I’d like to thank Quercus Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Until I Find You’ written by Anna Smith in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Ex-police officer Billie Carlson is now a private investigator based in Glasgow. A distraught woman, Jackie Foster, calls at her office asking for help in finding her missing child Elena who was taken from the back seat of her car after she was involved in an accident. Billie feels an instant affinity with her as she too has lost a child, her son Lucas, who was taken away by her ex-husband Bob. If she’s to help the woman Billie will need help from old police colleagues as well as the criminals she used to put behind bars.

‘Until I Find You’ is an exciting, dramatic and nail-biting thriller that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading. The story is set amongst the most disadvantaged areas of Glasgow and involves hardened criminals who traffic people to use in making their immoral movies, gangsters who go out of their way for a friend, and a crooked police officer living beyond his means. I love the character of Billie who’s feisty, hard-working, and who endangers life and limb to reach a just conclusion for her clients. This is an exceptionally well-written and involving thriller that’s had me gripped from the first page to the last, and if this is the first in a new series featuring Billie Carlson I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next one.

Billie Carson left the police force under a cloud, Once a promising young officer, she now works as a private investigator, rooting out insurance scams and spying on cheating spouses. One morning a distraught young woman comes into her office saying that her baby had been stolen. Her story seems unbelievable, yet something about her makes Billie want to help - Billie knows what it's like to loose someone too. But to get to the bottom of this case, Billie must rattle some dangerous cases and rely on some old police friends for inside help.

This story is set in Glasgow. Even though her story sounds unbelievable, private investigator Billie Carson takes on her case and has to take on some dangerous people along the way. This is a well written and thought out novel. This is one rollercoaster read I didn't want to put down. Billie is determined to get the woman's baby back and she will stop at nothing to achieve this. It's not always easy to read, but it's realistic. The story is full of action with lots of believable characters. I can't wait to read more books in this new series.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #QuercusBooks and the author #AnnaSmith for my ARC of #UntilIFindYOu in exchange for an honest review.

Gritty, interesting main character. I found her background story a little bit hard to swallow but it provided great motivation for the plot. Pacy and enough twists and turns to keep you on track, I enjoyed this thriller and look forward to reading her next book.

Billie Carson is a former police officer who left under a cloud, now a private investigator.
When a young distraught woman walks in to her office saying her baby has been taken, even though her story is unbelievable something makes Billie want to help her as she knows what it's like to lose someone you love dearly.
To get to the bottom of the case Billie has to deal with some very dangerous individuals and what she finds out shocks her to her core.
Hard hitting and very hard to put down.
Can not wait to find out more about Billie and hoping she gets her happy everafter.
Thanks to Netgalley and Quercus Books for the ARC

Another good book from Anna Smith,Until I Find You introduces us to private detective Millie Carlson, who takes on a case when Jackie walks into her office and she tells Millie her baby has been abducted. But when she delves further into the case Millie uncovers a whole can of worms which includes people trafficking and snuff films, along the way she encounters some of her old colleagues from her past career as a police officer and all this is going on while Millie is battling her own demons with her son Lucas having been took away by her ex husband, while she progresses in the case the more she gets involved the threats to herself deepen as the gang will stop at nothing to throw off Millie their trail. This book is the first in a new series by Anna Smith I think and although I prefer the excellent Mauve Kerrigan series this series should be a great addition to the previous books by Anna Smith.Another 5 star read for me.

I have been a fan of Annas for years and I’ve read every book Anna’s written and loved the Rosie Gilmour books so it felt like I kinda had a new partner to get used to/ acquainted with in Billie & wasn’t sure how I’d get on with a new person in my head lol

Billieis a great new character as ex cop turned private aye whilst keeping some select few allays from her former cop days close by for support. This book starts with a shadow of sadness as Billie’s backstory slowly unfolds. Her character is passionate, emotional and caring yet she’s wreckless, brave or stupid, it’s about the same and very very determined.. Her links with the underworld are good and of a certain understanding and discreet honour amongst them all as she enlists the help of a select few. They engage in some hair raising encounters that almost get her killed!
I found this first book, in what I hope to be one of many in a new and exciting series, an easy to read, difficult to put down.

Billies past is one of emptiness, heartache & loss and yet she’s still living with hope. for her own story with her own missing child..

The characters in this book were easily pictured in my minds eye and Scanlon I’m hoping is her soon to be new Beau but he has such a great sense of humour. they have chemistry and a natural attraction. Will it develop? I hope so.
A missing baby, a mum on the run, a random friend in the form of a junkie wanting to help but the power of drugs lead Billie into a lot of danger. There is a trail of dead bodies in the wake of getting to the truth and then throw in people traffickers, porn & snuff movies into the mix in it will ensure a bumpy ride as you get to grips with every development
No spoiler from me but best buckle up for the ride. I loved it and I’m getting to know Billie and really looking forward to the next book! Well done Anna, even Millie was fab!

A great start, to hopefully a series. I want to read more of Billie's story . Set in Glasgow, Billie is a private investigator, who is an ex-detective. The reasons why she left the force are revealed gradually. The plot involves the underworld of the city, drugs, people trafficking , prostitution and making porn films. It is not always easy reading, but is realistic .
I very much liked Billie, a no nonsense character who has a past. She does not always think things through, but she has a good heart. The police are not always portrayed in the best light and you come to understand her reasoning, though it might not always be the safest option to go it alone or involve other members of the underworld.
The book is action packed with lots of characters, some incidents are resolved, others not . This is why I am hoping to read more !

Thanks to Anna and NetGalley for allowing me to read Until I Find You before publication date.

Former detective Billie Carson is now a private investigator working from an office in Glasgow city centre.

A young woman, Jackie Foster, contacts her to ask for help in finding her baby daughter, Elena, who she says has been abducted.
She tells a horrific story in which she claims that Elena was abducted to force Jackie to give the abductors something which she does not have. Jackie cannot involve the police as she says that at least one police officer is involved.

Can Billie find a way to keep Jackie safe and to get Elena back.

Anna has crafted a story around the horrors of people trafficking, drug dealing, pornography and snuff movies. Yet she has managed to avoid too much detail to shock the reader.
I am probably a bit biased because I know Glasgow and I really enjoyed how she describes the city, from the old Trongate now reincarnated as the desirable Merchant City to Blythswood Square, where offices and residential properties rub shoulders with private member clubs whilst it turns into a red light area by night and all within a stone’s throw from the Police HQ.

I look forward to the next book in the series.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I enjoyed it very much. The prologue made an intriguing and thrilling start. I don’t really know why but I couldn’t get it in to my head that the novel was set in Glasgow (I don’t know Glasgow at all, and after reading this book I don’t think I want to!). It felt very American to me for some reason, not that that matters. I wouldn’t call it fast paced, in fact there were parts where it seemed to drag on a bit with not much happening. Then it got complicated with different story lines, and I got a little bit lost and had to keep turning back the pages to so I could remember who was who and what was happening. I’m sure that’s just me though. The ending was brilliant. I really like the character of PI Billie Carlson, and obviously hope that this is the first of a series. We all want to know what happens to Lucas! All in all a good read, 3.5 stars upped to 4.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this ARC.

Honestly, if Anna Smith wrote a dictionary, she’d make it thrilling!! To date, I’ve read each and every one of her books and I’ve loved them all.
I’m hoping this new book is the start of a new series, because I’m bursting to know what’s in store next for Billie Carson.
This is what’s known as a page turner, once I started it was all I could think of.

It unravels that not only are they kidnappers they're also involved in porn, drugs and snuff films and they think Jackie has something of theirs. Billie gets into all sorts of trouble trying to get Jackie's baby back and has to draft in help from equally naughty villains. This book has plenty of action and was a great read!

I really enjoyed this book. Set in Glasgow, Billie Carlson is an ex police officer turned private investigator. When a young woman turns up at her office one day saying that her young child has been taken, Billie feels compelled to help her. However, she is soon embroiled in the seedy world of drugs, trafficking and porn, and has to call in some favours from the past. This is a fast paced story that will keep you on the edge of your seat to the end. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

Straight-forward detective thriller based in Glasgow - very good.

things get a lot more complicated involving all the many types of urban crime associated with a big city. There's a hefty body count, uneasy alliances and plenty to think about as it paints a depressing tale about the seedier side of life in Glasgow, There's a lot going one and it makes for a good read - and a quick one at that. I read it pretty quickly so it's certainly engaging. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

I really like this author’s books and was eager to read this one, the first in a new series featuring Billie Carlson, a Private Investigator. I did enjoy this book, and think the author has created a quite likeable character here who is very tenacious and has a troubled and believable back story. She takes on a case when a young woman comes into her office asking her to find her daughter. There are several ongoing story threads here which I really liked, plenty of action and all at a fairly fast pace. I thought this was a well written and engaging book with a good plot line. It just didn’t wow me though. Not sure if it is because I really liked the main characters in Anna Smiths other series and think it will take time for me to get used to a new character. I will definitely want to read the next book to see how Billies character develops.

I enjoyed the Rosie Gilmore series and was looking forward to this one - and what a great way to start this new series.

Billie Carlson, ex-cop turned private investigator. She’s feisty and takes no prisoners and she’s not afraid to bend the rules. Caught up in the kidnapping of a child, she’ll use anything in her power to get to the truth.

A great read from start to finish. I am looking forward to the next one.
