I really loved this book in a new to my series and author. I can't wait to read the next one. The characters and location really add to the plot. This book keeps you guessing until the end.

Author Sherry Harris consistently puts out some of the best-written cozy mysteries in the genre. And Three Shots to the Wind, the third book in the Chloe Jackson/Sea Glass Saloon mystery series, is no exception. With perfect plotting, descriptive writing, a beachside setting, relatable characters, and a puzzling mystery, Three Shots to the Wind hits all the right notes.

Chloe Jackson is a recent transplant to Emerald Cove, Florida who left Chicago, her job as a children’s librarian, and her ex-fiancé to fulfill a promise when her best friend died unexpectedly. She is settling into her new life when she begins receiving anonymous gifts, heralded by a flyover banner that reads, “I love you, Chloe Jackson.” The situation gets weirder when she realizes that the banner and subsequent presents are the work of her ex-fiancé, Perry Franklin, who apparently is in the Florida panhandle for a convention. Things take a dire turn when Perry is found murdered, Chloe’s home is broken into, and her current romantic interest, Rip Barnett, is brought in for questioning. Chloe has had enough, and she must push past her fear and danger to unmask Perry’s killer and clear Rip’s name.

The mystery, as always, is top-notch, with a colorful variety of suspects and an abundance of twists, turns and red herrings. Chloe is smart and curious, with an endearing amount of self-doubt. And in this installment, we get a much-appreciated glimpse into her family when brothers Kenny and Randy come down to Florida to make sure she is all right. Vivi Slidell, who owns three-fourths of the Sea Glass Saloon, is bright and vibrant, and seemingly just a little over-the-top in her efforts to introduce Chloe to eligible men. The only one missing from the cast is Ann Williams, a local “fixer” we’d met in previous books who brought an “edge” to the stories. I do hope we see her again in subsequent novels.

It's rare when a book is so deliciously good that you are left wanting for more. Three Shots to the Wind does just that, inviting readers to continue Chloe’s story in the next episode, Rum and Choke. It’s one I hope to read in the very near future!

Note: I received an ARC of Three Shots to the Wind from NetGalley and Kensington Books. The above is my honest review.

I fell in love with the Chloe Jackson Sea Glass Saloon series from book one page one. I’m finally getting to book 3 of the series I have had on NetGalley. Book 4 is already up on NetGalley.

Chloe is settling in as a homeowner and partial bar owner and has found herself in a good relationship. All that is turned upside down when her ex-fiancé from Chicago shows up. Unfortunately before she can confront him she finds him floating near her home…dead. Why was he in Florida and who wanted him dead?

Chloe is the friend we all want. She is sweet and caring and will do anything for those she cares about. She tries to find the good in everyone even when they are mean and rude to her. These qualities are what also gets her in trouble. Even her visiting brothers can’t keep her out of trouble.

A series set around Destin, Florida in a beach bar. Perfect series for a staycation.

Three Shots to the Wind is the third book in the Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mystery series. I love this series and enjoy all of the time I get to spend to Chloe in Emerald Cove. Chloe is everything I need in a cozy mystery heroine. She is likable (always important), realistic, imperfect - but the perfect person for this series, a little clueless, fiercely protective, and someone I would love to be my best friend.

The story is not, however, all grins and giggles as Chloe discovers she has a secret admirer who just happens to know some of her favorites....flowers, wine. The discovery of her ex-fiancé's body on the beach near her house has her completely rattled. Why now, after a year-and-a-half did Perry come back to woo her, and who wanted him dead?

Chloe has settled in quite nicely in Emerald Cove. She's still an outsider to most but she has a select few who consider her family. I love how she has integrated herself into the town. The emergence of Perry into her new life would have complicated things, especially since she's in a relationship, but his death is a down-right catastrophe. Chloe, unsatisfied with the speed of law enforcement, begins her own sleuthing and her discoveries are shocking.

Three Shots to the Wind is a fast-paced and engaging novel. The author is such a wonderful writer and I love her ability to instill true emotional reactions in her readers, and not just shock, awe, and humor. This book has other themes threaded through it, making the story realistic. Realism - that's where it's at for me in any book.

Three Shots to the Wind is another fantastic book in this series. I love the continued character development and introduction of an assortment of secondary characters. Chloe considers several of the characters to be suspects, giving the reader several viable murderers. Her process of elimination leads to a twist I didn't see coming. The story is original, and I was able to visualize each scene as they played out. A fantastic story, a love interest, and a capable and competent main character make this 5 stars for me. The author has another hit series on her hands!

I was provided a copy of this book to read #NetGalley

I've read this series from the first book and have enjoyed them all. This book captured my attention from the first few pages and I ended up reading until late into the night. The mystery was well-written and the I found the book to be an easy read. There were just enough twists to keep me guessing.

The characters now feel like friends and I've enjoyed watching the relationships develop.

I've visited the Florida Gulf Coast many times and would love the find the Sea Glass Saloon and be able to meet Chloe and the rest of the crew. If you enjoy books set on the beach with an interesting cast of characters, I think that you'd like this book.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite series. Chloe is (mostly) smart and independent. The supporting characters are a great addition.. Chloe finds herself with an over the top admirer broadcasting his love with a huge flower arrangement and an airplane. It all becomes clear when her exp fiance turns up dead. Chloe finds herself in the midst of another mystery. There are plastic twists and turns to keep you guessing the killer's identity. I look forward to the ne,t book.

This continues to be an entertaining series. Chloe has had a hard couple of months. She has been embroiled in many more mishaps than she would have liked. Although Chloe is now almost a local, she has an unknown past. This past is to catch up to her in this instalment.
We only got a brief glimpse of what our engaging protagonist left behind when she moved to honour a dead friend. We finally get the full narrative.
The plot begins in a curious fashion, with someone wooing Chloe and that someone is soon found dead.
In these books, the lead suspect is never our amateur detective. It is usually a person close to them, and our central character works tirelessly to save this other person. This was no different in this context. I did not enjoy the randomness of the suspect pool or the behaviour of all the new people, but the end result was the reason why I liked this book best. I guessed the twist a little into the second half, but I felt I enjoyed the reveal rather than bored by it since I had already called it. This last part is quite rare.
A few more exciting moments in this added to the overall ambience. The foundation of this series is strong, and it continues to build well on it. I would recommend this to fans of the genre.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

It seemed like a typical day in the Sea Glass Saloon, at least until Joaquin called Chloe out onto the deck. Small planes towing banners to advertise local events are common. Seeing one that says, “I love you, Chloe Jackson” isn’t. The banner is soon followed by a huge bouquet of lilacs, her favorite flower. Same message. Ditto the magnum of sparkling wine.

Chloe heads for home, which for her means a twenty-minute jog down the beach to her house. On the way, she spots Deputy Biffle. Stopping to see what’s the problem, she wishes she hadn’t. It’s a dead body, her photo in hand, and worse yet, it’s someone she knows well.

Perry is, was, her ex-fiancé. They broke up a year and a half ago. Chloe headed for Florida. Her job in Chicago was eliminated, she inherited a beach house and job, so why not stay? She hadn’t heard from Perry since.

Apparently, Perry decided to combine a convention of accountants with winning Chloe back. She didn’t really know him after all.

To help find out who killed Perry, Chloe investigates on her own, and finds several women who all thought they were “the one” for Perry. Chloe’s two brothers show up without warning to be her bodyguards—about ten minutes before Rip is due to arrive for a special dinner. Add to all that, Vivi, her boss, is trying to fix her up with someone other than Rip. Stressed is an understatement.

This is the third in the series. Chloe just gets better and better. Her relationship with Rip is becoming a real relationship, not just a date. She’s learned to live alone in a small town, rather than with a roommate in a huge city. Chloe’s someone you’d want for a friend although for anything more complicated than beer or glass of wine, ask Joaquin to make your drink. Besides, he’s a hunk. I look forward to seeing Chloe again soon.

Harris also wrote nine Sarah Winston Garage Sale mysteries, all reviewed here. They’re just as enjoyable as the Sea Glass Saloon series, lacking only the warm weather and ocean view.

Three Shots To The Wind is the latest addition to the “A Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mystery” series. Chloe feels more and more at home in the beautiful beach town and with her work and ownership of the saloon. She loves running on the beach, the wind in her hair, and serving drinks to tourists and locals. But her happiness is disrupted when someone starts sending her gifts of all her favorite things, and a flying banner pronouncing their love for her appears in the sunny skies above the saloon. Just when she thinks things can’t worsen, she comes across a body floating facedown near her bungalow. Unfortunately, the body belongs to none other than her ex-fiance, Perry. Worse yet, Rip was seen arguing with the victim shortly before his demise, making him the #1 suspect in Perry’s murder.

Fans of this series will love all of the clues left behind for them to find and scrutinize their significance in the plot. Suspects are easy to find and follow as they are hanging out at the saloon and on the beach. It isn’t hard to figure out that many of the suspects had a motive and the opportunity to kill Perry. Why they picked Chloe’s beach to leave the body becomes clear as the evidence stacks up, and fingers are pointing to Chloe and Rip as the culprits. But there is a side of Perry that Chloe had never seen, and she isn’t sure she would have liked that adds to the intrigue. Too many things about him don’t add up, and maybe one of his hidden talents and adventures caught up with him. Tracking down this killer won’t be easy, but Chloe feels it's her duty to get justice for her ex, even if it means putting herself in the line of fire.

Three Shots To The Wind is a well-written story with plenty of clues to lead to the killer's unmasking. That is not to say it is easy to find the bad guy, as this story is also complex and filled with deceitful evidence and motives. The saloon and Vivi, who is opening up more to Chloe, play a part in the investigation but the main focus is on the beach itself. Tracking down the killer keeps Chloe and readers on their toes, and there is plenty of action to keep the story moving. Readers will want to run along Florida’s shores while hoping they don’t come across any of their own exes floating on the waves.

Chloe's change in attitude lead to a change in latitude when she decided to honor her best friend Boone's last request, to look out for his Grandma Vivi. Side note, Grandma Vivi owns a bar, well half owns, since Chloe was the beneficiary of Boone's estate, and doesn't really need anyone looking after her. But that is old news from the first book so be sure to pick up after you finish this one. Now, in this installment, we find out why Chloe had no qualms about heading back to Florida and the Seaglass Saloon. Bound and determined to win her back even if it kills him (whoops), Perry goes for over the top antics using showy gifts mysteriously delivered culminating in an expensive meal he never shows up to. He obviously doesn't know Chloe like he thought he did. Maybe Chloe didn't know Perry as well either. Chloe is a former librarian whom you can completely relate to, and she is about as good with mixing drinks as I am. Glass of wine or tea anyone? Tea, like you could pair with a po'boy sandwich. Want to know something else she is good at, sleuthing. Worried that new like (nope not in the love zone, yet) interest Rhett/Rip (not sure which name I like better) may be a person of interest right alongside of herself, Chloe starts looking for suspects with the help of her friends, la few local cozy characters. While she may have left Perry once upon a time, she can't turn her back on finding justice for him.

Three Shots to the Wind is one of those books that pulls you in and keeps you engaged and guessing from page one. Chloe Jackson, transplant from Chicago to Emerald Cove FL, is settling in to her life as part owner of the Sea Glass saloon but it seems that her life is anything but calm. Her ex-fiance Perry has come to FL for a convention, determined to win Chloe back. Unfortunately, Chloe finds Perry dead not far from her home, and Rip, her boyfriend, is the number one suspect. Chloe, puzzled as to why Perry would be in FL, starts to investigate, 'determined to prove Rip's innocence. As she talks with Perry's family, co-workers and rebound loves she discovers a side to Perry she never knew. As the pieces fall into place, Chloe discovers the identity of the murderer and is almost the next victim because she knows too much.

The books in this series just keep getting better and better. In this book you learn more about Chloe's past life, you meet her brothers, her relationship with Vivi and Rip continue to develop and you are increasingly charmed by Joaquin, Michael and the other residents of Emerald Cove we've come to know from the first two books. There are quite a few suspects and just as many clues. The mystery is well-written and difficult to solve, however there are subtleties to the story that enable you to perhaps figure out whodunnit before the end of the book, but you are never quite sure!

The Sea Glass Saloon mysteries are not to be missed -- I highly recommend Three Shots to the Wind and will eagerly await book 4.

The characters in this series have become old friends by now, and I thoroughly enjoyed this
installment. Thanks for the opportunity to preview the title!

I ended up loving this one more than I thought I would. Mainly because it started out slower than previous books in the series. But I did enjoy seeing Chloe spending time with her brothers. And I did not see the twist coming nor did figure out the who done it a head of time. Once the reveal happened I have to say that I was completely shocked. As I didn't see that one coming. Even though each mystery in the series is a stand alone it is still important to read them in order as there are spoilers for other aspects of Chloe's life.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Chloe is settling in nicely in her new home and her new position as part-owner of The Sea Glass and her new relationship with Rip. It looks like clear sailing until her ex-fiance, Perry, storms into town determined to win her back. She broke off the engagement because she found him nice but dull. Boy, was she wrong! First he overwhelms her with tokens of his adoration and then he ends up dead in a lake with her photo clutched in his hand. She begins to wonder whether she ever knew him.

The more she learns about him the more she realizes there is a queue of people who might have wanted to harm him. Even though someone took great pains to try and frame her or Rip or both, she figures whatever was the motive, it had nothing to do with her previous relationship with him. She is determined to clear Rip and find the culprit but she is sidetracked by the swarm of potential beaux that her partner, Vivi, seems to throw in her direction. She is also hampered by the arrival of two of her brothers who are determined to protect their little sister.

In spite of their best intentions, Chloe stumbles upon the truth but it make cost her dearly. It all goes to make a fun and entertaining read. I do like Chloe and her merry band. And the way the location is described, it makes me want to visit the Panhandle. Five purrs and two paws up.

I really wanted to enjoy this book but unfortunately, I couldn't get into it. For me, it was a DNF at about 15%.

Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley for providing me with an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Chloe Jackson puts on her sleuthing cap once again when her ex-fiance arrives in town - apparently to win her back - and is found murdered before she even knows he's there. Who could have done it? And why? Did he even know anyone in town, besides Chloe? She'll have to work quickly to help catch his killer...and avoid being killed herself.

I really enjoyed this fun and interesting cozy mystery. The characters are fleshed out, and the mystery intriguing with plenty of twists and turns and red herrings to keep me guessing whodunit. And the author's descriptions of the Sea Glass and the surrounding areas made me feel like I could smell the water and feel the breeze...and taste the Peach Bum Fizz.

Many thanks to Kensington Cozies and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Chloe Jackson is one lucky girl, somebody loves her and they are pulling out all the stops to tell her so. An airplane flying a banner I LOVE YOU CHLOE JACKSON, her favorite flowers, wine, an invitation to a fancy dinner. When Rip Barnett calls asking “Is there something you want to tell me?” she knows he may be her admirer but he is not the secret admirer sending the gifts. Who would know all her favorite things?

It couldn’t be, could it? It is! Her ex-fiancé has traveled from Chicago into her new neck of the woods for an accountants’ convention. Does he think he can win her back with a few nice gifts? Before she can find out she finds his dead body in the lake right next to her new home! Grasping a picture of her in his hands! Rocked to her core she faints dead away. When she wakes up she tells Deputy Biffle who the man is setting off a quick interrogation leading to Rip becoming Biffle’s prime suspect. Chloe knows she has no choice. She has to track down a killer but the killer may also be tracking her.

I love the characters in this series. Things started out a little prickly between Vivi and Chloe but they are slowly finding their way to owning the Sea Glass Saloon together and even becoming friends. So much so that Vivi has taken quite an interest in Chloe’s private life. Even a dead body doesn’t deter her much. Joaquin and his partner Michael have become true friends to her as well. Even Deputy Biffle is learning to tolerate all her questions even though he may not answer them. I love the relationship between Rip and Chloe, taking things slow and maybe even slower because Chloe’s brothers show up to “protect” her. All these core characters continue to develop at a realistic pace. Vivi and Chloe are still each mourning Boone in their own ways. Grieving takes time and it is different for every individual. I am so happy the author continues to include that in each story.

It was a real treat to have Kenny and Randy make a surprise visit being urged by their wives and parents. Their deep-dish pizza dinner meeting with Rip was funny and heartwarming. They really love their little sister.

Ms. Harris created a very complex character in her victim. While Perry Franklin was killed off very early in this story his character immerged over the course of the book and he had a whole different side that Chloe never saw. Everyone told her changed after they broke up but she really dodged a bullet when she broke up with him.

The mystery of Perry’s death was a complicated one with several suspects. The accountant’s conference brought several people in from the Windy City. Set in Florida it is only proper that the story is full of a ton of red herrings. Each suspect on Chloe’s list could have motive to have shot Perry dead. How many secrets can one man have? The book has a very brisk pace but I did my best to slow it down to try to catch every clue. Even doing that I was kept guessing right up until the exciting reveal.

Anytime I open a book by Sherry Harris I know I will be delightfully entertained and that my armchair sleuthing skills will be tested. Three Shots in the Wind did just that. What a fun read!

I am very excited for this series to continue. Randy and Kenny have promised to return with their families. That sounds will be like a fantastic good time especially when you mix it with Chloe’s next mystery to solve.

I love this beach saloon!!

Chloe Jackson is a part-time waitress, learning to be a bartender and part owner of the most popular little beach saloon in Emerald Cove, Florida. As we begin our tale, Chloe is having one of those days. It’s one of those days where it just gets more strange as the day goes along. On what should be a relaxing run Chloe stumbles upon the local deputy investigating the murder. For me to add on to the strange events of her day it’s Chloe‘s ex fiancé who is found dead.

This is a fantastic story. Sherry Harris gave us a Mystery that kept us on the edge of our seat. The moral of the story is don’t judge a book by its cover and Chloe found out that her ex was not the man whom she thought he was. This mystery has fingers pointing at the man Chloe is currently dating but she knows he had no hand in it. As a mystery unfolds I became more and more engrossed in the story. It’s a great story with lots of humor and a fantastic Mystery woven in.
