Thanks to NetGalley and Sara Ennis for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved the first book of the series, and I was similarly impressed by this one. I enjoyed the multiple POVs, the plot, and the deeper dive into Angel.

Fair warning, this book, as with The Dollhouse, is DARK. I’d advise anyone who reads it to exercise caution, and check trigger warnings before diving into this book.

First time I've read this author, and I really enjoyed it. I noticed that this is the second book in the series, but enjoyed this one separately well enough. Enjoyable throughout.

I had to go back and read the first in the series before continuing on to this. Sara Ennis can write a twisty fast paced story! Loved the characters. Plot was a bit implausible at times but definitely catches your attention and is hard to put down.

While just as brutal and difficult to read and stomach as the first book, there wasn't the same sense of urgency with this one. I actually did like the story, it just felt different. Not sure I will keep reading this series, though I loved the first book.

I enjoyed this sequel as much as I did the first novel. I would recommend this to a friend. This took me on twists and turns that I very much enjoyed.

Angel story picks up again two years later. Sara Ennis has a great understanding of how to portray dark and serious matter which make your finger and toes curl. After reading Dollhouse you get to know Angel she now turned 17 and meets a new friend called Emily. New character introduced and such a dark story however it is very well written. This book is the sequel to The Dollhouse and the second book in the Duality trilogy. If you’re like me and you’re unable to stop a series once you started it, then you’ll understand why I had to read this one. I didn’t care for this one as much as The Dollhouse, mostly because it was hard for me to get past some of the crazy coincidences, something I struggle with for most books. However this book contains the same dark and gruesome writing as the first which is really what made this book for me. So to no one’s surprise, yes I will be reading the final book in the trilogy, and I’m really hoping for a fantastic finale.

I'm seriously OBSESSED with this book! Edge of your seat thriller! Gave me such anxiety! Everybody needs to add this to your TBR list immediately!!! Kind of a mix of Big Sky Season 1 and the movie Hostel. So hard to put down! Definitely my favorite read this year!

It's the second book in a series and can be read as a stand alone, but I would recommend reading the first book in the series The Dollhouse first, which was also a pretty twisted read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sara Ennis for this DRC.

TRIGGER WARNING: Rape, Sexual Abuse, Physical/Mental Abuse

Book #2 in the Duality Series by Sara Ennis.

What do you do when you find yourself running from the very person that is supposed to help you???

Angel Evanston survived ‘The Dollhouse’ two years ago and is determined to live a life that honours who she is and hopes to become and not the person that was traumatised and suffered at the hands of a crazy man. Angel is on the road with her new bestie CB in her 18wheel home away from home. After skipping town and the well meaning Baden family.

Meanwhile, Emily and Harper are embarking on a journey to the rest of their lives, leaving Texas behind to find fame and fortune in L.A. After a stupid (unforgivable) mistake that Oakley, Emily’s boyfriend makes Em and Harpy are about to pay - perhaps with their lives.

At a road stop Angel finds a bloody, beaten and traumatised Emily in the bathroom and Emily retells her incredible and terrifying story of the Sheriff who stopped to ‘Help’ the girls but took them to his ranch to torture, rape and HUNT them.

Emily managed to somehow escape but is looking for help to rescue the still captured Harper. Will Angel be able to help save Harper before the next Hunt begins and what is CB keeping a secret from her bestie.

What a ride, this book in comparison to the first book was night and day. While I really enjoyed the Dollhouse, my major complaint was that it was a bit long and the sentence structure was a bit too descriptive. It is as if the author has plucked those thoughts from my own head and changed up the style. The flow of this book was a dream. Short chapters, short sentences easy to read structure and a bit of sarcastic humour thrown in there. 🫶👌

Angel is still our main character but she is older and the author has done a fantastic job of writing the same character but making her every bit the 17 year old she is. Kudos to Sara Ennis, for being able to portray a young girl who is old beyond her years but still has teenage sass. 👏

At the end of book one Angel (at age 15) had struck out on her own determined to make her own life - the Baden family while kind and loving just felt suffocating to Angel - she met CB who saved her life (literally) and took her in and onto the road for the truckers life. 🚛

CB comes with her own baggage but she is a funny, gorgeous Latina woman who drives a bright pink (yep) ‘18 Wheel Rig’. I really thought she was awesome and I would have loved a bit more of her in this story and I really hope she is appears in Book Three (The Mercy:Angel of Death). 💃

Angel comes across Emily - who has been badly tortured - in a truck stop bathroom and she helps Emily to open up about what happened to her. After an unforgivable act made by her boyfriend who was giving Emily and Harper a ride to L.A. He leaves them stranded at a truck stop with no money and no way of getting anywhere. Enter the ‘friendly’ Sheriff who picks up the girls to take them to safety. 🚔

Little do they know he is about to take them to their absolute worst nightmare and ‘Vero’ a psychotic crazy lady who wants to ‘play’ with them. 😱

The book is broken up into multiple POV and keeps a good timeline - we hear from Angel, Harper and CB. It is easy to follow and the author brings to the forefront some horrific torturous events but rather than explain in graphic details that would have been stomach retching, she tells us just enough to allow our imagination to fill in those terrifying blanks and there I think is the true genius of this story. The showing the reader and not play-by-playing each individual cut, bruise, rape and graphic detail. 😬

I don’t know about you but my imagination is pretty darn good and I was biting my nails and gripping my pillow pretty tightly throughout. 🫣

The ending while nice and neat is a little too neat for me - it was good to see an end to the Alfred story, and see some HAPPY 🤗 times - the author does leave us a little tidbit at the end where you gasp and say Noooo but we know there is another book so lets hope we find out more. 😮

Overall, I preferred this book to the first one and if you weren’t interested in the storyline of the first book you could easily read this as a standalone there is enough detail about Angel in this to get to know her backstory without having to read book one. I think its worth a read but it is a little long so if you don’t have the time or inclination my recommendation is to dive straight into this one as it is the better book. 📚

Thank you to Good Girl Charlie, NetGalley and the author for my copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Hunted, by Sara Ennis. What an amazing book this was. I was totally blown away by all the bad butt, kick butt woman in the book. CB and Angel work very well together. I was happy to read Emily and Harper get back their strength, their confidence back as they stared down at the devil at the gates of hell.
The action was a no stop heart pounding Mack truck barreling down the dirt road at the speed oh eight five or higher. The twist and suspense from the Will to survive was intense and insanely scary. It was a nail biting situation for me from the beginning of the book to the end. I was surprised that all the strength and courage comes from a young seventeen year old girl. Yes some of the dialogue did have a few childish comments in there, but it was the excitement of the plot and everyone’s number one mission and or goal… get Harper.
I give this book two snaps and a, Vero! You are one wild crazy bench! Everybody run she’s loose! Until next time my fellow readers… read on!

This is the second book in the series and if I thought the first one was good, which I did, this was even more thrilling.
Angel has been riding along in the truck with CB, they make a good team but one time after they made a stop everything is about to change.
Is Angel going to be getting herself in to even more danger?
If you loved the Doll House then you are certain to enjoy this

Thank you netgalley for a copy of this eBook in exchange for an honest review.

After surviving some pretty terrible traumas, Angel is living on the road with her truck driver best friend/mother figure, CB. When they stop at a rest stop, Angel sees a horrifically abused woman in a bathroom stall. The woman, Emily, tells Angel she escaped a ranch where 2 people were torturing her and her best friend Harper, who is still there and needs to be rescued. Angel knows she needs to help and puts herself back in danger's way to help Emily rescue Harper before it is too late.

When I first got this ebook, I did not realize it was part of a series. Before diving into this book I decided to read the first book of this series, The Dollhouse. The Dollhouse was an absolutely un-put-downable page turner that I could not get enough. (*Trigger warning: there are scenes with graphic child abuse)

When I finished The Dollhouse I immediately started The Hunted: Sins of of the Father. I ended up staying up until 1am reading the book in one sitting because I could not put it down! I loved how the books bounced around between a few different characters so we got a feel for why some people were making certain decisions. I loved the character growth in Angel, especially from book to book. I felt her character was a realistic portrayal of a 17 year old girl who has been through a lot of trauma and has some trust issues as a result. Some books turn characters like this into whiny brats with horrible decision making skills, or alternatively an instantly brave superhero type character.. Angel was a healthy mixture of both traits with a far more realistic feel.

There are some very graphic details in this book as well. I can see that turning some people away, but I thought it was a great wait to show how villainous Vero and Jonny were and also how unbelievably brave Emily and Harper were.

I will 100% be pre-ordering the final book in this series...and probably reading that one in a single sitting too!

Okay, it’s official… I am HOOKED on this series. This book is told in 1st person from multiple POVs, Angel of course being one of them. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. It was an absolute page turner. I loved reading about the characters from book 1 as well as the new characters introduced. The chapters are short and leave you wanting more. Also, Vero had me sooo intrigued even though I despised her. I highly recommend this series if you love thrillers. I can’t wait for book 3 releasing May 1!! 😍

Title: The Hunted: Sins Of The Father
Author: Sara Ennis
Rating: 4.5/5 Stars (Rounded up to 5 stars on GoodReads, Netgalley and Amazon)

“Everyone has something in their past that impacts who they are now. Bad things happen, and we can’t always control them, but we sure as hell can control what we do afterward.”

This is the second installment of the Duality series. This book is mostly told in the span of a few days in the multiple points of view of Angel, CB and Harper. This one had me super interested from the first chapter, just because I was not sure exactly what was going on, but I needed to know more.

In true fashion, Ennis manages to combine a psychological thriller with absolute horror and she writes a tale full of gore and mutilation. This book reminded me of a train wreck, I would cringe at so many parts, but I couldn’t pull myself away from it. Also, Ennis does a phenomenal job at recapping what happened in the first book , The Dollhouse. She does this through a few chapters in the book, which I love especially if anyone plans to read this as a standalone (I highly recommend reading the entire series though!)

I really like the character development of Angel in this one. The hauntings of her past and the psychological affect that her past has on her is explored so well. I also felt connected to other characters in this one as well. I really felt for these characters, my heart physically ached at points. I also loved the ending of this one, it was the perfect way to lead into a third book.

This one was a quick read, and is honestly action packed, one that will keep your heart racing. There is never a lull in the story, I read this in one sitting. This series is a much recommended series, but beware there are definitely some disturbing parts. This one is definitely worth the read.

I had to DNF this one at 33% because it was much darker than the first one and had my anxiety so high…

I fell in love with Sara Ennis when I read her book, The Dollhouse. This book was the perfect follow-up for Angel. We saw such character development, in Angel and her personal life. This book was 5 star for me, due to the fact of character development, writing style, and plot twist. Sara Ennis is an auto-buy author.

This was a dark but all to believable story in which young girls are used and abused and freed into the world only to be hunted down.
I hadn't read the Dollshouse, and although the book reads perfectly as a standalone I feel I may have understood more of Angels motivations if I'd read it.
The characters are well written and believable, you want to get behind them. CB is a favourite. It's hard to say much about this without spoiling it. The plot is intense, incredible and you should just go read it.

This story interconnects the lives and fates of a few women. Angel who has a history that seems to be painful and traumatic comes into contact with a girl named Emily. Emily who seems battered and tortured but is trying to save her friend Harper. Does she help her and potentially relive her past or even potentially get hurt in the process of trying to save a stranger?

WOW! THIS is how you do a riveting, mind-blowing, jaw-dropping sequel!!! I was hooked from the first twisted page to the last! Sara Ennis has DEFINITELY joined my list of favorite authors. I am SO excited for the thrill ride to continue in the next book!!! This series deserves to be at the TOP of your TBR list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am recommending it to all of my fellow "bookies".
