Not what I expected. I like more action and suspense in a story and although there is, it’s not a “wow, can’t put down” book. Very “clean” writing. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.

I gave it another shot and found the action and suspense really exciting but the every-day goings-on of the characters boring. I’m probably not the intended audience although I really do love suspense. Romantic suspense, that is.
I want to try a different story by this author and see if I would like it better!

This book was a little different from some of the past Whitlow books I’ve read. The storyline was good and the great journey to forgiveness was refreshing.

Sorry to say but I could just not get into this book at all. It was boring to me and I just could not get past the first 5 chapters. I will try again, but at this time it just did nothing for me.

I have been a litigation paralegal now for 31 years, and I live in my native state of North Carolina. Because of these two things, I have always been drawn to Whitlow's books. He did not disappoint me with Relative Justice! I think I want to apply to work at Cobb & Cobb! The office dynamics and personalities of Carter, David, and Katelyn are closely in line with those of attorneys I have worked with over the years. All small-town law firms have a Zeke Caldwell who comes in needing help with all kinds of issues! Watching the faith of David, Robbie, and Katelyn grow was an added bonus. I will definitely be recommending Relative Justice to others and sharing it with my coworkers!

A lovely book! It’s an easy and wonderfully long read. The whole book (despite some underhanded dealings by the “bad guys”) breathes wholesomeness. The characters are authentic with real problems. I love the way the family is portrayed and the insight provided into their daily lives. Especially looking closely at David’s family will reveal a treasure trove of solid and healthy family routines and relationships. I like the legal angle and the problems the lawyers had to deal with. Initially you are wondering how all of these characters are connected. I also really enjoyed “observing” the interactions at the Cobb & Cobb law office. A great example of how one can get along in the workplace and how admitting your wrongs is not a bad thing! The book is a substantial read but held my attention from beginning to end even though you won’t be as much on the edge of your seat as with other books written by Robert Whitlow. If you’re looking for a good read with a few life lessons to boot, this book will not disappoint.

I've read many books by Robert Whitlow and have enjoyed them all. This one was no different. His books are faced pace and easy to read. Great characters that are easy to root for. I highly recommend this book.

I have come to realize that I love legal thrillers! I don't typically read books that are considered Christian Fiction, but I enjoyed this book. This was my first by the author. The plotline was different and refreshing. There were parts that seemed a bit slow, but overall, it was a well written book and the characters seemed genuine.

Loved it:
I really enjoyed this book. The case presented was interesting and it captured my attention. I appreciated that unlike many legal thrillers, this book wasn't bogged down with an overabundance of legal facts and procedures. Rather the plot flowed smoothly and there was a perfect mix of family, personal drama and mystery surrounding the legal case.
I also liked that it felt natural. The characters had doubts and flaws and faced challenges. It was encouraging seeing the them put their faith into action and I liked the message about continually turning to the Lord in prayer.

In the book Relative Justice, author Robert Whitlow follows Katelyn Cobb and her on track dream of becoming a partner for a prestigious law firm. But after some unforeseen situations she and her husband Robbie move back to his hometown. Robbie’s brother David is a lawyer, but practices law a bit differently by relying more on God than just the facts. Can Robbie’s lawyer style help a client win a high-stakes patent lawsuit?
This is a great read with excellent characters. The message of allowing God into our everyday lives and decisions is great! I would highly recommend this book. This is an intriguing story that is heartwarming as well as an example of living a life of faith and prayer. I love everything about it including where it takes place, the interesting characters, the issues they face and how they handle unexpected hurdles and are able to reach an agreement when they don't agree.

Katelyn, an attorney works for one of the more powerful law firms in the Washington DC area is offered a big promotion to move to the Chicago office. Robbie, her husband is willing to support her and agrees to the move, although his heart is working with kids and he just learned of an opening at a boys camp in his hometown of Wilmington. He doesn't even mention it and instead begins discussing plans to move to Chicago.. Through some unforeseen events, the move to Chicago doesn't happen and they do end up in Wilmington because Robbie's Dad is in the hospital.

Robbie's brother David is the junior partner in the law firm of Cobb and Cobb that was started nearly forty years earlier by their dad, Carter Cobb.. While Carter is in the hospital David asks Katelyn to come to work at the firm temporarily to help out while Carter is recuperating. . David and Katelyn have some conflicting ideas about how to approach certain things. David's natural tendency is to pray about everything, but Katelyn isn't necessary onboard with running a law firm that way.

There are many twists and turns as well as some surprises. Fun fishing trips and some serious business to take care of as well as an unexpected event that all comes together as part of this fascinating story. This is a book that is difficult to put down until the last page is turned.

This is my first experience reading a novel by Robert Whitlow. It won't be my last! I really enjoyed this story although it did drag a little bit in places. That, however, didn't deter me from enjoying the story. The legal case was compelling and interesting to keep me reading the book quickly. It did seem a little bit longer than it needed to be though. Before I retired years ago, I worked in a very large law firm, so I thrilled me to be "back in that world"! I wasn't around criminal law, but many terms and actions were familiar. This led me to be more interested in the book, I think! I loved getting to know all the characters more fully as the author spends a great deal of time plumbing the depths of each one. David and Kathryn were more of the main characters, but the other family members had a lot of "screen time" too. In the story, Zeke, has a patent for his home-made remedies but someone else has made one of them and has a patent too so Zeke is going to court to claim patent infringement. The other guy, Emerson, is kind of a shady character but his journey is interesting. I loved the family dynamics, the law case and the outcome! It needed a little more "pizzaz" in some parts but mostly, I really enjoyed the book!

Robert Whitlow combines a legal thriller with a Christian perspective in Relative Justice. Is a prestigious legal career more important than family? Can a lawyer, who is more counselor than lawyer, help a friend fight a big pharmacy company over patent infringement? Can an aging family lawyer find his way back into the practice? All of these questions are answered in Whitlow's novel.

Relative Justice moved at a much slower pace than most other Robert Whitlow legal fiction books that I have read, but it suited the story. While the first eighty-five percent of the story is slow and easy, the last fifteen percent will have you on pins and needles. Whitlow spent time developing his characters and their relationship with God, and most readers will be delighted with the result. There were a few details that did not seem quite realistic, but that did not detract from the story overly much. The theme of listening to and for the voice of God in both big and small things is well developed through attorney David Cobb's character as he interacts with others and as he handles a pharmaceutical patent infringement case along with his sister-in-law, attorney Katelyn Martin-Cobb.

I must admit that Relative Justice is... not quite what I expected. To be honest, I was definitely expecting more of a high paced thriller/suspense read... and this certainly was not that. It was a much slower paced read, with more emphasis on the legal aspects and family relationships. None of this was bad, just unexpected to me.

The author's knowledge of law was definitely evident in this story. I tend to lean more towards those action paced crime novels as opposed to the court room, but I found it enjoyable nonetheless. I feel like those who do like the court room drama more will certainly enjoy this one even more though. It was well written with lots of interesting characters to draw you in. The slower pace did take me a bit longer to get into, but again this may have had more to do with my own expectations as well. Overall though, it was a good read that fans of legal novels will be certain to want to check out.

Having enjoyed several of Whitlow’s other books, I was excited to get to read this one, as well. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointment. I still enjoyed reading the story and getting to know the characters, but the overall story wasn’t as strong and didn’t feel as put-together as some of his other books. I loved that he worked home remedies into the story; that was fun to read about, and I’ve always been interested in what could happen with patent infringement cases. The family side of things was interesting, too, and I loved seeing how kindness and forgiveness played out in several characters’ stories. But as a whole, I was somewhat disappointed in this story. I’m looking forward to seeing how the next book is!

I was given a review copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion of it.

This book was the first I’d read by Robert Whitlow in a good white, though in the past I’ve read many of his books, both as an individual and a book club member.

The story was engaging and I thoroughly enjoyed the characters! The pace was just right and I never tired of the story or wanted to put it aside. I love the faith element that is part of every book by this author.

I received this book from the publisher via net galley in exchange for an honest review. Four stars!
