IMMORTAL RISING is the thirty-fourth book in Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau vampire series. Although this is part of a series, I think IMMORTAL RISING works as a standalone because the backstories for both main characters are gone over in detail. Stephanie McGill and Thorne Salter have both had more than enough tragedy and run-ins with megalomaniacal psychos, so in IMMORTAL RISING, they get a time-out and most of the book is them meeting and falling in love.

When the story opens, Stephanie is going through the everyday things like feeding her pets and chatting with her sister on the phone. Her isolated house, with only her pets for company, is her Zen place. If she is around too many people, their thoughts bombard her, and it becomes suffocating. Her sister lets slip that she will have a temporary neighbor – Thorne. They end up having a perfect meet-cute when she goes looking for her pets and finds her cat marking Thorne as its territory. There is an adorable amount of flirting and sexual tension. Because of the circumstances surrounding their early years, Stephanie and Thorne don’t have much in the way of flirting or dating experience, so they are awkward together. Because they keep some of their feelings private (and Stephanie can’t read Thorne), I’m glad IMMORTAL RISING is told from alternating perspectives that gives readers a deep dive into what the main characters are really thinking. The “getting to know you” phase of a love story is my favorite, and that makes up a huge chunk of this book. Stephanie and Thorne complement each other well and have them re-evaluating their lives in a positive way. They both deserve more than they’ve been settling for in life. I like how these characters could relate to each other because they both felt freakish to some degree. They also had complicated family situations and intense feelings of loneliness at times. I felt the chemistry between these two characters, but the level of empathy and the initial friendship added the depth to the burgeoning relationship.

IMMORTAL RISING has a couple who seem made for each other and a mad scientist lurking in the shadows. Stephanie’s pets are super cute, and I like how they interact with Thorne. I would enjoy reading stories about other rescued hybrids in the future – whether as part of this series, or as part of a spin-off series. I love these kinds of relationship-centered and character-driven paranormal romances by Lynsay Sands. I want more!

The Argeneau Series is an automatic read for me so Immortal Rising has been on my TBR pile for a while. Add in the fact that it’s the story of two characters we know…*swoon*

Readers of the series will know Stephanie as the saucy mouthed teenager that discovers a new family amidst the hunters, speaks the truth no one wants to hear, and fights terrifying situations with sarcasm. Replace the saucy with sailor-isq and adult version isn’t much different.

Thorn is the biological son of a mad scientist (the bad guy) who modified his DNA so thorn isn’t really mortal either. And he’s got wings. That he’s thinking about removing so he can help his mom have a better future off the island of genetic experiments he was raised on.

Though Thorn and Stephanie require isolation, they’re exactly what the other needs in so many ways! The interaction between these two is sizzling and hilarious—in true Lynsay Sands fashion. I seriously enjoyed the awkward banter of two isolationists finding each other.

No spoilers, but I also really enjoyed the family dynamics on BOTH sides.

Immortal Rising by Lynsay Sands is another installment in the Argeneau series. A great paranormal romance with wonderful characters. I enjoyed this novel.

After Stephanie and her sister were turned against their will by "no-fangers", Stephanie developed the ability to hear others thoughts but she can't block it out or turn it off like the other immortals can. She ends up staying in a family home far away from people so that she can get some peace in her life. While there, she meets a sexy stranger, Thorne, who is helped by the reclusive life as well. She discovers that she can't hear Thorne and they fall into a relationship based on a bond forged by their unusual immortal births Immortal Rising was such a fun sexy story. Fans of this series will be charmed by this book.

For me reading Lynsay is like coming home. For a writer to still amaze book after book in a series this long......I never want it to end.

When we find out that Thorne was to be Stephanie's lifemate, I wasn't sure how it would play. I was so happy to be proven wrong. He was EVERYTHING!!!

This story had everything I love. A wrap up to a villain, a unique way for Stephanie to have some peace, and some closer to her and Dani's relationship. Lynsay continues to mix her humor into an amazing story.

There was only one small editing error that I hated and that was Lucian mentioning his twin daughters when one of his twins is male, but it didn't take away from the story.

Can't wait for Valerian and Natalie's story. Hoping that Stephanie and Marguerite are able to find lifemates for our two elderly loves, and Vasco.

Stephanie has had such a hard life since she was 15 years old. And those abilities had been like torture for so long. Hearing people's thoughts non-stop was why she was living a more isolated life. She had a really good support team of people who loved her and she loved them. Her sister was part of that but the rest of the people were her new family.
Thorne hadn't had a normal upbringing either but his was different starting from birth. But since his DNA has been messed with, he really hasn't had normal even before birth!
This story had really good world building. Add to that some of the humor. Especially when Stephanie had her embarrassing moments when she was talking to her cat or her dog. Thorne heard a lot of the times when she was talking about how hot he was, among other things. That was definitely funny as was her direct and honest ways with him.
Everything ends dramatically and in the best possible ways.

Immortal Rising by Lynsay Sands is book 34 in the Argeneau Series. This is the story of Stephanie and Thorne. Stephanie was turned Immortal against her will when she was kidnapped when she was younger. Now in her present day she is working with the Argeneau family. Stephanie abilities make it so she can hear other peoples thoughts which can be painful of course so they have set her up in a house in a quiet area. But something in her causing her to fear that she will end up going crazy. Thorne's father was a Doctor who experimented on people including himself. But now his father has been taken down and everyone freed. So Thorne has come to Argeneau family for a place for him and his elderly mother and aunt to stay. In addition he wants to have his wings removed to be a normal person which Dani (Stephanie's sister) is looking in to helping him. Thorne has been placed in a cabin not far from Stephanie. I am such a huge fan of Ms. Sands so her books are a must read for me!!

I am a long time fan of Lynsays work and this is no exception! It was so great to learn more about Stephanie and how she deals with the unique issues she faces as an immortal. I also love Thorne and how the connect so easily. This is another great addition to the Argeneau World!

I’ve been a fan of the Argeneau series since it’s inception. Loved Thorne and Stephanie. Two perfectly imperfect characters fighting the good fight against mad scientist Dressler.

I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the 34th book in the series. While I have read this author before this is the first book I have read in the series. However I did not feel lost at all and feel confident it can be read as a stand alone. Though I definitely plan to read more of the series now.

Here we have an immortal heroine who can hear the thoughts of others and a hero who is a an animal human hybrid with giant eagle wings and feathers instead of hair. He definitely sounds super hot though so the heroine and I are both good with that.

This book offers plenty of adventure and suspense while at the same time being somehow both steamy/romantic and also heartwarming in the relationships between the found family members. The depth of character that I’m sure reaches into the other books is apparent. There’s also a journey of self discovery for our main characters and they’re getting to know you phase feels so genuine and relatable.

So this is book 34 in this series, and while most of these books can be read as stand alones-I would most definitely read the previous book about Stephanie's sister. Especially because that is how her starts and it explains a lot of her back story. Not only that, but she was featured in a lot of other books as well. Thorne was introduced in Immortal Unchained and is the son of the dr that was introduced a few books earlier. I definitely wasn't expecting them to be lifemates, but they are more perfect for each other than I ever could have dreamed up! Stephanie is still thinking of herself as a monster and trying to protect the people she cares about from their worries over her. Thorne thinks that every genetic manipulation that his "father" did to him makes him a monster. And one who will never have a normal life. But when he comes to Canada in order to have a surgery that could kill him in hopes of being more normal, they both find out that being a monster is something that they only see in themselves. Other's don't.

Most of this story I absolutely loved. I love how Stephanie and Thorne connected right from their first meeting. I love how their relationship (while fast) came about and how they complimented each other so much. I felt bad for how they felt about themselves, although I understood it. I didn't like how quickly the interaction with the big bad went. After everything that happened with him, I felt like it was over with too fast. That was my only thing that I didn't like. Everything else, I loved! Including his mother and Tia! I would love for them to find lifemates and have a chance to actually HAVE a life! That would be beautiful! As usual with this author, I was sucked into the story right from the start and didn't want it to end!

First in flight
So many books in this series have called to me in their own way, but this one, this one I think is my absolute favorite. I love the characters, and how these two lonely isolated souls connected even when they didn’t mean to. As with any love story, there were dangers and obstacles to their HEA, but with the help of my favorite family and the strength they have developed over time, these two were able to get to the most amazing HEA. This book was a fantastic read read I can’t wait to read it all over again. Well and I can’t wait to see what the next story brings.

Stephanie McGill has been bombarded with peoples thought, and memories from 5 to 10 miles away. This has led to an isolated, lonely life for an immortal, and a write of Horror. Stephanie knows her family, and friends are worried that the "Voices" will drive her insane, and she'll have to be destroyed. While hunting Rogues, she runs into Mad Doctor Dressler, and he wants to know how Stephanie is able to hear voices and wants to experiment on her. Fortunately, Stephanie's rescued before Dressler can take her.

Thorn Salter, experiment on by Dressler before he's even born has wings that he wants surgically removed so travels to Canada in hopes he can have a normal life.

Stephanie, and Thorn meet and shortly realizes that they're lifemates. Both fight it. Stephanie thinks she doomed to go crazy, since she has heard any voices in days, and Thorn is worried that he may die on the operating table. As they try to work out their difference, they're unaware that Dressler is watching them both and decides he wants them both.

Stephanie, and Thorn work together to capture Dressler, unaware that Dressler's coming to kidnap them with a nest of 30 Rogues. Where's a girl's gift when she needs it?

After Stephanie and her sister were attacked and turned against their will, Stephanie developed the ability to hear others thoughts but she can't block it out or turn it off like the other immortals can. So her new family set her up in a house out in the middle of nowhere, far away from others. But they don't realize that her abilities are far stronger than she let on and she can still hear some of the people around her.

Thorne was an experiment from the moment of conception. His father is a crazy scientist who tried to make children with special abilities through DNA splicing and he's one of the results. He has wings and small feathers on his head and he is hoping that he can have his wings removed so he can be somewhat normal.

So he moves into the vacant house next to Stephanie and she can't hear his thoughts because something is happening with her ability which has her troubled. She and her family are concerned that she might go crazy and start killing people like what they call a no-fanger. It's happened before and she's concerned that her losing her ability might be the first step to her going crazy serial killer. But she doesn't say anything to her sister about it which I thought was kinda crazy in itself.

Thorne is using the cabin close to her while her family figures out how to help him. Stephanie is so bubbly, so open and forthright that she makes Thorne feel comfortable right away. He feels like he's a freak and wasn't sure how she would respond to seeing him at first but they got along right from the start. They both find the other attractive right away and he finds her funny so they get along really well. It was fun to watch them fall for one another.

It would have been interesting if Stephanie could also hear her cat and dog's thoughts because they were so much fun but that wasn't part of the story which I thought would have been fun.

When Stephanie finds out that she has a stalker or someone is just spying on her, she and Thorne try and figure out why someone is spying on her. She thinks it's because she's an author and maybe one of her fans is trying to find out information about her newest book but then things get more dangerous and they have to call in backup.

I've been reading this series for a really long time. This is the 34th book in the series and I still love this series and look forward to reading the books when they come out. This was no exception, I loved Stephanie and Thorne, they were just so great together.

I received a copy of this book for review from NetGalley. Immortal Rising is a return to old times in a perfectly fun way. Stephanie and Thorne are both recurring characters who finally get their own book, and I couldn't be more thrilled. Like most of her previous books, Immortal Rising is a good blend of action and romance, with two people who definitely need more therapy, but are still a great match for each other. While I found the last couple of books a bit lacking, this one is more like her older style, and I really appreciated the difference. This was a fun romp, with relatively low angst, and a bad guy who definitely had it coming in the end.

In the latest installment of the Argeneau series, Lynsay Sands brings two previous secondary characters front and center as an old threat makes his violent return and almost finishes what he started years ago.

Between hearing everyone else's thoughts and having to survive as an Edentate, a fangless immortal, Stephanie has had a rough life since she was turned thirteen years ago. But, at least she can pass as human. The same can't be said for Thorne, one of Dressler's experiments with feathers for hair and giant wings on his back. In an attempt to live a normal life, Thorne finds himself next door to Stephanie's country home in Canada where he hopes to remove his wings once and for all. Once Thorne and Stephanie connect, both start to envision a future where Thorne is accepted as he is with Stephanie by his side. But just as Stephanie realizes Thorne might be her life mate, a common enemy from their past turns up and threatens everything they hold dear: their families, the immortals, and their newfound love for each other.

Immortal Rising is the 34th novel in the Argeneau series, and I have to applaud Lynsay Sands for finding new ways to keep this series fresh with each new release. I love this series, but I'll be the first to admit I felt it was getting a little stale around book 20 or so. But this series definitely has new life and Immortal Rising does a fantastic job at wrapping up a character arc that has been many books in the making. That being said, while earlier books in the Argeneau series can easily be read as standalones or out of order (every early book has a nice recap explanation of what being immortal means), by the time we get to Immortal Rising, there is a nice, over-arcing story line that can only truly be understood and appreciated by reading the prior books in the series.

Sands always does a fantastic job at creating life mates for her immortals, and Stephanie and Thorne's story is no different. I really loved their pairing; while other life mates have had things like food or music in common, Steph and Thorne went beyond the surface when it came to their commonalities. Both of these main characters felt like outsiders: Thorne because he was an experimental hybrid, and Stephanie because she was turned as an Edentate and couldn't function quite the same way as her fellow fanged immortals. I loved that these two people who felt like they didn't belong could find love and a feeling of belonging with each other.

Immortal Rising is written with the same quick-paced action and hint of mystery that is common in the Argeneau series. With cameos from many of our favorite immortals, this 34th book in the series combines fan favorites yet still creates a whole new story. I loved Thorne and Stephanie, and I was glad to see a larger story arc finally finding its resolution with this novel. Fans of the Argeneau series, and especially fans of the more recent Immortal titles, will not want to miss out on this newest title from Lynsay Sands.

After all these years I still absolutely love this series. Lynsay Sands brings romance, humor and drama together in this book, but continues to add twists that keep the series interesting and new.

Stephanie is a edentate and has a power that makes everyone worried that she’ll go rogue. She does everything to protect herself and her family, but feels so alone. Thorne was an “experiment” rescued from the island earlier in the series. He’s got wings that prevent him from going out in public so he ends up next door to Steph.

The cuteness of discovering they’re lifemates is so much fun. They’re honest but socially awkward and I loved them both.

This was my second Sands novel (also second of the #Argeneau series. I read the 1st book in the series and it was nice to hear a little about the MCs from that book and to get a glimpse of some of the other characters introduced in that book again. Sands has created an interesting world of immortals that can be read together or as standalones.

Thorne and Stephanie are lovely together. Both have been through some traumatic stuff and together they finally find peace and love. This book has some very funny moments, some sweet ones and some intense ones. Reading this book reminded me that I need to keep reading this series and more of Sands's books in general.
