I unfortunately did not read DollHouse, so I didn’t have the backstory for this book. It read okay as a stand-alone.

17-year-old Angel has experienced a trauma of her own, so when she finds Emily, beaten and bruised, crying in the bathroom at a rest stop, she finds out what’s wrong. Emily’s friend Harper is still in danger, so Angel enlists the help of her friend CB to create a rescue mission. Imagine David Parker Ray combined with Robert Hansen, and that is your villain.

I felt this book was geared to YA readers, except for the graphic scenes, and it greatly decreased my enjoyment of the novel.

This book is best read after reading The Dollhouse. It follows the main character Angel after her escape from the Dollhouse and what happens to her next. This was absolutely addictive and such another great story by Sara Ennis I just can't get enough of her books she's definitely an auto buy author and a new favorite of mine. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is the second book involving Angel. She has been out on her own for two years. Once she connected with CB, she was able to be safe and start to trust others. When she finds a young woman hurt in a bathroom, one would think most people would walk away and hope for the best. Not Angel. She jumps right in to save her. She is definitely not prepared for what is to come. After she commits to saving Emily’s friend, the reader is not prepared for what happens to the whole group. I base my opinion of a book on the emotions the book makes me feel. When a book can get me to laugh, cry, gasp, cheer and curse at characters, then I know it is a good book.

I received this book book from NetGalley and publishers. I never read from this author books I thought it looked very good and wasn't let it down, the suspense is amazing in the story. I could not put it down. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

I loved the first book The Dollhouse so I jumped at a chance to be one of the first ones to read this book. It was so good! I could not put it down. I would definitely say this book was more horror than thriller. If you struggle with death and gore this is not for you.

Angel is on the road with a trucker. After what happened to her in The Dollhouse she just did not feel she could live with Olivia. There is another girl in trouble and Angel cannot turn her back on her. It nearly gets her killed again.

I really hope Angel's story doesn't end here!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the #gifted copy of this book.

The Hunted Sins of the Father
I give this book 4.25 stars

When Angel finds Emily, bloody and traumatized, in a truck stop bathroom. The story Emily tells is incredible.
Emily has escaped but Harper is still on a ranch. Angel must choose between turning a blind eye or being the kind of person who helps others, even if it means putting herself in peril – again.
The next hunt is about to begin.

This is book 2 in the Duality series it can be read as a standalone but l recommend you read The Dollhouse.
Like the first book l couldn’t put this down once l started reading. Fast paced, full of suspense and plenty of action, short snappy chapters and more horror..
We learn about our main character Angel and what has happened in the last 2 years,we’re introduced to CB who l love, and Bud has a place in the story to.
Dark and twisted,Sara Ennis writing style draws me in and leaves me wanting more……..can’t wait for book 3!!
With thanks to Netgalley and Sara Ennis for my chance to read this

This was a very strong second entry. I found the pace to be perfectly measured and I enjoyed the change in narrator and the story progressed. This is very dark and disturbing, and the violence is more graphic than the first one. I enjoyed confusing time watch Angel heal and move forward, although I preferred the first book somewhat more. I think the dollhouse concept was slightly more engrossing. Still really enjoyed this and am excited for the third book in the series!

Firstly thank you Sara Ennis for having me on your Arc team and the free copy of this book for an honest review.
This book follows the first book “The Dollhouse” (which I thoroughly enjoyed) and is best read first before reading this one. It follows Angel having escaped the Dollhouse, now on the road with CB in her truck travelling across the country and trying to get over her trauma and loss.
When they stop at a truck stop Angel finds Emily bloody and traumatised naked in the stops restroom after having been in a traumatic experience herself she knows she must help her.
Emily tells Angel and CB that she and her best friend Harper were abducted by a sheriff and tortured and she was then turned loose on his farm land to be hunted down like an animal.. Emily managed to get out alive where no one has before and asks Angel and CB to help get her friend Harper free and safe before it’s too late.
If you like a gutsy grizzly book this is for you !

Thank you @netgalley and Sara Ennis for a copy of this arc in exchange for my honest review.

WOO! This book was a rollercoaster. I loved seeing how Angel functioned with life after her ordeal in the Dollhouse. I love her savior complex and how she used it to help others in this book. I loved the “good” characters in this book especially the trucker. The plot was good but I felt I needed more backstory on why the “hunting” started and not just who started it. I plowed through this book so fast because it had you that drawn in. I can’t wait to read what Angel got going on next. All in all, I gave this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
💫

If you have checked out this author yet, I suggest you do it asap. You won’t be disappointed.

I didn't like this book as much as the first book, The Dollhouse, probably because there was no mind-blowing twist like in the first one, but it was still a great read, and really packed with action!

During the first half of the book, I found the CB and Angel chapters kind of slow. The few Harper chapters sprinkled in-between were terrifying, brutal, and cringeworthy. So much darker than The Dollhouse, holy! The second half of the book was all action and suspense, I didn't want to put it down!

The sporadic Spanish words irked me, because I don't speak Spanish and I had to look up what a few things meant, but otherwise this was a great read and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

This is book two in the Duality series. I'm keeping this review very short because there isn't much to say without giving away too much especially for those who haven't read the first book.

Just while I thought The Dollhouse was bonkers, The Hunted was on a whole new level.

Angel, you have been to hell and back double fold, just somehow you manage to go all blaze going in again. Girl, you honestly have some explaining to do.

A new story brings in some new characters such CB, an almost motherly/sisterly figure for Angel, new victims, new abusers and some of the previous characters too.

Thank you so much @Netgalley and @saraenniswrites for gifting me an ebook to read and review.

And Sara, you have delivered two incredible books that have kept me up into the night reading and I say bring on book three. I do not want to miss it.

I like this better than the first book, The Dollhouse. I was able to read this quickly, and found it hard to put down. I enjoyed reading about Angel after her escape from the dollhouse. I loved reading about how Angel helped Emily. It was definitely another dark book, but if you read The Dollhouse, you must read The Hunted!

𝔹𝕆𝕆𝕂 ℝ𝔼𝕍𝕀𝔼𝕎💫

Earlier this month I read 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐷𝑜𝑙𝑙ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑠𝑒 by author @saraenniswrites and was totally addicted. So obviously I had to get the second book in the series 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐻𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑑: 𝑆𝑖𝑛𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐹𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟, and holy wow was this an amazing thriller.

Just like in @saraenniswrites 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐷𝑜𝑙𝑙ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑠𝑒, the second book is super creepy, disturbing and leaves you wanting to sleep with all your lights on. Both books in this series are great however, I found myself liking this second book even better than the first!

For all my thriller friends, who love dark and disturbing reads- this book is for you! You can read this as a stand alone but it’s so much better if you read 𝑇ℎ𝑒
𝐷𝑜𝑙𝑙ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑠𝑒 first!

SYNOPSIS: “What do you do when the person that is supposed to help is the one you’re running from? Angel Evanston is about to find out.

When Angel finds Emily, bloody and traumatized, in a truck stop bathroom. The story Emily tells is incredible: a sheriff abducts and tortures women, then turns them loose on his ranch to be hunted like animals.

No one has escaped… until now. Emily got out, but Harper is still on the ranch. Angel must choose between turning a blind eye or being the kind of person who helps others, even if it means putting herself in peril – again.”

This amazing sequel is out tomorrow- 12/1! Get yourself a copy!

Loved this one by Sara Ennis. Full of crazy twists and turns. Kept me on the edge of my seat. A great author! Really grabbed me at the beginning and never let go. Characters were easy to relate to and kept me invested in them.
Highly recommend this one.

The Hunted: Sins Of The Father - Sara Ennis

The Dollhouse (the first in the series) is a superbly dark and involving psychological thriller about abducted children imprisoned in a basement by their twisted captors.

The Hunted: Sins Of The Father continues the story of Angel, one of the the survivors from The Dollhouse, but it is a very different kind of book.

Angel in living on the road with CB, a sassy best friend mother figure trucker. When Angel finds an injured and abused woman in a restroom, and hears the horror story of the ranch prison she's escaped from she throws caution to the wind and decides she must help the woman, and try to help rescue her friend who is still captive.

It's an all out adventure quest, on a mission to locate the ranch then try to free the friend, there is plenty of threat, interspersed with graphic torture and violence.

I found it a fast and thrilling ride, while I prefer the psychological tension of The Dollhouse, this is a very entertaining and different book. If you loved The Dollhouse you are bound to enjoy this, though perhaps for different reasons.

After reading two books back to back there's no doubt, Sara Ennis writes dark, fast and compelling books. I'm looking forwards to reading whatever she writes next.

Thanks to Netgalley and Sara Ennis

After reading and enjoying The Dollhouse, I just had to find out what happens next! I was quickly drawn in to this intense, horrifying thriller and finished in less than 24 hours!! While Book One was disturbing, The Hunted was loaded with more violence, horror and suffering. Physical and psychological. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! This is exactly how I want to feel while reading a thriller!!! And...I hear that there's another book coming in the spring of 2022!! Sign me up!

The Hunted: Sins of the Father is Book Two in the Duality series and is the continuation of Angel's story. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I would definitely recommend reading The Dollhouse first!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me free access to this DRC. I loved it!!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱: 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗢𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 is the sequel to 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 where we follow Angel, who now has to help 2 other young girls from their abusers. This is a book you need to go in as blind as possible so I won’t offer a synopsis. While The Hunted can be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend you read both in sequence, as this book makes multiple references to characters and events that took place in book 1.

Also, if you thought The Dollhouse was dark, this book is much, much darker in the lines of horror literature. Both books have rampant abuse and violence but this sequel has 2 evil psychopaths who take it up a notch ten fold. So if book 1 made you squeamish, you might want to be in the right frame of mind to read this one. I had no hesitation to give 5 stars for book 1. But for The Hunted, I had to think for a bit, not because it doesn’t deserve 5 stars, it definitely does (and dare I say, was even better than book 1) but because it made me question if I must be a void soul for offering all the stars to such a savage story! 😂

Here’s the thing. This book is so great because Sara has a way of catapulting your attention with the characters’ thoughts and actions. When the bad characters engage, you can taste their viciousness. When the victims narrate, you viscerally feel their fear, dread or conviction to escape, but escape they cannot. Once you’ve experienced this book, expect to face a major book slump with your subsequent reads. That’s how fabulous this book was.

If my review convinced you to check this book out, grab your copy tomorrow on pub day (purchase link in my stories). Watch out for her third sequel 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐲 in Spring 2022!

4.25-4.5⭐️
Gore score 4/5

Duality#2

Angel has been on the road for 2 years, following being held captive then left without a family. She has been lucky to meet up and travel with a trucker nicknamed CB.

Both the writing style and Angel instantly feel recognisable. The writing style is engaging.

Angel and CB come across Emily who has been badly abused but is too frightened to report it as the perpetrator is a member of law enforcement, and he is still holding her best friend Hannah captive.

Another dark gritty book with a difficult subject matter.

Angel makes decisions that are integral to the storyline, I really struggled with her poor decision making, however CB explained it in a way to make it more believable.
It also relies on coincidences that were a step too far for me to fully buy into which has affected my rating.

There’s still great tension, a really good pace, plenty of entertainment value, engaging characters and antagonists to hate. There are some emotional scenes too. It has more action orientated finale.

I like the ‘conversations’ that Angel has with Bud.

To sum it up, it’s another great read, but not a WOW book this time for me. For plot it’s 4.25⭐️ for entertainment value and character engagement it’s 4.5⭐️
I’m looking forward to the next instalment.

I couldn't put The Hunted: Sins of the Father down at all yesterday. I started reading it first thing in the morning after sending the kids off to school, with my cup of tea in hand. Throughout the day, while doing housework and running errands, I would steal in a chapter here and there and by the end of the day I had to binge read the last 50% - it was so addictive! ⁣

Book one, The Dollhouse, was dark and twisty and I didn't honestly think Sara Ennis could match it but boy, oh boy, she really has. This book was just as intense with so much action packed into it. Less gory than book one but still enough to have you squirming in parts.

I devoured this book. It can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading The Dollhouse first. I loved the nonstop action and short chapters. I can’t wait for the third book!
