A great page turner in the covid era... a great escape for an afternoon, a day at the beach, a vacation or plane read to divert ones thoughts from everyday life.

This story was brilliantly written! Linda seemed to be such a simple character but the narrative expertly added complex layer after layer. At first, it seems like there are two storylines but they come together so well that the bigger picture of what is happening suddenly comes into focus. In many ways Linda has to be the most viciously subtle character I’ve encountered in a while which is exciting to reflect on after finishing this book. My only critique is that their could have been a supplement chapter where Linda shares how she did what she did step by step to the reader. However, that may just be me and my curious mind wanting more details than are needed. Highly enjoyed this story! My real rating with be a 4.5.

I love novels with unreliable narrators, especially when the writer manages to show the reader information that the narrator is unaware of. A Tidy Ending is that kind of book, and I raced right through it... only to skid to a halt two chapters before the end. I was expecting a twist, but I couldn't reconcile this with what I'd read till then. Had I skipped a chapter? Misread several scenes? Even now I'm waiting for more reviews to help me interpret the denouement. Even my confusion over the ending, however, doesn't negate how much I'd enjoyed the rest of this slyly funny, smart book. Maybe on my second reading I'll figure out what that ending means...

Thank you, NetGalley and Scribner, in exchange for an honest review.

This book was DENSE. A complex yet satisfying mystery with a complex yet satisfying protagonist. Took me a bit to get into it but definitely glad I read

Four Stars

Talk about a tidy ending. You are led to underestimate the lead until you just can't anymore. This is an immaculately constructed house of cards -- a rare thriller worthy of a reread.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle by Scribner and #NetGalley for my honest opinion. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Fun, quirky, unique read I’d recommend.

Cannon's books always pull me in. Here, the pure uncomfortableness of the Linda is so well done that it is cringey. It is the intent, the discomfort, but it made it hard to say I LIKED the book. But I certainly couldn't turn away or put it down. Well plotted, clever and different.

Third book I’ve read by Joanna Cannon.this one is another brilliant read.Linda is the lead character a quiet seemingly mouseywoman who lives with her husband Terry .They have a small home on an estate in the uk.Terry goes to work every day comes home sits in front of the Telly.Linda works part time in a charity shop .Ordinary people till girls start being killed near their home a serial killer on the loose.and threatening letters start arriving..We follow Linda through her thoughts her reaction. There are many twists turns and shocking moments. The end will shock you a book I will be highly recommending Linda is a character that stays with you,#netgalley#scribnerbooks,
