So this started out really strong and I liked how things unraveled, but around the middle I just got bored with it.

This book was not what I expected at all! It was so curious to get to the end to see what was happening and who was behind all the mystery that Alessia was facing. The then and now parts were a little confusing at first but as the story picked up I wanted to know what was going to happen both in the past and present. Casey Kelleher did an amazing job at holding the suspense throughout the story and just when I thought I knew what was happening, another twist was thrown in the story. Alessia's past is coming back to haunt her and it puts her husband and their 3 year old son in danger. Alessia does what any mother would do and protects her son while trying to find out who is really terrorizing her family.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Casey Kelleher for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for an advanced audio book in exchange for an honest review.

4 stars

Going back and forth from present day to twenty years ago, Alessia's life is filled with a loving husband and son. This is very different from her traumatic childhood which no one knows about. Is Alessia being haunted by her imagination or is it real?

Excellent narration by Daphne Kouma.

**Listened to the audio book**

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator was brilliant. She really helped to build the tension and managed to change her voice for all of the different characters in a way that wasn't over the top, but just helped to identify a new person.

I love a thriller with an unreliable narrator - and this book certainly had an unreliable narrator.
Back and forth, back and forth - wondering what is real? what is true?
Despite the horrible things our main protagonist has done (or hasn't she?!) I still felt some empathy for her! Many twists and turns and love how it went back and forth in time - and I could still follow it despite the fact it was audio book.
Not the most original plot - but I was gripped nevertheless!

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. The narrator was great! This was a great book that kept me listening whenever possible. Unfortunately, this is a story that happens more than people want to admit. I was shocked more than once by the turn of events. The suspense was great, the characters were great. Loved this book, however it's very sad to think about the family dynamics.

So bingeable and juicy. I finished it in a day!! Loved the dark and twisty journey- a solid suspenseful book!! It was really fun to listen to, and I HIGHLY recommend this one. It has been a while since I've binged a thriller in this way.

My best friend Sarah and I used to spend all our time in a place we called the Doll House. It was just an old, abandoned cottage in the woods behind our house but it was heaven to us. Until one of our games went wrong. And someone ended up dead.

It was an accident, or at least Sarah told me it was. But when I tried to tell the police that I wasn’t involved, they didn’t believe me. When the Doll House Girls were splashed across the newspapers, it was my face they showed under the headlines. I’m the one who stood trial.

Now, twenty years on, I’ve made a new life with a new identity. I have a wonderful husband, Carl, and Jacob, our adorable son. Despite everything in my past, I’m happy.

Great audiobook fully recommend

A very sad story, but so reach of emotions. Hard themes are mentioned like abuse but in a good way, not to hard to forget. Charactres were really deep, I felt in guilt with the main personage even fortunately I did not have such a sad story behind me. Changing the name, having a family and then after so many time beeing questioning again and have to defent not just you but also your family is really ver difficult bur the story is just right. At the end everything is at its place

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for this alc.

This was a high 4 stars for me. This tragic story was about abuse and second chances that are all mixed up in lies and betrayal. My heart went out to the main character and I really wanted her to be able to save her family relationships. It got really crazy and I enjoyed the ending.
I chose to listen to this book on audio and highly recommend listening to this. Daphne Kouma narrated this and she was great.
Thanks Bookouture via Netgalley.
