Even though this was a typical rom-com, I really enjoyed it. I loved all the characters and they blended together well. I would definitely recommend this book!

I really liked this book in the beginning, it got my attention quickly and kept it. After getting around the half way mark I started to feel bored and felt the story was a bit longer than it needed to be. Overall great writing but didn’t hold my attention enough.

Fun rom-com. While predictable there’s a little bit of a slow burn to get there. This was my first book by Catherine Walsh, so I’m really excited to pick more of her books up! Great summer read!

Catherine Walsh pens a hilariously sarcastic, relatable, insightful and rewarding romcom about finding yourself and your purpose where you least expect it: the village in rural Ireland from which you ran away as a teenager.

Abby Reynolds, born and raised in Clonard, a tiny village in Ireland, doesn’t particularly care for her hometown and hasn’t maintained a strong relationship with her family since moving out for college at 18-years-old and achieving success in New York at MacFarlane, a large investment bank.

Having climbed so high, her fall is fast, hard and far: when MacFarlane suddenly goes under she’s left penniless (having all her money tied up in the company) and she becomes both single and homeless when her fiancé dumps her.

Abby begrudgingly moves home to stay with her sister where she reconnects with her family, old friends and the boy-next-door — who has metamorphosed into the village’s most eligible Bachelor — while also forging new friendships and exploring professional opportunities.

Walsh develops a diverse cast of deeply likeable, sweet and hilarious characters with whom we easily relate, sympathize and for whose happiness we wholeheartedly cheer. Although fast-paced the story is packed with meaningful exchanges and growth between characters, charming adventures/dates/encounters and thoughtful reflection.

It was a joy to escape in my first Catherine Walsh book and I look forward to carrying these sweet characters with me.

Special character shoutouts to:
Tomasz, Abby’s brother-in-law, whose comedic injections occupy most of my highlights and annotations. He is the best secondary character EVER and his one-liners, sarcasm and comedic gestures are of sitcom proportions.

Luke, the quintessential but impossibly adorable and completely irresistible boy-next-door:
“‘Every tourist who comes here tries their luck with him. Ever since he hit late puberty.’
My mouth drops open. ‘You said you didn’t notice!’
‘I’m not blind.’”

Abby, our sweet and hilarious MC
“‘I think the big boss blinked at me in a really positive way,’ I say, ignoring his grin. ‘Like in a Morse code *I’m going to hire you* way. And the assistant who brought me in? Caroline? Loved me.’”

Abby has lost her job, her fiancé dumped her and now she is effectively homeless. The last place she wants to be is crashing at her sisters house in her rural Ireland hometown. On her way she runs into a handsome stranger Luke and thinks he may be the perfect rebound. Except the next day it becomes clear Luke is the boy who grew up next door complicating everything. The biggest challenge for Abby though will be admiring to her family how wrong everything is going in her life.

I really enjoyed this rom-com from Catherine Walsh. The setting in rural Ireland was so charming and I felt transported to the seaside town. The opening scenes with Abby hitting on Luke and then finding out he knows exactly who she is made me giggle. It was such a fun way to set up the story and Luke and Abby made such a sweet couple with a lot of chemistry too!

The complicated relationship between Abby and her sister was really interesting to read and I loved the way their relationship evolved during the book. It was a special reminder that sometimes we don’t always ‘get’ our family members but we always have their backs.

Along with the romance with Luke and figuring out her relationship with her sister, we’re also along for the journey of Abby figuring out what comes next for her in life as she looks for a new job and considers what she wants to do now. Overall, although this is a romance there is a lot going on and a lot of self-discovery which I found very charming and really added to the story.

This book is about reconnecting, staring over, family and friendships and taking chances. I fell in love with the characters so fast. It was a great read.

After getting dumped by her fiancé and fired from her job at an unscrupulous company, Abby finds herself on the way home to her sister’s house in Ireland. When there are no buses available, Abby ends up accepting a lift from a kind stranger, Luke, who turns out to be an old childhood friend much to her embarrassment.
Abby is feeling so down, she lets her pride get in the way and continues to pretend that she is still getting married, the humiliation of both sets of circumstances too much to bear. However, this starts to cause more problems than it solves and it becomes apparent that is Abby just lets her guard down a little, she has a lot more support than she realises.
I loved this book-absolutely hilarious from start to finish. The development of all characters including side-characters was well delivered. 5 stars

I am way too late with my review for this book but here goes nothing!

Poor Abby has lost everything that keeps her in New York and away from her small hometown in Ireland. She has no other options but go back. When she arrives and is stranded without a ride a handsome stranger offers her a ride home. Little does she know that the man named Luket, and friends she makes there might end up changing her mind about her hometown!

I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. It was funny, light and easy. Abby was starting over, reconnecting with family, making new friends and taking chances. I honestly enjoyed reading about all characters. The romance was so much fun to read about and even though it wasn't the most dramatic stuff it kept me engaged.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

✨Book Review✨
The Rebound by Catherine Walsh
⭐️⭐️⭐️
.
This book was just eh for me. There were s few points where I thought about dnfing but I was already more than halfway finished, so I kept reading. I guess it was a sweet ending, but I would have been ok not getting there.
.
If you like super light and pretty PG romances you will likely enjoy this one! I guess I just wanted a little more this time.

This was a DNF for me. This one is supposed to be a rom-com, but as far as I made it, I found nothing romantic or comedic. Abby was annoying and immature to be such an accomplished person (at least that's what the story tells us). She lies from the start to her sister, and I feel like she was rude for no reason to her. She didn't want to talk to her sister, but didn't mind using her for a free place to stay since she had nothing left after the business she worked for filed for bankruptcy. She lies to Luke about still being engaged, but doesn't hesitate to throw herself at him when she's drunk. I just couldn't keep going. I wasn't going to be able to root for them to be a couple or for Abby to turn her life around.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

This was a great book about love, loss, and finding yourself again. I really enjoyed this and will be reading more of Walsh in the future.

This book was enjoyable yet predictable. I had fun reading it, but it won’t be one of those ones that stick with me for a long time.

"she’s suddenly found herself unemployed, homeless, and absolutely 100% single" was very much me during the pandemic so i really related to abby in that sense, which is why i think i liked this book as much as i did (that and i'm a sucker for men with emerald eyes). (and the fact that most of her problems would be solved if she just communicated).

the characters were really likeable and it was a very cute, light read. this was my first catherine walsh book but i'll be reading more from this author for sure!

Another fun read by Catherine Walsh although I didn’t enjoy it as much as One Night Only 😊 J do love an Irish author though and I will continue to pick up Walsh’s work as it’s released!!

Oh my gosh THIS WAS SO CUTE!!!

I love Catherine Walsh, and I’ve been a fan ever since I read one night only so I knew I just HAD to read this one!

This book is set in Ireland as the MC is forced to move back home to live with her sister after she loses her job, her home, and her fiancé. BIG YIKES.

What’s even better is the chance she has to revisit with old friends, but more specifically with her next door neighbor turned HOTTIE.

Abby is such a quirky character but feels so real and I love her for it. You get to see her grow and do what it takes to turn everything around, and that’s so important! Luke is toooooo cute and their banter is so fun!

Definitely a quick, fun romance thatll make you feel all warm and fuzzy!
