I love Miss petitifour, such a twee lovely little character, and of course, who wouldn't love the hundreds of cats she has (and are expertly described one by one at the beginning!) Another brilliant 5-8 read for children who love nice stories, brilliant writing, and well, cats.

This book was utterly adorable! It's a super charming read that would be perfect for a confident kid to read alone, or to read aloud together. It reminded me a little of the Mrs Pepperpot stories, in that this is a collection of sweet, slow, very low-stakes adventures that centre on community and friendship, with a little pinch of magic. I loved every one of Miss Petitfour's numerous cats, and I really appreciated the introduction to each of them at the beginning - so cute, and really helps get you into the whimsical style of the writing.

Occasionally, this edges close to being twee, but I thought it stopped short of ever being irritating; it just stayed lovely! I did skim the story with the race in it, because I couldn't keep track of the endlessly repeated similar names - I got that that was the joke, but it was a pain to read (perhaps it would be more fun aloud, as a tongue-twister) - but otherwise, every page of this book was delightful.

The artwork is adorable, and I can only imagine how lovely this is as a physical book - the colours are so cute and soft. Really gorgeous, unusual read, and I'll be looking out for the first book in the series to catch up, too.

A book with that has a magical lady with lots of cats! Please give it to me now!
This book is adorably quirky and I really enjoyed reading the adventures. However I felt like there was waaaay too much word play and very little story. I am actually unsure what age group this is aimed for. I feel like it might be too much for younger kids. While it might read too young for middle grade.
I still think this might be a great book for parents to do during story time.

I absolutely loved this collection of stories! It had the whimsy of Mary Poppins with the extra quirk of the cats! The stories, while never intense, are quiet and comforting. There are endless descriptions of delectable foods and cheery gatherings. I loved the sweet moments of these stories. I never read the first book in this series, but I love the voice and the prose. Some of the sentences ran on a tad bit longer than some may prefer, but their sweetness and quirk was enjoyable, no matter the length. I would heartily recommend these stories to any Mary Poppins fan.

The cover of this book is what caught my eye. I love the illustrations and all the quirky characters. The references to synonyms, rhyming words, homophones, etc are great for kids. Thank you NetGalley for the digital copy.

This book is absolutely charming. It has a cat-loving Mary Poppins feel. Giving each cat their own personality is adorable and pulls the reader in from the start. The illustrations are sweet and whimsical. I could see reading this aloud to my Pre-K classroom and having them enthralled in the story!

Need to upgrade file for kindle device. The pictures were not where they were supposed to be.

My daughter loves cats and this book would be useful in the future for bedtime stories. If I have the opportunity to get a physical copy, I will definitely buy this one. I really enjoyed the illustrations and the stories are full of adventure and imagination. Exactly what children would need.

Thank you!

Nice sequel. Miss Petitfour always has such fun adventures with her cats. The cats all have very interesting names and personalities. Great book to teach young readers new big words and their meanings. Thanks for the review copy. Beautiful illustrations.

If you recall, we have been on splendid-yet-comfortable adventures with the delightful Miss Petitfour and her (many) cats before. All it takes is to hold the hand (or paw) of Miss Petitfour (or one of her cats) and take off with the wind as it fills up one of Miss Petitfour’s tablecloths like a hot air balloon and takes us for a gentle floaty ride across the village.

So I was beyond delighted when I saw that a sequel was on it’s way. HUGE thanks to @netgalley and the publisher @penguinrandomca for sending me an eARC for a review!

The adventures in this second volume take place across the year, so we get to experience the joy of tablecloth flying in all the different seasons: a smooth ride on a gentle spring breeze that ends in a delightful supper of golden omelettes, potato wedges and thick toast slathered with butter; a delicious ride on a bright raspberry-scented summer morning in which the cats, Miss Petitfour, and her friends Mr Coneybeare and his brother the coconut king empty backpackfuls of snow-like edible coconut confetti- i.e. Confedible- all over the village parade; an exciting ride on a brisk autumn breeze to watch the village relay race; and a glorious ride on a shimmery frosty winter wind that sharpens everyone’s appetite and calls for a feast of eclairs and cream horns and cheese soufflé and biscuits and puddings and cupcakes.

Like the earlier book, there are little sparkling nuggets of wisdom, whimsy and wonder, as well as delicate, enchanting illustrations sprinkled throughout the book. Together, they make this book a delight and a must-have on my shelf!

The illustrations!!

That's what initially drew me to this book. Emma Block does such a great job of capturing the story, which adds such a whimsical feel to an already fun collection of stories.

If you mixed Amelia Bedelia with Miss Honey and added a dash of Mary Poppins, you would get Miss Petitfour. What's better than that?

Thank you to the Author/Publisher for allowing me to read this advance copy through Netgalley.

3.5 ⭐️

Although i found this book quite charming and the illustrations were adorable, the writing style was just hard to grasp. I found myself confused a little or lost at what i just read so I’d have to go back and reread it. I think this book would be great if you took your time and read it to your child out loud, because the rhyming and adventures aspects could make for a good bedtime story.

Thank you netgalley for the earc! I love anything with cats so it was a cute story nonetheless!

I thought this story had an interesting presence, almost Mary Poppins eske. But I just couldn't read this story. There was a lot of descriptions for the different cats and I was honestly confused as to whether this book was for children for adults.

3☆ An Endearing Story with plenty of Quirky Characters.

This is my first book I have read in this new children's adventure series. I would recommend that you read previous books as although there is introductions to Miss Petitfour and her array of loveable quirky cats I do think it would help to read previous storylines.

I had mixed emotions reading this book although I enjoyed reading this book it didn't hold my attention.
I definitely think it's more aimed at middle grade readers as there is a fair amount of complex wording and word play,  that younger readers would not necessarily relate too.

For me there was far too much word play and teachings of vocabulary rather than concentrating on the actual story.
It felt like the book was trying to educate more than being a fun fiction adventure which I what I perceived the story to be.
I became a tad put off by the teachings and think children may also lose interest.
For example teaching children about rhyming words in the middle of a paragraph it felt a little irrelevant and long winded, and in doing so lost site of the storyline, I had to go back a few sentences to read what was happening.

That said it was an Endearing story, with quirky fun characters, some adorable cats with quirky personalities children will love, some beautiful illustrations which was a nice added touch. It just wasn't for me I'm afraid. This book really has amazing potential I just feel it needs to be a little more focused on the story telling.

I did not read the first book of Miss Petitfour’s adventures so did not know what to expect. I must admit I was disappointed at first as the story seemed to be going nowhere. But then I realized that the “adventure” part was not really the point. Rather it seems to be a book featuring much play on words and explanations of idioms. It does so by weaving them into the adventures of Miss Pettifour and her sixteen cats. The adventures were farfetched and crazy. The explanations were fun and enjoyable and overall the book held my interest. Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for given me an electronic advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to the publisher for granting me access to this book. When I saw cats I knew my girls would love me reading it, and I wasn’t wrong. They loved the funny names and all that Miss Peritfour got into with her cats. The only downside was, as my five year old stated, it was a bit wordy and long in some sentences(literally a mouthful). Other than that, it was colorful and whimsical!

I found the premise very intriguing and a fun idea that originally reminded me of Mary Poppins, always a favorite in my book, but ultimately I was disappointed and left feeling very confused due to the immense amount of digressions and ramblings.
