I loved The Wedding Season! It feels fresh and contemporary. The book had me hooked from the line "He took the tupperware. What the f***." I laughed out loud - and I rarely do that.
A couple things stood out to me about this book: one was that you didn't mean the love interest until a quarter of the way through the book. It's much more about Freya's inner journey than her new possible relationship. I'd also flag for interested readers that this romance is clean. I don't care either way usually, but I found that refreshing in this case.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for th is ARC!
This was the best contemporary romance I have read in quite a while. I teared up, I laughed, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Freya is broken up with (in a broom closet) the day before her wedding and now has to make it through a summer of friend's weddings after the ruin of her own. Her best friends set her to a series of tasks to help distract her at each event, and they are hilarious.
I loved all of the characters, besides Matthew, in this book. Freya is so strong while also being so awkward. Jamie is adorable and I loved their banter. Ruby and Leo are amazing friends to Freya and are so funny.
Freya's personal journey was so refreshing and it was lovely to see her find herself again, repair her relationship with her mom, and take risks she wouldn't have taken before. The whole plot of this book was engaging and sweet.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book. What a treat!!
I loved this book. It was well paced; the characters were well developed and it was just delightful. The story was full of laugh-out-loud moments intermixed with angst and personal growth. It was one of those books that I simultaneously wanted to ready it quickly to see what happened, but also wanted to read it slowly so it wouldn't end.
I now need to find more books from this author !!!

Somehow I both raced through this charming British rom-com and yet did not want it to end! It was witty, fun, insightful, and heartfelt in its more serious moments. Freya is jilted by her fiance the day before their wedding, and though she might want to nurse her broken heart, she has to attend seven more weddings over the summer. How is she going to get through this? Well, her wonderful best friends assign Freya an out-of-character challenge to complete at every wedding to take her mind off her problems, and from there, hilarity ensues. I adored the relatable Freya. Her growth and character development felt authentic, and her journey was both satisfying and fun. She was an endearing main character willing to celebrate her friends/family at their weddings right after her shocking break-up. The secondary characters were quirky and lovable, especially Freya's best friends Ruby and Leo. The dialogue between them all is witty, and there are some hilarious moments. And while there is a sweet slow-burn romance, I loved that a central focus of this story was healing and self-love and opening up to life's possibilities. I enjoyed the plot and liked Katy Birchall's conversational and engaging writing style. Highly recommended! Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC.

Really cute! Freya is dumped right before her wedding and leans on her friends and family to help her through. To help with that healing, they give her challenges through the wedding season that take her out of her protected normal and start to heal her. It’s cute, funny and an adorable read!

Wow... I absolutely loved this book! I had a really hard time putting it down. The friendships Freya has are so special. They help her navigate life after her fiancé of over a decade breaking up with her the day before her wedding. In true romcom fashion there's slow burn romance, laugh out loud humour and quirky family members that keep you turning pages! I could absolutely see this being turned into a hit movie. I want a part 2, I want to know where this romance goes for Freya! Highly recommend!

I’d like to thank NetGallery for the opportunity to read this for free in place of me giving my honest review.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I was hesitant because it could’ve easily crossed the line of being dragged on. I feel like for the most part, Katy did a good job of moving all the events along. There was some parts that I found predicable, but I also found myself being surprised in others, there was a good balance of both.
I really loved the friend dynamic between Freya, Ruby, and Leo. I believe it’s rare for those friendships to last, especially if two of the friends get together like Ruby and Leo did. Freya also brought this up in the book and explained how the couple went out of their way to make sure she didn’t feel left out and that nothing changed. I thought it was such a sweet addition to this story and it really added to it to have those people who she can lean on. I also appreciated the growth Freya went through, how she made an effort to improve herself and branch out, especially with her mom.
It was a fun read, especially seeing Freya do each of the challenges that her friends had set out for her for each wedding. It had originally aspects that I liked and Katy definitely did a great job.

The Wedding Season follows Freya, a bride who got dumped the day before her wedding. She spends the summer or the "wedding season" attempting to put her life back together. Her dearest friends have come up with a plan to get her back on her feet. She must complete a challenge at each wedding. These challenges take Freya out of her comfort zone and allow her to heal. In the end, Freya realizes she just might get her happy ending after all.
This is a cute read with some pretty good laugh out loud moments. I did find it to be a bit long and full of some unnecessary information. I found myself skimming through quite a bit of that which is why I gave this one 3 stars. Overall, it's a fun summer read but not all that memorable.
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC copy!
*Review on Instagram to come closer to pub day!

After reading Katy Birchall's book The Secret Bridesmaid I knew that I had to get my hands on this one.
Freya gets dumped by her long-time boyfriend hours before their wedding, and to top it off, she must attend a whole season of weddings this year on her own. Her best friends, Ruby and Leo decide it's time for Freya to stop moping, and plan out a list of wedding season challenges she must complete at each wedding she attends. There is so much growth and character development for Freya and you'll find yourself cheering her on, as she blossoms with each task.
Read this book if you want to have a good laugh, or if you've ever experienced a broken heart before.
This book was incredible. Go and get a copy on May 3, 2022! I found myself smiling and laughing the whole time.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this one. There were moments of levity and thoughtfulness, laugh-out-loud antics, and poignant revelations. I actually grinned, chuckled, chortled, and snickered while reading it. I had those moments where my chest got heavy and my eyes started to sting. At the end of the book, I had a warm fuzzy feeling.
There were friendships, familial relationships, and romantic ones. It has a great ensemble cast of secondary characters. I found myself cheering for Freya alongside her family and friends.
I would love to see this turned into a movie.

This was a solid 4 star read for me! It was such a beautiful story! For me I loved the fact that it was more than a story of romance, it was also a story about healing and moving on from heartbreak. I loved Freya as a main character, I found her to be super relatable and we had the same sense of humor. The pacing of this book was so great and it was super cute without adding any unnecessary fluff! This was overall just super well done.

The wedding season is a super heartfelt and unique take on a rom com. Freyas journey is amazing to watch her grow and connect with her emotions after receiving the news the night before her wedding her fiancé is calling it off. Her relationship with her friends makes you laugh out loud and want to be right there with them as they help her navigate her feelings and challenging herself. I would definitely recommend this book and hope there are more stories coming.

When Matthew breaks up with Freya in her broom closet the day before their wedding…Freya thinks there is no way she can survive the wedding season without losing it. Her best friends Leo and Ruby come up with a list of fun and out of the box things for her to do at each wedding to get her mind off her break up and back into the world of the living …and possibly dating.
What Freya doesn’t expect is a laid back man like Jaime to make her laugh and change her perspective on life. It may be just what she needs to survive- The wedding season.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, St. Martin’s Press and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Charming, engaging and funny! Seriously a delight to read.

Freya is about to get married to the love of her life, Matthew. But he breaks up with her after 12 years in a closet the day before their wedding. Freya is left spiraling in a world that no longer makes sense and she has already agreed to attend seven weddings. Luckily her best friends Leo and Ruby have a plan. Seven tasks for each wedding with the final one being a surprise in honor of their wedding. Can Freya survive The Wedding Season?
I really enjoyed this take on the romcom genre. It's really refreshing to read about a main character going through a break up and focusing on putting their life back together. Yes this book does feature some romcom elements, really cute ships, and weddings; but I wouldn't classify this as a typical romance. It's more about learning to love yourself and readjust your life when stuff doesn't work out the way you'd like. And honestly? I really loved how this was presented.
The characters were pretty great, too! I loved Freya's besties Ruby and Leo. They were supportive and came up with the crazy list that provided the foundation for a lot of this book. Also Freya's dad and brother are to be protected. (Honestly the brother needs his own book). Then there was Mr. Potential Love Interest, who had many cute moments with Freya! All in all, this book had the character dynamics that I love to read about.
Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for the eARC! I really appreciate it!

4 stars/5
0.5 spice factor (there is one scene with kissing - very clean story!)
Wow! What a great Rom-Com! I adored Freya's story; while reading I found myself laughing out loud several times.
We meet Freya on a Friday evening running through a checklist and taking care of last minute tasks for her wedding the next day. Her wedding is the first of 8 she will be part of throughout the year. When her soon-to-be-husband shows up he tells her they need to talk. Freya doesn't expect anything to be wrong but soon finds herself alone in a broom closet, no longer engaged. Knowing she has 7 weddings to endure and wanting to keep her distracted, Freya's best friends Ruby and Leo create a Wedding Season survival guide with tasks to complete at each wedding. This list is not going to be easy to complete for straight-laced, "keep within the lines" Freya. But she is determined to get outside her comfort zone and complete the tasks.
As I mentioned - this book had me laughing! Freya's banter with her new friend, Jamie, was adorable from their first meeting! I thought Freya's story was both cute and uplifting. We see her come to terms with the reasons her relationship ended, brave weddings on her own, and make new friends. The story is told from 1st person POV and in a very conversational manner. I found myself wanting to be friends with Freya, Ruby and Leo, as well as their other friends. This was a fun bunch to go on this Wedding Season journey with.

Oh my goodness! How much I just loved this book!
From the first page's dedication I knew I was going to love this novel. I am a wedding photographer and I don't think it ever clicked just how hard the past two years were until I read the dedication from Katy to the wedding industry. I teared up and I am totally a "Freya" that doesn't get too emotional over things.
Look, I was already going to give this novel a high review because it ticked all the boxes for me. It was a beautifully balanced story about the ups and downs of life and love. There were sad moments, there were HILARIOUS moments and there were the building blocks that created this lovely book's world.
THEN THE WINE SCENE.
That was pure poetry in all the ways only those who have had a confusing breakup can know. PERFECTION.
THEN!
THEN!
SHE THREW IN ANNE OF AVONLEA and one of my most favorite parts of that novel and I was deceased.
Come for the good story, stay for the strong heroine, leave with a smile and a happy heart.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

I was really impressed with this title.
Our main character, Freya, is about to embark on the adventures brought into your life after a life altering breakup. She’s also about to embark on getting to know herself again, getting closer with her girlfriends, and working on a relationship with her mother. You’re cheering for Freya the entire time, you want her to succeed and each time she accomplishes something, you’re happy for her.
The story is engaging, it’s a little funny to think that a story built from a breakup could be such a happy pick me up, but that’s exactly what I found it to be.
I definitely recommend The Wedding Season.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is my second Katy Birchall read and she’s quickly becoming a solid go to. Her writing is so smooth and so easily readable. I was immediately connected to the story, I genuinely laughed multiple times at dialogue and situations, and it was just such an all around gem to read. I could easily see this being on screen as the next British rom-com.

“It turns out that just as people can always surprise you, you can also completely unintentionally, and yet rather wonderfully, surprise yourself.“
The Wedding Season is written in the first person narrative from the perspective of Freya. On the eve of her wedding, Freya gets dumped by her fiancé and boyfriend of 12 years, Matthew, in a broom cupboard at the venue. Her wedding was the kick-off of the season and now she needs to suffer through 7 more weddings solo. Her best friend’s Ruby and Leo drunkenly devise a series of challenges she must complete at each wedding, designed to distract her from Matthew and what might have been. By the time the final wedding rolls around, Freya realizes the end of one failed happy ending might have just been the start of a wonderful new beginning.
Wow! I really enjoyed this. Not to sound cheesy but this book was seriously a delight. I’m a sucker for a British romcom and, after loving The Secret Bridesmaid, Birchall is quickly solidifying herself as one of my top authors in this genre. Laugh-out-loud funny, extremely relatable, and excellent banter between literally every single character. The real magic in this story is that it is much more than a romance. Freya is a fantastic character and I was rooting for her every step of the way. I love how we see her hilarious friendships, close-knit relationship with her brother and dad, not so close relationship with her mother, and a glimpse into her career life. Jaime is an A+ love interest and had me swooning every step of the way once him and Freya become wedding pals. One of my favorite slow burn romances ever and they really shared such lovely chemistry. Birchall really knows how to capture the magic of weddings! Highly recommend this one if you enjoy romcoms, books about weddings, funny antics, and excellent love interests with a worthwhile slow burn.
