This review is written as someone who has read every book in this series already. I will be giving perspective from other books in this review, as there are some that are comparable and the reason for my rating.

First off, can I say I was extremely excited about getting my hands on this book and reading Stephanies Story, though I'm so used to her being portrayed as this young girl from the other books...Watching her grow with the books and characters, it felt a bit like reading my younger sisters story due to knowing all about her and her issues!

Thorne I was truly not expecting to see again, I think it's quite nice we are getting him paired with someone. I didn't expect him and Stephanie to be an option (Honestly I had someone else pegged for Stephanie and was curious what would happen!)

From here on out, I will be mentioning Spoilers and my thoughts on certain parts of the book.

Though we have seen Stephanie in several other books, this is the first time we truly get to see her, if you catch my drift. In other books, she did all she could to help others and distract from her problems. It is really nice to get a look into how she truly feels about everything, and how the people around her are hurting her more than helping her. (Excluding Lucian who definitely gained even more respect from me in this book, he said so many amazing things to her.) It's also nice to know she did go see Greg and wrote a bunch of Journals - Journals she has now published as horror books! I think it's quite amazing she's an author, I was curious why she didn't reach out to Lucern/Kate - perhaps she wanted to do everything herself but I'm sure he wouldn't have minded at least recommending some things to help her out.

I quite enjoyed the pacing of this book at the beginning. For half of the chapters (Roughly 13-15) it felt like such amazing pacing, they really took some time to get to know each other till all hell broke loose. It was hot, dirty and fast - as one expects from Life Mates in this series, it's how the power of Life Mates & Shared Pleasure works, it's irresistible and always happens this way. Though Nano's were explained a bit, I feel like it wasn't as clean as it was in previous books due to both of them knowing about Nano's, life mates and more. There is more of an explanation in other books that will help you understand why the Passion life mates feel is so strong.

I loved the interaction between Stephanie and Thorne overall. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about something like this with his wings. I was wondering before reading "Will his wings be removed early? Surely they'll get removed right?" and this is where I feel the story, though great, is missing a chapter.

Towards the last few chapters, the pace suddenly picks up drastically. It is not a slow change, but basically instant. This, is also common in these books as of late (Last 7 or 8 books I believe)...At this point I should be used to it, but I find this one particularly disappointing. Leonius was a type of Boogie Man, so was his right hand man...Both had so many books about them, and both of their deaths were basically instant but the build up for both still felt better than Dresslers death. I find it so frustrating that it's just a one liner and the next chapter is days later. Dressler was basically the newest villain after Leo, he had a huge part in some of the books and to see his end happen like this is very confusing to me. It felt rushed, though I'm glad the chapter of that villain is over I can't help but wonder if all future villain deaths will be like that.

If you can compare this to the villain in Leigh/Lucian's book, Morgan, he had just as much screen time as this man and his death was a big deal overall. There was a chapter or two of him just chatting and explaining things, talking about things, etc. Perhaps we did get that in the original book Thorne appeared in, but we have NO IDEA what he's been doing since being turned. Gathering other Immortals? What were his plans? What's been going on since those few years of him leaving the island? We had no villain growth in my opinion. All we knew was he wanted Stephanie for experiments. What other experiments was he conducting?

Further more about Stephanie/Thorne, they finally had a decent conversation after Stephanie blew up at him for leaving her house without saying goodbye after...several steamy sessions. So he broke down some things, she broke down some things - they both agreed Children were not possible at this time but that was pretty much the only thing they talked about. Will he become an immortal or are they just ignoring it because he's a hybrid with self healing powers.

He was 35 at the first time of his healing process, does he look 35? Or does he look 22 as Steph stated when she first mentioned his looks. Not to mention, every time he gets badly hurt he goes into stasis and heals...What happens if it happens too close together? Say Tuesday he gets hurt, wakes up Friday gets hurt Friday. Another Stasis? Will he become even younger? Though it's stated it seems his other animal DNA is preventing that, or maybe even human DNA, how often is he hurt badly enough to fully test that? What about becoming Immortal? He doesn't want to lose his wings at all, but what will happen if he doesn't become one? Stephanie somehow always winds up a target for people, so I'm sure there will be more in the future looking to hurt her. Though he has some powers of healing and everything, he just isn't as strong and stable as an immortal. Will she forever be worried about him due to that? The same way Immortals fus over their Mortal mates? He may not be mortal, but he's also not Immortal and I feel like this book did not address problems that needed to be addressed. Because of this, the book felt incomplete and very open ended, that frustrates me.

I read someone's review here that said everything happened in chapter 2 and things past the middle of the book felt like filler...I was going into this expecting it to be one of my least favorites, but I have no idea what that person was talking about that is not at all what happened. Perhaps it's because I'm used to the pacing of Lynsay's books, but there are others who have stated you don't need to read any of the other books to read this one which is mostly true! You get lore, back story, but each character mention has their own story and personality that in my opinion you can't get with this book. There's stories about Stephanie and Thorne you can't get from this one book. There is previous character build up I recommend reading, not that you can't enjoy this book on its own as I said but I think if you read the rest of the books, or just a few considering its a huge series, you will better understand and appreciate a lot of things happening.

My 3 star review has to do with the harsh pacing towards the end (Though it's becoming common in her books, I just dislike it.) - the fact that Thorne/Steph realistically got no where with a lot of their problems. It was just a bit "live in the moment" type of Romance, which is fine but not in the paranormal world where one is a vampire and the other is a human/animal hybrid. The questions not being answered is a huge deal breaker for me. Not to mention dresslers death being so...anti-climatic. After books of this guy, the build up of waiting for him to get caught he just dies instantly. I get why Steph and Thorne escaped at the grocery store, obviously none of her family knew where she was and wouldn't even know Dressler had her. At least this way they could prepare, but gosh the fact that he didn't capture them and nothing was discussed on what he planned to do kinda just pushed all the air out of you. It was just lame.

This book had a lot of carbon copies of other books. (Lucern/Kate = Writer/Editor, Machete used to chop the villains head off in a similar way) - the stuff with Dani also just felt unresolved. They cried a bit in the kitchen or what have you and that was kinda it.

I could not put this down! Started it at 9 pm and finished at 1am. I'm not even a romance fan but the mystery involved helps me. I started reading this series years ago and have kept up on all the new releases. Glad I got to read this as an ARC! Stephanie is a rock star and I'm so glad she found her life mate

It was a good story, I like how we came back to Dressler and I’d been wondering about Stephanie. I did feel as though was a little bit slow to realize things, but I enjoyed her character development. I also loved that Thorne had a life mate even though he is not an immortal, that was a cool idea.

I love Lynsay Sands her books never fail! Stephanie and Thorne make the perfect match. Just the perfect amount of conflict while focusing mainly on the couple. Absolutely loved it can't wait for the next!!

Being book #35 in the Argeneau series, by Lindsay Sands, you can imagine how popular the author’s books are. This is Stephanie and Thorne’s story. Both of these characters have appeared in earlier books, and it is nice to finally get them together as the stars of their own story.

Stephanie was introduced as a teenager early on in the series. Now she is an adult and living the life of a recluse because she has the unique ability to hear other people's thoughts. While that is good when hunting rogues, the crush of so many thoughts can be unbearable at times. Thus, her necessary rural and reclusive life that helps keep the noise to a minimum.

Thorne, also introduced in earlier books, is the result of genetic experiments conducted by his father Dr. Dressler. He is a mix of human and various animal DNA. As a result, he has wings and is not entirely mortal. Currently he is in Canada and staying at the compound that also contains Stephanie’s home while he awaits the possible removal of his wings.

When Thorne and Stephanie meet there is an instant attraction. When by chance their skin grazes the others, they both feel the electricity between them. Stephanie knows this can only be one thing, Thorne is her life mate. But will Thorne want her when he finds out her past and what will happen when Dressler comes looking for them both.

This book just further proves that this series is my go-to for vampire goodness. Enjoyed every moment of this story. I like how diverse Sands characters are and her imagination seems to know no bounds. She manages to keep delivering great story after great story and somehow keeps them fresh and exciting even after all this time.

Another thing I like about these books is that there is always some kind of tension and/or drama to keep the reader interested and invested in the outcome. The character development is good, and I was especially drawn to these two characters. I think it is because both of these characters have been through so much already and yet they still retain a positive outlook on life. Therefore, I really wanted them to have their happy ending.

I have read most of the books in this series and this one is in the top 5 for me. If you haven’t read any of these books, I strongly urge you to read this one or any of the others in the series for that matter. Sands always gives you enough background to read each book as a stand-alone.

I received a free copy, via NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review.

This is number 34 in the Argeneau Vampire series and it did not disappoint! We first met our main character Stephanie way back in the series when she was just a teenager. She is now in her ate 20's and living in a more secluded location to help her manage some of her powers. I have really enjoyed seeing Stephanie's growth throughout the entire series because she is one of the only characters who has aged since we met them. We also get reintroduced to a character we met a few books back and he could be one of my favorites in the series. Thorne is an experiment that never should have happened, his DNA has been mixed with many other creatures and so he is not very human and has many animal like features. Again this book is technically one you can just jump into but I think it makes the reading much better if you have some knowledge of this world and the characters because they all come back eventually in the books. Still highly recommend this series if you love a good paranormal romance! Thank you Avon for my gifted copy for review!

I've read all the books in the Argeneau series and enjoyed them. This is Stephanie and Thorne's story. Stephanie became an immortal when she was 15 due to a terrifying attack. She suffers from a debilitating headaches and her powers enable her to hear other peoples thoughts. When Stephanie meets Thorne, she is surprised to learn that he was genetically altered using creature, as well as human, DNA. His creator, Dressler, a deranged scientist, is trying to capture Stephanie and Thorne so he can continue his experiments. Recommended.

Wow-what a read! I know that many reviewers and long-time readers are going to be telling 'newbies' that they really should read some of the other books first. In my opinion, you do not have to do so. As it is, the first part of this series is written quite differently; lighter, funnier, a tad less descriptive sexually. That might make you feel the author needs to grow, but she already has. The series has changed as time went on.

The second reason is that this book has enough necessary back-story that makes reading some of the later works in this series unnecessary. I myself was in a quandary when I didn't remember some essential past issues that were being discussed in this book. However, to my delight, just as I was beyond frustrated, everything was explained. So now I don't have to do a considerable re-read of the whole series. Not that I won't LOL!

What we have here is one of the best Argeneau books that I have read in a long time. The characters are fresh, sexy, and quite interesting. They have a lot more going on than just pining for each other.

Stephanie is a non-fang vampire, and Thorne is the result of a DNA experiment by his nutsy cuckoo father. Thorne has come to this remote area to see if he can have an operation that would make him "normal. Stephanie is in the same area because she hears thinner and outer voices of everyone in her vicinity. She needs to be alone. But fate is going to lead them on a wonderful trip filled with excitement, fighting, and a ton load of know-it-all vampires!

A thrilling, supernatural romance.
I've never read any of the Argeneau series before, but this book makes me want to dive into this sexy vampire series and stay there. Elements of suspense, a slow-burn romance, and a crazy mad scientist hunting the couple down? Sign me up.

I received this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I am familiar with this author and recently reread this series. I enjoy this book and like the H&H. It was instant love. This story deals with accepting yourself for who you are, validation you are worthy of love, and family dynamics of both H&H. I like povs. It can be read as a stand-alone but I would recommend reading some of the earlier ones of her series because I felt the connection of the whys, whos, and what was a little lacking if I was new to this series. I did also feel in the previous book there was more community commitment with the H &H. This was a quick read for me but felt her earlier work had more umph or something. It was a good read but was expecting a little more only because I had read the whole series. I would still recommend this author and series. I will still seek out her books.

I received an arc from Net Galley. This book was fantastic. I loved that Steph finally got a happy ending, I've been rooting for her for a long time. A lot of past characters make an appearance. I'm hoping for a happy story about Thornes mom and aunt.

Immortal Rising is the 34th entry in the Argeneau series and unlike most of the others this is probably one of the very few I would recommend reading some of the previous books. While most in the Argeneau series can be read as standalones, there are still a lot of recurring characters and plot arcs that are going on. And both main characters from this book come from two different arcs that explain heavily their backgrounds and stories they come from. Now, it isn’t absolutely necessary as I think Sands does a decent job concisely explaining things but I definitely think it will help and this is the first book that doesn’t go too deep into what Immortals are or even too deep into the lifemate thing. Any other book before this one will do that.

That being said, this is probably one of my top favorites in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed Stephanie’s character and humor and thought she meshed very well with Thorne. I loved seeing all the past characters and had just a good time with this. I was nervous going in because we are introduced to Stephanie in the beginning of the Rogue Hunter series, as a teenager. And she is a moody, angsty thing (as teenagers are), and though I know she has evolved since then in glimpses from other books, I was afraid she wouldn’t have “grown up” enough for my taste. I was pleasantly surprised that this book has taken place 13 years later, girl is in her late twenties and she is doing great for someone who is burdened with the constant pressing thoughts of everyone around her in an 8-mile radius. Yikes. She had a great sense of humor and didn’t get super angsty.

Thorne, also being a bit of “freak” himself, was super chill and charming and well…hot. I thought they had great chemistry and even their misunderstandings turned into good communication. None of the things I hate in romance got dragged out. Miscommunication? Solved quickly. Virgin trope? Made sense, didn’t get weird or drawn out. Lucien being an alpha mother hen? I always love it, could never hate that.

I was so happy I received this book for review. Lynsay Sands is one of my comfort authors and I recommend her Argeneau series for a light fun contemporary paranormal romance read. You can really pick up almost any of them and not be lost, but it is worth it to read them all in my opinion.

I love Lucien. While I haven’t read all thirty something of these books, I have enjoyed several off them. I love the idea of life mates and seeing Stephanie have to be pinned down and told that Thorne was he life mate was adorable. These books shoe personality flaws and how the right partner can make up for it. Good plot. Likeable characters. And Lucien is great!

Lynsay Sands delivers another hit in the thirty-fourth installment in the Argeneau Series. Stephanie has been an immortal since a horrible attack when she was fourteen years old. She suffers from a debilitating power that leaves her isolated. Thorne isn’t an immortal, but a genetic mix of man and creatures. While being stalked by the crazed scientist that made him, they realize that they are life mates.

As with other books in the series, previous characters come back to help the new couple catch the bad guys. It was delightful watching Stephanie and Thorne come together and realize that they could conquer any issues and make a life together. And as always, the cast of familiar faces makes the story feel like a homecoming.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

IMMORTAL RISING (Argeneau #34) by Lynsay Sands

This is the 34th installment of the Argeneau family series, and it is still not tired and is worthy of continuing. Stephanie who we have been invested with for several books finally got her HEA. Thorne is such an interesting character and a great counterpart for Stephanie. It was great to have Lucian very involved. It is always a welcome blast from the past to have the earlier characters come in the story. Once again Lynsay Sands brings the heat, the witty banter and a solid storyline. I enjoyed this and give it 4 stars.

*This review is for an ARC**
I want to start off by saying I probably should have did more research on this book because I was unaware it was an entire series and this is #34. Despite that I did not feel like I missed anything crazy because I read the whole book and the story made complete sense. There were a ton of characters that I am guessing the first 33 books cover however they were not focal points of this story so not knowing their background did not bother me.

Stephanie - is constantly on the brink of losing control because of the voices of others in her head. This girl is a total rock star who can take care of herself. It is so refreshing to read a book with a strong woman character who can kick butt and take care of herself.
Thorne - a mixing bowl of DNA convinced he is a freak. He is a total hottie with amazing abilities because of his different DNA.

The story immediately captured my attention because it starts off with action. Stephanie uses her power to hear people's thoughts to assist others in rounding up rouges who mean harm. Eventually, Stephanie move's out to the country where there are not so many voices to be heard. Here is where she meets Thorne who is staying in the neighboring home. I love books with mates and I almost always give them 5 stars. I have no problem with Thorne being a bird person either (Ice Planet Barbarians are blue devils great series you should read it). I was excited for the tension that seemed to be building between Thorne and Stephanie but it was snapped within a chapter or two of them meeting. There is plenty of steam which really added back the stars I would have taken away for the lack of additional build-up. I wish there was just a little more time between their joining because it felt pretty rushed. Then once they were joined the middle of the book just felt like filler to catch up the background characters on what was happening. The ending of this book was just as exciting as the beginning. Plenty of action and what happened. There is a HAE although the whole book takes place over the course of like a week so it was a little off to me.

I am definitely going to go back and start with book 1 because I like the concept of the characters and world. It is similar to other fantasy books but it has it's own twist as well. No-fanger immortals was an interesting take.

Stephanie and Thorne are the main couple in this long time series. The story is a little different.

Thorne is a Hybrid a creation of his evil father Dressler.

Stephanie has a super unique ability that we’ve never seen before. She’s also Edentate. With no fangs.

They are life-mates.

Thorne closed his eyes on a sigh, wondering how he would convince Stephanie to marry him without finding out about—His eyes popped open. “Grandchildren?”

His mother is a trip. I love her so much.

Just another great edition to this awesome series.

I really enjoyed this book. The mentions of Atlantis and nanos was really fun. I felt like some big parts were a bit anticlimactic, but the storyline itself was very entertaining. I am excited to see what’s in store for Thorne and Stephanie. I would definitely recommend to friends! I will do. More thorough review once the book in releases to avoid any spoilers. Great start!

I requested this book because it had an awesome cover. It wasn't until after I got approved I realized it's #30-something in its series! I put it off for a while because I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep up, but when. I finally started it I read it in a day! The characters are really sweet and loveable, I love their chemistry.
