Adina has always liked the idea of a small-town life. Think cheesy movies straight up from your typical romance comedy movies found in Hallmark or your cozy show like the Gilmore girls. Then something sparked in her when she found out that new condos were being built in Pleasant Hollow. After all, she was stood up once again and figured that a change could be good for her. What if she compared what it's like living in a small town versus where she was now? She was in for a rude awakening when she realized that small-town men weren't as chivalric as they were portrayed in the movies or books. Ooops!
This book was absolutely cute, and had a bit of a realistic approach to small towns. Those Hallmark movies always made me think that the love of my life was just a small-town away, but that's definitely not true! Overall, I liked that it was a cozy read and quite light-hearted. There were definitely some steamy parts here which I was not prepared for, but definitely interesting! I'm just glad that Alina was able to sort out her problems and ultimately found the love she was looking for. I would definitely recommend this book if you're looking for a feel-good book.

This delightful, funny rom com was just what I needed on a cold winter day. I love everything about Adina Gellar. She's goal-oriented, driven and hopelessly romantic. The plot is familiar and yet not predictable, the references to Hallmark movies and beloved TV shows keep the story light and fun, and the Jewish representation seals the deal. I truly enjoyed rooting for Adina to get her happy ever after. I will read anything and everything that Meredith Schorr writes.

As someone who has always enjoyed Hallmark movies and romanticized the small town life I loved this book. Not because it was exactly like each of those stories but because it showed that life isn’t always going to be like that. It was messy and complicated and both characters were able to admit when they were wrong. Something I like to see just as much as the cookie cutter holiday tropes. The combination of a nice light read with real characters was a delightful surprise. I’m excited to see more from this author!
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!

I ended up putting this book down at the 56% mark. I struggled with the immaturity of Adina and her naivety towards small town living. I also had a feeling who Finn was from the moment she stepped on his construction site , so there wasn't much surprise there.

Not what I expected at all but I love it. I enjoyed Adina’s realistic emotional love rollercoaster we twentysomethings experience. The ending left me with my mouth hanging open.

This book just wasn’t my cup of tea, but I know others that would love it! It felt like it wanted to be a rom-com, but then got too serious with the alcoholic father. Adi seemed incredibly immature throughout most of the book. Idk. I loved the idea of it, but just didn’t pan out for me when I read it.

I read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! It was quite honest, in terms of how people are in certain places and circumstances, and showed that not everyone is going to be your best friend.
I liked that it was somewhat unpredictable and unlike many romances to date.
The chemistry between Adi and Finn was hot, and his issues for not wanting a relationship were valid.
The novel was easy to read, and kept your interest. I think many romance readers will be pleased with this one.
4.5 stars

This book is the epitome of real romance is not like in the movies...especially Hallmark!
I like this new spin on a rom-com, actually portraying how non-romcom-esque real life can be, and how it's truly more messy, painful and sometimes heartbreaking than we imagine them to be.
Adina comes to a small town thinking she's going to get the Hallmark romance of her life and all will be well. Perfect job, perfect boyfriend, perfect town. But when she realizes that real life isn't like the movies, she has to accept and acknowledge that life is messy and hard, but there is so much to be grateful for in the life that you have.
The reason for my 3 star rating is because the chemistry between Adina and Finn felt a bit forced for me and it didn't really read as a romance, rather than a self-discovery and "obtaining new perspective" story. Also, Adina's expectations were a bit high in general, in my opinion.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the earc in return for an honest review.

Struggling journalist Adina Gellar needs her big breakthrough. One late night epiphany has her pitching a story about a small town that is threatening to be overtaken by a big business building condos. In her mind, Adina imagines a Gilmore Girls styled town where everyone is friendly and close-knit, with the corporate boss inherently being the villain. Turns out, the town is anything but. Adina finds many people off-putting, closed off, and excited that the condos are opening new businesses to the town. Even he corporate boss, Finn, is anything but a villain. He's just a complicated man who is straight-forward with his interest in Adina. Will Adina be able to salvage her Hallmark story, or will she have to give up on her one chance at a big break, and maybe even love?

Finn is the obvious highlight of this story. I love when love interests have various layers to them that take time to discover. He is very obviously family-oriented who is still going through his own trauma from his mother's death and dad's alcoholism. He is well-respected in the town and quite-frankly, shouldn't have been villainized for seeking out casual relationships.
It's really hard for me to get behind a book that doesn't have a strong female protagonist. Adina's initial assumption of how Pleasant Hollows might look is exceptionally juvenile and not doing any research before pitching the idea was ludricous. Her journalist skills seemed weak and unrefined at best, and tried to mold people to fit her story before just adjusting the story altogether.
Overall, a quick read that was easy to follow, just found myself shaking my head at the main character more often than I should.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the opportunity to read and review the ARC of As Seen on TV!
The description of this book had me hooked before I even started reading. As someone who loves journalism, I felt I could relate to Adina. Her journey to Pleasant Hollows and trying to write her perfect article was very appealing to me.
If you love Hallmark movies, you'll love this book! Even if you aren't a fan of the latter, I truly believe there is an element everyone will fall in love with in this story. I will definitely be reading Meredith Schorr's future books!

I got a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange of an honest review. This book was the perfect romantic comedy. It was very heartwarming and an extremely adorable book. I personally loved this book and think all romance lovers should read it.

Great story. I like how the characters grew. I liked the way it challenged the small town trope. The main character has a love of Hallmark movies which are frequently referenced. If you are a fan of Hallmark movies like I am, I think you will get a kick out of them. Unlike a Hallmark movie though this book has some spicy scenes in it.
Overall it was a really fun read.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an e-arc in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I couldn’t buy into the love interest. When there’s not much basis for the attraction except looks, and when main characters just seem very immature, I struggle with reading. I do admit they’re overall likable, and it was a cute story, but it wasn’t my favorite.

Schorr's witty debut is utterly delightful and full of witty banter that will have you charmed from the very beginning. It's touchingly heartfelt with just the right amount of serious undertones.

As Seen on TV is a romantic comedy that is lighthearted, humorous, and an escape from reality. When Adina, an aspiring journalist finally gets her big break in the form of writing an article about a small town being overrun by new construction, she jumps at the chance to have her own Hallmark movie. True to any Hallmark movie, she meets Finn Adams, the seemingly “perfect” guy when she arrives the lobby of her B&B. Soon after, she realizes that the town isn’t exactly what she thought.
As Seen on TV was a light-hearted book that I think is perfect for a day at the beach. I personally think there are times where it lagged in pace slightly, and that the relationship conflict resolved a little too easily; however, this does not negate the fact that this was a super fun, adorable read! The characters are likable, the conflicts are relatable, and all-in-all, who doesn’t like a Hallmark movie?

I enjoyed this book. I thought the story was cute and the characters were deep enough to relate to them. The plot was great and it kept me hooked. I always love a good romance book and this one I definitely enjoyed.

A book about unmet expectations in a big city and a small town. Wrapped up in a bow like a Hallmark movie.
The main character wasn’t always likeable but as a whole she worked and it’s a really cute book.

A steamier, sexier version of a Hallmark movie. 3.5/5 stars
Following disappointment after disappointment dating and finding a full time job in the city, Adina heads to a small town with hopes of writing a story about how Pleasant Hollow is similar to the cute towns in Hallmark movies. Adina makes some surprising discoveries while there and ends up falling for another city guy. She learns relationships aren’t easy and not all small towns are the same.
Adi sometimes comes across as immature and naive, with unrealistic expectations. Finn is more relatable and swoon-worthy. You root for both of them despite sometimes being annoyed with Adi. Their relationship initially felt rushed and some parts of the plot seemed unrealistic, but the author has an excellent writing style. I loved the banter between Finn and Adi. Anyone who enjoys Hallmark movies will certainly enjoy this book!

Calling all small town lovers! This is your book! I cannot wait to see how much everyone adores this book and then I can gush on it together with my best book friends. Such a sweet and funny story, an anecdote to the hard time we're all in together right now. Thanks so much for a chance to read this and I can't wait to share this when the date gets closer!

This was a quick read. Marketed as Hallmark movie meets Gilmore Girls I expected a cute breezy read. I didn’t expect it to be the opposite but it was still a cute book.
City girl, Adina is working as a freelance writer, a barista and a spin instructor trying to make her way to staff writer for a NY online site. In a moment of desperation she turns to hallmark movies and submits a proposal to go a small town and write a story about a corporation moving in.
Once she gets to Pleasant Hollow she was very disappointed to find it not at all like the small town she was dreaming of. Trying to make friends with the locals, find a good angle for her story and flirting with a man she meets at the Inn have her desperately trying to connect.
It was a cute story. If you like Hallmark movies I think you will enjoy.
