My book bestie @blondethrillerbooklover told me to drop everything to the top to read this one and I’m glad that I did! Truth be told, I’m kind of tired of Big Little Lies type books, and I would classify this book as that, but this book still seemed super fresh! I was invested in the characters and I felt for them with their problems. I would absolutely love to see this made into a tv show! This one stayed entertaining throughout. Very fast paced and perfect if you like domestic thrillers.

Thanks to @htpbooks for my copy!

Cora, Paige and Georgia are neighbors in a not-so-perfect neighborhood. In fact, the problems there are many. For example, is Cora's husband Finn cheating on her? What has caused Georgia to become agoraphobic? What about Paige? Will she ever be able to deal with the loss of her son due to a hit-and-run accident, or to what lengths will she go to seeking the person that took him away from her?

These neighbors' lives all intersect. Maybe at first their interactions were due to kind concern for one another, but that concern soon morphs into sinister behavior, illustrating secrets and distrust, even spying. Furthermore, at least one of the women have a deep backstory, one so deep that it changes the entire trajectory of this thrilling read. Infidelity, accidental death or worse, and other dark things are happening in the exclusive neighborhood of Brighton Hills.

With the three POVs from the women, a sticky web of lies and secrets is spun, all leading to an exciting conclusion. In fact, as secrets are revealed, the deceit that exists between Cora, Paige and Georgia is mind-blowing. Whether it was duplicitous nature that was happening, or the way the story unfolded and came to an end, Seraphina Nova Glass had my attention from page one and never let it go.

Many thanks to Graydon House and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

This book was a great slow-burn psychological thriller with a very original storyline! I enjoyed how the plot was told from the perspective of 3 very unique characters, and how their lives eventually connect in the second half of the book. There were a few twists and turns that I was not expecting which made the second half un-put-downable!

This was SO GOOD! Such a page turner I read it all in one day. I loved how none of the characters were quite who they seemed to be, and there were plenty of twists! Such a fun read.

“Nothing ever happens in Brighton Hills. Well, nothing you can see, anyway.” It’s a quiet, gated community filled with professional people, but a year ago on one fateful night things changed. Now Paige is desperate to find out what really happened and to seek justice in an unjust world. Cora is watching her marriage fall apart and Georgia is afraid to leave her home. When the three join forces and share their deep dark secrets, they are an unstoppable force, but until justice is served no one is safe. Glass has written an addictive domestic drama that has its share of snark and humor. Paige is a character I would like to know and have my back, yet be slightly terrified of at the same time! Quite the page turner by Glass!

ON A QUIET STREET is set in one of those communities where everything looks soooo good from the outside. But you know the saying — Looks can be deceiving. Add one bereft mother intent on discovering the truth about the death of her golden child with equal parts bordering-on-psychotic, obsessive, suspicious wife, and a young, beautiful, but oh-so-reclusive neighbor across the street and you have the recipe for a page-turning drama.

Paige is convinced the hit and run death of her son was no accident and she’s determined to get to the bottom of it. She’s a strong, fearless woman who has honed her unauthorized surveillence skills to a level that would match those of seasoned investigators and master criminals alike. This particular skill set comes in handy when her long-time friend and neighbor, Cora, decides she needs to get to the bottom of her years-long suspicions of her husband’s infidelity. They hatch a plot that risks their being discovered and threatens to undermine their friendship in the worst possible way.

In the midst of all of this, thier paths cross with Georgia, the young mother across the street who never leaves her home and does not welcome visitors. According to her husband, this is because she is mentally unwell. But is she? Or is there more to that story? Who are the heroines and who are the villains? More than once I thought I had it all figured out only to find I was quite mistaken.

I found the ending to be very satisfying and really appreciated the manner in which a certain element was dealt with. (Sorry, I can’t give more detail there without spoilers but I’d love to discuss if you’ve read this one too so please feel free to reach out.) This is the first book I’ve read by author Seraphina Nova Glass but it will not be the last.

Many thanks to Graydon House Books for my complimenary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have to be honest and say that I wasn't sure if this book would be for me, because I'm usually not a fan of a cheating angle in my stories... But after reading a review by a fellow blogger I simply couldn't resist getting a copy of On A Quiet Street anyway, and especially because I've enjoyed Seraphina Nova Glass' writing in the past. And I'm glad she brought this book back on my radar, because I ended up having a strangely excellent time with this domestic thriller filled with basically unstable and unreliable characters!

On A Quiet Street is set on, what the title already suggests, a quiet street in an exclusive community on the Oregon coast. It seems to be the place where nothing ever happens, but nothing is as it seems behind closed doors... Something that we will learn soon enough once we get to know our three narrators. The story is told using a three-way POV structure, where we switch between Paige, Cora and Georgia. Every single one of them has that unreliable narrator feel and they are without doubt very flawed and sometimes even erratic characters. You are left wondering if you actually like them or not, but there is no denying the fact that they spice up the story considerably. And they all have plenty of secrets to hide!

I don't want to give away too much of the plot to avoid spoilers, because there is one thing for sure: On A Quiet Street has more than one major plot twist hiding between the pages. Nothing is as it seems and while you switch back and forth between feeling sympathy and disliking each character, it's also very easy to appreciate the full story as it unfolds. True, there really is an overload of cheating and love triangles everywhere, but somehow strangely enough I wasn't too bothered by that. I think this has a lot to do with both the strong writing, plot and the fact that you are distracted by seemingly more important things happening in the story.

Apart from the cheating and love triangles, the story also focused on heavier topics such as grooming, abuse, gaslighting and grief. Each topic was incorporated in a solid way and the different characters helped bring life and credibility to each. Especially Georgia's situation was shocking to be honest; and not in the least because it's all too plausible... The gaslighting and manipulation was also really well done. I do have to say that the whole cheating overdose could have done with some scaling down as it would have helped me enjoy the story even more... But that is just a personal pet peeve.

In short, if you enjoy a well written and twisty domestic thriller and don't mind having a bunch of unreliable and sometimes even erratic characters at the helm, On A Quiet Street is an excellent choice.

A thank you to Netgalley for sharing the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

And, in the interest of honesty, and after skimming the other reviews just now, I am obviously one of a few who did not thoroughly enjoy this domestic drama. In fact, quite the contrary - I didn't enjoy it at all, and truth be told, didn't bother to finish it despite nearing the end. Maybe I'm just over books about creepy elitist communities with the everyone is lying storyline. Of course, that's probably a lie. I think it's more likely that I listened to the book in Hoopla, and while I feel incredibly mean and judgmental, I could not stand the author's narration, especially when she attempted to voice the over the top voice of Cora. Nails on a chalkboard. Who knows? Maybe I would've loved it had I just picked up the book.

Oh wow...I really like this books. This one is a domestic suspense thriller read.

The story following Paige, Cora, and Georgia, three wives in exclusive community on the Oregon coast Brighton Hills a year after a murder happened. The more I read the more dark secrets revealed and more twists and turns popped up and each got me on the edge of my seat. Also the more I read the more these women got under my skin, I'm angry when they're angry, I'm sad when something bad happened to them, I'm scared when they're scared, I'm so invested in their story, I understand why they did what they did and admire how much they're fighting to survive, I root for them, I just want them to be happy.

As for the suspense, this book really delivered a great suspense, there are some parts that just hard to read with all the gory details that made me want to stop but I just can't stop because I really need to know what will happen next, and there are also parts when my heart racing so fast, I just so worried that something will end not well.

As for the plot itself, it's predictable and not that shocking and there's some part that I wish there's more in the conclusion, but it doesn't take away the enjoyment of the whole story, I still love it nonetheless.

Captivating story, great suspense and great characters, definitely highly recommend, but please see the trigger warning, there's a lot gaslighting in it.

I really enjoyed the characters and multiple points of views in this story. The secrets and twists were great.

This neighborhood street is anything but quiet. It may seem that way because of all the secrets that must be kept quiet. The story is told from multiple POV of the women in the street. Suspected cheating husbands, grieving mothers, and a quiet new neighbor. I can’t give away my favorite part of the book because it would be a spoiler but it’s good! I also loved the characters and could relate to each one. I’ve never been in any of their situations but could picture it in the book. This is a book that kept my attention and wanted to be read until the end.

On a Quiet Street takes us inside a gated community, a place where it's only quiet because almost everyone is hiding something. Is Cora's husband a cheater, or is she imagining things? Was Paige's son the victim of an accident, or was it cold-blooded murder? And what is up with quiet, reclusive Georgia? Seraphina Nova Glass gives us the answers to those questions and more, but she takes a twisted route to get there (twisted as in winding and twisted as in warped).
The story is told from three viewpoints - Cora, Paige, and Georgia - and parts of this one are difficult to get through. What I mean is there are things the empathetic part of me had a hard time with, and I had to walk away a couple of times and come back later. So, things do get intense in this domestic drama/suspense, and as much as I dislike trigger warnings, it would be wise to heed them here. On the flip side, some things are a little out there, so you'll need to rely on a good deal of suspension of disbelief. I won't go into details about which parts, so I don't give anything away, but there were things that didn't quite work for that part of me who must question everything.
Suspension of disbelief and triggers aside, I expected a story that would pull me in, and I found it. I genuinely wanted to see how everything would play out, and I wanted to know this book's secrets. This is the third book I've read by Glass, and I've yet to be disappointed. This is one I'll be thinking about for some time, and I'll be on the lookout for whatever this author does next.

On a Quiet Street is a slow burn mystery that takes place on an upper middle class street where everyone has secrets. The story is told through the perspective of three of the residents. I'll be honest, it took me a while to get through this book. The first two-thirds was really slow. I didn't like any of the characters all that much. The only one I truly had any empathy for was Georgia...for obvious reasons that show up about halfway through the book. There is a lot of cheating in this book. You all know I'm not a fan of that. The last third of the book was better and I did like the ending. It's always nice when there is justice. It's OK, just nothing very thrilling.

A lot happens on this supposedly quiet street in a quiet suburb in Oregon. From the three couples in On a Quiet Street by Seraphina Nova Glass stem all kinds of family and marital issues - death, grief, loss, infidelity, prenuptial agreements, parenting, deception, gaslighting abuse, and more. The book builds to a dramatic conclusion centered around the powerful concept of women standing up for themselves and for each other.

Sometimes you read a book that takes a while to catch your interest, sometimes a book grabs you right away and doesn’t let go. Seraphina Nova Glass’ new novel, On A Quiet Street, took a hold of me on page one and never let up.

The story follows three women who live in a quiet, wealthy enclave called Brighton Hills on the Oregon coast. Paige is mourning the hit and run death of her 22 year-old son Caleb, who was killed near their home. His mother has made it her mission to discover which one of her neighbors killed her son and left him for dead. She is a regular visitor to the police department, and has narrowed her list of suspects. Her husband Grant has moved out, but he still loves his wife dearly.

Cora is married to Finn, mom to two teens, and spends much of her time doing various charitable works. She doesn’t trust her husband, believing that Finn is once again cheating on her. Finn tells Cora that she is crazy to think he is not loyal to her, and he is tired of the accusations.

Paige offers to use her newfound sleuthing skills to help Cora get the evidence she needs to prove that Finn is a liar and cheat. Fed up, Cora takes Paige up on her offer.

Georgia is married to Lucas, a well-respected judge in the community. She spends all her time caring for their baby Avery, and is rarely seen outside of the home. Cora has tried several times to befriend Georgia, only to be rebuffed. Lucas has told people that Georgia has mental health issues and is agoraphobic, but Cora thinks there is something more.

As the lives of these three women are about to collide, will they find the answers to their problems? I raced through On A Quiet Street, and couldn’t put this book down. Seraphina Nova Glass ratchets up the suspense in this well-crafted novel, and although as she ties up the loose ends a bit too tidy, overall this is a psychological suspense novel I would recommend. If you were a Desperate Housewives fan back a few years ago, this one is for you.

The Review

The author continues to do a phenomenal job of pushing the domestic thriller genre to its limits and beyond in the best way possible! The world-building and character growth early on in the book did a great job of layering the mystery of both the fidelity of Cora’s marriage to her husband and the circumstances of Paige’s son and his untimely demise. The shocking twists and turns that this small community takes on, as well as the secrets that these households harbor, really add both an engaging plotline and yet an eerily realistic touch to the narrative, as the shocking developments are not necessarily out of the realm of possibility in this day and age, making this even more of a haunting read.

For, as a longtime fan of mystery reads, the suspense aspect of this mystery thriller and the theme that it explores were the biggest draws for me. The exploration of this multi-layered mystery and how each character’s struggles early on in the novel inadvertently stack up against one another’s until all three protagonists and narrators of this novel find themselves coming together. The theme of toxic masculinity and how it impacts marriages and relationships was a major theme throughout the novel. Often seen in our world, men will go to extreme lengths to be dismissive of women, mansplain to women things they already have an understanding of, and manipulate the women in their lives to fulfill their own personal needs. This toxic behavior is explored in several of the characters’ lives, and the shocking twists that toxicity takes add to the depth of character development and the mystery that unravels as a result of those developments.

The Verdict

Haunting, shocking, and entertaining, author Seraphina Nova Glass’s “On A Quiet Street” is a must-read novel of 2022 and one of the top domestic thrillers of the year. The chilling twists this narrative takes and the emotional pull of these characters’ struggles will have readers on the edge of their seats as the climactic second half of this novel takes off! This is one of the best authors to come through in this genre in years and I cannot wait to read more of her work.

Engrossingly and grotesquely entertaining.

Not me looking at my neighbors with a side eye the entire time I read this book. I would take the dog for a walk and think, "I wonder what's really happening in their house?" Seriously, could they be having secret affair or hiding a murderer. After a neighborly wave after accidently making eye contact, I'm right back to my suspicions of treachery. No neighbor is safe.

I love Seraphina Nova Glass's twisted mind. On a Quiet Street is a character driven plot in that it is told from multiple POVs, but the action never really stops. There is so much going on that I almost forgot about the initial mystery that the book starts off with.

Each character is perfectly annoying from the POV of other characters, yet absolutely relatable when we read from their own perspective. Made me stop and wonder how well I see myself versus how others see me. The writing was just so good and absolutely spot on for this type of book.

Again, I will say, Engrossingly and grotesquely entertaining. Seraphina Nova Glass knocks it out of the park and right into the neighbor's window. Beware.<

From the outside, Brighton Hills looks like a beautiful community along the Oregon coast. It’s a place that looks friendly and the people living there seem so happy. But open up the doors and behind them you’ll find all kinds of crazy. Cora is married to Finn who she believes is definitely cheating on her but he’s making it seem like it’s her obsessive imagination. Paige and Grant lost their son Caleb a year ago when he was killed in what the police described as a hit-and-run accident. But Paige is consumed with loss and the belief that he was killed by one of the residents and it was intentional. She spends almost every waking hour spying on her neighbors, determined to find the person responsible. And then there’s Georgia who never strays far from her house, caring for her infant daughter Avery and married to her overly protective, much older husband Lucas.

It might sound like all kinds of crazy but it’s incredibly controlled chaos. The narratives are provided by Cora, Paige and Georgia who all have compelling points of view. I changed my opinion of these women so many times that I gave up and just let them take me on the ride of their choice in the moment. There seemed to be one surprise after another, some small and subtle, others with more seismic impact. There’s nothing predictable about these people and the challenge is to identify who around them may be lying or hiding something.

Even though it took me a moment to connect with the story as I felt like I was dumped in the middle of their lives at the start, it didn’t take long for me to be utterly hooked. I wisely listened to the book because the talented Imogen Church narrated, delivering a performance that made me think there were at least three others helping out. She was amazing and made crazy sound almost normal. It was akin to a roller coaster ride in that I really couldn’t predict the next turns. This was an intriguing and fascinating listening experience, one I wholeheartedly recommend. No way am I even offering up a clue as to how it ends!
