I loved Leo and Nyla’s story. It is not your typical meet cute considering Leo was previously married to Nyla’s older sister. When Leo has some minor surgery Nyla stops in to check on him and while there Leo lets a little bomb drop while under the influence of pain meds. Oh and Nyla is the worst at keeping secrets and everyone knows it. This secret is very hard for Nyla to keep even though she knows she needs to. While Nyla and Leo figure out how to keep her from revealing this secret they also realize there attraction to each other and find it hard to deny. And oh did I mention that Nyla is horrible at keeping secrets? Now she has 2 huge secrets she needs to keep.
I really loved Leo and Nyla together and they really were perfect for each other. And they never tried to fight their attraction and I loved that too. This was a great book and I basically read it in one sitting, I just didn’t want to put it down.

A cross between romance and Women’s fiction, I loved the theme of secrets throughout, this story. The author did a good job of convincing the reader to cheer for the heroine.

"The Best Kept Secret" by Tawna Fenske
Contemporary Romance with a touch of Hot Sauce
I liked this easy read story, although it did seem to drag a bit a time or two, and it did have a bit of spice I could have lived without. Still a good read. I read this as a stand-alone and had no trouble keeping up with the characters. I am a bit curious about the other stories in the 'Where There's Smoke' series. I will probably add them to my TBR book stash. Happy Reading ! !
NOTE: I received the ARC of this story from the publisher via NetGalley.
This review expresses my honest opinion.

I enjoyed this book. It was funny and sweet. Nyla, who can't keep a secret, kept me on my toes wondering when she was going to spill the beans. Leo is a great person with lots of heart which shows in his storyline. I laughed out loud, swooned and gasped while reading this book.

Thank you to Netgalley, Entangled Publishing-Amara and author Tawna Fenske for the advanced copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I’ve been a big fan of Tawna Fenske for a few years now, and really enjoyed the first two in the Where There’s Smoke series. The third book takes place in a different town, so there is very little overlap in characters and stories. It reads great as a standalone!
Best Kept Secret follows Nyla and Leo, who you meet briefly in the second book. Their romance is somewhat taboo - Leo was previously married to Nyla’s older sister, but they divorced six years ago and now co-parent amicably. There are a lot of other family secrets that come into play throughout the book, too. While everything seemed to work out a little too smoothly at times, I liked Nyla and Leo both together and separately. I used to work in healthcare and always enjoy when one of the main characters does, too - in this case, Nyla is a nurse.
Plus, like all of Fenske’s rom-coms, there are some zany situations and funny antics, too. I definitely recommend this book if you love a fun romantic comedy!

This is a fun, beach read, rom-com story. Easy to read and follow. You know pretty much how the story is going to end but it is an enjoyable read getting there. All the characters are well defined. At times the family drama gets to be a bit much and not sure it is all realistic. All in all, it is a very light book with a happy ending that will put a smile on your face!

Nyla has a problem. She finds it almost impossible to keep a secret. When she learns one about her best friend, Leo, it puts her in a real bind. And she has another problem. Leo. Leo also has a problem. Nyla.

Nyla and Leo are in a situation some might consider awkward or just plain wrong. Is there any way they can resolve a sticky situation and find their own HEA without hurting anyone else in the process? Or are they destined to remain friends forever? There is a lot of sex, but the story is a fun read.

This is the first book I have read from Tawna Fenske, and she did not disappoint! The Best Kept Secret was a funny, quick and easy read. The characters are all quite entertaining. I loved the intro when we are introduced to Leo, the ex-husband of Nyla's sister. Nyla is stopping by to pick up her nephew's book, Leo just had mouth surgery and is loopy from pain pills and funny as can be. He tries to be a good host to Nyla while wearing his boxer briefs and an apron. He proceeds to offer her a platter of snacks that includes a zucchini and cat food. I was hooked from that point and couldn't wait to finish the rest of the book!

The Best Kept Secret is a romance between Nyla and Leo, who come together as a result of an unexpected secret that is revealed by Leo. Nyla has difficulties keeping secrets and usually ends up revealing everything. The book is a part of a series but can also be read as a stand alone. This is the first book that I am reading by the author.

This book then follows the after effects of the "big secret" which Leo reveals to Nyla which leads to a whole lot of dragged out family drama. I did not fully enjoy this part of the book and also how the characters react when the secret(s) are revealed. I felt that a lot of the plot points fell into place too easily and this also made me think that characters were rather two dimensional.

I did enjoy the relationship that Nyla and her older sister, Leo's ex-wife, share. I also liked how Nyla got along with her nephew. These were well depicted by the author. I felt a little awkward about the relationship that develops between Nyla and Leo, but eventually it does fall into place.

Overall this is a decent one time read especially for those who enjoy lots of family drama and whole lot of romance.

I really enjoyed this story. I had reservations about how the two main characters would find their way to each other however given that both characters were well developed and easy to like the reader really wants them to have a possibility of a HEA

This was the first book I’ve read by this author, and man this was an interesting trope to read. The best kept secret is about Nyla who is known for never keeping secrets to save her life, is tasked with keep a whopper. The H in the story is her sisters ex. So you can see the trope here already. I did enjoy the way the author went around the taboo of dating your sisters ex and made it less cringy.

I have mixed emotions about this book. It's about Nyla & Leo. Leo was married to Nyla's sister. To me, that's a lot of muddy waters. Not to go into a lot of details, but it seems that the sister was OK with them getting together. The book was pretty good. I enjoyed the book. Love this author.

This novel was awfully cute, and I definitely laughed out loud more than once (which happens rarely for me). It isn't entirely without flaws, but even so, I enjoyed it very much. It's a quick friends-to-lovers read that is complicated by the fact that the friends became friends because Leo was once married to Nyla's sister.

Nurse Nyla is a big-hearted little sister who inexplicably is unable to keep a secret. Actually, "inexplicably" isn't entirely fair; when she was a child, she kept a secret that she shouldn't have, which apparently rendered her unable to distinguish between damaging secrets and personal confidences. She's adorable though, so she typically gets a pass.

Leo met Nyla's sister in high school, and they eventually married. At the start of the story, they've already been divorced for six years. However, since they share a son, the two families have remained intertwined. In fact, the story opens with Nyla bringing soup to Leo, who just underwent dental surgery. Leo apparently never does pain meds well, and he summarily blurts out a secret that will change the family dynamics forever.

The rest of the story is a series of more secrets and more poor attempts to keep those secrets hidden. In the process, Leo and Nyla discover that they have feelings for each other that extend far beyond those of former inlaws or good friends. Their budding relationship is yet another secret to hide.

I love the friends-to-lovers trope, but like other reviewers, I was uncomfortable with the fact that our protagonists were formerly inlaws. It's not wrong--they are both single adults with no blood ties--but it makes intimate scenes feel a little weird. That said, the two definitely have chemistry. However, I wish their intimacy has unfolded with a little more awe, a kind of "Wow, there you are" amazement that happens when you realize that your person has been next to you all along. Even so, their clear happiness at being with each other is romance-story perfection.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

The Best Kept Secret tackles difficult subjects in a sweet funny way. Despite being ex in-laws, Nyla and Leo showed they had an underlying spark. They shared secrets and passion. I loved Leo but thought he was often used as a ping pong. He's feelings were often overlooked.
Nyla is a pretty name but wasn't sure where this name came from. It didn't seem it didn't seem to match the rest of the book to me.
It needed as I hoped but it wasn't without angst.

I liked that nyla was a nurse. I liked the names. I wasn't overly invested in the beginning and what was going to happen. I thought some of the descriptions was overkill.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This was a cute story! Interesting character relationships and a great way to explore a potentially difficult topic. I loved the humor, I found myself laughing out loud multiple times and both Nyla and Leo were relatable main characters.

This story was so entertaining! Our introduction to Leo is one of a kind. Poor man is loopy from pain pills and funny as can be. He tries to be the perfect host to his friend/ex-sister-in-law Nyla while wearing his boxer briefs and an apron. And offering up a platter of snacks that includes a zucchini and cat food. Nyla is a nurse and is checking on him after his oral surgery while picking up her nephew's library book. Unfortunately Leo is in a chatty mood and tells her his biggest secret. The only secrets Nyla can keep are those related to her patients and Leo isn't one of them. Family, secrets, betrayals, love, and loyalty. They are all here in this story.

The best kept secret is un unusual romance who involve Nyla the young sister of Mandy, and Leo, his brother-in-law, divorced from Mandy. Nyla is unable to keep secrets, and had a funny way to say them.
