A big thank you to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a novella (less than 50 pages). The short story is about her second case as a homicide detective. It is good, interesting and again gives you a smidge of insight into Bree. I enjoy this series. Bree definitely is showing her dedication. 4 stars

Her Second Death was a fantastic prequel to the Bree Taggert series following Bree on one of her first cases as a homicide detective.

Newly assigned to the homicide division, Bree Taggert is paired with veteran detective Dana Romano with one of their first cases being a man shot and killed in his parked car. When they break the news to the victim's estranged wife, they learn the couple's five-year-old daughter was with him that night. In a race to find the girl before it's too late, Bree will have to confront the memories of her past if she hopes to save the girl

I really enjoy the Bree Taggert series, so I was excited to learn a prequel was coming out following Bree and Dana on one of their first cases together. In the novels, Bree and Dana have a great relationship so I was happy to see how it all started for them. The pair work well together, communicating well with each other as they slowly learn to trust one another. The murder/missing child case was an interesting one as the missing kid added something to what could have been a fairly standard homicide case. Plus, it brings up memories of Bree's childhood and it was interesting to see how that affected her prior to where she was at in the novels. I enjoyed the case as it was fast paced and had a few unexpected surprises along the way.

Overall Her Second Death was an excellent addition to the series and I highly recommend it to readers of the series.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this gripping short story about a murder, a missing child and a police officer who investigates the crime while fighting the memories that make this one hit very close to home.

Bree Taggert has suffered her own tragedies as a child, and when the daughter of her murdered victim is discovered to be missing, Bree is fiercely determined to catch the killer and the kidnapper. Her quest leads her to life-threatening situations, chilling flashbacks, and an ending that she will never forget.

I'm adding the Bree Taggert series to my TBR list today!

A short (really short) Prequel to the Bree Tagget Series. This story introduces you to the partnership of Bree and Dana Romano. The events portrayed happen so quickly you don't have time to get too invested in the story, but it is well written and interesting nonetheless.

This was a short introduction to Bree Taggert and her partner Dana. This novella gives readers a peak at Bree's life as a Philadelphia homicide detective. Although this is a great introduction to the series, I wish the story would have been longer.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book for review.

This is a prequel to the Bree Taggert series. A murder and a missing young child alone with a glimpse into Brees life. Looking forward to future books in this series. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

What a amazing prequel to the Bree Taggart series. This was a page turner from start to finish. A murder and a missing little girl are the focal point of this short story. It was great to look into Bree’s life before she became sheriff. Plus we see the affect that her childhood had on her earlier career. A great edition to this suspenseful action packed series that you do not want to miss.

Gripping, captivating, and electrifying, short and delightful, a great short story. Now I know how sheriff Bree got started along with her housemate Dana. It was like an introduction to Bree and her relationship with Dana, wonderful. A puzzler you won’t regret adding to your reading list.

Short novella taking us back to when Bree was first partnered with veteran homicide detective Dana Romano. One of their first cases together involved a murder of man which leads to the search for his missing daughter. This invokes bad memories for Bree from her own tragic childhood. Just a quick 4 chapters but nice to get a glimpse Bree and Dana in the early days.
