Chloe's day took a strange twist when a banner declaring "I love you Chloe Jackson" was spotted flying overhead and that was just the beginning of the declarations of love. It turns out it was an unwanted blast from the past but now the bigger problem is the dead body that was discovered near her home.

This story has it all. A nice beachside setting, well plotted mystery, a touch of romance, humor and characters to like/characters to dislike. Thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

I LOVE YOU CHLOE JACKSON messages surround the young saloon owner. A banner flying behind an airplane, a vase of lilacs, her favorite wine, and an invitation to dinner all arrive unsigned. Then the body of her ex-fiance turns up dead in the lake next to her house.

Chloe starts investigating and her brothers show up with directions from their parents to protect her. Sherry Harris’s well-conceived mystery uses red herrings and engaging twists to build suspense in this nicely paced read.

Chloe Jackson has given up her life as a librarian back in Chicago and moved to Emerald Cove, Florida. It's because of the will her late best friend Boone left, giving her all his worldly goods and part ownership in the bar he owned with his grandmother, Vivi. Her new romance with firefighter Rip Barnett is also starting to heat up, and she's happy at last.

But one morning while at the bar, there's a commotion and her friend Joaquin tells her to come outside. Above them is a plane with a banner reading 'I LOVE YOU CHLOE JACKSON'; and soon after she receives a huge bouquet of her favorite flowers and a magnum of her favorite sparkling wine. At first stumped that anyone would know about the flowers and the wine, she soon realizes that it might just be her ex-fiancé, Perry.

But then things go from bad to worse -- floating in the lake near her house is Perry's body -- and he's clutching a photo of her. Stunned and horrified, Chloe has no idea who would want to kill nice, boring Perry. But since there's a video of Perry and Rip having an altercation, Biffle has to list Rip and his number one suspect. Chloe isn't having it, and decides to do some investigating on her own.

Then there are the surprises that come Chloe's way -- and I won't list them here because you need to read the book -- but it puts a wrench in Chloe's plans and brings frustration because of Vivi's -- yet Chloe carries on, determined to prove Rip innocent.

What follows is an intriguing tale of Chloe trying her best to find and eliminate suspects -- some who have good reason to want Perry dead -- surprises that aren't expected, and a few humorous situations that lighten the book quite a bit. What Chloe also has is plenty of motives that could spur people to kill, including lies, secrets, and jealousy -- but what Chloe also discovers is that sometimes those closest to us can be someone we don't know at all..

In the end, I found the climax interesting and unusual, not to mention a bit unexpected; and it gives the book the final punch it needs to carry through. Ms. Harris gives us a tale that keeps us reading throughout, and we learn more about Chloe and her past, which is a good thing, as it makes her more real than before. I enjoyed this book immensely and await the next in the series (hopefully soon). Highly recommended.

Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mystery #3

We’re back in Emerald Cove, Florida with Chloe and friends. Chloe is mixing drinks when she looks up to see a plane and a banner. The banner reads I LOVE YOU CHLOE JACKSON! What in the world? She and her guy are not even at that point yet. So what does this mean?

The question continues when she finds a bouquet of lilacs and a not-so-cheap bottle of her favorite wine. Does she have a secret admirer?

Surely her ex-fiance in Chicago hasn’t decided that after all this time he wants her back. She is not interested in going back and can’t figure out what he could be doing. But, yes, he has come to town for a convention for accountants and is determined to win her back, or so it seems. And when he is found floating in the lake with her photo in his hand, suspicious minds want to know.

None of this makes any sense to her. And when Rip becomes a suspect, she is determined to find out who is behind this. But with all the sketchy people in this story, she may end up dead herself.

Really good series with great characters!

⭐⭐⭐.5
Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mystery # 3
The Sea Glass Saloon is located in the cozy beach town of Emerald Cove, Florida and is I have not read the other two books in this series. But The Sea Glass Saloon certainly called out my name!!

Twenty-eight year old Chloe Jackson works at the saloon which is more a tiki hut than a saloon.
She is the waitress/bartender and owns a quarter of it.

Story starts with a somewhat strange day
• Airplane flew over pulling a banner “I Love You Chloe Jackson
• A bouquet of her favorite flowers arrive
• Then a bottle of her favorite sparkling wine ~ both with a note same as the banner.

After checking with the florist, they find that a woman order the flowers.
Now Chloe is wondering if they are pity gifts.

All this is stressing her, Vivi her co-worker tells her after the lunch crowd to take a break and go for a walk. She sees Deputy Biffle at the coastal lake near Emerald Cove; he is investigating a murder scene. Much to Chloe’s shock it is her ex-fiancé, Perry Franklin that she hasn’t seen in a year.
It soon appears that Chloe and her boyfriend Rip Barnett are both being set-up for the murder.

This cozy-mystery is a fun, beach-read I look forward to the next in this series!

I always enjoy reading the Author’s Notes and/or Acknowledgements.
In the case author, Sherry Harris thanks her mother for reading to her and her sister when they were young, for filling the house with books and passing on her love of mysteries.

(I completely had a smile on face while reading this as it totally sounds like me!)

'Three Shots to the Wind' was a bit of a departure for the A Hannah Swenson Mystery series in that Hannah was not warned away from investigating a murder, but rather she was encouraged and expected to help. Also, the interactions between Hannah and her sister Andrea surrounding baking instructions returned again to the formulaic, sophomoric interactions. It was if Hannah was speaking to a young child. The continuing lack of resolution of relationships has been addressed on the Hallmark channel with a much more mature and satisfying result for me. I hope the super bombshell at the end of the book will provide Hannah with a new perspective on who is important to her.

This is the third installment of the Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mysteries and this one is even better than the first two! I thoroughly enjoyed this and I am bummed that I have to wait for the next one! Chloe continues to thrive in Emerald Cove and her relationship with Vivi is becoming much more comfortable. She is finally starting to feel like she is a partner in the bar, instead of just an employee. In this book, Chloe is mortified when she sees a plane pulling a banner reading "I LOVE YOU CHLOE JACKSON." She immediately gets a barrage of text messages and calls from people wondering the identity of her secret admirer. She knows it can't be her beau, Rhett/Rip. The gifts keep pouring in, including her favorite flowers and wine, and an invitation to a fancy restaurant. She also learns that her ex-fiancé, Perry is in town for a convention, but they parted ways years ago, so could her secret admirer be Perry?

Chloe has an amazing relationship with her co-worker, Joaquin and his husband, Michael. Her relationships with Vivi and Rip are growing and she is getting to know and love the residents of the town. She is horrified to learn that Perry is found dead, floating in a pond near her house, and Rip is one of the main suspects. Chloe starts investigating and learns that there was a lot more to Perry than she originally thought. She is also surprised when her brothers come down from Chicago to act as body guards to keep her safe. There were so many twists and turns in this book, it kept me guessing until the end!

I didn't realize this was a series, and now that I've read it, I'm looking forward to going back and reading the first two books to get to know Chloe Jackson and her background better. She's a great character, the perfect amateur sleuth. The beach setting was fun, and the mystery really unfolds little by little as we solve it along with this appealing detective.

Three Shots to the Wind by Sherry Harris is the third book in her Chloe Jackson Seaglass Saloon Mysteries series. Chloe Jackson's ex-fiance Perry is in town looking to get back together with Chloe. What he got was... dead. As Chloe investigates she discovers Perry wasn't the guy she thought he was, but he didn't deserve to be murdered. I found this storyline to be engaging, well-paced, entertaining and fun. I am really enjoying this series and this book is a great addition to it.

Love the adventures of Chloe Jackson. Fun surprises that keep one turning the pages. Yikes, who is behind the door this time? An entertaining and enjoyable group of characters. Some with good intentions and then, of course, those without. It will keep you guessing. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. I look forward to reading more in this series.

This story had me from the very first page. First, a plane towing a banner declaring "I love Chloe Jackson" is just the beginning. As the anonymous declarations of love piled up, I wondered how I'd feel in Chloe's shoes, especially as she realized how well the stalker seemed to know her. Then, to find out the likely identity of the stalker when a dead body is found clutching a picture of her. That is the situation Chloe finds herself in as the book opens. And that is all before her romantic interest, Rip, is taken in for questioning.

Chloe is determined to find out who murdered Perry, who she once planned to marry. That was about a year and a half ago, however. Still, she seems to think of him kindly, albeit as something of a staid, stay-at-home bore. As she learns more about him in her present, though, she begins to realize that perhaps she didn't know him as well as she thought. Was the man she thought she knew just an illusion? What other secrets will she discover? Who are all these women showing up and claiming they were his only love?

Why is Vivi introducing Chloe to a steady stream of eligible men? What does Vivi have against Rip? Who will show up at the dinner staged by the victim prior to his death? Who isn't what they appear to be? Will Chloe and Rip's young relationship survive the arrival of her boisterous brothers? How does Chloe manage to get herself into such predicaments as she faces near the end of the book? Speaking of the other characters, they're a likeable bunch. Her brothers are a hoot, that's for sure. Heck, you'll even learn how to make certain cocktails if you're paying attention.

Bottom line, an intriguing, fun read. Be sure to add it to your reading list.

Thank you #NetGalley and #KensingtonBooks for the ARC.

I absolutely love this series, and this book was one of my favorites.
Chloe is shocked to learn that her ex-fiance is in town to win her back, but before she can confront him, his body washes up near her house. With no other suspects, Detectives look at Rip, the current boyfriend who must be so jealous he kills the ex=fiance. But, Chloe knows better, and sets out to figure out exactly what happened. As always, her sleuthing leads her into trouble.
The characters in this series are awesome, this plot was great, and as always, I couldn't put it down. Already looking forward to the next one in the series.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Chloe Jackson is finally feeling like she is settled in Florida and not missing Chicago as much. When it seems she has a secret admirer, Chloe has no idea it is her ex fiance, Perry. When she finds Perry's dead body, Chloe couldn't be more shocked. While searching to find out what happened to him and why he was in Florida, she learns so much she can't hardly believe. Will Chloe find out who's to blame before something happens to her? And will what she learns involve people she has come to care about?

Wow! Three Shots in the Wind is another home run! It is 3rd in the Sea Glass Saloon cozy mystery series and this series keeps on a 5 star tract. Each book is set in Florida's Panhandle with a varied cast of characters and a great protagonist. Chloe Jackson is a Chicago transplant who is a co- owner of the Sea Glass Saloon. She is an independent, beach loving woman who seems to keep running into "situations". The situation here is her ex fiance from Chicago is found dead in the Gulf after attempting to win her back after they havent seen each other for quite awhile.
There are many twists and turns to keep one at the edge of their seat. There was one where I actually gasped.."Wait!! What?? "
I also really like the beach town feel which has been prevalent in each book.
Chloe's 2 brothers showed up in this one which added some family dimension and humor.I enjoyed meeting them.
I'd like to thank NetGalley, Kensington Publishing and the author Sherry Harris for the opportunity to read and review this book which publishes on March 29, 2022

Another cozy mystery by Sherry Harris which was very enjoyable. Chloe Jackson a young women who inherits part ownership of a bar in Florida. Not only does she inherit part of the bar, she also inherits a home, a boat and a handful of friends from her long time friend Boone who was killed in military action.
Chloe ends of staying in Florida since she lost her job at the Chicago library she worked at due to budget cuts. Chloe was glad in a way because not only did she lose her best friend Boone, she lost her job and also broke off and engagement to Perry. Now Perry is back in Chloe's life and she finds out he is dead. Who would kill Perry? Why all of a sudden he wants Chloe back?
Sherry Harris writes a story of mystery, mayhem and through in a little love. Chloe must find out who killed Perry, and hopes she is not a suspect. She finds out her new love Rip is on the police suspect list due to a film that was sent to them of Rip and Perry fighting. Chloe feels this is a set up and needs to find answers without falling into hot water with Deputy Biffle. Joaquin is Chloe's friend and he also works with Chloe, Vivi the other owner was hesitant of Chloe at first but cares for her but does not like Rip as Chloe's boyfriend. Well everyone tries to help Chloe in her quest to find Perry's killer until Chloe herself gets kidnapped while she is on the killers trail. What will happen?
I have read a few other books by Ms. Harris. I love the colorful characters, the way she describes the beaches and the the whole Florida picture. You feel like you are with in the book. The twists and turns also had me glued to every page, because there were many characters who could have been the killer. Read this book to find out who done it. Thank you Sherry Harris for another wonderful Chloe Jackson mystery. Can't wait for the next one. Thank you NetGalley and Kenisington Books for the ARC approval. Would love to read more.

The Chloe Jackson series just keeps getting better. This time, Chloe's ex-fiance turns up dead, and Chloe finds there was a lot she didn't know about her seemingly mild-mannered ex.

Chloe has settled in nicely to her new life in Florida. She's part owner of the Sea Glass Saloon, and is building strong relationships with the residents of Emerald Cove. She's a great character, and her motivations and actions feel real. There's also a good amount of humor.

This is a great cozy series and I hope there are many more cases for Chloe.

4/5 (sea) stars
