times both male and female narrators fall short when speaking in the opposite sex's voice but she was great! I loved the little touches she added to the narration whether it was a laugh, or a tiny change in the delivery it made me believe the story.

Overall, What the Cat Dragged In was a fun little listen. Yes, it had me screaming into the unknown with Paige's lack of decision making skills BUT Josh's swooniness made up for it.
I would totally recommend this book and I'll be on the look out for more of Suehyla El-Attar Young's narration work!

We’ll that escalated quickly. We’ll look at what the cat dragged in.. pun intended! From the minuet Paige and Josh met there were flames! Everything is all fun and flirty until Paige realizes exactly who josh is all bets were off. Will things continue to steam or sizzle out? I love the narrators in this book they really make you feel like you are there!
