Spelunking through Hell is original, exciting, and thought provoking, and contains the equally excellent bonus novella Sweep up the Wood. This is the book followers of Seanan McGuire's InCryptid series have been hoping for as it answers many of the questions about Alice and her life. As usual with the InCryptid series it has fantastic world building, believable characters and nonstop action that keeps the reader totally invested throughout. There is a satisfying conclusion that does not rule out the hope for more books to come in this outstanding series.

The Price family has spent generations hiding the existence of cryptids (species that might be called fantasy) from the world. When Thomas Price is whisked away by magic, his wife Alice vows to find him. She's been tracking him through multiple dimensions for decades and is getting tired but still determined. and it feels like she's nearing the end.

This is a fast paced exciting quest through strange worlds and peoples (or monsters depending on your point of view).

We finally get Alice and Thomas’s story. Alice continues her search for her missing husband after fifty years of searching. ARC from NetGalley.

Definitely not my favorite book in the series. Still readable, but not nearly as fun as some of the earlier titles.

ARC received by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is one book I was really looking forward to and Seanan McGuire did not disappoint. I really loved the look into the other dimensions and the beings that call those places home. Alice was a character that was hard for me to connect with at first but then she grew on me. Her voice is certainly one that is different considering just what she has put herself through over the years. I really did love that she acknowledges just how odd she has become and all the mistakes she has made in the past. Particularly, when it comes to the children she ended up leaving behind. If you enjoy books about dimension hopping I would say give this one a go. Though, with the amendment that you would probably want to at least read the last two books in the series since those do heavily impact this one.

The only problem with finishing Spelunking Through Hell by Seanan McGuire is having to wait for the next book in the series to come out! This continuation of the InCryptid series was a wonderful story of the fifty year journey of Alice Price-Healy to find her missing husband Thomas and I can't wait to see what they get up to next.
