It had been far too long since I’ve read a RaeAnne Thayne book So when I was offered to review SUMMER AT THE CAPE I jumped right on board! SUMMER AT THE CAPE is only the seventh book I have read of RaeAnne Thayne’s but after reading it, I’m excited to search out her other books and read all of those too. RaeAnne has a way of pulling you right in and getting you emotionally invested into the characters lives. My heart was breaking for Cami and Violet and all that they had been through. I was cheering for Violet and Alex and at the same time, giggling out loud with the comments they made at each other. RaeAnne Thayne is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her writing is so warming and her characters are all believable. Once you start reading, you aren’t going to be able to stop. I thought I knew how this story was going to end but I sure was wrong!

Violet’s twin sister, Lily rescues two young girls wading in the tide pool when a rogue wave knocks them down. The girls are okay but Lily never makes it out of the water. One of the girls happens to be Alex’s daughter, Ariana. Cami is on her way to Cape Sanctuary to help her mother, Rosemary with a legal problem. Before Lily died, she was planning to open a campsite that she said was for glamping. The problem with the site was that they had nothing in writing from the owner. While Cami is there helping, she hopes to repair her relationship with her mother and Violet. After her parent’s divorce when she was a teen, Cami lived with her father in Los Angeles while the twins lived with their mother in Cape Sanctuary.

SUMMER AT THE CAPE was a quick read for me. I was instantly captivated in their lives and was flipping the pages like crazy to see how RaeAnne Thayne was going to wrap up all the story lines. I never skipped a single word, I was that engrossed in all their lives. The secondary characters in this story will have you cheering for the whole lot of them. Jon and Cami have some major hurdles to get over and problems to overcome, but if anyone deserves to be happy, it is these two. I didn’t realize I was holding my breath near the last page until I let it out to let the tears flow. SUMMER AT THE CAPE is filled with heart tugging moments and will have you laughing and crying all at once.

As with all of RaeAnne Thayne’s stories, you will be instantly drawn to these real life characters and feel the emotions they feel. I could not put SUMMER AT THE CAPE down. I had to see what was going to happen. The plot is just perfect and the little twists that RaeAnne throws in captures your heart and your head. Amazingly written and totally believable. I sure did love my visit to Cape Sanctuary.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Harper Collins and MIRA through Netgalley. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.

I received an ARC of, Summer at the Cape, by RaeAnne Thayne. RaeAnne is a brilliant author, her characters are well drawn out. I really liked the characters in this book, especially the sisters. Cami, Violet, and Lily. Families are not always what they seem.

I loved this story.

I think my love of it stemmed from understanding Cami in a way most may not as the sibling who lived with the other parent. Growing up in a family of divorced parents the relationship with your siblings who were raised by the other parent changes. I connected with Cami.

As for this story, it's truly about family, forgiveness, heartbreak, and learning who you are when your life is turned upside down. The author did a wonderful job creating the many layers of family, siblings, parents, and the bond they share when all else is gone.

I also fell in love with the scenery that came to life through the author's words. As a Florid a girl I loved the setting of this story. It felt like home to me.

This story was sp good and I enjoyed getting to know this family and watching how they dealt with grief, love and being a family after the loss of someone so close. I definitely recommend grabbing a copy to enjoy.

I enjoyed the first two visits to Cape Sanctuary. RaeAnne Thayne has created a location that evokes childhood memories for me. You can see my reviews of The Sea Glass Cottage and The Path to Sunshine Cove for details about the setting.
While this one didn’t quite have the charm of the first two, I still was happy to be back on the Cape.
For whatever reason, this plot felt unnecessarily complicated. It’s not that it is difficult to understand, it just seemed that there is a lot going on.
Cami is the older sister of twins, one of whom (Lily) has met a tragic end. So, she is coping with being the odd one out but also with losing a sister.
Violet, the twin who is still alive, is dealing with her own demons, but now feels like half of her is gone and she is trying to cope with that.
Their mom, Rosemary, who was all in on a glampground project with Lily, is a free spirit who begs Cami to come back and help sort out estate and land issues.
It should be noted that Cami left the more relaxed Cape Sanctuary when she was 14. She grew up with her dad in Los Angeles. She has a lot to adjust to when she returns, beyond the complicated family issues.
I didn’t really connect with any of the characters the way I did in the past two books. I think that makes a difference in how enjoyable a book can be. I was still interested, but I didn’t have that personal connection that takes it to the next level.
As always, I liked the secondary characters. They seem realistic and are appropriate to the story. And I love the setting.
This is another pleasant read from RaeAnne Thayne. I can’t really say I loved it, but I definitely liked it and it is another solid entry in the Cape Sanctuary series. I’ll keep returning for the location alone.

Ahh it was so nice to be back in Cape Sanctuary, some of these small town romance settings are so idyllic and I think this author may create my favorite of them all. The best part of this series is that it’s not even really a series, the books are all totally standalones because the only common factor is the town. There are a couple of fun little Easter eggs though if you have read any of the previous books but it’s definitely not necessary.

This author always writes the sweetest and most tender romance and this was no exception, but there was some darkness here as well. Cami and her family are grieving the tragic loss of her sister and that plays a big role in the story here. While it definitely has some sad and emotional scenes it’s not an overall heavy book, there is so much hope throughout and plenty of lighthearted fun as well. Per usual there is romance for sure but also relationships between family and a great and strong sense of community that makes me long for a Cape Sanctuary of my own. Loved this delightful read and recommend it when you just want to escape in a sweet little book.

Four and a Half Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭒

Summer at the Cape by RaeAnne Thayne is a heartwarming, story about sisters, and relationships all set in a gorgeous location on the California coast. This is more than a simple beach read, it has complex characters and addresses grief, loss, and healing.

Cami, a successful lawyer who lives in Los Angeles, received a call from her mother begging her to help her untangle a legal mess in Cape Sanctuary, where her mother now lives. When Cami was fourteen years old, her mother and father divorced, and Cami stayed in Los Angeles with her attorney father, and her younger twin sisters, Violet and Lily moved to Cape Sanctuary with their free-spirited mother, Rosemary.

Cami’s sister Lily died tragically several months ago while saving two little local girls on the Cape Sanctuary coast. The family is still grieving the loss of their sister and daughter, but Lily’s twin, Violet is especially grief-stricken as she’s never known life without her twin sister. Lily and Rosemary started a glamping business on their neighbor's land that overlooks the bay, but after Lily’s death, they found out there isn’t any official contract with the neighbor, allowing the use of his land. Rosemary begs Cami to come to Cape Sanctuary to help with the legal battle before they get evicted from the prime location.

I just loved these characters. Cami is very self-assured until she goes to stay with her mother and sister in Cape Sanctuary. She’s always thought her mother abandoned her, leaving her with her father after the divorce. And she never felt close to her sisters who were twins, as she always felt a bit left out of their lives. Although she visited Cape Sanctuary in the summer, she never felt like she was part of the community like her mother and her sisters. I enjoyed the way these three women relied on each other as they continued to grieve for the sister they lost, and banded together to fight the legal batted over the glamping location.

As the story evolves, a bit of romance happens for each of the sisters, and a bit for the mother, too. I loved how the family works through their grief and estrangement and they learn to rely on each others strengths and gain a better understanding of each other. Even the side characters are complex and well developed.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys women’s fiction and romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Trigger warnings: Death of a sibling, parent with dementia
Summer at The Cape is a lovely summer read! This book had a little bit of everything, from family relationships, second-chance romances to touching conversations surrounding grief.

I loved how the book followed the dual POVs of Violet and Cami, both of whom are trying to figure their own lives out after the tragic death of their sister, Lily. The book therefore featured two very different kinds of love stories, and even though the plot did not solely focus on the romance side, I liked reading them both. 💕

The drama surrounding the glampground was enjoyable ~ from the very beginning I was eager to know how the conflict would be solved, and I must say, I was rather satisfied with the ending! The setting of Cape Sanctuary was honestly, such a treat. 😍 It made reading the book a lot lot better in my opinion! I adored the family dynamics, the secondary cast of characters, and the wholesome community feeling that the book created. :')

My favorite part of the book was definitely seeing Cami and Violet's relationship develop. Their shared grief of losing a sister bought them closer. The plot had so much depth and emotion; I did not want the book to end at all!

If you're looking for a quick read that will fill your heart with all the cozy and warm feelings, while making you appreciate your family a little more, I recommend picking this one up!

I finished this book with a contented sigh. I enjoyed it enormously. Cape Sanctuary is a perfect place to reside. Right near the ocean, tmeprste weather, and a caring community. It was an idyllic read on a cold chilly day. There is sadness, the loss of a beloved sister and a terminal diagnosis, but romance abounds. I was partial to Alex with his long held love for Violet. Cami just needed someone to break through her walls. And perhaps love is in the air for the second time around?
I was thrilled to be approved for this early read. Reading Thayne brings homeyness and comfort.

Reconciliation.

The latest book set in Sanctuary Cove is a heart-touching mix of family drama and romance. Lily’s death while saving two girls from drowning, has ripple effects into lives around her. One of the girls saved is the daughter of the man who broke her twin, Violet’s heart. Lily’s fledgling glamping business, brought into life by her mother Rosemary, is on the neighbors land, but there is no signed lease. Because the neighbor shows clear signs of dementia, his estranged son comes home to challenge the lease. In turn, Rosemary reaches out to the lawyer daughter she left as a 14-year-old child when she and the twins moved to the cove. While some of the storylines are predictable, this book shines in the way the characters relate to one another as they deal with the loss of a daughter/sister to an accident, a father to disease, and discover the family you make. Recommended.

This was a beautiful and heartwarming story that almost made me cry (and I don’t often cry at books so that in itself is a miracle). It also made me so excited for summer and was giving off all those gorgeous beach/summer field/small town feels.

Lily and Violet are twins, but a tragic accident takes Lily’s life, and Violet and her family (including her other sister, Cami) have no idea how to process what has happened. To top it all off, they’re trying to run a glampground in Lily’s honour since it was her passion project, but their neighbour is not too happy about it all and has plans to shut it down. Throw in a bit of exes to lovers, a second chance at love, and a tamer version of enemies to lovers, and you’ve got yourself a great read.

I’m pretty picky with my romance tropes, but there were some great ones in here and I loved them so much!! The only thing that drove me nuts was how stubborn both Violet and Cami were when it came to love. Ladies, just let your men love you!!

My favourite character was probably Cami, although I really loved them all. Each of them had their own unique stories and troubles, and I found that they all had a lot of depth to them. It really felt like I was getting to know each character on a deeper level.

I’m not always the biggest fan of romance, but I enjoyed this one a lot and would definitely recommend you add it to your TBR! Just get ready for aaaall the emotions.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for access to this e-ARC. This complimentary copy was provided to me in exchange for my honest review. This book will be coming out April 12.

Summer at the Cape by RaeAnne Thayne doesn't really reinvent the wheel or stand out as jaw-droppingly good but if you want something light for beach reading, I'd definitely suggest this one. Without getting too into the plot as it does get a bit convoluted, two sisters (Violet and Cami) have come home for the summer to Cape Sanctuary, California to help their mom who seems to have found herself in a bit of a pickle. Violet's summer consists of reigniting the flame with now divorced Alexandro, her first love who she has never forgotten, while Cami embarks upon an enemies to lovers trope.

If you enjoy Robyn Carr (Virgin River) and Sherryl Woods (Sweet Magnolias), this would definitely fit that feel. RaeAnne has been a solid read for many, many years and I was glad to be able to experience this one! Solid 3.5/5

The Cape Sanctuary series is a great reset series. I grab these whenever I need isn’t too deep and heady. Thayne never disappoints!

I love how this novel has a multi-generational female perspective (along with a couple male voices). A northern CA coast of beautiful wildflowers and glamping luxury tents- what’s not to love about a setting like this??

A beautifully woven story of misunderstandings, forgiveness, and compassion.

One warning, the story is based on the aftermath of the loss of Lily, Violet and Cami’s sister. It also has a character that shows signs on Dementia, as I know that is a sensitive topic for many of us (myself included!).

I have enjoyed other books by this author in the past because she writes so lyrically and characters that are relatable. Unfortunately I didn’t quite feel the draw that I usually do. I still enjoyed it, but just not as much as some other books. The story was super heartwarming and I loved the family connection and the re visiting of first loves. I’m a sucker for that. The setting was beautiful as well. It was an enjoyable, quick read.
Thanks to HQN and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.

Summer at the Cape by RaeAnne Thayne is another one of her wonderful family themed romantic novels. Cami Porter, one of our heroines, goes to Cape Sanctuary, where her mother begs her to help with paperwork for the new glamping resort set up around their property. Cami is one of three sisters (twins Violet and Lily), who was only 14 at the time, when she was separated because of their parent’s divorce, with her staying with her dad in California, and Violet/Lily going with their mom to Cape Sanctuary. Though she did see her sisters and mother on occasion, such as holidays, Cami never felt at home; and concentrated on becoming a lawyer in her father’s law firm. Twenty years later, Cami learns that Lily died, saving two young girls from drowning. The family was deeply affected by Lily’s death, with Violet emotionally dealing with the loss of her twin; Rosemary pushing herself to finish Lily’s dream of the glamping resort and Cami still grieving over the loss of her sister. Cami and Violet both arrive at the same time to support their mother, though it’s only been 4 months since Lily’s death, the family is still very much in turmoil.

Over the summer, Cami and Violet will begin to bond even more, helping each other heal from the tragedy, as well as possible romance for both. We meet Jon, a neighbor’s son, who returns home to help his father, who is in the early stages of dementia. Cami must work with him, as he refuses to accept that his father would allow the glamping resort to be partially on their land. Jon does find himself attracted to Cami, but is determined to fight it, as well as take control of his father’s estate.

At the same time, Violet runs into her ex-boyfriend Alex, whose daughter was one of girls who Lily saved. Violet fights off her feelings that still remain for Alex, since she still hasn’t forgiven him for marrying someone else years before. Slowly, both Cami and Violet will allow themselves to open their hearts to the future. I really like both Jon and Alex, and kept rooting for them to win over the ladies, but it did take most of the story. I loved seeing how close they became with both Cami and Violet working with their mom, Rosemary, supporting one another; as well as the success of the glamping resort (not to mention all the wonderful breakfast, lunch, dinner foods).

Summer at the Cape was a sweet, emotional and heartwarming, poignant story that was very well written by RaeAnne Thayne. This was a wonderful read, with many heart wrenching moments, revolving around the family, tragedy, neighbor’s father dealing with dementia, and the fantastic epilogue at the end. Cape Sanctuary continues to be a beautiful setting for this story, and makes me want to go there. I really enjoyed this story, and suggest you read Summer at the Cape. If you have not read RaeAnne Thayne, you need to start.

A set of twins and an older sister survived their parents divorce and being split between their mom and dad and now many many years later two of the three girls are reunited with their mom as the mourn the loss of one and try to fight for their right to stay on the land they have lived on for years.

While I love a good romance, I love when the romance is a side story to a family drama. Cami the eldest of the sister trio went to live with their dad when the divorce happened and moved away from her mom and twin sisters and she has all sorts of feelings from that. Violet is the surviving twin and she has returned to her mom's house with guilt that Lily's death is her fault and she must confront those feelings in order to heal and pass through her grief.

What I loved most about this book was Violet and Cami and their relationship arc through this book. I loved that both women had issues from what they thought the other sibling had and the perception of how different their lives were then how they truly were.

I love RaeAnn Thayne's stand alone books and this one is up there with the other ones that I have loved.

What a wonderful story of second chances and the true meaning of family. Rosemary and Ted divorced and split the family apart. Twins Violet and Lily went to live with their mother in Cape Sanctuary and Cami stayed with her father in LA. The three sibling's visits with the non-custodial parent occasionally overlapped, but was strained.

After a tragic accident and subsequent challenges, the sister's are back together in Cape Sanctuary. Cami meets someone new, and Violet reconnects with her HS sweetheart. Both adjust to what is their new normal, while rebuilding their own relationship with each other and their parents. Rosemary and Ted appear to be rekindling their relationship. It's a story told with compassion, wisdom, and understanding in true fashion by the author.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.

Cami and her twin sisters Violet and Lily lived on the Cape. They live there until the divorce of their parents. The twins remain on the Cape and Cami move to Los Angeles,California with her attorney father. Tragedy brings Cami back to the Cape some twenty years later. This really is a story that tugs at your heart. The setting is perfect. As usual RaeAnne Thayer writes of family dynamics, forgiveness and love straight from the heart. It is everything; the reason you read this author.

Many thanks to the author, HQN, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. It was a great read! I recently have found RaeAnne Thayne and have come to really enjoy her books. This is one of my favorites by her and I will be recommending it.
Summer at the Cape returns us to Cape Sanctuary, a lovely, picturesque, warm, and welcoming small town on the northern California coast. This is another wonderful, dramatic, and angst-filled novel that examines how one broken family deals with the loss of a beloved twin daughter, Lily, their attempts to carry on without her, to fulfill one of her dreams, reconcile past issues with one another, and reconnect with each other and some of the people in their own pasts.

I enjoyed my visit to Cape Sanctuary. So many feelings and emotions with the folks residing and visiting here. The way this story is written, I felt those feelings and emotions right along with these characters. This story line deals with real life situations and is written in such a believable way. I loved both the characters and the storyline and hope I can return to Cape Sanctuary and see what these folks are up to. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

A familiar story of a family torn apart by divorce, the children (now adults) coming back together after a loss of a family member. This time it is the death of one of the twin sisters and the need to help their mother keep Lily’s dream of a glamcamp alive. I was aware that this was a theme I had read before but RaeAnne Thayne did an excellent job of keeping the story fresh and interesting. I wanted the family to heal. I was invested in seeing Violet and Cami learn to be sisters again. I wanted to see the camp succeed.

I love the men of the story. Jon, who left his dad after a fight never to return has returned to his dad in his time of need. I love this. To me it says that family is still important even with their differences in the past. Alex, who has a daughter, has not let go of his feelings for Violet and I love that he gives her space while also being sure that she knows exactly what he would like. Alex shows Voilet the respect she deserves while also pushing her to let her feelings out.

Summer at the Cape is a story of love, second chances, family, forgiveness, and happy ever afters. I love this book. I have read many of RaeAnne’s books and this is in my top five list of hers.
