Immortal Rising is another installment in the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands. In this book we meant the heroine Stephanie McGill who was attacked and turned as a teen. Stephanie is spunky, and immediately likable. Being an immortal is already quite something add to it that she has a pretty unique ability, and the reader can sense that she’s feeling rather lonely in her little carve corner, though she's surrounded by her very awesome adopted family.
Thorne we have met before, he is Dr. Dressler’s son, aka the wacko geneticist that loves experimenting with DNA recombination. This makes Thorne pretty unique himself, as he has human DNA spliced with animal DNA. Though this is fine as a read alone, I think it would be best if the other books were read also that first introduces us to Stephanie and Thorne. Having met the characters before, I did not think them a good pairing, but it was pulled off. Thorne physically looks like a man; a hot off the meters one, except he has wings that make it hard to live a normal life and so becomes Stephanie’s neighbor while Dani (Stephanie’s sister) figures out how to take them off. So, what follows is a steamy romantic adventure, full of the typical Ms Sands humor and quirk that makes you wanna read till the end. My review was given on the ARC copy received from the Publisher via NetGalley in return for my honest opinion.

After reading immortal rising all I can say is, wow. I flew through this book and couldn’t get enough. The action was great, good plot/dilemma, and then there’s some spicy romance all mixed together. The book keeps you on your toes as there’s always something happening, which makes it impossible to put down. There wasn’t a dull moment, and I absolutely LOVED Thorne and Stephanie. They’re both sweethearts and you can’t help but root for the both of them. I really hope they’re revisited in another book because at the ending they were talking about some exciting possibilities and I’d love to read more about their journey.

I drop in and out of this series because while a bit formulaic (the two main characters will fall in love, go through some personal incompatibility, and there will be a Happily Ever After), I find them to be perfect comfort reads. And this one lived up to my expectations - two great and unique main characters who treat each other as equals, a more serious outside overarching plotline, no miscommunciation trope, some funny moments sprinkled in.
Sands is a great writer - the characters are well-rounded and generally likeable and sympathetic and the romance and outside plot are given equal time. I appreciate that Sands has darker plot points but the story itself doesn't lean into the dark or horror that it easily could. I personally also love that all of the male characters that Sands writes are wonderful feminist males without the toxic masculinity traits that usually gets added to male main characters in romance/fantasy genre.
I also appreciate that this series edition gave enough background information that despite skipping quite a few I was able to pick up on all the overarching plot easily (one note is there were always a lot of characters mentioned by name that I assume are from previous books which was a little overwhelming at times).
If you are a fan of this series, this is another great edition. If you aren't this is a great one to start with.

I am so happy to see Stephanie's story come to life and we get an in depth look at her romance!
FINALLLLY!

As usual, another awesome book by MS. Sands
I love this series, and I love that each couple gets their own story.
I am so happy that Stephanie gets a happy ending and a life mate, it's awesome that it is one of the hybrids from Dressler's island.
I am also glad that Stephanie and Dani got to have their "talk" about their relationship
This story like all in the series, has lots of action and lots of loving.

I loved this story. I have read quite a few of Lynsay Sands' books, but it's been awhile since I've read any paranormal. Once I got into it, I couldn't put it down. The main characters were Stephanie and Thorne. Stephanie had been turned when she was just a teenager and was having trouble shutting out the voices from people around her. Thorne had been created by a psycho, had wings, hearing of a bat and several other things that made him very special. It was quite embarrassing for her when she said something about him having a hot body and realized he could hear her. The story moved along quickly and lots of things were explained when Lucian and his group came out to help with an attack on them. He figured out pretty quickly what was happening to her.
I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review

This is the second book I have read by this author. I liked her characters. Stephanie was going to get through with or without anyone. Thorne was a made from a genetic experiment. I didn't care to much for that aspect of the book but I did enjoy their relationship between Stephanie and Thorne. Would recommend it because it was very exciting.

We met Stephanie in The Immortal Hunter when she was brutally attacked and changed at the tender age of fifteen. She has grown up and has learned to use her problems to assist the rogue hunters.
We met Thorne in Immortal Unchained. Thorne is a unique being with the looks of a fallen angel.
When they meet the chemistry is undeniable but they both have issues. As with everything since she was turned Stephanie tackles this with smarts, humor and fortitude. These two were made for each other.
I loved seeing a grown-up Stephanie and her relationship with her sister Dani. I loved the interplay between Lucian and Stephanie.
I truly love this series and was thrilled to see Stephanie get her happy.

This was my first time picking up a book in this series but I definitely don't think it will be my last. I have also never read a paranormal book by Lynsay Sands but she brought me to the dark side. I really enjoyed this novel Stephanie and Thorne were so good for each other, I liked how their romance blossomed. There was also a great balance between their romance and the mystery and action in the storyline. I never felt like the story slowed down or got boring at any point it was all so captivating. I was a little nervous that I wasn't going to understand what was happening in the plot because this was the 34th book in the Argeneau series but I never felt lost, anyone could easily pick this book up as a stand alone. I'm glad I had the opportunity to read this book it made me want to read the rest in the series! And I'm so happy there are 33 other it will hold me over until the next books come out. Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC.

I was very excited to read this book, I'm a huge fan of the series and have been reading it for a very long time and Stephanie and Thorne were definitely two that I was interested in. Unfortunately, for me it fell a bit flat. I was so excited because I thought Stephanie had this huge destiny in the series but it all just ended blandly. To start I was a little thrown that Stephanie was grown up all of a sudden because last we saw here she was I would say 15. I guess I just found that the story didn't feel very original, it felt like something we had read before and I felt like it moved slow and fast at the same time. Overall, I thought that they were cute and they made a good couple and I liked that Thorne was very different than the usual but I felt that it just didn't gel the way that it usually does and was a lot blander than the books generally are.

Nothing absolutely significant to say about this. I felt a bit meh about this one. The end was the best part. Not because it was over but because everything came together.

It has been a while since I read a Lynsay Sands book. I had 6 of them to catch up on. I can tell you it was not a chore. It was like coming home again. I love her writing. It always brings me joy. Now I’ve read others people reviews of this already and I saw that some say that you could read this as a stand-alone. That you didn’t have to read the others. While Lynsay Sands does always break down the important information in ever book as a recap of the important information in case you do. I do not recommend reading this as a stand-alone. Stephanie’s story had been a long time coming. And as we have seen her sister, Dani’s, story and the island where Throne comes from you miss a lot of precious information about who Dressler is your n the beginning and why it is important that he is in the beginning of the book. Over all I think this is one of my favorite Argeneau story’s.
Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollons for the opportunity to read this Advance Reader Copy!

#netgalleyarc I’ve been reading this series for a LONG time and this is one of the better books I’ve read in the last few years. It still follows the typical “recipe” of the series but this one was more exciting and entertaining compared to the last few books of the series. Not something I’ll purchase for my high school library but still a great, fun read.

This book has a very unique story with great smut, humor, drama, and characters. Where it fell short for me was there was a lot of double explaining where it didn’t need to be and didn’t let the reader connect the dots.

Another great entry in the Argeneau series from author Lynsay Sands. Stephanie is a misfit in the immortal world. Thorne is an experiment by Dr. Dressler a one of a kind. Both are looking to have a little privacy but things get heated when Dr. Dressler wants Stephanie. This was a fun read.

I don't really know why I love lynsay sands so much, but I could read her books and never come across one I didn't like. Sometimes I feel like she runs out of ideas and uses the same trope over again with the same plot, but idk if it's nostalgic for me or what but I still love them. This felt a bit similar to a couple others she wrote, yet I still loved it.

I'd stopped reading these for awhile, because it felt like she was recycling stories. Sadly, it still feels that way, BUT that said, I loved seamlessly entering her world again. Always just a simply good, quick read!

Immortal Rising, the 34th Argeneau book proves that the series is still going strong. I really enjoyed seeing Stephanie finally get a HEA. We've been following her story for a very long time in the series now, and it was satisfying to see how her romance resolved the big outstanding issues. I also liked seeing Thorne again & while I wouldn't have thought of him as a match for Stephanie, it totally made sense in the book.. They are 2 unique beings that fit together. The action and mystery kept the story moving and built to a fantastic finale.

It was so much fun being back into this series that I loved in adolescence, seeing how everyone has settled into their roles and lives and seeing these two characters that we’ve glimpsed at so many times before find a home in each other, against all odds!
Although I don’t think that you have to read all the other books in the series to enjoy and understand this book, I feel like your enjoyment of this story would be enriched by knowing and loving the other characters we got glimpses of throughout!
I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This review is written as someone who has read every book in this series already. I will be giving perspective from other books in this review, as there are some that are comparable and the reason for my rating.
First off, can I say I was extremely excited about getting my hands on this book and reading Stephanies Story, though I'm so used to her being portrayed as this young girl from the other books...Watching her grow with the books and characters, it felt a bit like reading my younger sisters story due to knowing all about her and her issues!
Thorne I was truly not expecting to see again, I think it's quite nice we are getting him paired with someone. I didn't expect him and Stephanie to be an option (Honestly I had someone else pegged for Stephanie and was curious what would happen!)
From here on out, I will be mentioning Spoilers and my thoughts on certain parts of the book.
Though we have seen Stephanie in several other books, this is the first time we truly get to see her, if you catch my drift. In other books, she did all she could to help others and distract from her problems. It is really nice to get a look into how she truly feels about everything, and how the people around her are hurting her more than helping her. (Excluding Lucian who definitely gained even more respect from me in this book, he said so many amazing things to her.) It's also nice to know she did go see Greg and wrote a bunch of Journals - Journals she has now published as horror books! I think it's quite amazing she's an author, I was curious why she didn't reach out to Lucern/Kate - perhaps she wanted to do everything herself but I'm sure he wouldn't have minded at least recommending some things to help her out.
I quite enjoyed the pacing of this book at the beginning. For half of the chapters (Roughly 13-15) it felt like such amazing pacing, they really took some time to get to know each other till all hell broke loose. It was hot, dirty and fast - as one expects from Life Mates in this series, it's how the power of Life Mates & Shared Pleasure works, it's irresistible and always happens this way. Though Nano's were explained a bit, I feel like it wasn't as clean as it was in previous books due to both of them knowing about Nano's, life mates and more. There is more of an explanation in other books that will help you understand why the Passion life mates feel is so strong.
I loved the interaction between Stephanie and Thorne overall. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about something like this with his wings. I was wondering before reading "Will his wings be removed early? Surely they'll get removed right?" and this is where I feel the story, though great, is missing a chapter.
Towards the last few chapters, the pace suddenly picks up drastically. It is not a slow change, but basically instant. This, is also common in these books as of late (Last 7 or 8 books I believe)...At this point I should be used to it, but I find this one particularly disappointing. Leonius was a type of Boogie Man, so was his right hand man...Both had so many books about them, and both of their deaths were basically instant but the build up for both still felt better than Dresslers death. I find it so frustrating that it's just a one liner and the next chapter is days later. Dressler was basically the newest villain after Leo, he had a huge part in some of the books and to see his end happen like this is very confusing to me. It felt rushed, though I'm glad the chapter of that villain is over I can't help but wonder if all future villain deaths will be like that.
If you can compare this to the villain in Leigh/Lucian's book, Morgan, he had just as much screen time as this man and his death was a big deal overall. There was a chapter or two of him just chatting and explaining things, talking about things, etc. Perhaps we did get that in the original book Thorne appeared in, but we have NO IDEA what he's been doing since being turned. Gathering other Immortals? What were his plans? What's been going on since those few years of him leaving the island? We had no villain growth in my opinion. All we knew was he wanted Stephanie for experiments. What other experiments was he conducting?
Further more about Stephanie/Thorne, they finally had a decent conversation after Stephanie blew up at him for leaving her house without saying goodbye after...several steamy sessions. So he broke down some things, she broke down some things - they both agreed Children were not possible at this time but that was pretty much the only thing they talked about. Will he become an immortal or are they just ignoring it because he's a hybrid with self healing powers.
He was 35 at the first time of his healing process, does he look 35? Or does he look 22 as Steph stated when she first mentioned his looks. Not to mention, every time he gets badly hurt he goes into stasis and heals...What happens if it happens too close together? Say Tuesday he gets hurt, wakes up Friday gets hurt Friday. Another Stasis? Will he become even younger? Though it's stated it seems his other animal DNA is preventing that, or maybe even human DNA, how often is he hurt badly enough to fully test that? What about becoming Immortal? He doesn't want to lose his wings at all, but what will happen if he doesn't become one? Stephanie somehow always winds up a target for people, so I'm sure there will be more in the future looking to hurt her. Though he has some powers of healing and everything, he just isn't as strong and stable as an immortal. Will she forever be worried about him due to that? The same way Immortals fus over their Mortal mates? He may not be mortal, but he's also not Immortal and I feel like this book did not address problems that needed to be addressed. Because of this, the book felt incomplete and very open ended, that frustrates me.
I read someone's review here that said everything happened in chapter 2 and things past the middle of the book felt like filler...I was going into this expecting it to be one of my least favorites, but I have no idea what that person was talking about that is not at all what happened. Perhaps it's because I'm used to the pacing of Lynsay's books, but there are others who have stated you don't need to read any of the other books to read this one which is mostly true! You get lore, back story, but each character mention has their own story and personality that in my opinion you can't get with this book. There's stories about Stephanie and Thorne you can't get from this one book. There is previous character build up I recommend reading, not that you can't enjoy this book on its own as I said but I think if you read the rest of the books, or just a few considering its a huge series, you will better understand and appreciate a lot of things happening.
My 3 star review has to do with the harsh pacing towards the end (Though it's becoming common in her books, I just dislike it.) - the fact that Thorne/Steph realistically got no where with a lot of their problems. It was just a bit "live in the moment" type of Romance, which is fine but not in the paranormal world where one is a vampire and the other is a human/animal hybrid. The questions not being answered is a huge deal breaker for me. Not to mention dresslers death being so...anti-climatic. After books of this guy, the build up of waiting for him to get caught he just dies instantly. I get why Steph and Thorne escaped at the grocery store, obviously none of her family knew where she was and wouldn't even know Dressler had her. At least this way they could prepare, but gosh the fact that he didn't capture them and nothing was discussed on what he planned to do kinda just pushed all the air out of you. It was just lame.
This book had a lot of carbon copies of other books. (Lucern/Kate = Writer/Editor, Machete used to chop the villains head off in a similar way) - the stuff with Dani also just felt unresolved. They cried a bit in the kitchen or what have you and that was kinda it.
