I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
If you are looking for an opposites attract book this one is for you. The stubborn and somewhat ornery Sheriff meets the sweet nurse to the elderly. She basically trips onto him and the attraction begins.
The Sheriff however thinks she is up to no good and trouble but as they get to know one another attraction prevails.

Summer Nights with a Cowboy by C. Crews, published by St. Martin's Press, is book three in the Kittredge Ranch series. For best reading experience I recommend to read the books in order.
Janie Atwood is a bit clumsy and works a slive-in-nurse in a small town. The local Sheriff has his sights set on her. Zack Kittredge can't shake the feeling that he's something missing regarding his new neighbor.
A beautiful, well written, entertaining read in one sitting story, 4,5 stars.

Good beginning.

He's immune from love?

Everyone knows charm school has tea.

Dayum, Mrs. Gardiner.

Andrew is a real jerk.

His father was a bad husband, not a bad father. His mother could have divorced him.

Aw, Bear and Aileen can be nice.

Crap, I'm starting to like Andrew.

I did not see that coming. But then who was the woman?

Took them long enough.

Told in the third person, it is a story about Janie searching for her toots in a small Colorado town and of Zack, the sheriff who holds onto control like a weapon. Janie sparks life into Zack in a way her never felt possible. A lovely story all around.

Opposites do attract and Zack was just waiting for Janie to crush into his life. This is a fun, well-written romance. I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Janie and Zach.

Oh, boy, do I love a curmudgeonly her! Zack was all that and so much more. I loved how even though he had issues with his parents he still tried to be there for the family. I loved Janie so much too! I enjoyed seeing her reinvent herself in a new environment. Her banter with the sheriff was always on point.

The Kittredge family is pretty dysfunctional - and not in the "fun" kind of way. Zack is the oldest - and the one who left the family ranch to becoming a deputy and ultimately the sheriff. He never left his family behind - he was fiercely committed to maintaining that relationship, but not really in a healthy way. The Kittredge parents fought in a very explosive way for a long time - until one night it all stopped. Later on - Zack witnessed something in relation to his father that challenged his view of him in such a way that it broke their relationship. Zack had always been a by-the-books type of person. He has a strong sense of personal responsibility and honor - none of which has left him room for any type of positive relationship.

Janie grew up in a small college town in New England. She was raised by her grandparents - and with their passing is in town looking to find out more about her family roots. Her open heart and mind challenge Zack in a major way. Janie is definitely a breath of fresh air - and a truly special person. I am not sure anyone could dislike her - even Zack who really tries extra specially hard to not like her!

I loved so much about this story but I think one of the things that struck me the most in this book was a discussion between Janie and Zack - where Zack is steadfast in his black and white view of people, and Janie says to him that maybe people aren't all good or bad - maybe they are just people. And I think that is honestly the defining moment of the book and their relationship. From that point on Zack really changes - and makes a point of looking at things differently. And I was so here for that. Zack - throughout the book listens to what his family and friends say - and what Janie says and really takes things to heart. He puts in the work - and makes the changes he needs to.

I loved this - and it definitely hits all the high points of small town, western romances.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Caitlin Crews latest Kittredge Ranch book, Summer Nights with a Cowboy, is a journey of self discovery and hard fought change. With dynamic characters, who are easily relatable to, and a multi-layered plot that connects the past with the present and laying to rest old misunderstandings…resulting in paving the way for a future free of constant strife. Truly a story that will pull at the heart strings in many different ways, and just may leave you with a smile, as it did me.

I want more books about Cold River!

Sherriff Zack Kittredge didn’t like mysteries and Janie Atwood was a puzzle he was trying to figure out as she lived door working as a nurse for Damaris Gardiner. Janie was working as a nurse for Damaris Gardiner while she figured out her family using the clues that her grandmother left her in a letter.

I love cowboy romances because they remind me of growing up on a ranch and Summer Nights with a Cowboy is a perfect example of how to do a romance right in the Kittredge Ranch series or any of Caitlin Crews series set in Cold River!

I love how Zack and Janie help each other with family and you need to read Summer Nights with a Cowboy to find out what family means to Cold River!

LOVED this book! Janie is a fun and quirky character who's hiding a few secrets and is so clumsy that she literally falls at Zach's feet. Zach is the sheriff with no sense of humor and a serious suspicion that Janie is hiding a criminal secret. Their interactions were funny and made me smile - I especially enjoyed charm school.

This book is a winner and fans of the genre will want to put this one at the top of their TBR list. The author is one of my favorites and is on my must read authors' list. While this is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel - however its so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all.
